This is a great wood project book th-cam.com/users/postUgkxkPIWb22DigCqxmlXerCyUF4HCl6eSU2L . Most of the projects use the pallet simply as a source of reclaimed wood not as a recognizable pallet so even if you didn't have a pallet you could make these projects with any reclaimed (or even new) wood. The instructions are excellent. The style is charming and would work with lots of different decor. There are quite a number of projects that involve tiling of teh wood pieces which is a really cool idea and can produce beautiful pieces when working with aged wood.

At this point it's pretty much showing off.
And I'm loving every minute of it. All these individual joints are an accomplishment on their own. But building an entire table with this many joints without mucking up on building or calculating is such an impressive feat. Getting to this level makes you deserving of showing off. It puts something to aim for, far beyond the horizon. Amazing

When I started my career in 1978 , it wasn’t all done by hand but the joints would’ve been. I made church furniture in my first job for 11 years. I’ll tell you when this kind of mechanised kit eventually came through drop by drop, I for one was delighted. It takes nothing away from your skills as a craftsman sir.
My workshop is my haven. Music on, countryside everywhere, I’m in heaven. The job I’m working on now is 30 “chunky” ( that was the description I was given 😂) music stands for a choir. Everyone of them a slightly different height. You’re table is magnificent 👍

The breadboards on the ends need to expand with changes in humidity. Thats why the drawbore holes for the dowels were made as ovals and only one tenon was glued. It will expand hortzontally with changes in humidity. If that decorative piece was glued to the breadboard it might pop out if the breadboard shifts.

@@dustylumberco Ho many years have you been working on carpentry? I completely admire the way you build things out of pieces of wood
I always loved this, and it seems like a job that if you enjoy, then becomes the love of your life.

Beautiful work! A couple quick questions for you. 1.) what species and grade of wood did you use for this table! 2.) Are the inlays on the table edge decorative only?

It's so the wood can move. Notice the grain direction of the different pieces of wood and think about the direction in which the wood will expand and contract over time and with changes in humidity.
By making room for the wood to move it can move without breaking or cracking anything.

@@laughingone3728 But he glued the end piece to the main table. Seems kind of pointless to allow for movement at the end when it's glued in place just a few inches away.
