Thin side of the rod goes towards the camshaft..... They are a rotated bottom type rod to accommodate for the 16hp. being bored off center as to be a stronger bottom end due to the offset. So now you have the bottom rotated even further off kilter and the bottom cap of the rod oil hole on the opposite side it needs to be. That's the main hole that oils the bearing.
It won't be on my channel the guy who's tractor it's for hasn't gotten the rest of the parts and is in no hurry now to get them so it will probably just sit
@@PullerbearEdhey buddy just watched the video thanks for sharing I have a question if you wouldn’t mind answering what’s the torque for the oil pan bolts .thank
Growing old waiting on parts 🙄 I should have been done mowing a week ago. but they sent the wrong belt. I told them i needed a V Belt 5/8" x 70" > they sent a dam 97" 🤪
Wondering what state you are in ? Liked the video , i have a K321 engine that need worked on , sleaved and the crank shaft needs help with a clevite bearing installed its at max wear right now
I'm in Ohio. At this point I am not doing engine builds because the cost of the machine work has gone stupid high. I'm looking for a trust worthy shop but they are getting hard to find at a reasonable price. As for the crank unless you are using the engine for some type of power sport I would find a good used one.
can any one help i have kohler 321-s with bad valve spring retaner lost all balls and springs can you buy these or just add shims to take up where balls used to be?

I'm glad you were able to get the k301 back together
Me too, but I hate not being able to hear it run but I can only do what is asked of me.
I was waiting to see how you set the valve clearance... I guess I will just have to check my manual.... Good work!
On these kohler engines there is an adjuster on the top of the lifter you can move to get the clearance you need.
@@PullerbearEd Many thanks!
Good job Ed, looking forward to seeing it spinning. 👍

Never had a problem like that putting rings in. I just push the piston in. With the ring sleeve
I don't usually have a problem but the crank was in just the right position and I turned the rod just enough that it caught.

Lol, I'm already old...I ordered an oil filter for the Briggs on the toter and it's so small the shop lost the first one so they had to reorder it.
