I love these tips! For me it's never been a big deal where an ombre project transitions because I feel it gives the project character but it's nice that you can go through and pick how it will transition!
I love knowing this. I think this video might well be the bestest information I've ever gotten. Now I need to get that OMBRE yarn so I can work this out. I LOVE IT ❤️
Why do I always feel like I'm Beavis and or butthead laughing at some of the things you say stuff like an arm full of balls lmao and I'm like why is he so funny?!?! Am I twelve?! Well the answer to that is , mentally, yes. I am 12. Haha ❤ you
That's so cool. It was when I learned to knit socks at the beginning of the year that I even heard of manipulating the yarn. Crocheting 40 years and it's just now? Haha, not completely true. I did pull variegated to a matching spot when I'd start a new skein. For socks it was about starting at the same point in the yarn for each sock to have matching stripes . I love the idea of using these tips in my knit and crochet. Thank you!
Mikey, you are the master!!! You are a genius when it comes to understanding how those colors and stitches just flow together. Like a beautiful river. Thank you for everything you have taught me through the years.
I tried to disect a ball of this back in 2019 and had a heck of a time trying to separate the colors. Now that you've shared that there should only be five steps of color, maybe I can try again. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, Mackey nice tips. Thought only 3 colors but I see what u mean, thanks so much for this much needed lesson, will definitely try to do this on my next project. 😊 😘
EVERY VIDEO I watch of yours Mikey, I learn all these little tidbits. I can't thank you enough for sharing your wealth of knowledge! Sure thankful for your obsession with yarn!
Thank you, Mikey! Ha ha! I guessed only two colors! 🤷🏼♀️🥴 I have some Red Heart SS Ombre Yarn but haven't used it yet. Thank you for these tips I can apply to tie in the colors when I use this beautiful yarn! I love watching all your videos, love your tips! Your tutorials are the best... So in-depth, explicit and thorough that even an inexperienced crocheter can achieve fabulous results! Love your gorgeous baby blanket, too! The Crochet Crowd is one of the first channels I ever watched on TH-cam and it's still fantastic! Thank you for all you do for us, your "students of crochet"! You are, by far, the "very best instructor"! ❤️😻🧶🐰🐣🐇 Phoenix, AZ 🌵🌄🏜️
Wow I never even thought about this. I was of the school of it happens where it happens. But I think I will give this a try as I put a lot of love into the things I make. Might as well make it known that my heart is really in it. No pun intended. Thanks Mikey. 😊
I made a “Mile a Minute” crocheted afghan for my son. I loved the play of the different colors as the strips went along. I didn’t have to match anything up. Now I have started a C2C project with the leftover yarn. Ahem, I may need to go to get more supplies to finish it. So much for using up the leftover yarn!
Thank you for that great tip. I do that with the Caron Cakes when they don't like up. I had no idea you could do it with the ombre yarns also. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I made an afghan out of this yarn in the scuba color and discovered the transition issue when I had to join a new ball. I’m a beginner so it was a challenge and I didn’t want to cut another ball so I was able to pick a ball that had the color that I needed. Now that I’m done I found your idea, which is great. I am not as stressed by joining a new ball now. Very clever behind the science tip. Thank you.
😂!! You are the cutest Mikey !! I just love 💕 you so much! I love 💕 your baby blanket as well! That’s beautiful 🤩!! Thank you for all that you do and for sharing your tips and secrets 🤫 😂🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
I have used this yarn many times. The aqua color does change fast, but not as fast as some cakes. I love these yarns. I use some solid yarn colors with these as well, for instance, when I do some sections of a pattern that need a solid look. Then I go right back into the ombre skein and continue. Overlay patterns work well with these ombres under. It makes a very unique look. Use a darker color for the overlay stitches. I made a chevron afghan with this yarn. The transition makes for a great look with that pattern. Can't wait to do the 2022 summer cal! Thanks, Mikey, for all you do for the crochet community.
I always watch and learn never really leave comments, but you are just so joyful loved your secrets put a smile on my face hot subscribe immediately thank you for the tip!
I have made 2 large projects with this yarn and I just got really lucky… I was able to get 3 balls for one project that had similar time stamps… they worked beautifully… same with the other project
Hi Mikey. Thanks for the tip. I only have a couple of skeins of RH Ombre yarn and haven't used it yet. It looks pretty though. Thank you for this tip video and all of the others you provide to us. You're a great person who knows the craft well.
You are so funny... Red heart ombre is my favorite I almost have every color look forward to the summer crochet along thank you Mikey I love your work.😁
beautiful, you make the world better and happier with your creations. :) is there a pattern for this baby blanket?! it is gorgeous I would love to try it
I'm currently working a C2C with Red Heart Stripes in "Polo Stripes". I don't dissect a whole skein, but I absolutely grab that center-pull of the new skein and pull until I reach the next color needed! I like to keep the color change patterns consistent.
Yes I guessed it was 5. Yes guessed. It really was hard to tell on the tablet I was on. I thought it was 7 at first because it was so hard to judge on that tablet. Thanks for the cool tips Mikey. You are Fabulous!
I’m still a beginner but I “dissected” a ball to achieve to look I wanted. Because it was a baby blanket, there wasn’t enough rows to get to the next color. Thanks for the tips!
Never thought of dissecting the yarn to color control…genius tip!!!
I love these tips! For me it's never been a big deal where an ombre project transitions because I feel it gives the project character but it's nice that you can go through and pick how it will transition!
I'm so glad!
I love knowing this. I think this video might well be the bestest information I've ever gotten. Now I need to get that OMBRE yarn so I can work this out. I LOVE IT ❤️
Three colors
Very helpful to create your designing pattern 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Why do I always feel like I'm Beavis and or butthead laughing at some of the things you say stuff like an arm full of balls lmao and I'm like why is he so funny?!?! Am I twelve?! Well the answer to that is , mentally, yes. I am 12. Haha ❤ you
I love your secret of cutting the yarn to get the color you want. I have done that several times using this ombre yarn.
Thank you!
It makes sense if the colour jump is a problem.
Mikey, you are the master!!! You are a genius when it comes to understanding how those colors and stitches just flow together. Like a beautiful river. Thank you for everything you have taught me through the years.
Secret ball manipulation 😂 love it! So helpful as I am literally just about to start a blanket using the purple ombre. Thank you!👌💜🇬🇧
You're so welcome!
I have a RH ombré and guessed 5 colours without checking. I like that idea of colour-controlling using multiple balls. Thank you, Mikey. 😘
Great guess. Control what you can when you need it.
I did yarn dissection on a afghan I made with SS Ombre in Anenome. That way I controlled the change in colors. It worked out wonderfully.
I do manipulation as well as the colour sometimes change and I know it will bother me a lot.
Love Red Heart! So many beautiful colors😊🧶
Thank you! 😊
Love the idea of the dissected yarn ball! Such a great tip!
Wow, i thought it was 3 colours. Thanks for the update and information. Always learning something new 😎😊
Ohhhhhh! Starting the day with Mikey and yarn secrets! Perfection!
Thanks Gina. Enjoy your day.
I tried to disect a ball of this back in 2019 and had a heck of a time trying to separate the colors. Now that you've shared that there should only be five steps of color, maybe I can try again. Thanks for sharing!
Glad I could help!
Thank you for this. And your baby blanket is beautiful.
Thanks.
Wow, Mackey nice tips. Thought only 3 colors but I see what u mean, thanks so much for this much needed lesson, will definitely try to do this on my next project. 😊 😘
It was a great guess.
Oh my gosh! You are a genius! I love the dissection of the ball to continue the transition of color! Thank you!
genius is a steep word but I'm glad to help when I find out little tips like this.
Your pink baby blanket is beautiful!
I so love this ombre yarn! Thanks for this information on transitioning the colors. I only thought there were 4 colors.
You are so welcome!

My pleasure.
I love all the colors that have been coming up with. It's hard to choose what to use. Thank you for all gorgeous patterns.
Too many choice is difficult a mind-meld.
I love working with the ombre yarn. It makes a beautiful C2C blanket. I did a dissection for the borders so I could control the color change.
Sometimes it's the only way to make it feel finished eh.
Perfect! I came across some ombre I wanted to use and now I know 5 colors!
OMG this is one of my Favorite videos of yours!
I use Ombre all the time and you giving me permission to Disect has saved my OCD so much pain!
I’ve used the ombré yarn for a few projects and I LOVE it. My favorite so far is the green. It’s a lot of fun to work with.
That's a great colour to play with.
Thank you for that great tip. I do that with the Caron Cakes when they don't like up. I had no idea you could do it with the ombre yarns also. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Love your tips. Transition yarns are some of my favorites. I think they work best with projects that start in the center vs back & forth.
If the width is too wide, it does factor what you are saying.
Can’t wait for the summer stitch along that blanket looks AMAZING!!!! Can’t wait to try Red Heart Ombré the colors look so beautiful!!!!
Me too!!
I made an afghan out of this yarn in the scuba color and discovered the transition issue when I had to join a new ball. Smart. You are a step ahead.

Hi Mikey. Thanks for the tip. I only have a couple of skeins of RH Ombre yarn and haven't used it yet. It looks pretty though. Thank you for this tip video and all of the others you provide to us. You're a great person who knows the craft well.

Love your tips thanks for sharing!!
I'm currently working a C2C with Red Heart Stripes in "Polo Stripes". I don't dissect a whole skein, but I absolutely grab that center-pull of the new skein and pull until I reach the next color needed! I like to keep the color change patterns consistent.
Good choice!
One of my favorite yarns!
Yeah mine too.
♥your baby blanket Mikey!

Well done! Enjoy your weekend.
Yes yarn pooling is a great way to keep the colors keeping the transitions from being "blunt". I've been doing this with cakes for years
excellent thought.
Love your tips
Oh dissect all the time and looove it!!!!!
awesome.
Thank you for your idea.
Awesome tips stunning blanket💜💜💜
Thank you! 😊
I’m still a beginner but I “dissected” a ball to achieve to look I wanted. Because it was a baby blanket, there wasn’t enough rows to get to the next color. Thanks for the tips!
It makes a lot of sense.
