That branding and hand written burn on the back was the chefs kiss, definitely elevated it to another level and gives an additional talking point about the board for the new owner!

Hi Morley, I’ve been able to get my wife to watch your great TH-cam videos with me. Very inspiring. What are your thoughts about repurposing finished hardwood furniture and running it through a planer or table saw? Just wondering if you have any health concerns? I haven’t done a charcuterie or cutting board but this has been my thought for a while, why not use old furniture and remove the finish and use it for a build… Curious on your thoughts!? Thanks for your content! Keep it up, looking forward to your CD build!
@2:19 - notices the Snapmaker enclosure in the background! Hey! The Snapmaker 2.0 was my first (1) 3D printer, (2) CNC, (3), laser. I now have a whole farm of 3D printers (7 assembled, and about 5 more waiting to be built), 3 laser machines, ranging from the Snapmaker up to a 100W CO2 machine, and 3 CNC machines, ranging from the Snapmaker up to a 2+ x 4+ ft DIY plasma based on V1E LowRider v3, and a 4+ x 8+ ft DIY router based on V1E LowRider v3. For me, the Snapmaker 2.0 started it all.
The expectation/hope of being paid $100 an hour for this level of effort is a little out of touch... even at $200 USD, the board is quite expensive for what it is as large end grain cutting boards can be bought for a similar price. Don't get me wrong, the board turned out looking nice, but I do think expectations should be tempered when selling something so ubiquitous. Anyways, thanks for the video and merry Christmas to you.
Ive got these slats from an old ikea bedframe, replaced it some time back because what self respecting woodworker buys / has Ikea furniture 😅. That being said the slats that held the mattess are actually great looking ply pieces! Slightly warped, but all to the exact same bend, whick works for a unique look for my intended coffee table. Im turning them up on their side, and using flourecent acrylic strips between each slat. Not sure which color yet, but work in an acrylic fabrication shop, so no problem securing parts 😁
Loved the new video Morley! All I need is a good workbench and a few more tools and ill be making some furniture and pieces like this :) Currently just making bowls and plates and such on my lathe.
Would like to see a vid you mixing the two main topics of this channel, woodworking and 3D printing. You may take some inspiration from USSA. Some 🍬 for ya!
You should have made a vertical stand with the excess wood. As opposed to risers, it would offer a more elegant and ergonomic storage for when it is not in use.
Nice work, but $270 for a flat, mostly featureless board comprised of wood processed and glued simply is a bit ridiculous, regardless of time spent. It is a charcuterie board sold for $270, not a "$270 charcuterie board".
Fairly sure that you may have had some cherry wood in there. The grain of maple and cherry are very similar. I've had cherry sapwood boards that I would mistake for maple if I didn't know the actual tree it was cut from.
I think a person could have easily gotten a piece of glass for that table but since it had an older look to it (that isn't my style and maybe not your either) so I think using the wood for a charcuterie board was really cool
If I had the finances, I’d thoroughly love to buy this piece. Btw, absolutely loved your maker’s mark! Burning it in adds character to the piece. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Nice job. Personally, I would have used the "risers" as Japanese style feet, creating bevelled sides and dovetailing them into the base of the board. Guaranteed to add brownie points to the end price.

@Michael Willson you can fund end grain one off maple or walnut boards for around 150 to 200 and edge grain for around 100 to 150 o etsy or other makers. This is more of a novelty TH-cam merch purchase. Even the shipping to Oregon is gonna cost around d 50$ from Toronto.

I thought you have to have one face of the project already flat in order for a planer to flatten out the other surface. Is the planing here just to clean up the wood and the project does not necessarily have a flat top? I'm still learning so just wondering, thanks.
Flattening one side before planing allows you to get the two surfaces parallel to each other, which isnt strictly necessary for a board like this. But the planer will make each surface flat no matter what, unless you take too deep of plane passes. You should read some old popular woodworking articles about stock prep.
Because he is reusing wood from furniture it was probably flat already. My makerspace does not let us use reclaimed wood in the planer and jointer though because of the risk of hardware hidden within it damaging the blades. They are very expensive to replace!

Hey Morely I need your help. I just bought the DJI wireless setup. I fought with other systems bla bla bla...Long story...anyway, how is the latency with this mic? Do you record on board and then sync up the audio clips in post or do you plug directly into your camera.
