I agree with you both. I type a comment and realize it sounds like I'm kissing up but I mean what I say. I turn my phone on and if she has videos i watch. She is talented , has good opinions, and she is fun.
I'm working on an afghan that a friend's mother started before she died. We don't know what yarn she was using but opted for adding an ombre from ♥️. It's actually working up extremely pretty.
Hi Crystal, I agree with you. The Red Heart is beautiful & the gradual change is awesome. Didn't know Caron had an ombre . I want to collect all the colors. My Walmart recently had 2 colors they didn't before; Green Apple & Baja Blue. Wish they would carry them all so I could buy them all up, lol.
Agree, red heart has been around for years, dated. Too, you can rely on the colors not fading out. Love the colors hate the scratch. But! Must Venture on .... Keep the reviews coming Crystal
Yes, I knew You had done a "Yarn Comparison Review" on these 2 Ombre Yarn's & I finally found it again 🥰❤! Thank You so very, very much Crystal 🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤!!!
Hi Crystal. These types of videos you do for us are very informative, in my humble opinion. I truly think these yarn manufacturers need to hire you as a consultant. You are always a wealth of information pros and cons. Take good care and have a great day.
I was working on a blanket with red heart. My hands started getting really bad with a skin condition that I have. I ran out of yarn and had to put that project to the side. I just started back up and now my hands are broke out again. I've come to realize it has to be the yarn. Not sure why it does this.
Anonymous Amy a lot of yarns are coated with something like starch to help keep the yarn from splitting and make it firmer to work with. This is why it softens up so much when washed. Maybe you are reacting to that. I have had my chest break out in welts from yarn but it wasn’t RH Super Saver. It was Bernat Value maybe.
I didn’t know Yarnspirations bought Red Heart! (Shows you how behind the times I am). Little birdie told me using Super Saver Ombré is a great choice, just soak it in a bin with some hair conditioner and then rinse and lay flat/block. Softens it right up. I like your yarn comparison talks. Very helpful to deciding on what will work for my next project.
Thank you Crystal, for sharing all your talents with us. I for one am very appreciative! I made a baby blanket for a friend out of the RH about a year ago and the blanket has held up beautifully after many, many washings. Her baby loves it and takes it every where with him and sleeps with it clutched in his little hand. So another plus for RH is it's durability. Who doesn't love that?
Short Answer: Ifound this yarn comparison SUPER helpful. Please do more. Thank you for this one esp since I'm constantly trying to pick between the two brands. Very Long Answer: I'm primarily a knitter who wants to learn to crochet for myself and when I'm able, volunteer again at my library running the knitting groups. It's now listed as open time to come and relax with your projects, knit and crochet. So, I need to learn how to crochet and knowing what yarns work successfully is a huge part of that. I had almost entirely new people, so it was less a group and more teaching new students to knit. I lured them to my side with delicious cookies and the fact I can't crochet well enough to teach it. I even taught a 1st Grade little boy how to finger knit and made an 🐙 octopus 🐙 from his pieces. I had candy🍬 and we used the soft Carron yarn I owned for that. Mostly we used my Super I used the Red ❤️ Heart, in a solid color, for teaching new knitters because it was cheap and had a lot of colors. ( I'm disabled and immunocompromised in my 30s. I live with my parents, and am not on disability yet. Luckily, I could go home and nap between my two groups.) I volunteered for almost two years, twice a month for most of the day, teaching and bribing people with Free Supplies; donated knitting needles that could be "checked out" plus enough yarn to make a quilt square. Also, cookies and coffee or tea. I tried using the donations, but almost always was using my own yarn to teach with and send a small ball home with my students, since the other yarn was more difficult to work with. ...🤔Probably because it was from the 80's, like me, making it 35 year old fuzzy acrylic pretending and failing to be imitation mohair. It was Red ❤️Heart, to my shock. I've made some pretty flowers and a shawl from that Millennial Red ❤️ Heart yarn and it had been decorating the knitting section. Hopefully it's ok and doesn't feel abandoned. 🤣😘 A student picked out the shawl pattern and we did a small knit-a-long of two. My health has deteriorated over the last few years. I had to stop volunteering, which I adored, then driving, walking with a cane, with a walker, until I've become bed ridden for over a year. SO, I can't get out and feel new yarns, compare colors between brands and prices. It's why this video was so helpful. I've always loved the softness of the Caron, but the multi colors were actually less yardage and difficult for new Knitters. So I'm excited to see the Ombrè (Stripes) in a bigger amount. I do a lot of Warm Up America squares and use that as my first "project" for my new knitters. I always use the Red Heart because it stays on the needles much better than the softer Caron, which slides right off. Sadly, the old ombres didn't work well for new knitters since fast color changes every few stitches was super distracting... BUT Seeing you squish the yarn and compare the gradual changes in the Red ❤️ Heart make me know my more advanced knitters can use it; while I can get a lot of preemie hats and mitts out of the Caron planning ahead on the striping effect. Just as soon as I can ☺️ SO PRETTY PLEASE, keep these comparison videos up. Stay safe and Thank You!
Your story is neat! Sorry you are bed ridden now! I am very limited right now to, to where I can barely even crochet. I’ve had a recent surgery to help block pain in lower areas but the pain blocker programs r not working, still trying to find one that will. Then I’ll need a similar surgery on my brain!! To block tremors!! So I have a bit to go. When I can get out I’ve bought yarns at Joann’s n Dollar Tree.. I was thinking perhaps you could do one on one teaching in your room with just one person. You’d still be teaching!!! You could have a tea time too! Just a thought! It’s workable, perhaps!
@@valferguson8322 That's actually an excelent idea and I hadn't considered it. I hope your health improves. Tremors are terrible. I actually have developed non epileptic seizures in the last few years, so I empathize. Sending happy thoughts and healing 😍
@@bohemianmiss6282 I’m having the tremor surgery thru UCLA in CA. It helps with any seizures also. My Dr is Dr Bari. You might want to contact the surgery center there n discuss it. I think they could help you… But surely think on doing the one on one teaching idea!!!
I always do red heart for the same reasons: cheaper and much better color blending transitions. I like how soft Caron is compared to it, but red heart gets softer after washing, like you said.
Just made a tote with RH Ombre in Baja Blue. Absolutely Love the color and color change but not only found it a bit stiff but it split a bit too. Even so, I would stick with RH because I do love their coloring so much.
Red heart isn't as soft to crochet with BUT once you make your project give it a warm soak in some fabric conditioner and it will become super soft. Its as tough as old boots as yarn goes and a fab go to yarn for so many projects. It will come into its own when softened with conditioner.
I love the red heart ombré that is my go to ombré and what you had to say is great and probably what most thought but didn’t want to say although I don’t work with red heart as much as I used to it is still one of my favorites it is a workhorse made to last forever and I love that about it
Crystal, I just bought a lot of the Red Heart super saver and the super saver ombre, I'm making baskets and using three strings together and it makes the basket stand up very well. I'm also mixing solids and Ombre together and love the way it turns out. I have mixed Love this yarn with it but I noticed that as long as at least two of the colors are of super saver it turns out much better. Enjoy hearing your review as always. Thank you for the time you give to us. Pat
Thanks for the tip. This is a great use for the super saver since it's quite a scratchy yarn. So are you mixing 2 red heart solids with 1 ombre? If so, are the 2 solids the same color or different colors that fit within the ombre range (1 lighter and 1 darker shade of the ombre colors)?
I prefer the red heart for color. Caron Jumbo for Softness and thickness. I love it it feels good to crochet with! 🧶. I have both in my stash!! The red heart pink is so pretty and the blue one too!!!
When I make a blanket/afghan it of RedHeart, I soak it in the washer in Downy before I wash it. Then wash as normal and it usually softens it up quite a bit! I love their colors too! So glad you are doing comparisons again! Love your channel!!!!
Red heart ombre would be my choice. Caron looks more like stripes. Enjoyed your new entry picture. The crown firs you. My eyes you are the queen of crochet channels.
thank you for your honest opinion that is what we like about you you give it to us straight I still love red heart for the price and its colors but you showed me other yarns and I appreciate you for that I can always count on you to give me an honest opinion and you still encourage us to go try for our selves again Thank you keep the yarn reviews and the comparison videos coming
Love how Red Hearts Ombre colors blend, but the ply of it seems to seperate alot when crocheting! Caron Ombre crochets up easy but doesn't blend as well as Red Heart....
Yes, the Red Heart ombre yarn drove me crazy with the way it constantly split the only time I ever made a project with it. I don't think I will ever use that yarn again because of it.
I wonder if the ‘roughness and splitting’ will stop now that Yarnspirations is in charge. I have noticed a definite difference in the textures of RH...
Really glad to hear some good comments on Red Heart. I learned to knit on it as it was pretty much the only yarn available in a small town dime store....the only place I had to shop. Still use it...it might pill but it never wears out. Thanks for the comparison.
Hi Crystal 🌷 Thank you for this comparison. After you make a project with a soft yarn and then start another using Red Heart it feels so scratchy however like you I know it will soften up and it never disappoints on how the project turns out 👍 Take care and see you soon. 🇺🇸 🇨🇱 💕
Hi Crystal I don't commit on all of your videos but I do love the redheart ombre supersaver I am very glad that you are doing these videos they mean a lot to me you stay safe as well thank you
I know I watched and liked this comparison of yarns but it was a while ago. I just bought the red heart super saver ombre in true blue to make a ripple Afghan 😀🧶, so happy I came across this video again 👍.
Love ur new intro!! I have seen many instructors make shawls and other things with the RH Ombre and also everyone that uses it says they love how beautiful their projects turn out. One thing I read either on the label or online said that the color repeat is twice for one skein. So if u need more than one skein, you will have to try and match up those center colors..lol. thanks for the review. 💜
Currently I'm working on an Afghan using Red heart super saver ombre ☆green apple. I love the way the color changes, and its true it's not the most softest yarn but after a wash it gets way softer..
I have only used the red heart and LOVE IT. I am making my 2nd baby blanket and have made a few hat and scarf sets. Everytime i show someone my project I get a new request. LOL
Made blue and yellow blanket from Super Saver Ombre Red Heart. "Feather and Fan" Fiber Spider tutorial. Beautiful blanket. Beautiful yarn. Glory to Ukraine! I, also, made a blanket C2C from Caron Ombre. Got a very nice warm blanket.
Always learn something new in ur channel, I also love best RH ombre, have done quite few projects w/this yarn & have to say have turned out just beautifully especially when I follow ur tutorials, thanks always Crystal for ur informative always enjoy ur uarn comparison along w/all ur teaching 💗
I have to agree with you that the super saver looks the best!! I haven't used them, but just from the pictures you showed.... it looks just like you said! Thank you so much for sharing your opinion with us! Please take care and stay safe and healthy 💕💗
Hello crystal I love everything you do. Can you please do a tutorial on the lost in time shawl. You are such a wonderful teacher and I know with you showing how to crochet it I can pick it up easily. They are all pretty much in foreign languages. You are clear, precise and you make everything easy to understand. Again love all your work. ❤️
You make me laugh! This was an informative video!!! You are a pro on yarn I value your opinion! Do what you love and you never work a day in your life! Thanks so much!🌻
I have only used Red Heart Super Saver Ombra from your recommendation...it does blend beautifully. I made your Poncho for my brother. He loved it...thank you!
Crystal I love your new intro the colors are beautiful they remind me of Evelyn. Thank you for the info on the ombres red heart and Caron both of them are beautiful.
Hi Crystal. Pray you are safe and healthy! I love the Ombre Yarn. Red heart is my favorite also. I found a new one called Big Twist and I love working with this one! Big Twist is kinda textured but also soft!
Ive never tried the Caron Ombre but the Red Heart Super Saver Ombre is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE yarns. I made a very simple oversized sweater (the pattern is called the Everyday Cardigan & can be found on TH-cam with a vid tutorial and a written) in the grey ombre color. I cant tell you how many ppl compliment that cardigan. Everyone thinks it was so difficult and compliment my skill level and quality but little do they know the yarn did all the hard work (the only 3 stitches in the entire pattern are the half-double, front post & back post). You are SO RIGHT about the color change in Red Heart. Its absolutely gorgeous and the color change comes so subtley that no matter what youre making it always looks like a perfect switch. Even if it happens in the middle of a row it still appears seemless. I cannot express how much I LOVE the Red Heart Ombre. If they ever discontinue it ill be truly heart broken.
I’m with you Crystal. I love the red heart ombré the best. I made a mandala vest in red heart ombré blue and I have some red heart ombré brown to do something else with. It washed up nicely. Thanks
I didn't even know they had other ombres.... Will have to check those out... Thank you for the info regarding the buyout... Love the yarns and yes red heart is the most vivid colors For the ombre...
I perfur the Red Heart Super Saver Ombre over the Caron Ombre. The colors in the Red Heart are more prettier. I'm making a shawl right now, with RH Ombre. 💜💜💜 it. Thank you for sharing this Crystal. Enjoy your day 💜🤗🙏🧶🐕🐾
Great comparison; thanks! Summer 2024: I'm making a small throw from Caron Jumbo in color Whitewater and I love it so far! For this color, I like the white section because it reminds me of the foam on top of waves or rushing water, so I think it works with the water-tone blues. In some colors like the oranges, probably not so much, though. I do like the softness too. I also like that even the shorter runs of colors are still long enough for several rows so the throw doesn't look blotchy as with some that change more frequently. And so far (fingers crossed), no joining knots in the skeins. Edit to add: Got it with a promo code at Joann's for $7 a skein which is a bargain for almost 600 yds. I've used Red Heart and do find that after washing and drying it becomes a little softer. I've not tried an ombre in it yet but likely will. Love your videos; God bless!
Hey Crystal, found this old review! I agree w/you!!!, Redheart may feel stiff but definitely softens up in the wash w/fabric softener n several dryer sheets!! Very pretty colors to choose from!!! Much more for your $$$$ I feel, also… Easier to find… A BIG PLUS!!!! All Redheart is nice
I love red heart ombre colour effect. I personally worked with the grey ombre in an Afghan for my daughter it was just gorgeous. Thanks for the comparison.
I have every color of the Red Heart ombres, most purchased online from Joanns. The rest I got from Walmart, buying every skein in the store. (I know . . . I have a problem.) Love the yarn haul videos. I can get my yarn fix vicariously thru you.
Dont underestimate how informative the information is from you comparisons. It was very informative. I cant tell you how many times I have come to you to find out what exactly is the difference in one or the other in yarns. I would buy the Red Heart too...just because of the colors as you said
That was really interesting Crystal. I didn't know that Yarnspirations was Canadian and owned Red Heart and Caron. I like them both, but yes Red heart is a true ombre. I really enjoyed this - especially after teaching all day. It was so nice to relax and enjoy and learn something new xx
I watch Crystal so much in 2020 she feels like family
Totally agree with you. I feel like I really know her and value her opinions and tutorials.

Red Heart Ombré is actually an ombré.....the new Caron just looks like stripe...pretty stripes, but still stripes 🤷🏻♀️
Anxiety Girl I totally agree! Doesn’t look ombré to me either.
totally agree.
I would call the Caron more of the old variegated that I used for that ripple afghan.
👍
Agree, red heart has been around for years, dated. Too, you can rely on the colors not fading out. Love the colors hate the scratch. But! Must Venture on .... Keep the reviews coming Crystal
I prefer softer. I quit buying Red Heart years ago when Hobby Lobby came to town and I discovered there was yarn out there that was not scratchy. 😍

THAT INTRO!!!! KILLING IT!!! That’s so amazing I’m in love with it!!!
I agree with you that red heart has the better ombré colour, however the scratchy feel really bugs my hands.
Try putting the skein in a nylon then toss it in a warm dryer for a few. That softens it some to work with.
Shelley Dancel sane. My hands and my hooks 🤦🏽♀️🙁

Shelley Dancel it dose become nice and soft after washing though!

Hair conditioner DOES make it soft!!! That's how I do my projects made with Red Heart.
Seabunny Voyager also soak in fabric softener!
Thank you for this. They are affordable great colors but so rough. I will try. Does it soften when washed?
RH Ombré Hot Sauce and RH Ombré gray are THE BEST ombré I’ve ever seen. Hot Sauce is slightly harder to find but it’s available online.
Ombré red heart is truly an amazing ombré.
I have used the Red Heart ombre to crochet waffle stitch hats with a pattern from fiber spider and wow do they ever turn out amazing!

I used that for a blanket and everyone says it looked like a watermelon rind.
@@jseidel70js
I'm sure for the way the yarn changes color
I have only used the red heart and LOVE IT. I am making my 2nd baby blanket and have made a few hat and scarf sets. Everytime i show someone my project I get a new request. LOL
Thanks Crystal I agree with you about the color change of the Red Heart. I made an afghan in their grey ombre.
I love Red Heart Ombre! The colors are so pretty and everything I've made with it turned out great!
Loved the comparison. And the new Bag o Day motifs is awesome. Watching here late, mind racing and not sleepy.
Crystal I love your new intro the colors are beautiful they remind me of Evelyn. Thank you for the info on the ombres red heart and Caron both of them are beautiful.
Yes I agree the red heart ombré is my favorite for your bobble scarf
Hi Crystal, thank you for this video. The colors are beautiful, but i agree that the Red Heart has a better ombre effect👍
Thanks
I agree. I love RH ombre colors. I have to get a few of the Caron to try it. Thanks for the review. I had no idea the Caron was even available.
Thanks for bringing these comparisons back.
I like red heart ombré yarn. Very pretty yarn. Thank you Crystal
I love my red heart super saver yarns It stays bright and smooth and last for years
I agree Crystal, my preference is the Red Heart Ombre because of the gradual color fade...🧶💛 Thank you...😊
I didn't even know they had other ombres.... Will have to check those out... Thank you for the info regarding the buyout... Love the yarns and yes red heart is the most vivid colors For the ombre...
I have tried both and love both red heart for colors and yarnspriations jumbo for softness and I do love the colors too!! I have both in my stash!!!
I have used both, I would agree with you Crystal. I love the subtle color change. However, it depends upon what I am crocheting at the time.
Hi Crystal!! I agree with you on the RHSS OMBRE about color. I have used the RHSS Ombre yarn and I really like it. Especially the green apple. 👍😊
Availability and colors makes red heart the best. Thanks Crystal! Great video!
I have missed the yarn comparison videos. Thanks Crystal for educating us on yarns. My son-in-law wants an Afghan but definitely not with Red Heart.
Hey Crystal, found this old review! I agree w/you!!!, Redheart may feel stiff but definitely softens up in the wash w/fabric softener n several dryer sheets!! Very pretty colors to choose from!!! Much more for your $$$$ I feel, also…
Easier to find…
A BIG PLUS!!!!
All Redheart is nice
I love red heart ombre colour effect. I personally worked with the grey ombre in an Afghan for my daughter it was just gorgeous. Thanks for the comparison.
I like your point of view on the yarns. I love Caron , but I see your point of view. Thank you for the video
I have every color of the Red Heart ombres, most purchased online from Joanns. The rest I got from Walmart, buying every skein in the store. (I know . . . I have a problem.) Love the yarn haul videos. I can get my yarn fix vicariously thru you.
I’m working on a project with the red heart ombré in gray, I really like the yarn, the transitions are nice and smooth
Dont underestimate how informative the information is from you comparisons. It was very informative. I cant tell you how many times I have come to you to find out what exactly is the difference in one or the other in yarns. I would buy the Red Heart too...just because of the colors as you said
Thanks Quinell 🥰
@@BAGODAYCROCHET you're more than welcome and thank you for all that you do!
Sweet...I was so curious about the difference in these yarns. Thanks Crystal for sharing🌻
Crystal, I am like you I use a lot of Ombre, like the way it flows in the colors.
I like the red heart super saver ombre yarn it's awesome. I got a bit obsessed with it.
Thanks for letting us know that yarnsinparations fought caron yarns. Love your comparison's. Have an wonderful week.
Definitely love RHSS Ombre!!
I agree both beautiful and all depends on what you're going to make...
That was really interesting Crystal. I didn't know that Yarnspirations was Canadian and owned Red Heart and Caron. I like them both, but yes Red heart is a true ombre. I really enjoyed this - especially after teaching all day. It was so nice to relax and enjoy and learn something new xx
I agree with you! The Red heart does blend as an ombre very well. I made myself a blanket with it and it does soften up. I love it!
Hi Crystal, i really like the red heart ombre. But i didn't know Caron had a ombre. I used the stripes all the time and love it. 😍🌹🌹🌻🌻🎉🎊
