I have difficult feet to fit, between my high instep, high arch, and my left foot being larger than my right I decided to go the custom route. I ordered my Nicks in November, and received them in March. Out of the box they were like walking in ski boots. I couldn't believe how stiff they were. That being said the fit was second to none. They truly fit like a glove. The paperwork that came with them said allow up to 100 hours of use before break-in is complete. I'd guess that after about 30 hours of wear I really started to notice the how the boots molded to my feet. Now that they are fully broken in, they're simply amazing. The best complement I can give, is I forget I'm wearing them. The first thing I used to do when I got home was kick my boots off. Now I'll be halfway to my chair before my wife yells at me for tracking dirt through the house. If you're thinking of getting custom boots built, I'd be surprised if you found better value for your money than Nicks. Their customer service people are outstanding. Thanks for your time. -Alex.
Alex Obrien I know a lot of the guys who work at nicks boots. Many people there use drugs quite heavily. They are good boots though, as long as you don't mind that stuff
That's exactly why boots are great made, under drugs personal works more creative and hard.some are and more concentrated!Good job off all Nick's workers!
Barry Larry you know it’s a nice place to work if they keep people employed even though they party. The managers at nicks obviously care about quality work not personal hang ups. I love that about a company
My son and I drove to Spokane to get fitted in person, so glad we did. Learned more about my feet in the 3hrs we were there than I learned my whole life. Waiting now on them to ship out to us in Arkansas.
I am a Pediatric Intensive Care Flight Nurse. I spend my days/ nights in and out of a helicopter & an airplane. I have spent many years wearing shitty boots. I finally took the plunge into custom boots. I did Nicks sizing sheet, got my try-on boots (which they had to build, and fit like a glove) and now I’m waiting for my boots. It’s a long process, but so far worth it. I can’t wait for my boots!
Just got my first Nick's stock BP in 55 last Walnut nearly 6 months ago and after probably 3 months of damn nearly daily wear they wear absolutely the best thing I've ever put on my feet. Just got my second pair but in black now I'm forgetting how horrible the first month was lol but ohhh so worth the the wait.
I'm a volunteer FF and a shop teacher, I have a pair of these, the break in was rough. I do truly love these boots some school days I am in these for 12-16 hours on concrete/linoleum floors and no back issues. These have been my best investment in footwear. I happen to find a dealer here in my state that had a "stock" pair and they fit well, but my next pair I will have custom built to solve some heal fitting issues.
Awesome vid .. in the future though, the xtra leather or gusset is designed to be folded over and then layed against shin and then laced up. Providing xtra layers of of protection against environment and laces..
I have a pair of Whites boot, which are similar to the nicks and they are absolutely the best boots I have ever had. The break in is tough but once you break them in you will have the most comfortable shoe you will ever own. They are also extremely tough and will take a lot of abuse.
S54 That decision was the one they made during the fitment process and measuring my natural foot arch. That’s when I found out I needed a medium arch . It took a week of wearing them non stop to break them because of the leather being thicker than anything I’ve seen before! 1 boot weighs a much as both my old work boots! If your across the pond, definitely get have them mail you the fitment sheets and get that part right. My right foot is slightly different from my left and I had them add the sour shelf to the bottom stack so when I take them off I have like a little bumper at the back of the boot to push against to help get them off and it also protects the back of the boot as a bonus and looks cool as hell! Am going to have a set of the Charley boots made with the Tobacco leather and they have my foot molds in their shop so I never have to get refitted again, I just call them and they pull them off the shelf and make a pair using them. They have thousands of molds of people’s feet on the shelves in the back.
Depends on how much leather is in the tongue. They vary depending on how they were measured/made. If there's enough, what you suggest is perfect. But you might not be able to fold the tongues like that. I have a pair where that's not doable.
I just saw on your blog that you ordered a pair of the Roberts as well. I can't wait to see your review because I've had my eye on those things for a bit now!
Good video. I own a pair of Nicks Contender which is an older version of the same boot you're holding except for the rough out. I love the fit and quality of construction. Any boot one can comfortably wear all day is a testament to a quality boot.
I've had my Nick's for almost 2 years. I walk at the bare minimum 4.5 miles but have walked up to 10 miles a night at work. I wear my Nicks 3 times a week, so if I go with the bare minimum I've put about 1300 miles on them so far and they're holding up great. The break in was terrible but once that was that over I really like them.
Thanks for the review! Been longing for a pair of Nicks for a while, a pair of of the casual boots, the Robert or the Zuriick line. Those would last me a couple of lifetimes! Great review, thanks!
Fire boot has a red X on the sole to let you know it is a fire approved Vibram sole. Those do not meet protective equipment standards for wildland firefighting or any fire line work
I think the sole he had the closeup footage of wasn’t from that boot. White stitching through the soles on the closeup, no stitching at all on the one he’s holding. Can’t tell if there is a red X on the one he’s holding, though.
I ordered a pair of Nick's boots in May I think. And I barely got them about 5 days ago. I took a long time because of Kobe 19 and that whole shebang. However my feet are in normal feet. I'm a 10.5 with a 9e wide with width foot. It's nearly impossible to find my width size. And if a place claims to have it, then it really isn't a true 9E. It's been a rough go for me, and my feet were hurting for a long time by squeezing into these narrow regular shoes. I went with Nick's Handmade Boots I got the builder pro, exactly that one right there just not the hot shot. I was amazed when they came in and I was able to wear the Boots without pain. At the balls of my feet it's 5 in wide. That's so hard to make a boot that looks normal for that, but they're beautiful, they look proportional and I'm loving it so far. I was so happy within these 5 days that I even ordered an Americana for more casual stuff.
I have two pairs of Nicks Hot Shots that I've worn for years. After break-in they are hands down the most comfortable footwear I've ever worn. (I'm a 10 1/2 FFF, so there's not really any such thing as an off the shelf boot that fits properly). The fitment and break in processes are totally worth the effort. I just went into my local Nicks rep's to order a pair of steel toed work boots, and he steered my to Franks, instead of Nicks. Apparently there's been some changes at Nicks recently. Any info regarding that?
I have both Nick's and W****'s. Both are excellent, very similar in quality. If you spend a lot of time on your feet, do yourself a favor and get a pair. They will change your life. I bought a couple of pairs used on eBay and were very lucky because they fit well. Then I got two more used pairs that didn't fit at all. Darn. So I bit the bullet and ordered custom. 16 week wait, but worth it. If you are new to these types of boots, you'll find them night & day compared with what you usually wear. The leather is much heavier. When they're cold, they're stiff. But when you've worn them for a bit and they've warmed up, they get super comfortable. They are built like tanks. After wearing mine a while I don't want to take them off. By far my favorite footwear. By far.
Nick's and whites boots are the way to go if you are on your feet , they will take a bit to break in but it's worth it ,after having these boots everything else feels cheap
@@TheBootGuyreviews Back in my younger days I have been known to drive the guys (and a few girls) nuts, when I wore my leather shorts on the farm in wet weather, 😊
So when are companies going to start doing 3D scans of feet and 3D printing custom for molds for each costumer so they can form the boot to your foot as they're building it?!?! THAT would be a comfortable boot! Custom tailored for every hill and valley of YOUR foot! I'd get a pair hell yeah!
It sounds like a good idea, but a boot has to be constructed on a last, rather than a sheet of paper. However, your idea may help in selecting the best fitting last and possibly would highlight where a few new ones need to be added to their collection.
@@alexduke5402 Unless a CNC machine could be programmed to accept data from the printer, the cost of a custom last would double the cost of the boots. he problem is that a CNC cutting machine of that complexity would be eye watering. Even machines for general sheet cutting can cost half a million.
@@michaelbarrett3333 By that logic the Nicks Hotshot is the Whites Smokejumper because Nick was with Whites before he started his own company. Though I do also realize that the Smokejumper, Hotshot and the type 1 commander are all very similar but I know there are some finer details that set them aside which is something I would personal like to see a video of.
Same leather, same sole, same thread, same screws, same hooks. Different lasts that the boot is built around and some minor nuance to the assembly process. Nick worked at Whites, Frank worked at Nicks. All of them are in Spokane Washington. Whites is now a Chinese owned company.
Eric Mac I’ve had multiple pairs of whites and nicks over the past 16 years. Whites, Nicks, and Franks are very comparable and like you said other than lasts and small details, pretty much the same boot... The best custom boot I’ve ever owned is JK boots tho, also in Spokane. Just like the others 3 companies, but the JK’s had very little break in time, very solid company. And I was always a die hard whites smokejumper guy for years, I didn’t give them any business after they sold out in 2014 to a Japanese company, (not Chinese) parent company of danners. I did just recently have whites do a rebuild for me and the quality is back to old school whites. I’d recommend JK boots over any of the other 3 to anybody. They’re wild land fire boot is called the “fire inlander”
I was at there factory today and got me some hot shots in black rough out medium arch and they were very knowledgeable it was fast they just knew what they were doing
I order a paired of Americana. Didn't get it custom fitted to my fit but after giving them the measurements of the ball of my toe they recommended me a 7.5 ee. I initially ordered a 7.5 d, hopefully I wouldn't have to return it once I get it...
I'm in the uk and i'm thinking off getting some boots for myself. All the boots i have last 6 months then fall apart, even the top name boots are made in China these days, I want something thats quality and will last. I've just got to watch the size as we size slightly diffrent in the uk then in the USA.
I'm a local truck driver here in south Carolina. I need a waterproof, steel toe boot. For weather conditions and to walk through manufacturing facilities. I do a LOT of walking. I have been wearing Hytest steel toe waterproof hiker, 6" boot. But, they (soles) wear out in 6-8 months. And some times the stitching comes undone behind the toe. Stumbled across these Nick boots and I'm considering investing in a pair. Do you think they will work for what I do? And what I need them for?
These are great for forest service/wild land fire fighting. Whites Smoke Jumpers are great. Both I saw a lot of on the fire line. Great boots. I always stayed true to my Danners. Great reviews
I really liked your video, you definitely seem to have a great passion for boots. I’m actually considering custom ordering some Nicks next month, and I subbed ☺️
Rough out had problems when it came to mop up liquids ... dry cracking way faster... just saying, also when on sharp rocks lava style like Idaho ... rough out busted holes every time
So that is the reason for rough out leather!! Which explains why my Russian jackboots have a rough out leather on the foot. I did notice that it seems to resist issues better than my other boots.
Nicks are the best boots 100% , you have to break them in so don't be disappointed when you get them,I'm a rancher in West Texas and I'm outside from sun up to sun down and walk on mad , River, cowpoop ,water ,and you name it, Nicks boots are my choice .
Had mine for 3 years. Had the ridgelines for 5. Best boots on the planet wear them literally every day only boots I might go with after my Nicks are the Franks.
I like the tall heals for multiple reasons. I’m a heavy equipment operator and that heal locks into the steel steps on equipment. Also when I’m excavators I have better use of my heals on the foot pedals for running the tracks and auxiliary functions.
They help you get your footing while navigating through rough ground such as forestry type work, dirt, mud if you're a construction guy. Oh and they accomadate climbing spikes very well if you're a skyline logger climbing and topping trees or a lineman. Also I have been told a proper fitting pair of logger type boots are the healthiest shape for your foot. They can help to form your foot to a better arch and improve posture. Not sure if that's 100% accurate but what I can say after switching to the logger heel is that my feet personally feel better than they. ever have.
I bought a pair of Carolina lineman boots to protect my shins while I fell timber . They was a size to big, yes they measured my foot but they run a size over, I had to pay for them to b shipped back . Waited three months on them . Last pair I had was from balieys, which turned out to b a good boot . Needless to say with the terrible fit and long wait for them to b oversized and more waiting my next pair will b Nick's lineman boots ! I wear my boots six days a week . Only one thing better than a good fit n boot ? Patriot Perry .
I need a boot with a protective toe. I wear the toes out of my boots in a few months. I want something water proof and slip resistant on oil and fuel. What boot would hold up? I need a boot in a size 14
Do they have a catalog. I'm in the process of training into becoming a Wildland Firefighter and I'm mixed between Whites and Nick's. Whites has a catalog but I was wondering does Nicks have a catalog?
Abram Mcclain whites have a terrible thing called whites bite and nicks are the comfier version i’m a wildland firefighter and I recommend nicks over whites
Welt? That looks like stitchdown construction. The top layer, looking down at the sole extension will be the turned out vamp, not a welt. I believe Nicks offers a hand welted option, at extra cost, but the majority of their boots are not welted.
I’ve owned nicks and whites. Nicks over all much better boot hands down . Break in is a pain but well worth it. Cost If you take care of them they will last at least 10 years .
Johnny M. If you wore out a sole in four months, there is no stronger sole for you. Your work is just demanding as shit and soles are a dispensable tool
Why do you lace one string all the way up then the other instead of one then the other? Reminds me of the the old All in the Family episode where Mike (Meathead) was putting on his socks and boots...he put on one sock and then one boot, and Archie said he was doing it wrong...you should put on both socks and then both boots.
Wow amazing ! Can you use them for hiking? Can you get them in Europe ? Boots as feet Armor it makes sense. I guess I'm going to the states to get them to make the experience complete 👍🏼
They are very similar. As I understand it the founder of Nick’s was a former White’s employee who struck out on his own. From a practical standpoint, I found most of the White’s Smokejumper boots I tried locally were too narrow for my taste. I decided to try Nick’s try on boot process and found the standard 9.5 EE try on pair they sent me for fitting was far more generous in the toe box than any White’s I checked out. Other than that, you really can’t go wrong with either. They are pretty on par with each other, though some will say Nick’s is far superior and still others will say you are better of with Franks or JK’s, two other Spokane boot firms. I don’t think you’d be unwise with any of them.
Hey man i love your channel, ever considered doing a review on some canadian boot companies. Viberg, canada west, daytons, alberta boot co. Boulet etc? I think that'd be cool to see. Love the channel, thanks!
You said it all in your comment. An amazing pair of boots that will last forever. But they cost to much? THEY LAST FOREVER!!! say they cost 600$ I have no idea... But they last 5 or 6 years! Maybe a resole or 2. That's a 100$ a year. Let me ask you this. How much do you spend on your cable bill? Does it make you money and comfortable at work? I think I watched a video a while ago from wranglerstar and he said you can send them in and have them rebuilt!
@@jessebaker5940 The point is how long will those $150 boots last you compared to the $600 pair and how many cheap pairs will you buy when you could have just had one? In theory it's high upfront cost for long term saving.
Nick's makes a decent boot. My old Hot Shots had steel toes and toes caps. I forgot them under the back seat of a Ford pickup in the middle east. Decent, just not memorable. My Whites from the early 90's are just barely hanging on. Sadly their quality started slide long before the buyout. I've since moved on to Kulien, waiting a year sucks but damn they're nice.
MobsterNine I guess I missed this. Unfortunately I don't know if they're still in business, but if they are expecting to pay double Nicks or Whites prices would be close. It was one guy with an apprentice, I was measured in the shop I don't know if they do remote fitting.
Not doubting the class of these boots, all I'll say is Bill The Butcher from Gangs of New York! They have a real victorian 'ness about them. Wish my country (England) had huge swathes of forest and woodland compared to the states, I'd drop everything to work in the woods
To bad u don't live over here I could use a Good timber feller ! I'll soon b 58 and work by myself n the woods . NO one will work anymore, our wonderful government houses and feeds people . Y work when u can lay around and party all day long seems to b the fulossive ? Patriot Perry .
+The Tod I'll send them an email later on today. The best thing would be if the video had a few 1000 views over the weekend. That helps when I'm explaining the format of the channel to marketing departments. if everyone could share this video on Facebook and Twitter it also help.
Thanks for this video. I have been thinking of a pair of Nick's boots for over 5 years. I finally ordered a pair on Black Friday.> I was able to message them via Facebook and was told that since I am not a firefighter, I could get the same boot for less money by getting their "BuilderPro" Boot. Its the same as the Hot Shot , less the fireproof sole and fireproof thread. Cant wait to get them.
I get that, but that’s the high heel that supports the arch. It’s also an inch and a half at most not 3 or 4 inches. No one I know growing up logging, firefighting and farming has any complaints from the high heel. Check it out.
White’s suck IMHO. I’ve owned both and got burned by White’s years ago. On my 8th or better pair of Nicks and I couldn’t be happier I go with a 10 inch brown leather rough out. Expensive but worth it, as it’s almost broken in the leather is so soft. But don’t worry with age it toughens up.
they look like a well made boot but with those heels there is not a hope in hell i could wear them. any logger style boots like this are brutal on my feet. god bless those who can wear them
These type of boots are take a while to break in and it hurts . I have a pair of Whites I love them but it took about 2 months for me to break them in .
@@outspokeninsider752 funny you should respond now. I actually sent a pair of my nicks to Frank’s for a resole. I posted a video of my initial thoughts. Sending my next pair to JK.
I understand these are $6 bills. Heard they're worth every penny. Forest fire fighters need pro tools like this. Loggers too. Dangerous jobs need safe tools to work with.
Correct on all counts. They are outstanding for factory workers with years of damage done to feet, knees and backs from concrete floors and cheap boots, too. I’ll gladly drop another 6 bills on these again, never going back to inferior footwear.
I got out of the habit of it in the Air Force because if my pants ever got soaked with jet fuel, it would soak down into your socks and be really painful
Nicks makes a great boot. I don't like that they aren't water proof, I am a Lineman and work in muddy wet conditions, I need a boot that is comfortable to climb in and wear in the wet mud, So i chose The Hoffman Power lines i have two pair one pair is insulated for winter and the other pair is non insulated for summer and i can say they are built woith the same 8 oz leather and military grade hardware, they even have the same vibram lug sole but they also have the addition of a goretex liner for waterproofing, I don't think i will ever buy any other brand of boots besides Hoffman, They are handmade in Kellog Idaho and are absolutely the best boot i have ever had.
Just got my Nicks! I ordered Builder Pro made to orders. I love them and everything you have said is true except one thing: The hooks WILL pull out of the leather. I am having that issue right now. I have contacted them and am hoping they can correct this. Honestly they should be running eyelets higher up over the instep.
I know Nick's along with Wesco, and White's are truly among THE best made boots on the planet, but that arch and high heel looks like a woman's boot. I know they are made for loggers, fireman, linesmen, etc, but they look like something a Goth chick or the motorcycle guy from the Village People would wear.
@ Warren I work n the woods and the high heel really helps exspecialy getting on and off of equipment, the heel catches good on ledges preventing u from slipping around . A higher heel gives u an advantage steeping up right from the get go because ur already higher on the ground . Just trying to b helpful ! Patriot Perry .

Those brass hooks are stronger than other brass hooks?
That is one hell of a look bootguy! Shorts and boots!😉
Thanks, It drives the guys nuts at work.
Adidas did that. Adidas 4d.
It sounds like a good idea, but a boot has to be constructed on a last, rather than a sheet of paper.
However, your idea may help in selecting the best fitting last and possibly would highlight where a few new ones need to be added to their collection.
@@wilsjane that's what I was trying to say 3d scan the foot to 3d print a custom last to build the shoe around
@@wilsjane 3d printing is becoming cheaper and more readily available
@@alexduke5402 Unless a CNC machine could be programmed to accept data from the printer, the cost of a custom last would double the cost of the boots.
he problem is that a CNC cutting machine of that complexity would be eye watering. Even machines for general sheet cutting can cost half a million.
Is there a review in the works for the new Frank's boots type 1 commander wild land boot?
The Franks type 1 is just a Nick Hotshot... The guy who started franks was with nick for 20+ years
BS.
I was thinking of purchasing the danner logger boot. Any chance of a reveiw of them. How do they compare to the logger boots. Any opinions
saej kim I know this is a late reply but do not buy Danners. They say made in America but they are really made in Asia
I order a paired of Americana. Didn't get it custom fitted to my fit but after giving them the measurements of the ball of my toe they recommended me a 7.5 ee. I initially ordered a 7.5 d, hopefully I wouldn't have to return it once I get it...
What are the cons again? Also how do you say Vibram....
Lastly how do you do a review on a boot that isn't worn in?

Pretty good questions
And what I need them for?
erik roberts
Yes
I drive for UPS I wear them, heavy, well built, non steel toed. Awsomeness
They're pricey, but totally worth it. I can't wait to put mine on in the morning.
What what about for the Winter, can't find :(
Rough out had problems when it came to mop up liquids ... dry cracking way faster... just saying, also when on sharp rocks lava style like Idaho ... rough out busted holes every time
I was wondering about that. How are the smooth inside the boot. Was it more comfortable or any different than regular smooth out?
So that is the reason for rough out leather!! Which explains why my Russian jackboots have a rough out leather on the foot. I did notice that it seems to resist issues better than my other boots.
those are soul fitting
if you fold the tongue in a s pattern it will add cushion to the front and under the laces
What happens if they get completely submerged?
They would likely get wet.
I do Hot Smithing Work so these look promising, but I'm Type 2 Diabetic with Nerve damage to my feet. Would you recommend these for me?
Do Nick boots have a steel toe?
Love to buy them.
they can have steel or composite toe or no safety to at all its totally up to you
You can choose nearly every option on a Nick's.. even down to having like eyelets on one side and speed hooks on the other
Nicks are the best boots 100% , you have to break them in so don't be disappointed when you get them,I'm a rancher in West Texas and I'm outside from sun up to sun down and walk on mad , River, cowpoop ,water ,and you name it, Nicks boots are my choice .
Had mine for 3 years. Had the ridgelines for 5. Best boots on the planet wear them literally every day only boots I might go with after my Nicks are the Franks.
what does military grade even mean, we wore cheapo Belleville and Bates boots and the eyelits did fall off from time to time.
do they put goretex or thinsulate in these if you ask?
Hustle Humbly no
What is up with the high heels? Looks strange. Is there a purpose for that?
Carl Bärve suppose to be more comfortable on arch when standing and working all day
I like the tall heals for multiple reasons.
Not sure if that's 100% accurate but what I can say after switching to the logger heel is that my feet personally feel better than they. ever have.
Thanks for answering the question.

That was a great review! Could you review the lineman boot? I want a pair but I’m not sure yet..
Where can I buy a pair?
Big Murph they make a builderpro that is astm certified. I’d check it out
Do they have a catalog.
You are correct. Accurate information is not a priority it seems.
I’ve owned nicks and whites.
Nicks over all much better boot hands down .
Break in is a pain but well worth it.
Cost
If you take care of them they will last at least 10 years .
If I normally wear 13D RedWings, what size should I get in Whites or Wesco?
I got the hot shot with the medium heel and wore the sole out on 4 months! They told me they don't offer a sole that would last longer😥
Johnny M. If you wore out a sole in four months, there is no stronger sole for you. Your work is just demanding as shit and soles are a dispensable tool
Or, just maybe, pick your feet up when you walk...lol
Vibram soles are industry standard, and most of Nicks competition uses the exact same soles.
Could you do a review on the mavericks! They are real slick; I got my sight on a pair myself.
I plan on it.
Why do you lace one string all the way up then the other instead of one then the other? Reminds me of the the old All in the Family episode where Mike (Meathead) was putting on his socks and boots...he put on one sock and then one boot, and Archie said he was doing it wrong...you should put on both socks and then both boots.
Just ordered a pair . cant wait .
I have worn Whites, West Cos and Nicks. For me Nicks is far better. My break in period was not bad at all. I am ordering my third pair of Nicks soon,
Wow amazing ! Can you use them for hiking? Can you get them in Europe ? Boots as feet Armor it makes sense. I guess I'm going to the states to get them to make the experience complete 👍🏼
Their measuring kit is super easy and they DO ship internationally.
Totally worth it.
@@rickquist3992 Thank you, very much 😊👍🏻
Some people do use them for hiking, but they're pretty heavy. I love mine, but you have to decide if you're OK with the heavy weight.
@@Nordic_Sky Thanks 👍🏻
what different between Nick & White?
Nick's Boots are great.
Wesco Boots and White's Boots are in the same category.
Hey man i love your channel, ever considered doing a review on some canadian boot companies. Viberg, canada west, daytons, alberta boot co. Boulet etc? I think that'd be cool to see. Love the channel, thanks!
They look like amazing boots and boots that will last forever but, my only problem is that it’s way way too expensive
You can repair them over and over again for cheaper then a new decent quality mass produced shoe so in the long run it pays off.
Alex Duke it is way way to expensive when you could get a 150 pair of boots they will still get the job done right as a 700 pair of boots
@@jessebaker5940 The point is how long will those $150 boots last you compared to the $600 pair and how many cheap pairs will you buy when you could have just had one? In theory it's high upfront cost for long term saving.
NPC No.1350 there’s people out there that have a budget that they can’t spend a certain amount of money
Those translucent white legs are really what this video is about. The boots are just there for accentuation!
Your right. I need to spend less time working and more time sunning my self.
TheBootGuy hey I’m looking at JK boots. Any word on them? Also, why is Spokane the custom boot capital?
Nick's makes a decent boot. My old Hot Shots had steel toes and toes caps. I forgot them under the back seat of a Ford pickup in the middle east. Decent, just not memorable. My Whites from the early 90's are just barely hanging on. Sadly their quality started slide long before the buyout. I've since moved on to Kulien, waiting a year sucks but damn they're nice.
How much are the Kuliens? I've heard they're nice, but about twice as much. Whites, nick's, Kuliens, all Washington made, which is cool.
MobsterNine
I guess I missed this. Unfortunately I don't know if they're still in business, but if they are expecting to pay double Nicks or Whites prices would be close. It was one guy with an apprentice, I was measured in the shop I don't know if they do remote fitting.
Should one ware a tall boot for roofing?
If that's what you like.
I wear the 16" lineman boot to fell timber and they really save my shins at the end of every day . Patriot Perry .
Can you review the Justin Wyoming pull-on work boot?
+Oscar M yes, that's a really nice boot.
Not doubting the class of these boots, all I'll say is Bill The Butcher from Gangs of New York!
They have a real victorian 'ness about them.

What boots do you recommend for a machinist?
nurses shoes work good
Redwing makes a shorter style work boot with a really soft sole that's unbelievably comfortable . Patriot Perry .
Nicks is good, although sometimes kinda rude. I like Frank’s
Just looks like a Victorian era women's shoe to me.
I get that, but that’s the high heel that supports the arch. It’s also an inch and a half at most not 3 or 4 inches. No one I know growing up logging, firefighting and farming has any complaints from the high heel. Check it out.
People in the military laugh when they hear “military grade” lmao
What do you plan to do with the boot? Are you a volunteer firefighter? Or a part time logger/forest ranger?
+General Nappa it's a surprise!
He sells boots...
These vs. Whites smokejumpers??..
Both very very good options. I own White's (as do prob the majority of other wildland firefighters) and they are absolutely incredible.
White’s suck IMHO.
I’ve owned both and got burned by White’s years ago. On my 8th or better pair of Nicks and I couldn’t be happier
I go with a 10 inch brown leather rough out. Expensive but worth it, as it’s almost broken in the leather is so soft. But don’t worry with age it toughens up.
@@jweshawk55 so howd you get "burned" by whites?

Do whites
I have three pairs, one for fires. One for ranch work and one for church
I understand these are
$6 bills.
Lol...im 5’10, looks like this boot wud make me 6’1!! 😂
It sure worked for me
I can ride the roller coasters now
That's why Shorty's buy them! No real man needs nick boots! My bare feet could put out a forest fire lol!
Bonus!!!
Pro tip. Never tuck your pants into your boots, get blousing bands. It's what we used in the (Canadian) army and for fighting forest fires.
Also, buy Nick's
