    Does anyone know the name of the bracket he used to hold the column up under the dash?!! Need to order one for my 1970 c/10 but idk the name of the braket!!

    Hi Sir, Nice Job!
    If you do an extra hole in the middle of the "under dash plate"
    Against the Steering column.
    It is probably easier to Reach n adjust the locking screw.
    Just saying.
    Keep up the good work.

    That is a real good looking truck. Looking real choice. I’m looking in to 79 Scottsdale. 350. 3 speed. But I’m a big guy. Was looking to see if I could shorten the steering column or what I could do. And came across this video. Glad I did. And I think this would help me a little. Might look in to it.

    Hey Sir,
    are you able to use the stock steering wheel with that “new column?” I love that stainless steering wheel column, need it for my “63” as well, but I wish to retain my stock wheel, does this new column support use of “stock steering wheel, Sir?” Thanks for all these videos, it really does put me in an educated direction. You Rock the old steel!

    You gotta stay steel for your truck. I thought about going with the stainless deal for my 72 Chevy pick up but I did go with black powder coat Instead. After putting the column in it looks so much better in the black. If you decide to change colors on your steering steel go with a block in powder coat. It is way better than paint and it will look great.It is a lot easier to match up steering wheels with what they have available for sale. The Grant 8540 is a good steering wheel to try for your Chevy. Just a thought my friend.

  • @vm722
    @vm722 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Crazy huh it didn't come with a collapsible shaft. I would think for safety purposes it is better. But not sure. I used a mid 80s jeep shaft. It fits perfectly on the power steering box and has two u joints and a collapsible shaft. I was impressed by how easy it went on.
    Just some grinding on the original column Safety bolt through the side of hole that is there for the knuckle. I also epoxy the thing to make sure that it stays on.
    Not at all trying to say anything bad about Gibson63.
    This man is a artist. Amazing truck and the best owner that truck can have. 👍

    Tie the color of the column in with some accents on the dash and door panels (It kinda looks similar to the silver stripe) so use the brushed aluminum to your advantage and create a theme. Looks great ! I think your gonna bring the wheel towards you a little by the looks of it! Great update!

    I'm a fan of your work here. If not going with the original steering wheel, what were you considering? Personally I think modern steering wheels on older trucks do not look "right". Subtle modifications such as the column or seat or radio updated will not detract from the vehicle, but putting a steering wheel from a different era may. Either way it's your truck and do as you please, our opinions shouldn't sway you. Keep up the good work! Love seeing the progress you are making.
