Ark Survival Evolved has been a survival game favorite since it released in 2015, combining dinosaurs into a survival setting. Ark Survival Ascended has had a rocky launch, and is possibly not selling the way Studio Wildcard and Snail Games had hoped it would. It was also previously revealed, that Ark Survival Ascended was needed in order to fund the development and distribution of Ark II. With this recent statement, it seems that Studio Wildcard is moving on from Ark II, and instead, focusing all their efforts into Ark Survival Ascended. I really wish a AAA publisher would just buy Snail out already.
Have you seen the news about snail spending 1.3 billion dollars trying to develope a car and that's why they're so broke. They killed ark for a car that never was.

@@ODST626I saw that. The head of Snail is just another flailing businessman trying to find a project that makes enough to make him a large payday.
That's why I want them out of dealing with Ark. Ark is a game that we love the premise of, and the devs obviously love it, even if they do think "optimization" is a dirty word, you can tell they love the game they've created. I want a real company to step in, buy the rights, and treat Ark/WC with the respect they've earned rather than treating it like a short term piggy bank.
From what I've read Hiatus. They want to wait and see where ark ascended goes, a lot.of their funders got ansey with the botched release and negative reviews.
I really wish another publisher would take over this project. Love wildcard for making the game, hate snail and how they've managed it.
Snail has owned wildcard since 2015 and Ark is over 90% of the company's total revenue year after year. Last 20 years there's been few to none when it comes to fire sales of studios/IPs where it actually worked out better for the player base. Almost every single situation has had things become worse. However, you'd more likely see Snail run everything into the ground, hold onto the IP and just shutter.

â@@Toxyethanol Everything shuttered and IP put in limbo indefinitely. Wildcard shuttered by Snail but the IP sold to someone completely different or both sold separately. Another dodgy company buys only the IP but puts everything in maintenance mode until Ark is no longer viable and then shutters everything. Dodgy company buys it, monetizes ALL unofficial server use(via a license similar but worse to what Nitrado wanted to do) and turns virually everything into micro transactions as they possibly can all the wild being an even buggier mess than the horrid situation it is now. Plenty more bad scenarios I can think of. :P
Snail would still control it though. They can hand it over to to a new studio but it's still controlled by Snail.
That would be worse however because if it's not made by Wildcard, it's definitely not gonna feel like ARK. Ark 2 as is, already sounds too different from Ark 1 which is terrible and setting up a new team of people to make a sequel is gonna end up going so very badly like what happened to Halo.

back when they first started teasing what would become ASA, I made the prediction in an Ark youtuber's discord: "Ark 2 won't be out until 2025 at the absolute earliest, probably later, maybe never. SG and WC are broke, and ASA will have micro-transactions. Not referring to DLC map type stuff, actual micro$$, maybe even pay-to-win style." Everyone just started calling me a hater, blah blah blah, and eventually I got kicked from the server.
If I were a petty man I'd make a new account to go in there and tapdance on those simp's faces. But I'm not, so I'm just gonna sit here being smug
Maybe it's just me, but this whole situation seems like it's perfect for a bigger publisher to come in and buy Wildcard. Snail is a sinking ship and needs cash quickly. ASA's sales numbers show there's plenty of interest in the game. And that interest would probably grow if people had any amount of faith in the direction and leadership of the franchise. So it would be a good purchase for the publisher and a win for fans. Make them an offer, literally anyone!!

I think thatâs the only way Wildcard make it out of this situation alive.
If Microsoft does this it will be another smart move. Because it would allow them to hire staff that have experience optimizing games and improve the performance, ram pooling, and overall game.
Plus I strongly believe it would make wildcard feel so much more comfortable to then release more content to ASA.

There are other issues at play. Things like Snail knows how much ASE earned, and how long it's lifespan was, along with playerbase. All those metrics drive the price of the studio up based on "potential earnings"...
And then any potential buyer has to look at how the studio and IP is performing NOW, and it's a train wreck. So the seller is likely demanding all debts be paid ALONG with a big chunk of potential earnings...while any buyer is looking at a failing studio and dying consumer faith.
Also, when you buy a studio-you buy ALL the IP's. All the mobile stuff, other platforms, and liabilities. I'm a long way off from being an insider, but I would be willing to wager its an upside down deal for any potential buyer.
With ASA already launched, any potential buyer would also need to fund a whole new dev process to start making profit off the purchase. That's a big ask when you have corporate investors to appease.
In the last 2 decades of fire sales of studios and or their IP's the vast majority of them resulted in worse conditions for players. Ark accounts for over 90% of Snail's revenue and Wildcard is owned by them. They'll more likely continue mismanagement and run it into the ground at this rate while they micro transaction to death the players. It's looking more and more like Ark's best years are behind them.
I'm not interested in a souls like ark regardless.

Smartest decision they could have made, imo. When they first said "Ark II", I was really looking forward to a new map using new code, potentially new alien life and bosses, but the same basic premise - a sandbox dino survival game. It's the sandbox and dino parts that have kept me coming back to Ark for 5000 hours. So when they said "third-person only," I said Yuck. When they said, "Souls-like combat," I said Ugh, no.
This plan is fantastic; if they can do this without going bankrupt, I say Bring it!

These industries have to stop giving us release dates if they're unsure. As a relationship between a company and a consumer, it is just good business practice to meet the deadline as advertised. I get having short setback but to take this long let alone continuously advertise with no progress is just upsetting.
There was a time when game studios had release dates that they religiously adhered to. As a result, customers got tired of paying for shit that didn't work, didn't play as advertised, or was so bare bones it wasn't fun. When you let accountants run your company, you forget the customer is the person who pays you and as a result, you lose the customers. Now companies have finally realized that releasing trash and expecting the consumer to suck it up and pay for a shitty on time release is a great way for studios to go bankrupt.

Must of not been a day one player ark literally announced a release day but would be several months overdue plus all the other bs so thats why a lot of people dont care for the game no more they say one thing but do another
I wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't make ARK 2. Their financial situation isn't good especially since they may still owe a fair amount of money. I have my doubts they'll even come close to breaking even on ASA since any profit they obtain has to be split percentage wise. Some of it going to Microsoft, then some to Sony, some more to Valve, then to Nitrado to pay off a majority of their loans if they can, and possibly Overwolf.
Ark 2 was also said to have a completely different gameplay to what ASE or ASA has which to me put off alot of fans. Instead of an FPS Survival/Adventure game it was described as a Third-Person only souls-like from what had been said.
Part of the reason they tried to strong-arm players to buy Ark 2 (including Ark Ascended) is because they needed the money for Ark 2. So I also wouldn't be surprised if this were the case. Snail Games has a nasty habit of offloading costs to their customer base ahead of a project (even after making project commitments).
If they play their cards right with dlc and skins they can make money. I just hope no damn battle pass nor pricing the dlc outrageous like conan did

I've said it once and I'll say it AGAIN asa is your ark II. No way can they make two games, releasing asa BUT with no gameplay footage or beta testing. Kept quiet until purchases. This is your last ark game until someone buys the game
It is very curious to see the wording they used for ARK 2 but I dont think it is cancelled outright, maybe the initial idea just got put into a proverbial cryofridge that hopefully that doesnt run out of power. Joke aside, I think once the major ASA development gets done after 2030 maybe see some rumblings of ARK 2, but I think it could look way different by that time, that just my gut feeling or it could be that it got reworked as some kind of expansion pack to fit in as a part of ASA?

A thought occurred, can you compare the sales of vanilla ark at "early access" launch versus the ASA at its initial launch. I'm curious to see the side by side comparison between the two reports and the revenue stream generated. If this launch is better than vanilla, it would be weird for a company to be taking out a loan when their new rendition is even more popular than the original. If possible, I'd also like to see a refund report and compare the losses to the gross sales to get an idea of what the real financial situation is.
This is just my own desires and how I'd compare the data. You don't need to follow it directly, or at all. I'm just requesting information i can look up myself as potential content for you.
I can't speak for game developers specifically, business in general it's not weird to accrue debt even while financially successful. Walmart, Amazon, Target, Microsoft, Apple, all of them have loans. If the return on invested capital outpaces the cost of the principal + interest on the loan it's a good business decision. In this case I'd assume they calculated how many more folks they can hire, velocity that may add, and profit from releasing sooner. Just speculation on my part though :)
Thanks for all the info you've been providing. I thought about buying ASA (I have more than 6k hours of play time in ASE), but after hearing a lot of info about publisher's financial situation, I decided not to bother. It was clear from the start that they'll try to monetize expansions in one way or another so I waited to see what it was. It's nice to hear that I was right.

@@devonpelley3832 everything. 1st they promised that ASA would be free.. it wasn't. Then they claimed that ASA is a way to raise funding for ARK 2.. Which is more than unlikely to be made at this point. They also claimed that ALL dlc maps would be free.. Guess what - They are adding cosmetics and DINOS behind a paywall. While I couldn't care less about them adding prices on cosmetics items, what I have and issue with is that they're making us pay for dinos, which at it's core is just another way to try to force players to pay for maps.
So to answer your question - their financial situation has everything to do with my decision to buy the game. Because their crappy financial situation clearly indicates that they will continue to go back on their word and there's a likelihood that they might even go back on their word about DLC being free in the future.
I'd have no issues if devs were honest from the start, but instead we get nothing but false promises and them going back on their word.
Besides - after paying decent money for all of the ASE and all of the maps and DLCs I'm not going to spend a single cent to buy re-skinned version of the game I already own.

I don't think the dev will be around to complete ASA's release schedule. The writing is on the wall. Wildcard has always had problems delivering. We were supposed to have the entire ASA game (which is just a remaster of existing content) by end of this year. Now we have to wait two years to get what we already paid for. And the content we have currently still has MANY of the very same bugs that plagued the original. They now have committed themselves to two years of development after taking the money up front. That is just not sustainable. I hope they at least get through Extinction before they shutter.

Er; not really. In the growth-centric model used by most American companies (which although risky, has a proven track record of success), taking out large loans is not a bad thing - so long as you can afford the interest payments, and the extra capital will help expand the business. Paying off ones debts might make sense in personal finance, but in a growth-oriented business model, that's basically never a goal. Google, for instance, is currently 23 billion dollars in debt. But they're also enormously profitable. They just don't plan on using those profits to clear their debt. They'd rather invest it into things like more infrastructure, or R&D.
Honestly, Not a huge surprise. How many projects has Wildcard revealed and cancelled throughout Ark's history? Countless. They weren't even confident we'd like Ark 2, That's why they tried so hard to bundle it with Ascended.
Iâm honestly not mad about anything going on currently with ark, speculation or not. Iâm okay with the delays and Everything. With ASA im grateful that I get to relive the ark experience that I got to as a kid. The happiness I get from playing it brings back so many memories and this by far overshadows all the hate I see towards the game and the studio. I think that the main thing is that they shifted gears when they released Ark Ascended, and are focusing on it more than Ark 2. I really doubt that they have the manpower to work on both(given how massive of a game Ark is), so they are probably leaving Ark 2 for later, and will resume development till Ark Ascended is in a more "sustainable" state, which my main guess, till Ark Ascended has more content. Also, hearing stuff like Ark 2 will be more of a "Souls-like" game, means that they have had to work on this game from the ground up and couldn't use the same framework as Ark(sorta like how they re-used Ark resources to create some of their other games like Atlas). This means that the development of the game will be massive. I for one do want to see Ark be successful. While I hate Snail Games, I love what Wildcard has created.
Iâm honestly perfectly fine with them just working on ascended. Iâm loving it just as much as the original so far and I feel now is the time they can finally make a game that lives up to what ark should have been.

@@queenkoiyeah mine crashes so much especially when I play with a friend on a non dedicated sessionâĶ And if Iâm on single player and it crashes it doesnât save and sets me back an hour of work at least so I probably wonât be coming back to it until there is an update
@@easypeezy03 i had the same problem a little while ago, but as of the last couple weeks it hasn't been doing it. Although, sometimes it does overheat my computer but my computer case has a little hinge door thing on the side and as long as I open that i'm fine and have no issues at all.

As long as things like dynamite are just a skin for grenades or C4 then I have no problem with it. I always enjoy going to the obelisk and finding all the skins I don't have from people transferring and leaving them there.

there's also a dinosaur (fasolosuchus) and other non-cosmetics (trains, for example) that are bundled with the paid dlc. It's not a skin for grenades.

Scorched Earth comes with ASA, all the maps in the original game come with Ascended and cost nothing extra once they come out. The railroad and that dino are free with the game. However Ark has always been slightly pay to win. The new planned dlc maps (not in the original) will have dinos and engrams that aren't available elsewhere, it doesn't keep you from getting those dinos and items by trading with other players but it is a crappy business tactic. As far as dynamite goes, I can't see them making it any stronger than grenades or C4 even if it isn't a skin. It will likely do the same damage as one of those two.
Fasolosuchus is not part of the paid DLC. It is coming with Scorched Earth, like Rhynio came with the Island.
I dont think its been canned. I just think they are broke as hell and need the whole team working on ASA and its exp to get them pumped out now to get some money coming in. because they can get that done sooner than ark 2. Unless something changes I wouldn't be surprised if they get all the remastered exp out before folding.
Theres no additional monetary incentive to pump out all the exp even with these corny add-on packs. The base price of the game includes all the exps and if over a mil bought it already, I doubt there'd be a second larger surge buying it at a future date. Valheim only happens once in a blue moon. The only way they'd make money is if they go back on their word once again and fuck everyone over by charging them for the exps (too late for that after these announcements) OR monetize the game in some other forcible anti-consumer way.

@@Ragsxv It was and is great. So much so that it grew more popular after its release, which doesn't happen often, hence my point. Most games sell the majority of their units inside of the release window and Ark is certainly one of those.
Tbh I wasnât planning on playing Ark 2 considering the changes they were planning. The dinos looked amazing but I wasnât exactly keen on some of the changes they want to implement. A better combat system is welcome but in a way that is Souls-like? Ehhhh. The nail in coffin for me will be if we have to play as Santiago or if we can play as our own character.

More than likely they get bought out by another publisher but could also be they go under as well. Wildcard doesn't have the best reputation for being a good development team.

Snail doesn't have anything other than the Ark IP that's worth anything. Nobody would buy Snail altogether.
It's my hope that Snail does go bankrupt and sells off the Ark IP, which is valuable, to remain as a company that is able to continue and move into the lucrative mobile BS games market.

I'm sad for a game I love. I just hope they can stay a float long enough to get all the maps out for ASA. Yeah, I'm already preparing for that to happen. There is going to be a cash grab, even more so then what we have already seen, snail is going to try and save themselves but at this point I think the hole they dug is to big and even a monster game like ARK isn't going to be able to save them.

Tbh a single-player open world RPG as an ARK2 was a horrible idea and with Snail Games in so much debt it was a bone-headed move to throw money at Vin just to get a celebrity name on the box. It smells of clueless executives who don't understand why ARK was so popular and are trying to just slap the brandname on everything from unwanted films to half-cooked games.

I use to play Ark all the time. Day in and day out. So many promises that were broken. Constant money grabs. I can't believe everyone gave them their money for Ascended. I for one am not. They want to do a Ark 2 then ya maybe, I will get that. But I am not paying them for a game I already paid for. So much corruption. But everyone falls for it, so sad.
I hope it works out. Getting long term Ascended content will be amazing. I'm not bothered by timelines, they constantly change and as long as we keep getting Ascended content its all good.
There is no rush for ARK2 and if financially its more viable to cancel it then so be it.
And if they can hand over development to a third party at least it will be looked after then.
Overall it seems positive and I hope they get the funds they need to keep Ark Ascended going for a long time.

I got banned on their official discord for questioning ASA before it released, Dollie made ignorant comments like "Oh yeah cuz game devs dont need money" when i said it was a cashgrab, i have nothing against paying for something to support the devs just like i do for example New World, but then i want to see that the devs actually working on the game, i questioned why we did not see any gameplay at all before same day as release, it just felt like a sketchy scam, cashgrab, and i was totally right, now they are taking money for the DLCs aswell, and we legit playing the same exact game with some extra added mods and better graphics.

I absolutely did not understand the logic of them working on ASA and Ark 2 at the exact same time. That's because they haven't been and ark 2 is a smokescreen! That makes sense
Ark 2 is a illusion, they just do this to make you think they actually doing shit, when UE5 got out they seen potential in ASE to be converted to ASA, and they see the cash they could grab from it.
Can't wait for studio wild card to be bought out by a more competent company. They just don't have the talent in their staff to keep with this type of game, it was made blatantly clear even in the early days of ASE. They released an early access game with a completed game price tag, and since the playerbase accepted it for what it was - pricetag, bugs, cheats, meshing, server issues, 255ping and the list goes on and on, the dev team didn't care. As long as the playerbase keeps accepting the game for what it is, then what is rush for the dev team to fix the issues? Its going to be the same recipe as ASE; Release $60, fix some issues of the game to keep the populous happy, release a map $40 so people can temporarily forget about all the current issues, fix some of the content on that map, release another map $40, and so on for all 11 maps. The only difference from ASE this time around, is that ASA is going to squeeze the playerbase like lemons for in game monetization.
All in all, nothing new for this game, and unfortunately I was also a lemon and got squeezed into buying this garbage.

Remastered games were not invented by WildCard; they have always existed, and many companies create them to breathe new life into an aging video game, which especially applies to ASE. Beyond that, in addition to the new graphics, they also changed various mechanics and completely reworked the map. Moreover, ALL the DLCs (which will also be reworked and have new content added by the way) will be free.
You can complain about the crashes or lack of optimization, but you can't say they are greedy, especially when there are companies (like Bungie or EA) that are a thousand times more greedy.
As for the adventure packs, they stated that they would charge $5 each and will be completely optional. Who would have imagined that they would need a source of income to maintain a stable flow of free content for two years?

PS5 player here: so the graphics are rough. I love the updates, I love the quality of life improvements, the baby dinos, the changes to the island. That said: I have this phasing where I can see where the wings of my flyer have been. It needs some tuning.

In regards to Ark 2 I belive that they will keep it, but not as Ark 2. When we see ASA as the future of ARK or as a platform that means that they will keep making DLC and mods to it, so my guess is that ARK 2 will be comming to ASA but as a DLC with a gameplay mod attached to it. Vin-Diesel might be arriving in ARK as part of those side story DLC sold for each map.

On the live they told that they are working on skin for buildings, so every concept of building in ARK2 is in theory the same as ASA. The combat mode might come as a MOD like they did on Primitive+. I don't know but considering ASA as a platform it leaves too much room to grow. So far we haven't seen a premium mod yet... No idea what they do, but I suspect they should be big or game changing.
Ive been really enjoying ASA as long as they put good work into this one ill be ok with ark 2 being delayed again or even scrapped. ASE was my favorite game despite all the obvious issues it had so if this is done right i can see this being a game i play for another 1000+ hours
Personally i think that they should add some sort of single player campaign to asa. You have the current sandbox pve/pvp play style but for some sandbox isnt their style. They could bring in other consumers with a single/mulitplayer campaign that pulls more of the story of ark into it. Imagine what ark could be with npc tribes etc using the dinos like the dossiers explain how they were used.

Maybe they learned with the release of Asa that they lose players with false promises and release dates. They showed with Abberation and Genesis that they have innovative ideas. If they really want to make some kind of an ark2 thing, then Asa is everything they need. Ark in itself is a great idea that has room for almost endless content. If they really want to do something big they could do that, who knows what the future will bring.
Honestly i think the shitty practices of the parent company Snail games that were exposed like crazy heavily contributed to a lot of the trouble with ark 2 and ASA. Not to say Wildcard is without fault, but reputation can make or break projects like this.

Depends how expensive Adventure pack is gonna be, but it seems it will have a lot ot stuff and some major new mechanics like "rails and trains". Which is imo very interesting. Wagon, structure/outfit cosmetics, new engrams like dynamite. It sounds very interesting and "meaty". And new dino ( probably bison huh to pull that wagon )

all they fixed up was the multiple naming conventions on things like assets. there were a lot of bugs straight up copy pasted from old ark aaka the toilet bug they fixed early on, that had been in game since origional beta, and a few more i wont mention still in the game that people are using to expoloit as they were og beta players.@@Kazaanh

Feels like they are making it like Rust with the skins to help offset revenue losses which also explains the delayed releases of content which gives Snail Games more time to rake in money. I suspect the TNT is just a skin for the C4 with no impact to damage or functionality.
To answer your question as to why snail hasnât paid off its debts. Most companies never pay off their debts; they continue to roll them over. They keep paying the interest because they would rather never pay the basis and instead invest that money.
They dont even have the devs to proper build ASA, let alone have another team to work on Ark2 :D We stumble into bug after bug, server issue after server issue, only today the render range of dino's has been reduced to .. maybe 50 meters at best, aside the lovely lag and rubberbanding :D

ARK News is pretty much always going to be something bad.
Sad stuff. Wildcard and snail have a sorted history but truth be told I've put alot of time into ark 1 and I've put a fair bit into ascended. Hopefully if they do can it we will at least get to see some of the work that was done put into ark ascended.
An easy way for them to make money would be to include new paid maps released between what they have already promised by pushing back dates they could be giving themselves breathing room, also releasing a new map like scorched earth 1 per year at the minimum would probably pay for the development if those downloaded numbers are correct, then they would just merge the low-end nitrado servers and rinse and repeat.

Ill br honest, looking at the roadmap, and giving each date a month or rwo extra if we are fortunate, we will seen all the maps caught up sometime in 2026. This is kust thinking of classic delays aswell, when you factor in bugs, new maps, and new dinos we hsve no clear idea how long thisll take.
If anything they could give us a far cry type thing in ue5 but keep it as close to the ark thing as much as they can. Taming building but give us npc and a story and certain missions for certain tames I mean they could make such a magical game if they really wanted.
The way I see it:
1) They shouldn't have said the game updating to UE5 was free to current game holders.
2) REMAKE the ENTIRE game from the ground up, fixing any code leaks and the need to have a 800 GIGABITE game that can crash or brick a pc BUILT TO PLAY GAMES IN 4K...
3) Sell the new version at $70-$80 but revamp it to continue the story as a "B-plot". Eg - What conditions the Island map expireanced after landing back on Earth.
4) ReIntroduce old creatures with updated abilities to the new enviroments AND add new creatures.
Dayam... that last bit, where the co-founder is selling a "game" was like that last straw that broke the camels back to me, the smoking gun so to say... It really has a "good" ring to it, the way that you put it. The issue here is not studio wildcard, its Snail games, they are the ones calling ALL the shots, which made a contract stating "you are not allowed to say we are calling the shots" which meant studio wildcard has to take the brunt of problems, also that means there is no development control as well as introducing ideas that are certainly hail marries, such as the oasisaurus which is heavily rumored to be paid to win.
Ark Survival ascended was not a case of "needing a new engine to do stuff", its a massive cashgrab, sure there are some nice quality of life such as the map being streamlined and the irrigation system being stream lined because fuck pipes, baby dinos which add additional taming methods (not enough), but the biggest problem is what snailgames left behind in Survival Evolved, specifically maps left unpolished, rampant cheating and abandoned conversion modes.

Now this comment is getting long but this may lead to massive speculation, if Snail games is in debt, borrowing large sums of money, lets be real, the studio does have a lot of good press, but chances are, snail games has no plan and instead merely talk about having plans then before it all collapse, snail games will take the money and run, snail games has a bit of a history for milking games then killing them off.

What a dumpster fire. I've always been under the assumption Snail Games has clipped the wings of Wildcard, and I maintain that position. I don't believe Wildcard would put "pay-to-win" features in the game without being forced to be Snail. I expect significant community backlash. Snail is inept and needs to sell Wildcard and the Ark franchise to a publisher who actually knows what they're doing.
Most games when updated for new generation give their customers a patch to bring it upto date on pc anyway, i know sony want everyone to pay for even the most minor of graphical updates by releasing a ps5 version of a game but wildcard have done the exact same thing with ark sa, cant say I'm surprised by the news they gave up on survival evolved rather than fixing it and decided to charge for the fixes by bringing out another game

I'm a brand new player who hasn't played a single minute of Ark survival evolved. This game is the bomb!
I am not paying for the same game I have already. I will just play Ark Evovled and not the new graphic updated one.
Also, it is still in early access. I will most likely wait for it to get out of that feature and for the price to go down.
I can't say I'd be surprised. Nor am I really disappointed. I think they should pump everything into ASA. The upscale in the graphics and newer engine means they can do so much more now. It's ready for new expansions.
I think the timing of the release along with the limited consoles you can get the game on really ate into what they thought they would make off of this, they need to do better research on what consoles their target audience is using, and maybe not come out when other big named games are coming out.
I was really looking forward to Ark II. It looked awesome, and it had Vin Diesel in it. I hope that, one day, it will come out in the way it's supposed to be, a fun, survival sandbox dino game. I also hope that this doesn't affect the Ark animated series.

As someone who has been playing ark since release what i wanted from ark 2 is updated graphics no bugs npc humanoids in the style of Conan Exiles fix the bugs, interconnected maps or 1 huge map with all the biomes im talking elderscrolls morrowwind huge or bigger, vr support, npc villages that you can trade with/pillage, more sofisticated fp combat involving timing blocking dodging, advanced weather system like scorched but for all maps, better stealth gameplay, naturalistic creature A.I. i.e. creatures form packs families go towards water sources and activly gather food for themselves, take naps, only hunt when hungry or threatened, form territories, idle animations like scratching interacting with other creatures not nessicarily just fighting
I have a question I bought the base game and all the DLC as it game out years ago is WILDCARD basicly making it where i have to buy the base game and all the DLC again in order to play a game i've already played bought and experienced? and if that is the case it there some option of getting my money back?
I still can't get passed the fact that they stopped supporting a game that ran perfect on my very decent gaming PC and couldn't even build Survival Ascended to run on the same systems Survival Evolve can, effectively gatekeeping players like me from accessing the new content. I literally cannot afford to upgrade my PC or buy a new one that can handle the extremely poorly-optimized Survival Ascended. It's abysmal what they've done to the community.
IF they ever make ark 2 it'll be around 2027 if ever. They're concentrating now on ASA with paid DLCs and increasing microtransactions which will come through the "mod shop", just wait see. All in early access so they can do whatever they like with no customer recourse...they can stuff it. I'm sticking with ASE.
I wish they'd fix primitive plus. If anyone knows a fux for it on series x every single time i spawn in there is not a single living thing other than me on the map. I really want to play it and try out the new tools and structures but there isn't anything to hunt, fish or tame anywhere. This is on the island if that helps.

Ark related news should be "Snail games loses ownership of Ark licence", "Ark 2 will not be Souls Like", "Ark 2 will have first person view option" or even "Ark 2 will not exist, instead Ark 1 will be allways optimized, and maps/new things will be added frequently". Now that would be some Ark news I'd love to see...if Ark 2 is going to be what it is being announced, I will not play for sure. I dont know what they are thinking! So, some of the basics that made Ark, despite being so glitchy and with so many issues, have a large community of players that love the game, are to be put aside...hummmm thats a questionable strategy...
I don't think ARK II has been canned at all, I think Snail are getting Wildcard to drip feed ASA content on purpose, WC mentioned the additional story content and extra's expansion in the initial EA release info and the Nitrado loan was on provision it was all to be used on developing ARK II.
So.. purposefully stretch the releases out and add in the paid adventure packs to keep all things ARK and some money coming in to keep funding and interest in the IP while ARK II is completed.
If people stay interested and the packs sell i'm pretty confident ARK II will release.. in what state and whether the ARK community approves of the 'souls like' game is another matter.
They really did a number on their own community by expecting people who baught the original game and all of its DLCs to ONCE AGAIN pay for the remaster, especialy after making a promise that it would be free for those who purchased it, they should have kept their promise and wait for ASA to generate the revenue required for ARK 2 or at the very least ask for public crowd fund with a realistic and encouraging roadmap, one where they would ACTUALLY respect
I've been saying for a while that ARK 2 likely never actually existed. We've never seen a screenshot only full motion video trailers. Similar to the ARK TV series, which is likely also in production hell and may never get released as well.
