A little misleading in that formatting the drive was a quick format, which simply overwrites the FAT and marks the space as free. Also, Recuva's capacity to restore files will depend on the colour of the circle before the file name-green for a very good chance of recovery, yellow for 50/50, and red for near zero.
@@CyberCPU Point is that quick format is practically identical to just deleting the files if not entirely identical. It also won't damage flash memory like a full format would since no bytes are actually being overwritten. If there is a tool that can recover reliably from a fully formatted drive that would be quite something. This is great information for the average user who might not have known this was possible though.
@@soulstenance it isn't possible in most cases. In the case of an accidental format, it's likely it will be a quick format. I don't know of a way to reliably recover files from a regular format.
Always go into data recovery attempts with a very high expectation of failure. Having thoroughly tested and attempted to use many products over the decades, few have any value at all. Recover (phonetically think bruvva) is the correct pronunciation from what the company told me many years ago.
Good video, however, when you delete it from the SD card, just because it does not go into the recycle bin does not mean they are deleted. They don't get really deleted until you remove the SD card because they are stored in a temp location and sometimes depending on availability, in memory. To prove that, simply hit CTRL + Z and your files will return. To permanently delete the files, hit Shift + Delete.
I accidently deleted files on my sd card and my gf told me to CTRL + Z but it didn't work. I think its because of what you said. I only have like 20 gigs on my laptop available and the sd card is in the 60s. Good comment. I hope it goes up in the comment sections. Also tried the app and it worked! Worked too well. brought back stuff I had long ago deleted lol
Thank you so much for your video. It literally SAVED me in restoring my valuable baby pictures of my kids after having them all deleted after formatting the SD card. It worked 🎉🎉

In case of a formatted drive, restore the deleted partition with Testdisk instead. Only works if nothing else happened to the formatted drive after it being formatted. Also of course it only works with quick formatted drives. He forgot to mention the important difference between quick and full format I guess.

I recently bought a second hand WD Elements 18TB external USB hard drive for backup purposes. I initialised the drive on a Win 10 pro system and created a new simple volume but when formatting the drive I un-checked the quick format option and did a full format - it took 28 hours to complete. I did this believing that all data on this drive belonging to the previous owner would now be permantently deleted and un-recoverable. In your video you formated the SD card leaving the quick format box checked. Could you comment on the difference between quick and full formatting and whether or not a full format really does completely reset the drive to factory state? I was trying to find a way to convert an Mac APFS to NTFS, without data loss, to share a bunch of files with a PC user. My Partition Wizard program would not convert APFS to NTFS without data loss. I even called the company and ask if it was possible. They said not possible. Then I got the idea to use the data recovery component of my Partition Wizard to "recover" files from the APFS partition and "restore" them to an NTFS partition. It worked great.

Going with what you said on recovering "accidently" dot dot dot.. A good video on that line would be if someone has a USB-drive or any that when plugged in does not show it or say's it's corrupted.. I have, for a few clients attempted to bring back from the dead, those mentioned drives.. It took me a couple weeks to figure it out, but most of them I was able to recover data or make it usable again. The only ones I could not "FIX" were those with physical damage and a couple that were literally fried.. I believe this could make a very viewed video.. Problem is (if I have it right) the original user profile was deleted in my amateur process. I can see a new profile. There was a time where I could see all my files under the original profile but now that folder is empty. I once had a hard drive that wouldn't boot at all. I had to learn how to use Test Disk and Photo Rec which are Linux based recovery tools. I had zero experience with Linux but I finally figured it out and got all my data files and photos back. I then trashed that HDD for a new one and reinstalled Windows. I've used Recuva to get back files and photos before even long after I realized I had deleted stuff. Luckily the files weren't overwritten and recoverd nicely. It works well.
What happens if you instead, simply delete the partition on a hard disk instead of actually formatting it? Are the file names still lost or can you get them back?
Can I use the software to recover from a factory-reset iPhone 4(yes a 2010 iPhone)? The data is still on the phone (the phone is locked, and iTunes won't open it but states to do a factory reset). (I never uploaded the data from the phone to the cloud.)
In your windows key, your ad showed a windows oem key. It will only work on the computer that you first install it on. A retail key will work on a new computer if you upgrade to a new computer.
Thank you! Finding genuinely good data recovery software can be challenging, as many are just disguised advertisements for paid services that capitalize on the urgency of data recovery needs. Your authenticity is appreciated.
So I wonder if you had the system running for a day or longer in idle or on a game or something. Would you have the same success? Since there’s the chance it’ll get overwritten?
Hello, I Watched your video discussing Recuva. Thanks for sharing such a informational video. Could you provide guidance on which software is better between Recuva and Stellar for data recovery? I'm currently facing data loss and I'm uncertain which software to try. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Rich, thank you for the great work. Just a quick one. If the files i needed to recover on the drive / computer were saved on the desktop, documents or downloads. How do I go about that?
Great video but what deleter can you sure to fully erase the SSD so Diskdrill ect cant find any and did you have to have TRIM on or off. Is better to encrypt whole SSD THEN do a full erase? Are their literally "hidden, reserved" blocks or data these erase programs miss and those blocks could have data on them? Egs are Windows "reset" erase and BIOS erase and CCleaner and 3rd party. do they all do roughly the same level of "erased" .thanks..
I tried to use Recuva on my Windows laptop since my Android table formatted the microsd card without even asking me for some reason. After waiting an hour for the Windows laptop to fully finish booting up despite my best efforts to remove the bloatware from the thing a while ago I ran Recuva 11pm last night and just when it only one hour left on the deep scan the program crashed so that is 24 hours wasted. I don't know if it was the ram, the program or the fact that it has Windows which is the worse OS on the planet, this is why I defected to Chromebooks since while I have issues with Google I hated Windows for years and this event was a reminder of it. I hope people have a better luck then I did.
pls note to windows 11 xml users this will help you using it if you accidently turned off the other hard drives i panic i thought it was over but i found my files that recuva works for my junky files I got them back!
Off topic question: About a year ago my Windows 10 Pro had a melt down and I spent a great deal of time fixing it, although I managed to loose my ability to log into my MS Account - I have a permanent license. I Could not recover my MS account as I had to supply a number of recent incoming email addys. I supplied many but MS would not accept them - they were from people in Real-estate and various Government agencies. All of them had very long addys, with many . this and . that as well as / this and /that. Can a Licensed MS tech phone MS and set my account straight again? so thankful of you, saved my day, its worked.
Worked like a charm👌, thank you!
Was able to completely recover some files I absent-mindedly deleted, thinking I had already done a backup. Many thanks!
Are the file names still lost or can you get them back?
did you find any software usefull please help me out>>>
Can I use the software to recover from a factory-reset iPhone 4(yes a 2010 iPhone)? The data is still on the phone (the phone is locked, and iTunes won't open it but states to do a factory reset). (I never uploaded the data from the phone to the cloud.)
Amazing Info. Simple explained and very effective
Subscribed! Will this also work with corporate encrypted storage devices?
No. I highly doubt it.
In your windows key, your ad showed a windows oem key. It will only work on the computer that you first install it on. A retail key will work on a new computer if you upgrade to a new computer.
This sounds amazing, gotta try it out soon :D was close to buy software, thank god i found your video.
TY so much for the educational videos!!
One shot guide ... Thank You !
It is possible to recover the partition table and all files keep the names. with a open-source software - it is a common tool for linux.
Thanks a lot! It worked like a charm ;-)
Glad I found your valued information - thanks
Hello,
I Watched your video discussing Recuva.
Egs are Windows "reset" erase and BIOS erase and CCleaner and 3rd party. do they all do roughly the same level of "erased" .thanks..
crazy dude🔥
I am an author, and I just accidently formatted my drive. I lost everything. I hope this works even a little bit
If it was a quick format then it probably will. Let me know how it works out. Hope it works for you.
@@CyberCPU Thank you, and it was quick format, but unfortunately, it did not work.
@@Bellalovelola Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately once the data is written over there's not much you can do.
Please, is it compatible with IPhone? Kindly advise. Thnx a lot.
Awesome video, I checked your channel, your video is funny! You earned a subscriber, Take care!
How does Hiren's BootCD PE works? Make a video about Hiren's BootCD PE

Hello, I want to say thank you very much. I deleted a video recording and I was able to recover it
I tried to use Recuva on my Windows laptop since my Android table formatted the microsd card without even asking me for some reason.
Can you get data off a mobile phone if you connect it to your computer with this method?
Bless. Works 1/12/23 actually free!
Thank you so much for your invaluable information, highly appreciate it, keep it up the outstanding job, have a great day.
Subscribed, this is an exceptional content and your explanation is articulated and on point, it was a masterclass on fixing problems.
Awesome awesome video!!
By the way, pronunciation of the software has to be re-cuh-ver (as in the word 'RECOVER') 😜
My standard issue Outlook has been toast ever since. In general I need to know this so as I can be specific if this will work. I am in Canada so MS should be the same here.👍
Will this work for SD cards that have been re-formatted? Or just computer drives?
yine faydalı bir video editlemişsin.. ellerine sağlık dostum
Just remembered a 2TB drive I had shelved a couple of years back as it was partitioned in half and had data on both partitions, when it lost the partition. I did not know how or if I could recover the data so I just shelved the drive.
Any thoughts ?

I been looking for a new desk. Would you mind sharing the ones you have?
They are two adjustable work tables from Home Depot. They have a crank that adjusts their height like a standing desk.
@@CyberCPUAwesome, thanks!
@@CyberCPU The name of Recuva, I think, is a play on a NY or Boston accent - Recova instead of recover?
for the goatee, I subscribe good sir...
Any test version, like recovering a tiny video?😮
I am JB George, thank you so so sos much for this video guiding me to recover pictures from formatted SDcard
