After a frustrating experience with Samsung (smudges on the screen and very low performance) I went to TCL and now I have a Hisense. Sorry, but I can´t see me going back to Samsung, LG, Sony or any traditional brand anymore. The best bang for the budget market is now full of good choices with TCL and Hisense...

Don't forget that it's TCL CSOT that supplies the screens for Sony and Samsung. The difference lies in the image processing, that's all. The assembly standards are the same for all brands.

No it's not. Sony gets their displays from Samsung and LG primarily.

I wouldn’t go down to Element or Haier. Just stick with TCL, that thing is good enough for the majority of the people while only cost half the price of a Sony.
I own both a Sony and a TCL at home and honestly they both looked great. But my Sony cost 500% the price of the TCL for maybe 1-2% of quality improvement. And if I don’t tell you, you’ll probably never even notice the difference.
The only thing about TCL is that you might want to play around with the picture/sound settings out of the box and Sony is already doctored for you. But once you get to the right config the two TV looked the same at the correct viewing distance. 😂

Since there are no perfect TVs, the model that you decide to buy is the TV that offers you the most features you really want and has the fewest "compromises" that would bother you. I don't deny that both Hisense and TCL make excellent LCD TVs that offer great bang-for-the-buck value in their price range. I will say, though, that my personal preference is for OLED and QD-OLED TVs since I'm drawn to the high-quality image they display, and in my particular situation I don't actually need the extra brightness that LCD panels provide. (I'm also willing to pay extra for a reliable, long-lasting TV.) I realize that other folks have different criteria and I can understand how a Hisense or TCL TV would be the perfect choice for them to buy.

I still think in terms of pure picture quality (excluding quality control) Samsung, LG, and Sony are all better than TCL and Hisense. That's not really debatable. What IS up for debate is how much better they are and how much that is worth the difference in price to each individual buyer. I think people focus too much on quality control when all the companies have issues in that area. My general rule of thumb is that if money is an issue, TCL and Hisense are 10000% fine, though I'm biased more towards TCL as a better brand. If you want to get a TV 75 inches or higher and are not filthy rich, TCL and Hisense are fine. If you REALLY need that extra bit of image quality or money is no object, the other 3 brands are the go-to. I'm a Sony person myself, but I find myself questioning how much longer the current regime of "The Big 3" will last. The world is getting increasingly poorer if you aren't in the top 5% of income, and the value to performance ratio for a TCL TV in particular simply can not be beaten. I just got myself a Sony A80K (the 77 inch was on sale for $2,500) but I was extremely close to pulling the trigger on a TCL QM8, which is something I never would have done just a couple of years ago, and I think that speaks volumes.

Yes Sony X95L is the best MiniLed TV even if it does not reach as much brightness as the others. Quite a few users have spoken about how great the X95L is, and one user also mentioned that he also has an OLED LG G2 and a Sony A90J at home, and now that he has purchased the X95L, he says that it is certainly the best TV of all three.Of all the TVs on the market, from OLED to LED, I would definitely prefer the Sony X95L, but I can't afford it or I would have to take out a loan to buy it.

VA panels may have better native contrast, but have really bad off-angle viewing. In contrast, Samsung's top tier non-OLED TVs are built on IPS panels. The Samsung Q80C, QN85C, and QN90C are all built on IPS panels. Dimming zones can compensate for IPS lower native contrast. I'm running a 65" QLED Hisense U6GR (Canada version). 2 years strong so far. Minor "dirty screen" when watching golf or hockey. No big deal in my opinion as it's great for movies. Only negative thing I would say is that this TV is very bright but watching Dolby Vision or HDR it seems to dim down a bit too much to make other colors pop more. But for the price I paid I can't complain.

@@richh650 Yea, I have never had a TV fail on me my entire life. Only replaced because the technology was outdated. Previous tv's were Sony, Hitachi or Toshiba. Had a Panasonic plasma previously too. I'm taking my chances on the Hisense brand but so far so good.

My 10 yr old lg 65" is duying... horizontal flicker.... so i dont want to spend a ton to replace it.. considering lg u70 or hisence or tcl...
I bought 2 different 65" tcl's from walmart for my oldest and his family because of price. "Roku models" both lasted under 6 months, both times horizantal lines then dead screens...
But keep hearing good things about both.. what would you suggest but keeping it cheap? I have had lg thin q etc for many years myself...

Hisense gives a two year warranty with their TVs vs. one year for other manufacturers. That tips me toward the U8K over the QM8.

I disagree. The big 3 (Sony, lg, Samsung) have higher quality control. LG also has 5 year parts & labour warranty. Samsung is my least favourite in terms of quality control.

Watch out for Google OS it is not up to speed and software updates basically do not occur after 6 months. My LG tv has had 10+ software updates in 3 years. I ha dto unplug my firestick from the HDMI port on the TCL 65s546 as it created a conflict as well yamaha receiver top audio brand would not function properly either. I have owned 6 LG Tv's that have all worked with my firesticks and Yamaha receiver or soundbars. Beware make sure you try this out in first week of owner ship or bring it back.

They are all a year. Anything more costs. Like LG's extended warranty. Which is why they sell it cause you need it.

I recently got a 55" TCL 835 to use for console gaming. It's pretty good but I'd say 95% of the time I have to re-enter my WiFi password. It just won't stick and it drives me crazy. Lucky that I rarely need it to connect to the internet but it annoys me just the same.

Have you had any blur issues in VRR? I’m looking to get the C805 which is the inbetween for c745 and c835 and a lot of people have been complaining about ghosting/blur with VRR turned on.

I am in the market for a 75. Having had a phone, TV and Refrigerator from Samsung and all having problems I say never Samsung. I would get LG but Google OS is required so probably get the TCL.

Were these not covered by warranty? I noticed Hisense sells an extended warranty up to 3 years as long as you buy within 90 days of purchase. I personally two people who had their Samsung TV's tank within 3 years. I doubt a Samsung bought in 2023 will last until 2039. You had gold right there.

I wouldn't touch Hisense with a barge pole. The H9G series came with a design/component flaw that caused the main board to fail consistently at around the 4 year mark. The cause was an eMMC storage chip that has poor performance when it's working, coupled with a short, erratic life. Hisense did absolutely nothing to help their customers, leaving us to pay for repairs that cost, through a mail-in repair depot, around $200 each time the wretched board failed. Of course I'm sure they've fixed the problem in later models, but after being hung out to dry by Hisense I'm not inclined to give them a second chance. Meanwhile, since my Hisense H9G will likely fail in another few years, I am looking elsewhere for TVs.

I have a 40 inch TCL from 2014 one of the HDMI ports went out in 2017 but it even after buying a new remote in 2019 it's still not bad for a Full HD TV. The Hisense TV that I upgraded to was a 43 inch 4k made in 2019 and it was great until I had to sell it. Not really an apples to apples but I like the fact Hisense didn't need a new remote or have HDMI port go out.
