Eric, you deserve the biggest respect from Switzerland to appreciate our craftmanship! As I know you are the only YTchannel able to present and shoot a full auto SIG/SAN 552 Commando can you make an update/comparison video to similar Carbines or a SAN 553? Love from Switzerland!
TheProfessorDank- I am with you. Been a CZ fan for a long time. Different pistols have come and gone in my safe, but my CZ 75 always returns to the top spot.
I hate them. There isn't shit to rack them with, the sear cage is technical as fuck, and the grip feel is nothing compared to a custom modded glock frame.
Dohn Joe no need to customize the CZ's grip, can rack a round with my hand with my pants my holster my boot, and depending on what model you have(de-cocker/manual safety) I guess you could get confused with the sear cage. But I like your points and respect your opinion as long as it's not sig.
So you just compared a custom modded Glock to a stock CZ? Yea, sear cage can be a bit confusing at times, but easily learn-able. Racking is also easy as hell. I can more easily rack my CZ than my G40, the serrations and grip on the CZ are aggressive, unlike the G40 which is very mild. I compare my CZ to my FN509 all day in ability to rack.
The Sphinx SDP is a remarkable pistol. Defenitely my favourite gun I've ever shot. They were manufactured just across the lake where I live. If you ever have the opportunity to take a SDP to the range, do it!
I like videos like this vs just watching you guys shoot. This “show and tell” is WAY more educational than watching two dudes shoot steel and pop bottles.
When making comparisons with the Sphinx, you need to look at the CZ Custom Shop offerings . . . prices and features are much more comparable. I made this comparison myself a few years ago and went with the CZ Custom Pro-Tek II, which takes the P-01 to a highly refined level.
Tanfoglios have been popular with the ipsc crowed, my STOCK 2 have been running great! They respond great to trigger jobs and are pretty easy to work on
I'm just a regular 26 yr old trying to defend my family. I first bought a tp9sa and shot around 2500 rounds of 9mm (2k of Tula&500ofbrass) on a tight budget between bills and my family I provide for. I loved it but when it came to concealment I had issues being 160 lbs and 5'6". Saw a Tristar c-100 sitting in academy's show case one day and saved up for 6 months to buy one,the day came and it had been sold earlier that week. Put the money towards bills and moved on. As soon as I saw academy put one in they're case when they got the next one, it served as my CCW and a quick birthday present (perfect timing). I was a bit hesitant be there wasn't much info out on the internet about it but I'll tell you I love carrying it as much as my g19 and it is much more easy to put on target than my g19. That being said I don't carry it bc I can hand my stock g19 to the police and go get a new soulless Glock but I can't replace my cz. (Call a kimber a clone!)
I've had a CZ 75 since early 2000, no one at my range at the time ever saw or shot one, now their everywhere. Great quality. And their long guns are awesome!
I totally agree with you on '75 clones. I purchased a Phillipino made CZ clone back in 2008 and it is my secondary back up gun. It is designed as a full size service piece, polymer frame, laser mount under the barrel, double/single action (abt 15/4 lbs pull) standard mil sights, 16rd mag, and about the $400 range. It is everything a standard CZ-75 is except for price and weight (it's a tad lighter due to the poly frame). Good gun, but not a CZ or maybe a Springfield, but it is everything I seek in a pistol - ergonomic, accurate, easy access to accessories, and reliable.
I've never seen one in the flesh (rather, steel) but they seem nice. If it's anything like the rest of Swiss made things I own, it'll be very nice with a commensurate price. ($800-900 doesn't seem so bad considering)
I'm a huge CZ-75 fan and i couldn't click the thumbs up button quick enough. Awesome review Eric and if i had the money i would love to get me a Sphinx SDP, but their a little bit out of my price range.
@Iraqveteran8888 - I know this is an older video, but if you could only have one and it would be your only gun, would you take the Sphinx SDP Alpha or a CZ P01? Many thanks!
@@WagaBags I have owned quite a few CZ pistols. They are nice. But I never really fully vibed with any of them. Just bought a P07 and despite an occurrence at the range that has made it a little difficult to fully trust it, I am vibing with it more than any other handgun I have ever owned.....and I have bought and traded a lot of handguns. Super curious about the Sphinx, and the B&T MK 2....and even the SAR cm9 now.
I would really love to see a video about the baby eagle/Jericho 941. I have a baby eagle sub compact I carried for a year and loved it. My only complaint is it’s very picky about the types of holo points you put in it.
No competition models on the Sphinx line? What about the 2000, 2000 S, and 3000 series? Maybe not available in the US, but here in Switzerland they were known to be excellent target/competition pistols (3000 titanium, flat trigger runs for more than 3000 CHF (3000 USD) and the fit and finish is even much more better good than the SDP (that is quite excellent actually). Thank you for what you do, best greetings and have a nice day
I have a CZ Rami in 9mm. It is a wonderful, handsome, reliable (never fails), compact pistol. Jeff Cooper knew what he was talking about. I love to get it out of my cabinet, and just handle it. It shares some qualities of the 1911A1. Both are beautiful.
Speaking of "Race Guns"... the Sphinx as shown here, technically was a mass-market follow-on to that company's earlier VERY high-end guns, which WERE meant for competition. All based on the basic "CZ-75 clone" configuration... But the high-end hand-fit ones meant for competition (mostly in Europe) were, as would be expected, outrageously expensive in comparison to these that are meant for the larger part of the market. If you want to do another of these "comparison" vids in this vein... Can y'all get ahold of CZ's newly-developed version that THEY made particularly for competition? CZ Shadow II. Much heaver (all steel frame), relatively long slide, high-capacity (extended mags, etc., etc). Compare that to the original -75, at least, and maybe one or two of these others. Maybe one of the slightly different-sized models from Sphinx is worth mentioning. They've got various other versions of this platform (besides this SDP) with subtle differences: different barrel/frame lengths (some extended threaded-barrels), some lower grip-frames in polymer, some aluminum, both 15 and 17 round standard capacities based on grip length (apart from using the 17-rd. mags in the "compact" 15-round frame). If you're trying to cover the gamut on CZ-75 derivatives/clones... In addition to mentioning the Baby Eagle (available in .40 S&W and .45ACP), folks also might not know that the Witness comes in a 10mm version, if someone wanted something basically equivalent to the old infamous/troubled Bren Ten that originally made the 10mm cartridge famous.
I think people should be comparing the Sphinx to the Shadow2’s the shadow2 has a closer price point and would be the higher end representation of a CZ-USA offering.
Good afternoon. Thanks for the instructional video. Can you do a comparison on the model star bm and the 1911 comparison? I enjoy watching those type of videos and your personal opinion on what you think of them. You and Hickok 45 are two of my favorites. Keep up the good work and thank you.
This video makes me think of Riding Bean and Gunsmith Cats. Kenichi Sonoda is a firearms otaku, it would be cool is you could get an interview with him. It's good video.
I have a SAR B6P and a Tristar (Canik55) P100. Both are amazing guns, of course both are CZ75 pattern pistols. As far as bang for the buck, the SAR B6P has to take the cake, but I class my Tristar as equal to a CZ in build quality. The SAR is a polymer, full size and the Tristar is an all steel compact. The P100 actually looks a bit like the Sphinx with the forward slide cuts and serrations.
I almost purchased a Sphinx SDP but I passed. Apparently they are not being made in the U.S. with leftover Swiss parts and that the quality is not the same as the fully made Swiss guns with all metal frames. Thoughts?
Question for you, not related to the subject of this video... Close to my house there is a Palmetto Armory indoor shooting range that I have used several times... up to now. Every time I went to check in, they tested my ammo (usually 9mm x18) with what appeared to be a magnet, but I never asked the reason. Last week they told me that I could not use my Wolf STEEL cased 9mm (first time used there), but would not give me a reason. I left that place and moved off to a different indoor range where they had no problems with my steel cased ammo. Why the refusal to use steel cases? Is it just because they can't make money reselling the empty cases swept off the floor? If this is the reason, how can they test if I use aluminum cased rounds? I have been reading about Federal ammo offering these rounds at a very attractive price (Mrgunsngear had high marks for these rounds) but will the situation with steel cases repeat if I use the aluminum cased rounds? Your input, please.
Are all Omega Triggers modular? Such as CZ P-09 and the cz-75B? Once had a 75B omega but it didnt come with extra trigger parts like my p-09 omega. In addition the standard cz trigger costed more than the omegas when compareing the 75b vs 75b omega. Not sure if its true today. but back in 2012? is around when i was looking at these prices.
What, no mention of the gen 2 P 07, the exact CZ that the Spinx copies? Oh, I see what you're doing there, setting the stage for more CZ75 vs Clone videos. Bring 'em on! Still, you could have plugged the P07, at $500 less than the Spinx. Love you guys!
I have the SDP, a Tangfolio Witness 45 cal, a CZ 75 SAO and a CZ 75 PC. Love them all. I am more accurate with these pistols than virtually any other pistol I own. My SDP does have tritium night sights and a Fiber Optic front sight, differing from Eric's.
Hey brother. Love your videos, and I’m saving “my allowance” for a Sphinx SDP....anyway, do you play a Fender? Been a bassist for quite some time and just picked up a 63 AVRI Precision in faded sonic blue...awesome!! Sorry for the derail.....back to the firearms discussion.
Your admiration for Swiss guns is not misplaced. I have both a Swiss made AT-84S and a Czech CZ-75. Both great guns, but the Swiss gun is definitely more finely fitted and finished. I guess you could say more "refined."
Jim Price to me the CZ has a thick layer of cold war gun nostalgia before EVERY gun needed an accessory rail, optics, lasers, grip, flash light, and custom grips to be a "good gun".
Not sure what your point is. Neither the AT-84S nor my CZ have any accessory rails. The AT-84S is nothing more than a CZ-75B made in Switzerland at a time when CZs were nearly unobtainable in the U.S. But in true Swiss tradition, it is more nicely made than the original CZ.
Why did you not compare it to a CZ PO7? It is directed at the PO7, it even looks exactly like the gen 2 and the similarity in the name with the gen 1 being the duty model.
CZ 75-SP-01 is an amazing gun, also the CZ Shadow is awesome. I get more compliments on my highly modded, arm brace CZ Scorpion too. CZ is my favorite manufacturer, Sig has gone from top to worst
Good video, but it makes me wonder why everyone is only looking at CZ, when for example there is also GrandPower from Slovakia who have also a pretty unique design with a rotating barrel that works really well :) check it out.
Sorry if this has been answered already, but can you run CZ mags in a Sphinx? Would it be a way to increase the rounds count as a carry spare if you were carrying a Sphinx? Keep up the great work Eric and Chad!
Sphinx SDP duty size has a 17 round capacity. I have one and love it. Thanks for the video!
You can get 19 Rd mags for cz
Definitely keep up the comparison videos, I always learn something new.!!
Love CZ's, recoil is so controllable, and they fit my hand so much better than a Glock.
TheProfessorDank
Their service could not be any worse than Glocks.

I think with both of these pistols, you get what you pay for.
The Sphinx SDP is a remarkable pistol. Defenitely my favourite gun I've ever shot. They were manufactured just across the lake where I live. If you ever have the opportunity to take a SDP to the range, do it!
Thank you for the excellent review/comparison. I have a CZ 75D Compact PCR and a Sphinx SDP Compact and am very glad to have both in my collection.
I like videos like this vs just watching you guys shoot. This “show and tell” is WAY more educational than watching two dudes shoot steel and pop bottles.
I'm a proud owner of a Tanfoglio/EAA Witness-P. Love that gun. It was my first handgun. A comparison between the CZ and Witnesses would be cool
Rad guns. Would like to see a review of their 10mm.
Tanfoglio is less accurate. That's basically it.
The canik 55 czs were my favorites. Theyre long out of stock.
Great vid! I wish there were more DA/SA comparison vids! Please do more.
Y’all make great videos. Your comparison videos are top notch. 👍

I ordered me an all aluminum lower sphinx Saturday. I should get it Friday. I'm excited!! Thanks for the videos on the sphinx.
I miss the old man.
lots of wisdom left the Earth with Barry.
I need to ask my boss for a raise so I can afford more sexy pistols.
Tanfoglios have been popular with the ipsc crowed, my STOCK 2 have been running great! They respond great to trigger jobs and are pretty easy to work on

I used to shoot ipsc competitions with an m&p then moved to cz sp01 shadow orange and holy moly, love it. 👍🏻 still have my m&p though. 🍻
I've had a CZ 75 since early 2000, no one at my range at the time ever saw or shot one, now their everywhere. Great quality. And their long guns are awesome!
P-07 vs Sphinx. You'll see a lot more similarities.
P07 half the price
Sphinx 2000 (or was it 3000) and a tanfoglio gold match extreme would be a cool comparison.
I totally agree with you on '75 clones. I purchased a Phillipino made CZ clone back in 2008 and it is my secondary back up gun. Excellent Video, Eric! I purchased a T-Shirt form Forged From Freedom, the John Browning T! Love it!!!
Yes, I love the comparison videos. Please compare the shield to the bodyguard and other carry pistols including the economy model Kahr pistols.
I've never seen one in the flesh (rather, steel) but they seem nice. If it's anything like the rest of Swiss made things I own, it'll be very nice with a commensurate price.
($800-900 doesn't seem so bad considering)
I really appreciate the video. I really like this format. I'd like to see some of this with some of the Sig vs Steyr pistols. Thanks!
ThumperDelta Resistance, that's not fair, Steyr pistols function properly.
King Baldwin IV I agree, I live in Birmingham AL, where Steyr moved to. I have a GREAT Steyr Mannlicher Pro Hunter 30-06.
ThumperDelta Resistance, an older model M9 is my carry pistol.
Have both a sphinx and a cz p01love them both great guns, only issue I have with my sphinx is it is more ammo sensitive than the cz
Different CZ full size would be something cool spo1 shadow Shadow 2 spo1 tactical explaining the differences between them all 😀
The original 75 is my favourite wonder 9. In my (biased) opinion, the finest pistol ever.
I'm a huge CZ-75 fan and i couldn't click the thumbs up button quick enough. Awesome review Eric and if i had the money i would love to get me a Sphinx SDP, but their a little bit out of my price range.
If you click it a even number of times, you give him 0 likes
@Iraqveteran8888 - I know this is an older video, but if you could only have one and it would be your only gun, would you take the Sphinx SDP Alpha or a CZ P01? Many thanks!
I have owned both including a P-07. After new sights and a little trigger work the Sphinx is far superior. I sold the others
@@WagaBags I have owned quite a few CZ pistols. They are nice. But I never really fully vibed with any of them. I like this concept: it'd make a great series. "Clone Wars", where classics and their clones go head to head.
Para mí la CZ 75 es una de las mejores pistolas 9 mm del planeta.
For me Ceska 75 is one of the best 9 mm pistols on the World.
I do like these videos! You should do new budget guns?
CZ75b Omega Convertible is a awesome pistol. Just picked one up.
I have all three in my collection. All three are on my top 10 list. Definitely keepers. Thanks for the video. 🇺🇸🇨🇱

Where that Chad fellow go?
He's still developing load data for his .224 Valkyrie
He was shooting in the video

Cz75b is my truck gun ,love the videos thanks for sharing cool stuff
how about a comparison between the different CZ'z....keep up the great work
I really like the look of those older 75's. It reminds me of a browning hi power a bit. I will have to add one to my collection.
BlackSheep i believe their based on the hi power, just czech-enized
I think people should be comparing the Sphinx to the Shadow2’s the shadow2 has a closer price point and would be the higher end representation of a CZ-USA offering.
Love my CZ, would like a comparison video of the CZ 75 and the Browning hipower
Take a look at the tangfolio's! I love my witness match in 40. Got my eye on a 10mm Tanfoglio hunter.
Good afternoon. Thanks for the instructional video. Can you do a comparison on the model star bm and the 1911 comparison? I enjoy watching those type of videos and your personal opinion on what you think of them. You and Hickok 45 are two of my favorites. Keep up the good work and thank you.
2nd comment! Woo! Love my SDP, Love this Channel and LOVE the 2nd Amendment and the good ‘ol US of A!
CZ75 is a nice gun but the sphinx SDP looks more smoother less recoil the better accuracy. Barry next time you do a gun video compare the two
Any CZ 75 style pistol is hammer fired perfection but it's kind of strange that you didn't compare the Sphinx to the P07 or P09.
As much as I love my sphinx and how glassy smooth it is, my P09 is the best shooting gun I own
This video makes me think of Riding Bean and Gunsmith Cats.
Thoughts?
I really like the Sphinx. It'd probably be a go to for me if they'd release the full sized version. Hope someday.
john jones they have I believe, it's called the SDP Duty.
Sphinx definitely makes a long slide race gun. It's called the Sphinx 2000 & 3000. Pretty sure it was one of their first designs before the SDP line.
Brook Ford out of production.
yes more of these videos please
I would rather have a CZ P01 SDP then the Sphinx, but man I can close them on there just drop that gorgeous
Question for you, not related to the subject of this video...

Eric, I don't care what kind of videos you make....I see an IV8888 notification and I click that bitch, keep up the great work!
Had a Sphinx SDP. I had to scap it after about 6000 rounds through it. Frame was worn out. Really loved that gun though.
That is way too few rounds to be worn out from normal use. Are you sure there were no defects that caused that? Did you try to warranty it?
What, no mention of the gen 2 P 07, the exact CZ that the Spinx copies? Oh, I see what you're doing there, setting the stage for more CZ75 vs Clone videos. Bring 'em on! Still, you could have plugged the P07, at $500 less than the Spinx. Love you guys!
Thank you... great info
Im heading to the range with my cz85 combat. Nice to see cz vids
Would love to see more vids like this
I have the SDP, a Tangfolio Witness 45 cal, a CZ 75 SAO and a CZ 75 PC. Love them all. I am more accurate with these pistols than virtually any other pistol I own. My SDP does have tritium night sights and a Fiber Optic front sight, differing from Eric's.
Raymond Nelson what sights are those? Thanks
I have 3 CZ rifles and a CZ pistol. You can`t go wrong with these. Seriously...….
Sphinx out of box de cocker trigger is amazing... need cajungunworks to make the 75 decockers decent.
Such beautiful pistols.
CZ’s were the best kept secret in the world until u guys started covering them.....
Maybe do a vid on the differences between the cz75, the Glock, the sign p226, Beretta m9. Like compare the original 9mms of m'erica.
Would comparing it to the P-07, I know they are super similar plus they look very similar.
Your admiration for Swiss guns is not misplaced. I have both a Swiss made AT-84S and a Czech CZ-75. Both great guns, but the Swiss gun is definitely more finely fitted and finished. I guess you could say more "refined."

How about a vid comparison of an original CZ with some of the early clones like the TZ-personal favorite, was my first pistol-and then the modern BD.
Yes like to see a comparison between a glock 19 mos, and a p320 x carry
Please try the sphinx 3000. Its the rolex of pistols
Is Chad alive..?
Great video thanks
I would like to see how a CZ 75B compares to a Browning Highpower. Similar size, weight, ergonomics and price.
Why did you not compare it to a CZ PO7? It is directed at the PO7, it even looks exactly like the gen 2 and the similarity in the name with the gen 1 being the duty model.
It looks like the P-07 but the lockwork is CZ 75 based.
awesome video would be interested in an H9 mid range 1911 Glock(or any striker fired pistol) comparison
I would really like to see a S&W x frame vs the magnum research BFR revolvers.
you guys should see if another gun such as two hipoint pistols would work as body armor
Regáleme uno en vez de dañarlos jajajaj. Excelentes videos saludos 👍👍👍
Iraqveteran8888: I would love to see a comparison/contrast video of the Browning Hi-Power, and the Hungarian made FEG Mod PJK-9HP.
Does anyone know if the Sphinx and CZ75 magazine base pads are interchangeable? Trying to get some extended ones for the Subcompact.
Gun Gripes Suggestion: "Why don't bolt actions have iron sights anymore?"
Please.
CZ 75-SP-01 is an amazing gun, also the CZ Shadow is awesome. I get more compliments on my highly modded, arm brace CZ Scorpion too.
CZ is my favorite manufacturer, Sig has gone from top to worst
I’m thinking about purchasing a Sphinx for my new carry gun. Would you carry this gun if you had the chance?
You should do a FAL vs M-14 video. Maybe something like a re vamp of the old US trials?
How about the IWI pistols? Not too much about them on the TUBE. Also, when will we see tha Man Can vid for June? I looked for it but couldn't find it.
like that cz75 looks very nice.
Huge CZ fan. The Sphinx looks awesome as well.
Im am a south african cop we have the vektor z88 a clone of the bretta 92 , love from sa
Good video, but it makes me wonder why everyone is only looking at CZ, when for example there is also GrandPower from Slovakia who have also a pretty unique design with a rotating barrel that works really well :) check it out.
Terry_42 Price diffrence plays a role, definitely.
Rotating barrel designs fail hard when they get dirty. The locking lug design is far superior.
You can't get your hands on one to try them out. They are few and far between.
afrosheenix I love my X-Calibur but this is the truth. If you get carbon buildup in the wrong spot the entire slide locks up.
afrosheenix Don’t say that to the Px4 or Earnest Langdon.
Sorry if this has been answered already, but can you run CZ mags in a Sphinx? Would it be a way to increase the rounds count as a carry spare if you were carrying a Sphinx? Keep up the great work Eric and Chad!
Phantom is adopted by our standard military ... we call it poor man´s Shadow ...
For good competition go and get Shadow 2
