Enclosure, Health Welfare and First Aid Check of the E.Telfairi

The E. telfairi (Echinops telfairi) is a small, nocturnal mammal (Eisenberg, 1975) resembling a hedgehog with a face that is appealing to the eye, giving it the potential to become a very popular small pet or captive animal. The E. telfairi is an exotic animal with a unique list of requirements which are explored in this portfolio along with recommendations made in line with the Animal Welfare Act (2006) Section 9. A person commits an offence if he does not take such steps as are reasonable in all the circumstances to ensure that the needs of an animal (Any animal that is under the control of man or not living in a wild state) for which he is responsible are met to the extent required by good practice.
