I bought the sphinx a few months ago and love it. Found it for 729 on gun broker. Plenty of them in a bunch of color options. Haven't had a single failure of any kind so far. 500 rounds in. Shot 250 the first time out, didn't clean it, went back 2 weeks later and shot another 250. Every round fed and fired without a single jam of any sort. I shot 7 different types of ammo, even did 2 of each in 1 magazine, and still it fed fine and shot flawlessly. 85grain frangible, 115 fmj and hollow, 124 fmj and hollow, 147 fmj and hollow. Different brands too, can't get it to hiccup at all. This is the only gun I've had that hasn't had a single failure to feed, not fully go into battery, failure to eject properly, stove pipe...or Something! I own over 10 handguns, and this is the only one that's done this for this many rounds and ammo types. I usually find something that the gun just doesn't like, but not this. If may become my favorite handgun. Other than the weight, I can't find a reason to not like it.
Currently over 14K of numerous different grains and of different manufacturers with NOT one malfunction. The Sphinx SDP is a serious pistol that I depend on for CCW. The CZ P07 is also in my rotation and it has 9K rounds and still flawless.
No brainer po7 shoots as well ! Sphinx has better grip , but put talon grips on po7 saves the day . Buy the po7 save money buy a boat load of ammo and go have fun . IMO Big J ! K
I have two Sphinx SDP and am very happy with both. Neither have malfunctioned after around 300 rounds through each. Both of mine have lighter SA/DA triggers than yours. Accuracy is good. Both are very tight slide to frame fit. They are very high quality built pistols. I would highly recommend a Sphinx for anyone thinking about getting it. I bought my Burnt Bronze model with night sights and my Alpha Wolf each for $820 shipped from Prepper Gun Shop. Thanks for the review Big Johnson, I have a gun show coming in two weeks I may take a look at the P0-7 but I really want a 97B.
I have the Sphinx SDP Compact and absolutely love it. I do agree that the CZ P07 is a nice pistol. I bought recommended it to my nephew who purchased it as well as a friend. They are both happy with their choices. I also agree that the Sphinx has a better feel to the trigger, which for me enhances accuracy. Can't go wrong with either.
I have the Sphinx SDP Compact and Duty. They are exceptional weapons. I have not tried the P07...but now will have to give it a shot. The Sphinx has a flawless fit and finish and you can see the attention to detail that went into it. I just cannot see that the P07 could beat it out in feel and quality. I love my CZ pistols (SP-01, PCR and RAMI) so I do have some educated opinion's. I think the SP-01 may be my favorite pistol of all that I own. Except for possibly my Colt Gunsite Stainless Full-Size 1911.
Shot a P-07 at the range today. Very nice pistol...and VERY similar to the Sphinx. But...in my opinion...it DEFINITELY is not at the same quality and performance level of the Sphinx. It is however, nice enough to put on my radar as a future pistol to add to the collection. FWIW.
Great minds think alike , I have similar video coming up in day or two. I have a Duty model that doesn't have interchangeable back straps , but has lighter trigger then Sphinx as well. Don't have enough experience on Sphinx to make decision which one is better , but I can say for sure you can't go wrong with either one.
I have both, not sure if you mentioned price? P-07 is roughly half the price of the Sphinx. You can also buy a Cajun P-07 for the price of the Sphinx and have a way better trigger. That being said I love both and carry both in my rotation. I will also mention sight options are better for the P-07.
I like them both as well, However You may need to check out my Sphinx video with modern Weapon Trigger Kit & there new sight set I put on! It’s a shooter & Now the Sphinx shoots like my Shadow 2 but in a Compact. TFW Carry On
Big Johnson Guns and Gear I will check it out. I have seen the modern weapons stuff, my Sphinx has some Cajun work done and now the trigger is as good as the Cajun P-07. I love upgrading stuff but really for less money the Cajun P-07 would be a better option price wise if you could only have one.
I have both as well...my Sphinx is *amazing* with a CGW hammer spring and firing pin spring kit. The grip panels on the Sphinx feel so good...soft and pliable but supportive at the same time (impossible to describe until you grip the SDP). However, carry my P07 daily (not as much though since I bought my 2075 RAMI) since it's 90% of the SDP and almost 1/2 the cost.
Good video Big J. Don't own a SDP. But I do have a Sphinx 3000. And I gotta say it has a fantastic trigger. So I'd probably pick the SDP if its anything close even with the heavier trigger. Thumbs up brother
I have an 07 on lay away, haven't read anything negative about the pistol or CZ in general, always good feedback from owners and advocates alike, I feel I made a good choice. 7 more days !!! TY Sir for this short, but sweet comparison, I might add, I do like the Sphinx also !!! Lol,, 😎🌴
If i could get that exact sphinx grip for any other gun id be happy i think the grip on the sphinx is hands down the best grip ive ever felt on a pistol
It is nice, I also put the Modern Weapons Trigger Kit in the Sphinx & it woke it up..It’s now like my Shadow 2 but in a Compact! I have vids up on it as well! TFW Carry On
Having shot your Sphinx I can appreciate how smooth that trigger is. I was actually surprised at how heavy the gauge said it was, it felt much lighter when shooting. However, the P07 was my first CZ and won me over instantly. I would buy the P07 with the threaded barrel and shoot the snot out of it.
I just got a P-07 the other day because I've enjoyed my PCR so much. I love it! Such a soft shooter and it's built like a fucking tank. Dat finish tho, it's the most durable looking pistol I've ever seen. Only issue I had is the set screw for the rear sight was a bit loose so I put some blue loctite on it and it's good as new.
Depends on your budget but between these two I get the Sphinx and put in a 15# hammer spring to lighten the trigger. The Sphinx has the better trigger ,ergos and fit/finish. However I'd like to recommend the CZ P-01 as the best option in this category if i can enter a third option. It has better trigger and ergonomics than the P-07. it's insanely reliable and it only costs a little more than the P-07. So for the money i feel its the best choice.
Thanks for testing the Sphinx. I own the P-09 (absolutely love that gun) and I guess the little sister P-07 should have similar charaterisics. I agree with you that having both, the Sphinx SDP and the P-07 is great. In my case I would (maybe in the next future) buy the Sphinx because of the "rolling" trigger and more safety due to harder trigger pull in deckoced position (my opinion). Like the comparisons, you do a great job. My problem is, I don't like cookie cutter/clone firearms, I prefer to buy the original brand the CZ. I've heard great things about the Sphinx though, it has it's place in the gun market.
Hmm, the Sphinx SDP came out years before the CZ P-07. Also, the Sphinx is closer to the CZ-75 of the two because of the Omega Trigger. And even then, the Sphinx still differs from the CZ-75. Is the Sphinx a derivative? Yes. A clone? No
I own the P07 so I'm a little biased. But I'd have to go with the P07. for the money it has a better trigger than the sphinx and cost about $500 dollars less.
I have both the CZ-P07 and the Sphinx SDP all aluminum. I would have to say the Sphinx for me. It shoots more precise in comparison to the CZ P07. I have upgraded the springs and firing pin on the Sphinx and Cajunize the P07, both are great firearms. The ergo is better on my Sphinx than the P07 in my opinion. The only reason I do not want to buy another Sphinx SDP is the limited accessories. If Kriss USA would ever provide the specs to other manufacturers that makes accessories, damn Kriss, we cant even get aluminum base pads made for the Sphinx line. Now this year or maybe next year they are going to finally sell the Sphinx 3000.....ummmm, well maybe...LOL that is my rant. CZ4LIFE!!! I pretty much went all CZs, sold my Blocks and added P01, SP01 tactical FDE , CZ 75 Urban, (2) CZ P07s, CZ Shadow 2 Urban Grey.....all Cajunized by me with the exception of the Shadow 2. Need I say more?
+TheGun Maestro That's Great Brother, I love my CZ's as well & we have a lot in common for sure. I have tons of vids on all mine if you want to check them out. TFW #CZ4LIFE
+Big Johnson Guns and Gear how are you brother. It’s been a while. This is the only way to reach you since you gave up Instagram. Do you remember the holster that you sent me for the Sphinx SDP? It was a white holster with some pattern on it. Do you remember who makes it? Thank you!
Hello Sir! All is well, I hope y’all are good? Here it is, It was off ebay. www.ebay.com/itm/BraDeC-IWB-Concealment-Holster-for-Kriss-Sphinx-SDP-Compact-/273533205161?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
I liked the Sphinx when I got to shoot one a month or so ago. But the p07 was more economical for me I like both a lot tho. Question for ya, can they share holsters?
Big Johnson Guns and Gear I've always wanted to go to Texas. My wife and I have talked about moving there a ton. Finding work in our fields at the same time. Tough. So I guess I'll just come visit and and shoot your guns instead 😂
Nice comparison. Are the mags Interchangeable? I use the large back strap on my P-09, that big palm swell on the sphinx looks like it would be really nice for larger hands
+GunsWithGage the mags are not interchangeable with the P-07, but I can use CZ75 compact & full size mags in the Sphinx! The Sphinx fits like a glove for sure! TFW Carry On
Hey don't you have a S&W 45 Shield. Man try the new Apex Trigger for it. One of the best Apex Triggers I have shot. Drops weight to about 4.5 on Lyman. The Reset is crazy good. Tactile and loud. Good video man
I own a fair amount of euro pistols including the sphinx and a cz p01 (that I love). Have to say that the sphinx is my favorite and as much as I love the cz, the difference in build quality is apparent. If I only owned the CZ I would not think the build quality could get much better but the sphinx out classes it. With that said, The CZ has much more support and options. My one and only negative about the sphinx is my particular sample has an absolutely horrible double action trigger. Pretty sure it's a defect. There's grits the entire way through is impossible to keep your site picture straight when the hammer drops. I should have sent it back by now but I'm a procrastinator and it's not my carry. Single action is just as good as a P228. I have about 1500 rounds through it without a single failure of any kind and I can hit everything with ease. I was skeptical before purchasing it but I was well please and it was worth every penny
Good deal, check out my video of the Modern Weapon System Trigger Kit & there Sights I Put On it..there awesome! The Sphinx Trigger now feels like my CZ Shadow 2 & it’s super accurate, I have a newer vid on shooting it as well. TFW Carry On
You could buy two guns for $1000, its to expensive... I do like the more metal of the sphinx for sure.. I got the p-07 with tritium night sights for 499 no tax..
My thoughts? When you have two pistols that are virtually identical and one costs twice as much as the other it's a marketing con. The sphynx is for gun snobs and the cz is for practical people
@@BigJohnsonGG hate? Grow up you asked for opinions now you don't want to hear opinions?? Strange. So you don't want to hear a logical opinion now okay moving on
James Barrick “Gun Snobs” seems like a little hate to me brother? Have you actually taken a sphinx down & looked at the build quality? & actually shot one?...or just saying that due to the price? Don’t get me wrong I actually like both of the guns very much, I just wouldn’t make statements like that until I’ve really personally checked them out. You can check out my other videos & see I really value different opinions & welcome them all. Carry on
@@BigJohnsonGG I have not handled nor shot a sphynx... Out of my price range. I have heard and read many reviews including yours and they all draw the same conclusion. CZ makes a near perfect DA/SA. Pistol and present a great value while a Sphynx seems nicer but nobody can justify the price. A pistol is a tool and like most tools you go for best value unless you want a brand or you have the mindset of buying jewelry. If you are so adamant the sphynx pricing had a justification I would love to hear it.
The CZ P07 is a mass produced polymer pistol. The Sphinx is a 3 piece design with a billet forged upper with 3 different molded replacement full grips. Hand lapped slide to receiver fit. Tuned Barrel fit for Tighter Lock Up I have a sphinx shooting video you can check out where I shoot a group from 7 yards & I can put my thumb nail over them all. It’s kind of like a Rolex watch vs a Timex they both do the job but one is of nicer quality & better craftsmanship. There’s Nothing wrong with appreciating a nice quality made firearm...You Will Also Pay more for quality look at 1911’s Like I said I honestly love them both & carry my P-07’s a lot. I own 2 P-07’s & 2 P-09’s 1 of each are now optic ready & fully custom as you can see in my newer vids. I’m a true CZ fan as you will notice. Thanks for Watching, Carry On
This one is $1000.00 but I wouldn’t compare it to my Shadow 2. Sphinx makes a 3000 version that is there Comp model & if you can find them there like $3500.00+ TFW & Carry On
Big Johnson Guns and Gear Thank you, but I was comparing the price per value. The Sphinx is $1000, I got my urban grey Shadow 2 from Kentucky Gun Company, $1057 out the door. So the price is almost exact, that's why I compared them and my opinion is the Shadow 2 blows the Sphinx away for the money. Thanks for the Videos!
You can’t compare a 400.00 gun to a 1000.00 dollar gun. CZ all the way better bang for the buck. I have 3 CZ pistols. With all that said I’m still glad you are actually comparing a top dollar gun to the lowest priced gun CZ makes and CZ is definitely a better pistol
I have to go with the CZ on this one and almost on everything. Why talk about glocks when perfection was made in 1975? Just love CZ not really a fan boy as much as CZ in more of my Mistress.
@@BigJohnsonGG looking for a new carry gun. Just applied for my ccw and took the class. I want the easiest gun to conceal with a full grip.. oh and Da/Sa
I appreciate the video but am I the only person noticing how badly he's pulling down instead of back with his trigger guage? There's no way the sphinx is over 6lbs in single action and I've never even touched one. The curved trigger of the sphinx makes pulling the trigger guage properly more important to get an accurate reading.
P07. Better MFG support while sphinx may not be a thing before long

TFW Carry On
Good review...either option looks good to me.
God, Guns & Gears Thanks Brother, I appreciate ya! Carry On!
Great vid.
Staticjm35 Thanks Brother, Carry On!
Compressive review. I wouldn't mind having either. 😉
Abaddon 12 Thanks Brother, I appreciate ya! Carry On!
Fixing to pick up a third P-07... so, P-07 ;-)
+s0nspark Good Stuff Brother, TFW & Carry On!
do you think its possible to swap decocker and slide release from sphinx to p07?
+Rich R Probably Not since the P-07 is the Omega! I’ve never tried the Sphinx Side on the P-07. TFW Carry On
You could buy two guns for $1000, its to expensive... I do like the more metal of the sphinx for sure.. I got the p-07 with tritium night sights for 499 no tax..
Good deal, TFW Carry On
If the P-07 shoots anywhere close to my P-09, it would be the P-07 all day long.
+Silent Bob Good Stuff Brother, TFW & Carry On!
Cool, brother!
Ambiguity Thanks Brother, TFW Carry On!
Is the frame on the sphinx aluminum ?
+Dan L. It's a 3 piece design. Slide Steel,
Center is milled aluminum & trigger & grip is polymer. Super nice tight fit & finish. TFW & Carry On.
One gun cost around $450 and the other cost almost a $1000. What more does the $1000 offer if nothing iam goin with the CZ p07. No question about it.
Good deal, TFW Carry On
Buy a p07 and p09 for price of sphinx all day long! CZ for the win
TFW Carry On
Sphinx SDP is the sexiest pistol ever designed.
She’s a nice one, Carry On
Love CZ but this one I roll with Sphinx.
+Will Shephard Good Stuff Sir! TFW Carry On!
Nice lookin pistols
+treesablowin Thanks Brother, Carry On!
CP P07 vs Rex Zero vs SPHINX ??
I like the P07 & Sphinx the best. TFW Carry On
Nice Big J
+Thecrazy Scotsman Thanks Brother, I appreciate ya! Carry On
Great video! Dear Santa, can I have them all?
2ndA_Dad 😜 TFW Brother, Carry On!
I wish I had both, you could buy two CZ P07 for what the Sphinx cost.
+Luke DAWG Agreed Sir! TFW & Carry On!
Luke DAWG you can get the sphinx for 729 on gun broker. Plenty of colors and night sight options for 850
My thoughts? When you have two pistols that are virtually identical and one costs twice as much as the other it's a marketing con. The sphynx is for gun snobs and the cz is for practical people
Actually Try one before you hate! Carry on
@@BigJohnsonGG hate?
Tuned Barrel fit for Tighter Lock Up
I have a sphinx shooting video you can check out where I shoot a group from 7 yards & I can put my thumb nail over them all. It’s kind of like a Rolex watch vs a Timex they both do the job but one is of nicer quality & better craftsmanship.
There’s Nothing wrong with appreciating a nice quality made firearm...You Will Also Pay more for quality look at 1911’s
Like I said I honestly love them both & carry my P-07’s a lot. I own 2 P-07’s & 2 P-09’s 1 of each are now optic ready & fully custom as you can see in my newer vids. I’m a true CZ fan as you will notice. Thanks for Watching, Carry On
What's your Edc ? BIG J
+john garnett I rotate them, PPQ, CZ P07, CZ P09, Sig P320C, M&P9C, CZ P-01 to name a few
Sorry,, , what's the cost of the Sphinx pistol? I just spent some time with a $1000 Sphinx,,, compared it to my Shadow 2. I prefer the CZs hands down.
This one is $1000.00 but I wouldn’t compare it to my Shadow 2. Sphinx makes a 3000 version that is there Comp model & if you can find them there like $3500.00+
TFW & Carry On
Big Johnson Guns and Gear Thank you, but I was comparing the price per value. The Sphinx is $1000, I got my urban grey Shadow 2 from Kentucky Gun Company, $1057 out the door. So the price is almost exact, that's why I compared them and my opinion is the Shadow 2 blows the Sphinx away for the money. Thanks for the Videos!
Sphinx sdp can be had sub 800
You can’t compare a 400.00 gun to a 1000.00 dollar gun. CZ all the way better bang for the buck. I have 3 CZ pistols. With all that said I’m still glad you are actually comparing a top dollar gun to the lowest priced gun CZ makes and CZ is definitely a better pistol
So 1st your mad & then your glad? 🤷🏻♂️
#czlife Thanks for Watching, Carry On
Lol, that’s cool, by the way I have that exact mid Atlantic holster for my CZ75 PCR
try pulling straight back on those triggers your compensating on the CZ pull
+Ryan Bingham TFW Carry On!
Agreed
It's hard to beat the p07 although I never shot the other one.
+jeff fleser P07 is nice indeed! TFW Carry On!
I have to go with the CZ on this one and almost on everything. Why talk about glocks when perfection was made in 1975? Just love CZ not really a fan boy as much as CZ in more of my Mistress.
+Jacob Cox #CZLIFE Indeed, Carry On
Good video
Thanks Brother, Carry On
@@BigJohnsonGG looking for a new carry gun. Just applied for my ccw and took the class. I want the easiest gun to conceal with a full grip.. oh and Da/Sa
InAllSeriousness88 CZ P-07 is a great cost effective DA/SA Pistol, I love both of these pistols. Congrats on getting ready to Carry On!
You can't lose with either one.
Jeff England Agreed TFW Brother, Carry On!
TFW Carry On, I have a newer vid after the trigger kit & Sights & even Shooting it.
I want a sub compact po7... maybe they could call it a po5..
Yea I have spoke about that on other chats & even named it a P05👍🏼 TFW Carry On
@@BigJohnsonGG p07 platform needs to be like glocks..sigs..m&ps... similar hard parts, magazines, and sights.
Sphinx is a much better-built gun.
Nice indeed, TFW Carry On
What's the cost of the
? What is your question? TFW Carry On
compact that weights more then czp09.... let that sink in
It’s not rocket science why?
The major difference? $450!!!! lol
+R Sjr Yes Sir, TFW Carry On
If you got a fat wallet, grab the Kriss, other than that get the CZ and you'll have a gun that's just as good if not better
Euh euh euh euh
Carry on!
