What’s the best kind of engine to achieve high torque at low RPMs? I’ve become an expert at making high revving DOHC engines, but now I want to learn more about making an engine similar to what’s in the new Passat It’s a 2.0 turbo with all of its torque at 2,000rpm and it’s horsepower is available at around 5k rpm All of my DOHC engines want to apply all of the torque at 4-5k rpm They normally have better pull on top end, but their take off power from a dead stop is sluggish
Use smaller turbo, low cams and restricted exhaust. I get in this way 2.0 litre engine with huge torque below 2000 rpm. Ofcourse maximum power wasn't impresive

0:00 - 2:28 What background music was this? Btw, the reason I ask is because I like the sound of it. And also, nice video but unfortunately it is outdated not to be rude or anything.
@@Pathofevil1cod buddy, I know what truck engines are like, those are typically medium duty truck engines (4+ liter engines). What I was trying to say is, a diesel would typically get it's torque peak at 50% or so of the rev range (0 to redline) which in this case would mean 2700 / 2 = 1350 rpm, while if I remember correctly without watching the video, the torque peak is at 1700 rpm or so which is not normal for a diesel. Just saying.
You still play this game and do these? Wanting someone else’s opinions I have 3 so far, a 2l eco diesel(similar to your TDi build), a 5L I6 diesel, and a 5.6l V8 diesel.
I mean it's nice sound, but most diesel engines can rev higher, up to 5k rpms even, this is more like a truck engine. Anyways the sound is exactly like diesel.
Even if you could get 5000 RPM, you wouldn't have a use for it. With the the 5.9 and 6.7 Cummins turbo diesel and most direct injection diesels of the time, horsepower peaks around 3000 RPM, and sometimes less than that. Prechamber engines such as the GMC 6.5 and Ford IDI turned a few RPM more, and might peak around 3400 RPM, but that still means revving to 5000 RPM is pointless. Compact car diesels do rev higher, however, going to 5000 RPM is usually not needed. The tiny 1.5L and 1.6L Volkswagen rabbits with prechambers needed it, and some Benz and BMW prechamber engines might need to go to 4500 RPM. Once direct injection and computers took over, those engines tended to reach max HP at 3800 RPM, and anything over 4200 RPM was pointless. I think sequntial compact turbos like the M5 550D do benefit from going to 5000 RPM, but I doubt this program can support sequential turbos and can't support more than 2 turbos on a 6 cylinder engine.
