Activision were apparently concerned that the mod would interfere with sales of the upcoming COD Black Ops 6. Not only would the mod have had little to no impact on that front, it would've also helped boost COD MW Remastered sales, as the mod requires you to own a copy of the game. And they would've won community good will along the way. Execs' detachment from reality never ceases to baffle.

that's not how mods work, pirated copies absolutely can still use mods, it just takes extra steps due to how pirated copies are installed, and i doubt the mod devs had some elaborate anti-piracy meassure in place

I've said this elsewhere on this topic but I hate that companies go after modders, if fans show passion for your franchises like Another Metroid 2 Remake or Hatsune Miku Project Diva Mega Mix Plus' Eden Project then you'd think that these companies would embrace that kind of thing but alas, that isn't always the case and it really doesn't sit right with me

a) If that actually was the case, they could have made them postpone the launch of the mod instead of killing it outright

CoD fans are one of the most sad and pathetic fanbases I have seen in gaming, they either don't care or suffer from an extreme case of stockholme syndrome that they are unwilling to quit

Activision knows that COD Players will suck up everything. MW3 is a add on for MW2 sold as a new game. Did it flop? I think not. No matter what they do, next time a new COD is announced, COD Players hit the pre-order button immediately. Stop giving them money and things will get better over time. As long as 8 million people hit the pre-order button nothing will change.

The last Call of Duty game I played was 2010's Black Ops.
Apart from mates coming over for beers and split-screen World at War zombies, I have literally no interest in this franchise, and I have no idea why people keep coming back.
Activision has been carried by mainstream convenience for years. There are only two games I want from Activision and they stopped making them years ago. I have no reason to buy anything with Activision's name on it and this is a direct blow to the fan community from a financial and good will stand point. I'm done with them.
i would say DONT BUY COD MW REMASTERED TO PLAY THE LEAKED MOD. if you are stuck with a copy, go ahead, but if you can, don't buy it, and refund if you can, only way to hurt activision in a situation like this is by targeting their wallet.
Joke's on them. You can still get the mod. Been playing it with my buddy and having a blast. Its a incredible experience. 2009 feels all over again .
Activision claiming that it would impact BO6 sales.... Bros, I wasnt even going to buy BO6 regardless. I havent bought a COD title since BO3 because thats when the hacking started and nothing happened about it.
If Activision was looking to make money out of me, they had it. I bought MWR at full price because of the hype that I had, thankfully I was able to refund it.
If Activision is allowing me to use money that when they receive it allows them to spend it as they please then WHY CANT I BUY AND PLAY THE GAMES THAT I WANT TO PLAY SAFELY!? Who the fuck are they to dictate to me what I can play and having paid for a game at full price, I expect the serves associated whith that game to be fully functional.
If they are selling games that are no longer useable, why cant I pay for those games in a currency that is no longer usable to them?!

You know what, make their fears come true. The call should go beyond refunding MW to boycotting Black Ops 6 for the bs they're pulling.
Nothing is scarier to AAA companies than a good game. They want people to believe that games have always been bland, bug ridden, video game themed casinos and that anything good you remember is just nostalgia. When you play an "actually fun" game it opens your eyes and you get to see the boiling pot you're sitting in.
I will say this, having played H2M a lot over the weekend. A part of me gets why Activision wanted to cancel this project. Because this mod is soo good that when I decided to go back to play MW3, I got bored within the first 5 minutes and wanted to go back to H2M. Plus my interest for BO6 kind of died down a bit when playing this mod.
So, they saw that the mod LITERALLY spiked sales of their game, and they shut it down anyway, because “it might interfere with our money”? HUUUUUUUUUH?!
Can't wait for COD to finally die as a franchise. Been waiting for this for over a decade
