My big surprise doing reselling is how little my family supports me. Everyone in my life thinks im selling trash and wasting my life. Hard to stay motivated to list pushing back against such negativity. Even when i have good sales my family is always pressuring me to donate everything and get a job.

We have friends of the family who became millionaires due to owning lots of real estate. The husband didn't learn to read and write until his granddaughter was around 2nd grade and struggling to read due to dyslexia. He and his granddaughter did the Hooked on Phonics program together. Dyslexia ran in the family....grandfather, son, and granddaughter all have/had it. The grandma handled all book work and would read things to her husband when necessary. He also worked as a stevedore on the docks of San Diego. But, like Josh said, he worked hard, showed up on time, and was honest and kind in all his dealings.

As a designer and brick and mortar store owner that has vendors, I do everything possible to help my vendors stage their booths to help their items to sell.
Reason for saying that🤣 is that I think y'all should put risers or low shelves on the table that is below your booth sign, in order to put your stuff up higher, so that when people are just walking past your booth, they can see the items that are on that table😊

11 months reselling to where my mother, wife and son all sell things through my online store. The worth it moments are those of an item that a buyer has a personal connection with. Beanie Babies to Africa thru a missionary. A pillow pet for a boy with two separate households and a women replacing a hat that was a security blanket. Thank you again for the house flip challenge. That's what motivated me to resell.

My spouse is a veterinarian and we own a veterinary clinic. I am a part-time reseller and full-time Practice Manager at our clinic. We started the clinic from scratch 14 years ago. We now have 4 doctors and 15 staff. It’s hard work. One of the hardest things of all is staffing and morale. If your staff isn’t happy, your clients won’t be happy. Put as much money and training into your staff as possible and the rest will come.
Regarding your comment about health insurance (you may already know this), if you employ one person (not a spouse) full-time, you are eligible to get and offer group health insurance. It is quite a bit less money with much better coverage. Find an insurance broker that offers group health in your area. The broker doesn’t cost you a dime and handles everything.

That support you want when you start your own business is rarely there.my husband and I opened a business in 1974 and quit his regular job which was well paying. We had started it part time a couple of years earlier and already making money. We were prepared with no house payment and savings and we agreed if it didn’t work, he would get another job. My mother was the only family member who thought we were right. My husband was 43 and his job was going to kill him with stress. He was never happier in his life after that. I think people mostly don’t take care of the business part. You can’t just concentrate on the fun things and have to remember that you aren’t on vacation so you will work harder than ever.

I fully agree about the amount of work it take. My wife and I have two small businesses. One is our eBay store, which we started during the beginning of COVID, and the other is our wax melt, candle, and other home fragrance business, started at the height of COVID. Which we are pouring our hearts and souls into and it is gaining traction and quickly becoming a regional favorite in our area. We feel that we need to hire someone to help the fragrance business, but just not quite ready to pull the trigger, because we are still working out of our home. Plus, I am still working a full-time job plus overtime as an industrial mechanic, because of the guaranteed pay and benefits that my wife needs. I'm a disabled veteran, so I have the VA. However, I work the industrial job, for my wife's health benefits.
Are y'all going to rent this house or flip? Last I knew, y'all were going to rent.

After reading some comments, I agree with the fact that family doesn't support what I do. I resell as a hobby, not to put food on my table. Even as a hobby I get negative comments from my husband all the time. Another comment I agree with is the sweet and exciting sound of the cash register when you make a sale on Ebay.

I have to say how much more I like the phone recording because the Go Pro’s warp your faces and bodies. Just something I often think about. Love you guys!

Great info guys! I gotta flip my way to get to your level. I'm still flipping shoes and still enjoy it! Def need to get over the fear of running my own business full time. I am "working" my 9-5 as I watch your video. Lol. Maybe actually working 30% of the time today.

What we wish we knew about reselling before we started is that it's not as easy as some youtubers make it seem. We got caught up in the world wind of reselling content, and completely ignored the fact that TH-cam resellers(for the most part) only show you the highs of reselling. Even demographics plays a role. We see some resellers go to Goodwills like its their a honey hole, but for us, Goodwills aren't even an option if we want to be successful. That's how dry Goodwills are in our city. We've learned we have to pave our own way and not compare ourselves to other resellers, and we've been doing pretty good so far.

Many thrift stores have dried up since the pandemic. Even yard sales are way down in places (in number of sales and quality of items available).

Greetings from Rock Hill, SC. I was in Columbia this past Wednesday and stopped in to see your booth. The booth looks great! I recognized so much that I have seen in your videos. I signed your book, but didn't have a quarter to get a gumball, haha!

Good job guys. I’ve just recently got into reselling and I’d have to say the hardest part for me forsure is staying motivated to make listings.
