I've loved Kate for so many years, but now I adore her. She's a geek, a nerd, someone who's curious and fascinated by nature in all its glory and ugliness. And a budding carpenter, to boot. I think we'd have been good friends back in Middle School.
Kate would be so proud of my 4-year-old daughter. We watched the class pet, a tarantula named Sophie. My daughter insisted the cage be next to her bed so she could be with Sophie
if the book has encapsulated any part of kate mckinnon's brain then im more than definitely getting it 😂😂😂😂 one of the most unique, loving and fascinating comedians alive
Yes!...good one!...she talked once about her sketch about a troll who lives under a bridge, and who just really wants a kiss from someone!😂❤...i love her!
The kids never say 'no' when you try to put a hissing cockroach on them. They say they're ready, and they freak out the second it moves, fling it to the ground, and run off into the big cat area, where the cats suddenly start thinking about lunch.
I wrote Kate a letter once. I wonder if she got it. I try to get my kids to watch Magic School Bus Rides Again so I can hear Kate. I wish I could be as cool as Kate❤😂
Kate needs to voice a documentary...the humor will make knowledge stick. Positive vibes from New Hampshire, remember to be kind to each other and yourself during these trying times.
This is tv gold, love their interplay, just wonderful. I’m a 55 yr young Irish woman who has thoroughly enjoyed the audio version of her book, lots of giggles listening to it. If you like Kate then you’ll love her book. I believe it’s suitable for all ages. I hope she writes more which will eventually become a tv series or movies!
It seems Seth's most amazing friends are comming over to cheer him up a little now that his live band and Fred Armisen are gone from the show. Poor Seth and wow Kate and Alex Moffat, what amazing people!
the last time I laughed so hard like i did after this interview was when Kate and Cecily Strong first did that skit on SNL about the French girls who ad lib morbid things into cat videos.
She is my soul mate. I don’t know anyone who loves weird creatures as much as I do. And building furniture (though I’ve only built kits). I wonder if she’d go see those deconstructed human bodies because I also don’t know anyone who would. I need a Kate in my life.
Oh God. I knew I loved her and now I know we are members of the same tribe. First my name is Cara, and my former roommate rescued a Madagascar hissing cockroach and his name was Max. Kate, I wish you could have joined us as conservation biologists in Grad school when all we talked about was cool crazy stuff we were learning about our particular study species. It was amazing and I miss it so much!
I play the (French) horn and can verify that the extra tubing is not needed. We use it to store (legal) drugs that we smoke during the long breaks in music when the string section goes to town with their screechy screechy.
When I was in middle school, I designed a science project that involved feeding white mice different types of diets to see if it caused weight gain over time. I just wanted the mice. Also, I have had a massive crush on Kate McKinnon for years, and every time she does a new project or interview, my crush only deepens.
She doesn't really drink, so I doubt she'd be up for it. But I'd love to see them go somewhere and get up to shenigans... like in Central Park or something.
I want to know who Kate would have liked to play in this election cycle if she was still in SNL. I think she'd make a great Tim Walz and her and Maya would be together.
We need her to get a job where is on camera, preferably with a live audience, on a regular basis. She is too good at this, and clearly feels at home in such an environment and seems to enjoy it. But 'just' acting in some movie or series would be fine also I guess :) I mean, no disrespect for the book of course, I'm sure it is quite the fun and potentially life changing experience, and I really like the premise of the story, but I'm not really the target audience for it :D
I learned about tardigrades from the second Cosmos series, the first narrated by Neil deGrasse Tyson, and from Martin Short via his cat in the hat character. And I know you were just kids when it happened but Martin Short was on SNL.
Ok hear me out. Because of all she said and how much she loves animals, I think she would be an amazing host for a national geographic nature documentary!
It's not self mating but self producing it is called parthenogenesis and is practically non viable in most creatures 😊 Also, the huge worm image with the mouth full of teeth; there was a Scandinavian outerspace TV series of the same creature.
I'm so not with the audience and I'm so with Kate on this one!! Madagascar hissing cockroaches are fascinating! Kate should get into biology in addition to woodworking, she can hang out with the other nerds who love amazing animals!
My name is Kara, and when i went apple picking on Saturday, I did so with you, your sister, and Hank (who came with the land...) all in mind!!! Hey what happens when too many tardigrades take up residence in a person's corpus callosum??? Love you!!!! 😘🤟🙏💙❣️ Also, the Feig version of Ghostbusters opening day is my birfday (got that from reading Leslie's book) 🎉🎉🎉
Also, CORRECTION The “French” horn is just called “Horn” by those in the know as it is more German than French. And the English horn is not English…but that’s just an extra tidbit so you don’t mess that up in the future and embarrass yourself by asking your graphics team to make a pic of Colin Firth playing the damn thing.
I cannot think of a whole movie for Kate, but the middle part is her (lesbian) in a car wreck, then coma wakes up 4 months pregnant, and it is the new Hey-seuss "maybe an angel came to tell me but I was asleep..."
I can see a complete Seth + Kate cicada + cockroach collab coming!! 🪲+🪳 (Ahhhhh, the alliteration: Seth's cicadas & Kate's cockroaches... certainly catchy!!)

Totally! I was already a fan and now even more! Can’t wait to get her book!
“She’s got like three or four danglers” is a sentence I never thought I’d hear.
Hey Brian. :)
That was one of the most enjoyable interviews I've seen in ages
I'm glad she's living her best woodsman life as she always wanted
I was almost expecting to hear the name Nick Offerman.
Who knew she was the carpenter of my dreams??
@@VictorianDad Right? I remember when she said she wanted to BE him!
I've always wanted to do woodworking, so I get it! I'm so glad Kate is a woodworker now... & Nick also - a master carpenter!
Seth, Thanks for working through your cold / flu / Covid to bring us continued joy and the genius of Zach Qunto and Kate McKinnon 🙏🏽
she carried SNL soooo long i really miss her a LOT :(
Same
That was the most enjoyable interview I have seen in a looooong time.
Kate would be so proud of my 4-year-old daughter. We watched the class pet, a tarantula named Sophie. My daughter insisted the cage be next to her bed so she could be with Sophie
I so dearly love this comedian, dearly.... and now she makes a
Kids book ... Bestill my heart !
But not *too* still. That has unpleasant aspects that could make your day worse...
@@davidg3944 tru dat... I had that happen two years ago.... No repeat allowed
@@motorblade Oops - sorry to hear that. Always a risk when making such a joke, that it turns out to be "not so jokey"...
Her work on SNL was so insanely good. Glad she can hang in the woods and find her carpentry bliss.
The story of Kate & Kara the cockroach-I felt that. 💜 Also the most perfect pitch for her book!
if the book has encapsulated any part of kate mckinnon's brain then im more than definitely getting it 😂😂😂😂 one of the most unique, loving and fascinating comedians alive
Kate and Seth together? Chef’s kiss.
I'd love to see a Second Chance Theater for one of Kate's unused sketches
Ooh I second that!!
Yes!...good one!...she talked once about her sketch about a troll who lives under a bridge, and who just really wants a kiss from someone!😂❤...i love her!
I could listen to Kate McKinnon talking about weird nature stuff forever.
I just paused this video to order the book! The audiobook preview is really funny!
So you won't get to see the illustrators work
@@GorillaGalMarg I ordered the hardback version as well, because I read better when I can see and hear it at the same time!
The kids never say 'no' when you try to put a hissing cockroach on them. They say they're ready, and they freak out the second it moves, fling it to the ground, and run off into the big cat area, where the cats suddenly start thinking about lunch.
I wouldn't have just said no, I would have not entered the roach motel in the first place. Absolutely not, in any way.
In a parallel universe, Kate works for the zoo and does the animal education programs. 😊
And gets really excited to show off the custom habitats she builds for them.
I mean she voiced a PBS show about nature 🤣
Kate, I had Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches in high school as well. I suspect you will never see this, but congrats on finishing the book!
"Hey Brian! You're up!"
I wrote Kate a letter once. I wonder if she got it. I try to get my kids to watch Magic School Bus Rides Again so I can hear Kate. I wish I could be as cool as Kate❤😂
you are. you're a mommy. pretty much as cool as can be.
@@SDPen45 Being so loved is bittersweet. I will survive motherhood.

Wait, they're gone? I only watch clips here on YT so I didn't know!
Those damn Angler Danglers!
Maybe they were originally named by the French: D'Angler Fish and the name got truncated.
the last time I laughed so hard like i did after this interview was when Kate and Cecily Strong first did that skit on SNL about the French girls who ad lib morbid things into cat videos.
I say "boi-oi-oing, ze cat is dying" so often
When is Kate McKinnon's Nature Series starting? I'm here for it.
Kate's geeky knowledge is cute and amazing and she needs to be protected at all costs.
She is my soul mate. I don’t know anyone who loves weird creatures as much as I do. And building furniture (though I’ve only built kits). I wonder if she’d go see those deconstructed human bodies because I also don’t know anyone who would. I need a Kate in my life.
I think she is legit one of the funniest people ever to walk the planet. Up there with Gilda, Wiig, the greats.
I had no idea about the angler fish!! Cool!

you brassholes and your big brass privilege
She is literally the coolest and I want to be friends with her and giggle with her
Kate is so weird. I LOVE it lol
Thank you so much. GOD BLESS ALWAYS

I love this so much. This will be the next attack story for Vance. Oh, you have a problem with me being a childless cat lady?! Hold my aquarium.....

Also, I have had a massive crush on Kate McKinnon for years, and every time she does a new project or interview, my crush only deepens.
I hope she's having a great time, because she's getting to do a book tour where she goes and hangs out with her friends for a while, like Seth.
Kate's just funny. Doesn't try to be funny, she just is.
She and this book are like Tim Burton meets Rachel Carson.
Best weird Barbie ever
I love this!
Love Kate
I'd love to see her and Seth go day drinking 😂
She doesn't really drink, so I doubt she'd be up for it. But I'd love to see them go somewhere and get up to shenigans... like in Central Park or something.
Great info on the Angler fish!!!
"So that's why i wrote the book" - excellent 😂
She is so funny I miss her so much on SNL 😢

I think she'd make a great Tim Walz and her and Maya would be together.
6:48 "That's a big, gorgeous cockroach"
Will the operatic Madagascar Hissing Cocroach be a supporting actor in Cicada Cicahda?
We need her to get a job where is on camera, preferably with a live audience, on a regular basis. She is too good at this, and clearly feels at home in such an environment and seems to enjoy it.

I just want these two to go day drinking
She's my girl crush for real ❤
Kate McKinnon, never fails to make me laugh.
Woohoo! First to comment! I love Kate and I love all the SNL ladies from her era, they are all amazing!
Missed opportunity:
3:15 "Do you know about the deep sea angler fish?"
"yes, they share some traits in common with migrating tree frogs."
Correction: Water Bears or Moss Piglets, not Water Piglets
Beat me to it by a couple hours.
Animal Flub!
Kinda like Water Piglet better.
Kate McKinnon is weird.
I like that.
I want to see her drawings now.
Her and David Sadaris should collaborate together 😂😊
Ok hear me out. Because of all she said and how much she loves animals, I think she would be an amazing host for a national geographic nature documentary!
i love McKinnon
Parthenogenesis, great word, Kate McKinnon, great person
Kate McKinnon REALLY is “Weird Barbie”. Ha ha ha ga

The angler fish sounds like Natasha Lyonne 😅
these animal facts are very vlogbrothers coded

Correction for the audience - not one acknowledge of the mention of a tartigrade
*Kate, may I bring to your attention the Blanket Octopus, nature's most extreme example of sexual dimorphism.* The males are walnut sized.
👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑of alllll timeeeeeeee

Danglers Ho!
😍
Tardigrades are small, but the weigh a tun.
Yeah, you need the whole damn French horn to make it work!
I'm so not with the audience and I'm so with Kate on this one!! Madagascar hissing cockroaches are fascinating! Kate should get into biology in addition to woodworking, she can hang out with the other nerds who love amazing animals!
My son wound up with three hissing cockroaches from high school and everyone, including him, hated them. Two of them died and the third disappeared. 😬
Kate should sue the whole team of Dune, they clearly copied his first wormish drawing
"Parthenogenesis" is when the gods fertilize an egg and no male was involved in conception. BTW no scrotum joke on that condor's neck wattle? COME ON
😃
Big black nemesis. Parthenogenisis.
Beat me to it
I'd bet she could do a great Amy Poehler.

First finally 🍻
Confess, how many of you went on to google anglerfish with males attached? I did.
Hillary Clinton?😮
The french horn is 12 feet long. So it's better in a rolled up shape, yeah...
I don't think Kate had a lot of friends growing up...
Cockroaches are friends!!
