Don't understand the comparison with Gears of War, considering that the entire combat loop in Gears of War is about using cover correctly while this game is killing lots of enemies without using cover at all.
word of warning: Dont treat this as the norm. Most 40k games are borderline shovelware cause they just rent the license out to anyone cheap. Space Marine 1 and now 2 are among the only good ones. Dont be like me and waste 35$ on Deathwing.

But why do publishers not make more Games like this? Instead they release broken unfinished games that flop hard. Please make more Games like Space Marine 2, Anthem, Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 76, Elden Ring, etc.!!!
Because AAA market is a gamble nowadays. The publishers gamble on trying to release the next big live service money printer and fail doing so because they don’t get that people don’t wanna play one thousand different live service games simultaneously.
indie studios have the willpower/creativity but not the manpower, and AAA studios can have all the resources in the world but god awful management, so it really does take a miracle to get games like this

Yong, the game currently has CPU heating issues for multiple users on steam. It also has incredibly long loading times for most rigs regardless of ram, crashes when you Alt+F4 and barely holds a steady above 60 FPS for the 3080 series whenever the game gets busy. I know you play on a premium gaming rig, but the majority of players will experience issues with this launch as of now. It needs patching quick.
There's about as many 40k licensed video games as that name implies so its nice that we finally have enough good ones to need both hands to count them all.
A game that offers - A single player campaign - Cooperative multiplayer - Player vs Player multiplayer - In-game cosmetic unlocks - No microtransactions - No in game store - No live service stupidity ALL ON RELEASE. Space Marine 2 has reset the bar back to where it should be. Edit: Apparently it DOES have a season pass, I was unaware of this as I don't trust pre-ordering games anymore.
Just be aware though that there is some performance issue on PC. The game is great but it might try to cook your CPU. Monitor temperature and/or wait for a optimization patch
It's a miracle that this game is as good as it is considering it went through an acquisition right in the middle of development from the hot mess of Embracer group to Beacon Interactive.
I am so happy that focus entertainment funds these projects, been watching updates for this game for about 2 years now, can't wait to get my pre order.

There is a reason older games feel so much more pick up and play fun, because they gave you what the game is best as the focus and left out any of the annoying grindy bs. I hope we see more games in the future with this mindset.
@@ronuss Campaign is a 6-8 hour introduction to extremely grindy live service with very minimal rewards and forcing you to play with others or lose progress.
Full live service road map and paid cosmetics bundles all that I wish I was told about.
@@VioletDeathRei any grind progress is just cosmetics. thats it. this game is not a live service, i think you need to understand better what that is. any new content is just gonna be coop missions and mp maps. if you think thats a live service then any game ever that added content after release is to you...
@@ronuss It's specifically stated as live service with a road map and season It's on like all five of the devs posts on the store so everyone knows.
That's like saying Overwatch isn't a live service since it's just cosmetic...
I kinda get the vibe that Campaign is just like a lengthy introduction to PVE and PVP modes which they gonna improve upon later by introducing new missions, classes, weapons and enemies.
Most campaigns slowly introduce features throughout. But the campaign has set pieces that won’t be anywhere else.
That’s generally the purpose of campaigns in shooter games lol you don’t play shooters to play by yourself.
Every game before 2013 was like this.
@@GTTMRC95 yeah i miss that so much
Would be nice to have single player expansions.
As someone with zero experience with the franchise/ip, it looks like they made what modern Gears of War should be.
Hilariously, the same was said for Space Marine 1
Because gears of war is basicly a warhammer but with tyrranids only as your main enemy.
@@robertnomok9750Locusts = orcs, their pets = tyranids
Don't understand the comparison with Gears of War, considering that the entire combat loop in Gears of War is about using cover correctly while this game is killing lots of enemies without using cover at all.
word of warning: Dont treat this as the norm. Most 40k games are borderline shovelware cause they just rent the license out to anyone cheap. Space Marine 1 and now 2 are among the only good ones. Dont be like me and waste 35$ on Deathwing.
Got early access and damn it’s everything you can ask for a Warhammer: 40,000 Game. 9/10

I'm just waiting for the game to Drop. If all the good Press about it, is true on release, it will be instant GOTY for me.
Don't get me wrong, Wukong is a Cool game, but Space Marine 2 just satisfies the masses, making it more deserving.
It... it's not unfortunately, nails the look(arguably less the feel you are made of paper and so are most weapons and classes other then anything with "heavy" in the name.)
Campaign is 6-8 hour introduction to PvE which you either have to play offline with no progress for bots or online with no bots, full on live service, lots of paid cosmetics, season pass is just $30 of cosmetics, no ultra-wide support, no keyboard remapping, in fact lots of basic quality if life missing, I can probably go on.
Anyway massive grain of salt on this one right now.
@@draw2death421 Space Marine has more to offer than wukong, Singleplayer, Co-op, PvP, PvE, and more content is on the way too.
Wukong is just gonna get another DLC in a few months, maybe.
@@draw2death421 well, when your game is literally made to be sold in China, and the population is 4-5x the size of the USA, stuff like that tends to happen.

Epic win 😃 FOR THE EMPEROR!
This game reminded me of the same feeling I got when I first played Gears of War 1 for the first time. Just a bunch of men with big guns destroying monsters and not throwing out an unfunny quip every 30 seconds, just serious carnage and I loved every second of it.

I love how YongYea just straight into the visual in the first minute of his review.
SMII probably has the best representation of how the huge grand scale war in W40K universe, especially against nids, there's a sea of xenos above and below all around you. And the untold billion of death and story for adeptus and those cadians is mindboggling me. 100% MVP for the art director.
Sabre interactive fucking COOKED!, this game is an actual love letter from a studio that RESPECTS the community and its source material, Focus needs to fund these guys for life.
I must say Yong, your gameplay is the most competent I've seen for this game so far. Me and the boys played the shit out of SM1, and it looks like you would've fit in to one of our Exterminatus matches.
I don't think they'll ever get facial animations right lol. Looks amazing though. WH 40K seems like something that would be right down my alley. I might try this out

Man, I would definitely love to see an Imperial Guard focused game of this caliber
Not my cup of tea but I know my friend had been waiting for this. Glad it’s good! Hope he enjoys it a lot.
They do. You are looking at it.
@@WllKiedSnakehe asked more games like this

Yong, the game currently has CPU heating issues for multiple users on steam. It also has incredibly long loading times for most rigs regardless of ram, crashes when you Alt+F4 and barely holds a steady above 60 FPS for the 3080 series whenever the game gets busy.
I know you play on a premium gaming rig, but the majority of players will experience issues with this launch as of now. It needs patching quick.
This takes me back to golden era of gaming.
Finally, first Wukong, now this. Maybe we are finally returning to games actually being made with passion and heart behind it

Concord walk (to their death) so Space Marine 2 can run.
Looks really fun. I'd expect the overall review score on steam to rise a bit, once bugs are ironed out.

I'm not clicking with the combat mechanics. It's outdated mechanics seen in other games. Other than that, it's good.

- Player vs Player multiplayer
- In-game cosmetic unlocks
