All i had to do was to shut down my desktop, wait to shutdown completely, unplug it, hold down the power button to reset, plug power back up, power on & got my D drive back, :)

Me too. Apparently you have to take away the power and give it a few moments to think about the error of its ways 😀 The PC had been off for a few days, and before then I'd had it on continuously for about a week, and in the meantime there was a Win 10 update that went into action when I turned the PC on today. It seemed to take forever, and then it just went completely black screen for an even longer time (no hourglass, no cursor, no mouse, but the monitor's power lamp was still blue, indicating it was active). So I forced a reboot which appeared to be fine - until I discovered that my 1Tb D drive and all of my data simply weren't there. Disk Management showed C drive only and rescanning changed nothing. Two restarts changed nothing. Forcing shutdown and unplugging for about 10 seconds totally worked. You suggest the additional step of pressing the power button while still unplugged, and I've read about doing that (to "flush" the capacitors) and I didn't do this, but unplugging and waiting a bit (also recommended when rebooting your modem and router) worked fine for me.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. The first piece of advice was the best - don't panic! When Solution 1 didn't work, looked at the "system restore" panel. While looking around there, I noticed that my windows update was only partly completed. So I shut down my computer, let it update, and my 2 other hard drives returned. You are terrific!!!!!

If you have tried all the ways explained and didn’t work, your drive is most likely loose. Try to unscrew your laptop and fix that. You can put a hard paper to cover the space left in the drive slot. I struggled with my drive for months until I discovered that and fixed, it worked. All the best

Let me share my problem encountered and how I fixed it.
    1. Drive D is not showing up. So I followed the first step.
    2. I see the "hidden" partition but the file system is RAW.
    3. I right-click to the RAW partition and clicked "format" and make it NTFS.
    4. After the formatting is done, I right-click again the partition and clicked on "change driver and paths..."
    5. I assigned D and now the system can now read the "hidden" drive partition.
Just sharing. Might as well work on someone else' situation.

      @RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi there, thank you for your question! If you have tried all common methods to fix a connected but not appearing disk in File Explorer, there are a few other solutions to try. You can open Disk Management by typing "diskmgmt.msc" in the Run dialog box, right-click on the disk that is not showing up, select "Change Drive Letter and Paths", click "Add", and choose a drive letter that is not in use. Alternatively, you can use Command Prompt as an administrator and type "diskpart", then "list disk" to see all connected disks, identify the problematic disk, type "select disk X" (replace "X" with the disk number), "clean" to wipe the disk, "create partition primary" to create a new partition, and "assign letter=X" (replace "X" with the desired letter). Additionally, it is worth checking for hardware issues by trying a different USB port or cable, or connecting the disk to another computer to see if it appears there.

Good video. D: disappeared with crucial office data. What a ruckus it caused! The suggestions in video didn't help but as someone in the comments mentioned, removing laptop battery, removing the SSD, cleaning the connectors and removing dust and putting them back resolved the issue. Gosh. What a stress and thank you to everyone for the great comments and suggestions.

If this video didn't work, and this issue happened right after doing things inside your pc, chanses are, like me, you broke your SATA port for your hard drive. To fix, just swap the cable of your hard drive to a different SATA port, and make sure it is in good.

Brilliant video, very to the point and easy to understand. However, none of these solutions worked.
    1. Rescanning did not find the drive.
    2. System restore to two seperate points failed, as it said it couldn't find a certain file and was cancelled so the restore was cancelled.
    3. I can not acces Group Policy Manager. gpedit.msc didn't bring up anything
    4. All drivers are up to date
    5. Couldn't change the drive letter as it couldn't find the drive.
I'll for sure drop a like on this video though because even though it didn't work for me it's very well presented!

Hey there! I think I found a solution! I had the same issues, and my system restores even ended up bluescreening. These got me thinking that it's a problem with the physical aspect of your devices. Yes, despite the fact that POST didn't signal any errors, I highly reccomend you take a look at how your SATA/SSD drives are fixed in. In my case, I've messed around with the cables. Usually your drive is fixed by 2 distinct ones. I think one of them thick, with 3 cables at the end, colored red, yellor and black. Thats your SATA power cable, which should be fine if your PC booted up in the first place. The issue in my case was with the second cable. Its red, flat and similar to the cables you can see in old school phones, with spring like rotation. It seemed to sit a little awkward, so I took it out (BEWARE: MAKE SURE YOUR PC ISNT PLUGGED IN) , blew off a little dust, and insterted it back in, this time fitted tighter. I also changed the motherboard port in which I put the 2nd end of the cable. Your motherboard most likely has 1-4 SATA ports which all look similar and serve the same function. In case one was damaged, I decided to put the second half in a different port from the original. Lo and behold, upon booting up, the drive was there once again!

Good Day, first of all thanks alot for this informative video, i really loved your content. I have tried all your steps that you have mentioned in this video, but unfortunately it did not fix my issue. So what worked for me is as below:
    1. I tried to update all the pending windows updates along with the firmware for devices. You can check if you have any pending updates by navigating from: Start-> Settings-> Update and Security-> Windows Update
If you have any pending updates on firmware DO FINISH those updates because it what fixed my issue.
    2. (optional) Try reconneing you hard drive cables in the laptop and do a restart.
Kindly Pin my comment as it would be helpful to other people if you can.

Hi, i have a bit of weird problem here ( at least for me ). Whenever i open 1 certain game ( just say it game a ), it always start to responding after 5 - 10 minutes playing. And after force close it ( since after waiting for 20 minutes or so the game still stop responding ), my storage drive that i use to store all the said game files, except for the said game launcher that stored on drive C by default, also stop responding. And whenever i tried to shutting down my pc, it takes longer than usual for my PC to turn off ( around 10 minutes or so ).
And here is the weird part. At first, i thought " dang....another faulty storage drive", but after i open a couple of musics, films, documents, even run another games that also stored on the very same storage, nothing happening. It run normally and i can shutting down like i usually do ( normally it takes only about 5 - 10 seconds to shutting down my pc )

My problem is it doesn't show because Windows says it's not initialized. I don't want to lose the files, but I fear the disk is faulty, or at least it's been corrupted somehow. Happened with a couple of them already. Trying to get something out of it still. But strangely there's little information about this on the Internet... Thanks.

None of these are solutions... just clean the yellow copper of your disk with an eraser and the problem will disappear.👍

I have a problem when I copied an SSD hard drive with a copy of Windows 10 and made it master and installed another hard drive, this HDD did not appear for me, knowing that the first has 240 GB and the second has 450 GB, and if I install the second master, it appears normally, is there any help?

Not sure if someone will read this comment or not but leaving this here in case it helps someone
Go to your bios settings and see if the drives are detected at all in my case just running a hard drive check/memory test solved the issue when all of the instructions in this video failed

I'm a musician and for two days I was working hard on my project and every sound pack and every VST was in my D folder. When I want to restore it wants to throw me back to 2 days ago but in 2 days I've done looots of things and I can't lose them. WTF is this seriously. Why this even happens? And also my computer started to open slow and I'm even doubtful that if I restore 2 days ago it would save my disk or not.

  • @Crawling_Sloth
    @Crawling_Sloth 2 ปีที่แล้ว

not to be rude but, the non of solutions them actually got me the drive back (restarting sometimes does).
if my drive is lost then I have to restart with a chance to get it back I made a backup when it was there and the next time it disappeared the recovery did not help.
also making the drive have another letter does not fix the issue.
and when my drive I gone I cant even scan for the drives (solution one)
ill just reboot it a few times and then hope it wont just gives up after some time.

Hi there, thank you for your question! First, check the cable and power supply to ensure they are properly connected and functioning correctly. Next, check for any drive errors using the Disk Management tool and try reformatting the drive or performing a disk check if necessary. If the issue persists, try connecting the external hard drive to a different USB port or computer to see if it's recognized.

If you are using a Windows computer, you can find the Disk Management tool by following these steps:
Press the Windows key + X on your keyboard.
In the menu that appears, select "Disk Management".
The Disk Management tool will open, displaying a list of all the storage devices connected to your computer.
Alternatively, you can also search for "Disk Management" in the Windows search bar or in the Control Panel.

I think I have a worse problem. I was playing a game and suddenly my computer just shut off. I smelled a weird burning smell coming out of my vents and I thought my whole computer died. I was able to turn it back on and it booted up just fine but then I noticed a bunch of blank icons on my desktop. I opened up This PC and where drive D should have been there was a box that says CD-ROM instead. Disk Management shows no drive D and system restore did nothing. I'm assuming that my drive D just died on me.

I have a Very Old Iomega Barracuda External Gard Drive. I have followed ALL the mentioned Advice notes in this Video and yet Nothing works at all. I also bought a USB 3.0 Sata&IDE Hard Drive Converter as I thought that this would Help. I connected the Converter to the Barracuda then to the PC. Turned the PC On and WOW I could see all the Lost Files on the Iomega once again. I then ran a Virus Check straight away on the Found Files on the Iomega. After running the Virus Check I can No Longer see the Iomega External Drive at all. Not even Disk Management can see the Drive at all. I have tried ALL the Variations on this Video and Nothing seems to Bring back the Iomega Drive at all. It is working with the Drive Converter as it keeps Buzzing away and Making Clicks now and again as though it wants to do something, But Nothing Showing Up On This Pc, No other Drives Visible anywhere. I was So Happy before running the Virus Check but Now Back to Seeing Nothing again. Can Anyway Help at ALL. Appreciated for your time and The Above Video has been followed to every Option. Many Thanks.
