Look great Zac! I once tried to glue up a "crazy contraption" once as well, but what I really did is realize that I don't have enough clamps!! Well I realized that after everything was together and I needed more clamps.. Instead I got a few bits of poorly glued together scraps to use for other projects!
You can never have enough clamps! It's an adage for a reason haha. Trust me man, there were times I wished I had more clamps on this project. That's why I spent so much time sanding and finessing things after the clamps came off.
I am loving this table; I seem to be seeing a lot of pixelated makes recently. I don't have the resources to make a full table myself so I'm instead opting for mini table made out of Lego.
Turning this into an epoxy table could be be pretty cool - make it a complete rectangle. Great work though - I'm literally just starting and some of your videos are the most inspiring for me. Keep it up!
Thanks Marylou! I've been meaning to message you on IG and tell you how much I liked the video you made where you carved that sink out of plywood, that was really cool. How come you disabled the comments on that video?
Ah Toronto! That explains the Peter McKinnon-esque style to your videos. If only Peter was a woodworker. Good work! Just found your channel today. I’m in Ottawa but don’t hold that against me. :)
In the passing shot of your planer, I saw a dust collection tube. 1. Is this your own addition to the planer? 2. Do you have plans on how to attach one? 3. Did you make a video of this addition? I'm trying to figure out the dust collection for my planer. Thank you, Roy
Hey Zac! Excellent video and project! I am by no means a furniture finisher, stained glass is my thing, but could you have put a spray finish on? Wouldn’t that have been easier? With potentially less drips? Not that I saw any, just curious. Stay safe and looking forward to the next project!
Thank you and good question Martha! I think maybe someone who was more experienced than I probably could've sprayed on a finish much faster than I brushed it on. That being said, since there were so many internal crevices and spots for the finish to collect and pool I didn't want to attempt it. I'm not very good at spraying finishes yet, I'm much more comfortable brushing stuff on. It's definitely something I'd like to learn to do in the near future though!
where and how did you start your workshop because i want to get into woodworking and eventually make a youtube channel just like yours. I would appreciate it if you made a video or give me some tips on how and where to start making cool projects like this one!
I'm actually not very good at spraying yet, I figured all of those nooks and crannies would be really hard to reach with a sprayer. It's definitely something I wanted to practice more in the future though. Applying the finish honestly felt like a cake walk after the sanding process haha
An interesting idea for a future project perhaps! Resin is expensive I've been reluctant to get into it, but I'll probably have to at some point, it's just too cool not to
Very nice. Maybe it could be more interesting if the middle piece is made from clear epoxy. Than it could look like the two parts are floating in the air 😀
Love this, i would be tempted to do a 3D/multi level chess board on the top with the chess pieces made from the same woods,.... oh bugger now thats in my head i'll have to make it!
Nice! So your center column, you basically glued together strips to make 3 panels, and then glue those 3 panels together, but all at the same time, right? Cause all I saw from the video was gluing the panels together.
Ya exactly, sorry I should've been more explicit in the video. I did it all in one shot, which maybe wasn't the best way to do it. I probably could've saved myself running it through the sander to clean it up if I had been more patient and did it one layer at a time.
Good work buddy, I’ve got a question for you. How did you manage to sand those little pieces in between after you applied the glue? Did you put the coating without sanding the middle part of the table?
Beautiful! Just curious. How much would you sell that piece for? Just wondering for my projects to come. I’m about 3 months into wood working and always have a hard time how much to charge. I want to make a deal for my friends and family and I’m just doing it on the side for fun.
Really good question Kevin. Unfortunately I think I'm going to have to give you a pretty unsatisfying answer. I rarely sell my projects because I know I'm not likely to get back what I put into them. I had 3 or 4 days into building this thing (I could probably do it in half that if I wasn't filming though) and a couple hundred dollars worth of materials . Not to mention overhead and the cost of all the tools, etc. If I wanted to realistically make money doing this I think I'd have to charge at least $1,500 for it. Maybe in the future I'll find buyers willing to spend that kind of money, but for now I'm happy selling my surplus projects to friends and family at prices that basically just cover the costs of the materials involved. I do it for the love of the build and enjoy sharing my work with people like you. Hopefully one day the ad revenue from these youtube videos will make up the difference haha
instead of all the clamps to hold the layers in place, could you even get away with using ratchet straps or band clamps used for picture frames and such?
Good question, it was more of less random. I set an upper limit of 9 inches, and a lower limit of 2.5 inches with some tape on my miter saw and then tried to get an even distribution between those two numbers
Good question, I've been trying to figure that out myself! Haha totally kidding, I've only been doing TH-cam for a couple of months and I've been on IG for a couple of years now. If there's one thing I've learned about social media is that it's a marathon and not a sprint. You have to show up consistently and put out good content before you'll find an audience. I'm still in the early days of figuring out TH-cam and how to craft the best content possible for it. I'm hopeful my YT following will surpass my IG following one day (but probably not for a while!).
2 kinds of wood, some glue and 50k worth of machines 😂
Haha, do you really want to play that game Radek? I think your hand tool collection alone probably costs more than all my power tools!
@@ZacBuilds I'm out
@@RadeksWorkshop hahahah oh Radek! I can't believe you actually tried to play that game!
I enjoyed not only the final product, brilliant, but the process itself. Gracias.
That's the best looking corner table I've seen.
this is one of the coolest end tables ive seen, love it
This build inspired me to follow the same idea, but utilize the square formatting on the top surface to also incorporate a chess board! Thanks Zac!
I love it!! I will be making this to go along with the pixilated epoxy table. Thanks for the great content! I look forward to your future builds.
It is the most creative design of the things I've seen recently, great and ingenious.
Wow thank you so much! That's very kind of you to say about my little end table
@@ZacBuilds You're welcome. Take care.
That's masterpiece!!!
Respect from Indonesia..
Thank you Vinzara!
I know you made this a while ago, but I'm just now enjoying it. This piece came out absolutely fantastic. 💯
Looks great! I like the way you glued up the segments!
Thanks Logan, took me a while to get the rhythm but once I got going it was pretty easy!
WOW! love the table! Your vids are so fun to watch! greetings from The Netherlands!
Thanks so much Wes! Cheers from Canada man.
I love the look of that table, it's a work of art. But I also love that you opened it with a bit. That was great
Thanks dude! Glad you like the skit/bit at the opening, figured I'd set things up with a bit more story this time.
this is simply a work of art
Damn, thank you so much Daniel! I really appreciate it man!

Haha that's awesome, I've always been a big Lego fan. I'd love to try making some scale models of things eventually too
Love it... its like minecraft table..👍😊
Haha ya I've heard that before! Thank you
Love the design and how you worked it out. Thanks for sharing the process, Zac!
My pleasure! I love building these crazy projects and if people want to follow along I'm more than happy to keep filming them 😃
Well done, my friend!
Thanks John!
Beautiful table
Another good vid, Zac. But really enjoy your projects, and style. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you and thank you for watching too!
Wow! That will be so easy to clean!
Really enjoyed the video Zac! Looks like a challenging build, chock full of learning opportunities.
Definitely Bob, there were quite a few challenges, but I took a lot away from it that I can use on projects going forward!
I absolutely love this table! Another great video, I really enjoyed it 👍👍👍
Thanks for the idea!!!👍
No problem!
This was awesome Zac! Beautiful unique build and the video production...🔥🔥🔥. Keep up the good work man!
Thanks Jason much appreciated man 👍
Absolutely beautiful build Zac!
Thanks Bonnie! I see you've got your own channel, any chance we might get to see some TH-cam videos from you in the future?

Really surprised you didn't spray it... all those nooks and crannies must have taken ages to apply finish!

Hey. What kind of stuff do you smoke? Resin. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’d like something like this for my Bookshelf speakers 🔊. I have Poak Audio speakers 🔊 LSi9 and I think they would look Awesome on suck stands.

You have a planer so I'm assuming all your pieces joined together very well, and there was no need for wood filler?
🔥🔥🔥
absolute beauty.. :D

amazing build! , does anybody know the music?
How much would.a pair like this cost...excelkent design and workmaship
Thanks Jeff, it was extremely time consuming to make so I'd probably have to charge 1500 to 2000 per unit to make it worth my time

Is it possible to just use a belt sander to make it flat top?
That looks great! Pretty neat piece to have. But my shins and toes kinda ache just seeing that.
hey ! I really want to learn these, is it possible to visit your workshop!? i want learn everything about how to start own workshop..
Looks so cool. But I wouldn’t want to dust it lol
instead of all the clamps to hold the layers in place, could you even get away with using ratchet straps or band clamps used for picture frames and such?
How did you decide the lengths of the staves for a nice appearance? I cant tell if its random or if you had intervals
Good question, it was more of less random. I set an upper limit of 9 inches, and a lower limit of 2.5 inches with some tape on my miter saw and then tried to get an even distribution between those two numbers
@@ZacBuilds since I have a large scrap pile and nowhere to go, I'm giving it a go while at home.
