*SOLVED:* My D drive is marked "uninitialized", and if I initialized it, I'm afraid it would delete all the data. Got to call my brother-in-law who's quite an expert on PC. He installed my unused USB drive (could also use burnable DVD) with a program called DLC Boot (takes like 3GB but need at least another 6GB to be unzipped), then scanned my PC in Mini Windows mode. Took like 5 hours for my 2TB harddrive to be completely scanned, and voila, I got my D drive back. *Tips:* Because harddrive would wear out faster if you add/delete/move lots of files frequently (e.g. for recording & editing purposes), he suggests to install harddrive testing apps to check your harddrive quality, such as ASTRA32. If it's poor or bad, prepare to replace it & backup/move your data to another drives. Also, try not to turn off your PC forcefully (without proper shutdown) too often, because it could contribute to faster harddrive failure.
Hi there, thank you for your question! I recommend running a scan and repair on the drive to see if it can fix any bad sectors. If that doesn't work you can try formatting the drive but this will erase all data on the drive.
@@RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware the drive disappeared again. This is so frustrating. I don’t have anything saved on the particular drive and I can’t seem to find the scan and repair feature to do what you suggest. Ty for answering tho
My issue is none of those. I was editing photos and my computer locked up. I couldn't even turn it off so I turned the power strip off like I've done before. I turned it back on and opened Lightroom. All of my photos had a question mark by then which meant that the connection with Lightroom to my hard drive was no longer there. I looked into my system and there is no D drive. My C drive is an Nvme and the D drive is a 7200 rpm disc drive. I took the drive out and used a different plug on the ribbon to plug back into the drive to see if that's what it was. Then I turned it back on. It's still not seeing it. The platters are spinning. I know that in some cases the problem is on the drive where the cable connects to it. There something that goes out on them. It can be replaced a lot of times. I don't know what else it could be. I talked to a repair man about it and he said as long as the platters are spinning he can most likely recover everything. I'll just have to buy a new drive. The dad part is, I have a 4 TB extension drive still in the box that I never set up for backup. I've had that drive for over a year now so in the box.
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you have spoken to a professional then I would recommend going with him just remember that file recovery isn't a guarantee. I would recommend not using the drive at all until he attempts to recover the data.
The D drive on the laptop disappears when I load something big on it. example: 1T - gtaV loads 1/3 of the D drive , but then the loading stops and the D drive disappears. But if I restart the laptop the D drive comes back, and if I try again after that it stops where it left off. I did a fragmentation run but found nothing wrong. Any ideas?
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you tried all the steps mentioned in the video it might be an issue with the drive itself and I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
Hi there, thank you for your question! When you try to access it make sure to right click and select open as administrator this should solve your issue.
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you tried all the steps in the video you can try use a different drive or USB to with a windows installed, to boot from that drive and access the local disk C from there and try repair the drive. You may need to change the boot order in the BIOS settings to do this. Try checking the BIOS to see if the drive is even detected by the computer as then it may be an issue with the drive itself.
Hi, i tried your (method #1 Assign D Drive Letter to the Partition via CMD). It does not work because the D Drive is still missing. Plus the size I named it D is not the actual D Drive my laptop comes with it. The actual size of my D Drive supposed to be 1 TB instead of 232 MB only.. My only question request is: - Is it possible to rename back the D drive so that this space I chose remain as it was before? (Because it is not the actual D Drive I am looking for that is missing. The size should have matched but it did not match..) Thanks if anyone could help. 😊
Hi there, thank you for your question! You can remove the incorrect drive letter by going into Disk Management, right-clicking on the 232MB partition, and selecting Remove under "Change Drive Letter and Paths." Afterward, locate your actual 1TB drive and assign the correct letter back to it. If the 1TB drive isn’t showing, check if it’s listed as unallocated space, and if it is, you might need to create a new simple volume. You can also use Device Manager to scan for hardware changes to see if that helps the drive reappear. If the drive still doesn’t show, it might be a hardware issue or require checking connections.
Hi there, thank you for your question! Then it might be an issue with the drive itself I would recommend making sure it is correctly connected to your device. Do you hear any weird noises coming for the drive this might indicate a hardware issue with the drive and you might need to seek professional help. I would also recommend checking the BIOS to see if the drive appears there.
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you tried all the steps mentioned I would recommend taking it to a professional as its most likely an issue with the drive itself.

@@RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware I switched off from the power button. After that both D and E drives got recovered. This problem happened because hard disk got damaged? What do you think?
Hi. I have a HDD with No drive letter. And in Disk Management the drive show's up but it say's Unallocated. So its asking me to format to Give it a drive letter. But i have alot of data on it, old pic and work can you help?
Hi there, thank you for your question. If your HDD is showing as "Unallocated" in Disk Management and you're prompted to format it, it means that there is no file system on the disk, or the existing file system is not recognized by the operating system. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that your data is lost.
hello. before the disappearance of my disk, I did a format from disk management and did not do a quick format. after that my disk was still there but there was no volume. after I checked in disk management it said "disk not initialized" and now it's really gone after doing rescan. I have also removed the sata cable and changed the location of the sata cable and it is still completely gone. please help me if you have any solution. thanks
Hi there, thank you for your question. It sounds like you are encountering issues with your disk after performing a format in Disk Management. If the disk is showing as "Not Initialized," it means that the disk does not have a valid partition table or is not recognized by the system. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially recover the disk: 1. Check Disk in BIOS/UEFI: Restart your computer and access the BIOS/UEFI settings. Check if the disk is detected in the BIOS/UEFI. If the disk is not recognized in the BIOS/UEFI, there may be a hardware issue. Ensure the power and data cables are securely connected. 2. Use Disk Management: Open Disk Management: Press Win + X and select "Disk Management." Initialize the Disk: Right-click on the disk that says "Not Initialized." Choose "Initialize Disk" and follow the on-screen instructions. Create a New Partition: After initializing the disk, right-click on the unallocated space. Choose "New Simple Volume" and follow the wizard to create a new partition.
Hi there, thank you for your question! Your D drive flickering in and out could be caused by hardware or connection issues. First, check the physical connections, ensuring cables are secure, and try different USB or SATA ports. Test the drive on another computer to see if the problem persists. In Device Manager, check for driver issues, and in Event Viewer, look for disk-related errors. If the drive stays connected, run chkdsk to check for file system errors. Also, review your power settings to ensure the hard drive isn’t set to turn off after inactivity. Finally, use a tool like CrystalDiskInfo to check the drive’s health through SMART data. If the issue continues, it may indicate the drive is failing, and you should back up your data immediately.
Hi there, thank you for your question! If your drive still isn't appearing I would recommend entering the Bios and seeing if it appears there if it does then it's most likely an issue you will need to troubleshoot in Windows. If it isn't appearing in your Bios it might be an issue with the drive itself and I would recommend making sure the connections are secure and trying it on a different computer if possible.
@@rezinjgersen6935 Hey did you fix it? I just had it 1 hour ago. Blue screen of death forced restart. Then I see my icons on desktop are blank. I open my computer and there is no D drive. Was that the same for you? Edit: just fixed it. If you still not fixed, let me know and Ill tell u what worked, peace.
Tips based on my experince First of all before you start the software fixing, check the cable of harddisk first (note: turnoff the power and unplug the power source) I did everything I found online to fix the missing "D" after hours of trouble shooting I found out that the cable in my drive isn't plug properly. So dont be me.
Hi there, thank you for your question! This could be due to a loose or faulty connection, a power settings issue, outdated drivers or BIOS, or potential disk problems. First, check the drive's connection, especially if it's a secondary HDD or SSD. Next, adjust your power settings by ensuring the hard disk doesn't turn off in sleep mode, and disable hibernation using the command powercfg -h off. Also, update your storage drivers and BIOS to ensure compatibility. Running a disk check with chkdsk /f /r can help identify file system errors or bad sectors. If the issue persists, it could indicate drive failure, so back up your data and run diagnostic tools from your drive's manufacturer to verify its health.
Hi there, thank you for your question! right click on the drive and select Properties, go to the Security tab, click Advanced, change the owner to Everyone, and apply the changes. Try running CMD as administrator and type these commands "takeown /f d: /r /d y", " icacls D: /t /grant everyone:F"
Hi there, thank you for your question! I would recommend clicking on the drive and selecting properties then go to security and advanced and make sure you account has permission to access the drive then restart your computer.
Hi there, thank you for your question! I would recommend opening up command prompt and try the following command chkdsk D: /f /r /x" this command will attempt to fix any disk errors, locate bad sectors, and recover readable information. If that doesn't work its most likely an issue with the drive itself and you might need to replace it.
@@RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware i tried the chkdsk /r d: And it always says theres an error after scanning the items, for hours.. Can i atleast save the datas if i jist remove the drive and replace it?
I have Lenovo IdeaPad S540 WINDOWS 11 , In my internal 1tb hdd was not showing anywhere, but sometimes it show miracle and seen some time . And it was also not seen disk mangement also, It's D DRIVE
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you started noticing that your hard drive is not showing up on Windows 11 after updating your PC, the issue might be down to the update. The solution is to uninstall the update to fix the problem with your hard drive missing on Windows 11. Outdated drivers can cause a series of hard drive errors on your PC, including this one. The quick way out, in this case, is to reinstall or update your drivers. Run a quick SFC scan: If your hard drive is not showing up in Disk Management, it might be because your system files are broken. You can fix this quickly by repairing the corrupt system files using the built-in tool or repair software. If the hard drive is not initialized, it will not show up in Disk Management. You can initialize the drive by following these steps: right-click on the Start menu, select Disk Management, right-click on the unallocated space of the hard drive, and select Initialize Disk. I hope this helps you resolve the issue with your hard drive.
the 1st solution did bring back the D: partition but it was a fail. Even though the drive is almost full it read No files. The other solutions didnt work neither on the disk management it still was no D: partition so did not have the option to change drive..But my regards to @bentoothpaste8849 it was simple , turn off the swith from the back of power supply wait a couple of min and restart, it WORKed, Thanks
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you're trying to free up space on your D drive I would recommend trying to go through it and see if any personal data is saved on their that you can backup to the cloud or store on any other drive to free up space.
Hi there, thank you for your question! Open Device Manager and look for your disk under the Disk drives branch. If it is disabled, right-click it and select Enable Device. If it is not listed, click the Scan for hardware changes button on the toolbar. Check the physical connection of your disk and make sure it is properly plugged in and receiving power. If it is an external USB disk, try a different USB port or cable. Open Disk Management and look for your disk. If it is offline, right-click it and select Online. If it is not initialized, right-click it and select Initialize Disk. If it does not have a drive letter, right-click the partition and select Change Drive Letter and Paths. If the partition is corrupted or unallocated, right-click it and select Format or New Simple Volume.

Hi there, If your external hard disk is not showing up in disk management, it's possible that there is an issue with the connection between the hard disk and your computer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue: Check the cable and connections. Check if the hard disk is spinning up. Check if the hard disk is recognized on another computer. Check the power supply. Try data recovery software. Download Recoverit here: bit.ly/3ZoowNK If none of these steps work, it's possible that the hard disk has failed and may need to be replaced.

After I updated my windwos, I ran into the problem of my PC not being able to start normally, and after further research, I found out D Drive was missing. After opening my PC via secure mode I tried to rescan. But when I went to rescan my disk, the option to actually "rescan" was blocked and gray, therefor couldnt be used.
Any ideas of help?
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you tried all the steps in the video I would recommend making sure the drive is properly connected if it is it might be an issue with the drive itself and I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
*SOLVED:*
My D drive is marked "uninitialized", and if I initialized it, I'm afraid it would delete all the data.
*Tips:*
Because harddrive would wear out faster if you add/delete/move lots of files frequently (e.g. for recording & editing purposes), he suggests to install harddrive testing apps to check your harddrive quality, such as ASTRA32. If it's poor or bad, prepare to replace it & backup/move your data to another drives.
Also, try not to turn off your PC forcefully (without proper shutdown) too often, because it could contribute to faster harddrive failure.
I keep having this issue and fixing up. But then even if I can get a game downloaded to the file it never works and says the drive is corrupted.
Help?

4:11 my local disk C is turn off where do I turn it on?
My only question request is:
- Is it possible to rename back the D drive so that this space I chose remain as it was before? (Because it is not the actual D Drive I am looking for that is missing. The size should have matched but it did not match..)
Thanks if anyone could help.
If the drive still doesn’t show, it might be a hardware issue or require checking connections.
restore to an older version method worked, thanks
what do i do if it still doesnt show up on command prompt (only show C volume) ?
Hi there, thank you for your question! Then it might be an issue with the drive itself I would recommend making sure it is correctly connected to your device. Do you hear any weird noises coming for the drive this might indicate a hardware issue with the drive and you might need to seek professional help. I would also recommend checking the BIOS to see if the drive appears there.

However, this doesn't necessarily mean that your data is lost.

hey my d driver says "recovery" can you help
hello. before the disappearance of my disk, I did a format from disk management and did not do a quick format. after that my disk was still there but there was no volume. after I checked in disk management it said "disk not initialized" and now it's really gone after doing rescan. I have also removed the sata cable and changed the location of the sata cable and it is still completely gone. please help me if you have any solution. thanks
i can't do assign letter cuz that drive volume want to assign letter doesn't show up
Hi there, thank you for your question. It sounds like you are encountering issues with your disk after performing a format in Disk Management. If the disk is showing as "Not Initialized," it means that the disk does not have a valid partition table or is not recognized by the system. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially recover the disk:
1. Check Disk in BIOS/UEFI:
Restart your computer and access the BIOS/UEFI settings.
Check if the disk is detected in the BIOS/UEFI.
If the disk is not recognized in the BIOS/UEFI, there may be a hardware issue. Ensure the power and data cables are securely connected.
2. Use Disk Management:
Open Disk Management:
Press Win + X and select "Disk Management."
Initialize the Disk:
Right-click on the disk that says "Not Initialized."
Choose "Initialize Disk" and follow the on-screen instructions.
Create a New Partition:
After initializing the disk, right-click on the unallocated space.
Choose "New Simple Volume" and follow the wizard to create a new partition.

My d drive keeps flickering in and out and keeps appearing and didappearing in disk management

Tips based on my experince
First of all before you start the software fixing, check the cable of harddisk first (note: turnoff the power and unplug the power source)
I did everything I found online to fix the missing "D" after hours of trouble shooting I found out that the cable in my drive isn't plug properly.
So dont be me.
My E drive is missing. Do I go through the same steps to recover it?
Hi there, thank you for your question! Yes you do.
when i start my laptop in shows me my drive when i restart it or puut my laptop in sleep mode it jst vanish my drive help plss

I would recommend opening up command prompt and try the following command chkdsk D: /f /r /x" this command will attempt to fix any disk errors, locate bad sectors, and recover readable information. If that doesn't work its most likely an issue with the drive itself and you might need to replace it.

The other solutions didnt work neither on the disk management it still was no D: partition so did not have the option to change drive..But my regards to @bentoothpaste8849 it was simple , turn off the swith from the back of power supply wait a couple of min and restart, it WORKed, Thanks

what to do if my all disk are not showing accept C drive ? and these all solutions didn't worked!😭

Hi there,
If your external hard disk is not showing up in disk management, it's possible that there is an issue with the connection between the hard disk and your computer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Check the cable and connections.
Check if the hard disk is spinning up.
Check if the hard disk is recognized on another computer.
Check the power supply.
Try data recovery software. Download Recoverit here: bit.ly/3ZoowNK
If none of these steps work, it's possible that the hard disk has failed and may need to be replaced.
