- Weapon Balancing & Patrol Spawns being looked into! This could be great!
Here's the latest in Helldivers 2 News!
We are not looking too good with the current Major Order, and I wanted to take a look at an F-Tier stratagem that needs serious help! Weapon Balancing has been a HOT topic, and Johan seems to have it under review. SONY adds more fuel to an already terrible situation, and Twinbeard has just posted letting players know that the broken patrol spawns are under review.
Thanks so much for you awesome support for my Helldivers content!

HELLDIVERSâĒ 2 is a 3rd person squad-based shooter that sees the elite forces of the Helldivers battling to win an intergalactic struggle to rid the galaxy of the rising alien threats. From a 3rd person perspective, players use a variety of weapons (pistols, machine guns, flamethrowers) and stratagems (turrets, airstrikes, etc.) to shoot and kill the alien threats. Players can also aim down the sights for a more accurate 1st person camera view. Combat is accompanied by frequent sprays of blood and dismemberment as players exterminate the alien forces or players and squad mates are hit by environmental explosions or friendly fire. Enemy encampments and battlefield environments depict bloodstains and dismembered corpses.

if there is 100k players average
one player needs to kill 20k so yea a bit of them
You talk about the Sony and PSN thing like you care. Sorry not sorry but if you are willing to play the game no matter what, I don't think you should talk about it like you are on the side of the players. Cause you're not you play the game and that all you want you personally don't care about it if it had gone though you would not have said anything about it and kept on playing.
I like the Guard Dog, but it needs a larger Mag and needs to be resupplied from ammo spawns on the map. Would also be nice to base it on the Liberator Penetrator so it had medium armor penetration to give it more identity vrs the Guard Dog Rover. That would slightly nerf its damage as well to âbalanceâ out the changes.
The basic guard dog works well, when itâs working, but it feels like 80% of the time itâs on my back reloading or out of ammo. It doesnât try to shoot at enemies though me anywhere near as much as the Rover, but maybe in part thatâs because itâs so often out of ammo?
Ultimately, as the Guard Dog is only useful as long as you keep it fed, Iâd rather bring the Rover right now.
@@MrWhateverfits what?????????
Did they up the tank spawns I usually solo 4 and 5 but every outpost has 1 or 2 tanks and the medium and large have at least 3
I didnt see more than 150k online over the weekend. Our numbers are way down.
It was Mother's of Democracy day, weekend Helldiver
The ship has become a dead zone. No new stratgems at all. Nothing to spend points on. You do your round, and come back to useless computer on your ship. Then they nerf all the guns. Now, Zero fun.
And the Sony problem made a lot of people leave the game
Beats the sub 100k I saw around the 3rd
We had over 162k players online on Sunday
The most dangerous weapon in the Terminide arsenal is a dead biletitan. Stepping on it has allowed me to extract without shuttle too many times.
yea. far more dangerous than an actual living Bile Titan
I died while stepping on a tank thread... a DESTROYED TANK one.... talk about everything working fine.
Right, a bile titan corpse is like a psychic force hazard, you donât know what force will hit you if you get close. I think they should deactivate model collision when they die.
so, you want to be an astronaut helldiver? climb aboard this bile titan leg, to avoid living bugs/escape from a ditch or corner that you were trapped in. T- 10 seconds to liftoff
@@LAM1895 That could fix it but also i got stuck underneath a dead charger one time and was screaming trying to get out while my teammates covered me. Plus the fact that its more immersive when you have to climb over dead bodies
My favorite part of the Eruptor nerf is that it also indirectly nerfed the Stalwart for me, too. With the Eruptor, originally I could bring the Stalwart without feeling bad about it, but not anymore.
I love how with every "balance" update, they actually restrict player choice and force a narrower META, the opposite of what they're claiming to want. Further proof that the devs don't play their own game, or that they don't play above 4.
My favourite part of the Eruptor nerf, was that it was nerfed because of a bug with charger hitbox resulting in a 1 shot and had nothing to do with the Eruptor itself as other weapons can also exploit the bug.
"Balancing" in this game is reactionary and has absolutely zero thought put behind it, other than the lead balance dev who intentionally nerfs things because he says the game should be a sweat fest at difficulty 7. Many weapons and elements of the game have been bugged from launch, and these bugs resulted in nerfs after which IF they're patched, the nerfs are not reverted. It's a circus and one that throws tomatoes at the audience if they don't applause the devs snarky/insulting comments.
Arc Thrower main here. I have no idea what the dev team wants this gun to be.
First it was a quick burts long range chaff clearing weapon.
Then because of a "exploit" they lowered its fire rate from 0.5-1 second but gave it the ability to stagger Mediums and even Hulks also now short range from 50m-30m???
Then they removed its ability to stagger hulks because no reason the balance team just buffed it.
This balance team does not understand what the identity of this weapon is supposed to be. Even other weapons.
If it wasnt for the upgrade for Arc weapons to chain through 3 targets this weapon would probably be in the bin for me.
They also like, halved the range. You used to be able to hit a Charger from outside its detection range and kill it either before it noticed you or before it reached you.
Tbh, I miss the og Arc Thrower.
ââ@@DustyOrange thx i forgot about that. And tbh the range nerf was really stretching it because at the time it only killed chaff and targeting heavies was time consuming.
@@vozkolisk63
It actually was and still is able to kill everything except the biggest enemies. The factory strider and bile titan are the only ones you can't kill afaik. Its just that you have to hit the same spot for it to do proper damage, since it can strip armor. This is probably why they nerfed the range, but I don't think most people knew about this.
@@DustyOrange You also used to actually be able to kill Bile Titans with it. Sure, it took like 20 shots, but you could. Now, you can barely hit it because of how tall it is and how wonky the targeting is.
I used to use the Arc Thrower all the time. Now I never use it.
@@Spectacular_Insanity
The problem I have is they removed the ability to aim it.
You almost never get it to jump to the total 3 let alone the upgraded 4.
The thing will hit everything else but enemies. The ground, dead body, tree, grass, wall etc.
They made it a pain in the butt to use for no dam reason.
If they made the thing jump it be pretty good weapon for most things besides the big guys.
But no fun allowed. We got to balance out this game as if the AI are players and they are complaining that Helldivers are over powered.
Best comment i seen about weapon balancing was "its like taking your car to the mechanic with a poped tire but their solution is to pop the other 3 tires instead of fixing the 1 broken one" that shit hit so hardðĪĢðĪĢ
Gotta love how we got the eruptor in a decent state and now it's as dead as the railgun
To be fair unsafe mode on bots still can one tap hulk and dog if you fet them in the eye. Devastators are ohko on unsafe unless you hit the shield.
On bugs it does fall off, but bugs are crazy cannon and at strat central.
lmao, i went from seeing railguns to not seeing them at ALL since that patch, and then went from seeing the erupter to not seeing them- and if I did it was someone in disbelief of what they did
yeah but the railgun was for free
@@Scalespirit121 why would I use the railgun over almost any other support weapon when so many do it's job better
I tried the eruptor the other day and doesn't feel nearly as strong as it was before. I liked it because of its ability to penetrate through and around armor consistently. Now it barely even does that because the shrapnel was removed. Unless I'm completely missing something, that's how it felt against the bots.
That combined with halving the magazine size pretty much killed off any enjoyment I had for this weapon.
When they nerfed the Railgun the community was relatively split on the issue if they thought it was good or not. Back then i and many other said that if this is the stance they are going to take on balance in a PvE game it would harm the game long run. Fast forward a few months and here we are and the community isnt split anymore we are sick and tired of the garbage balancing and how few weapons there are that are actually viable in the higher difficulties.
I sincerely hope Arrowhead pulls its head out of its ass and start taking this seriously and do a PROPER weapon balancing run
Bro I can not tell you how many times I commented that this will be a net negative and they shouldnât be needing this hard in a pve game and everyone be that responded to my comments (which was hundreds of replies btw) almost 95% Iâd say, would just tell me to get good and stop following the meta.
Been saying this since the beginning. But everybody always says âskill issueâ or they just D ride the dev choices hard.
@@bresnato2319 Problem is they're trying to balance the game towards a 4 person squad that can communicate, some missions for example are heavily geared towards this like the emergency civilian evacuation, trying to tackle it like a normal defence mission will get you and your squad killed, you need to execute a plan before and run with it.
The patrol spawn changes as well are also another example, Why make the game harder for those with less than a full squad, Why punish Solo players by making the map swarm with enemies.
I've said this since the first major nerf which was the railgun that the game has a design flaw and the railgun was a fix when they nerfed it into the ground there wasn't anything nearly as good to fall back on, Thankfully they tried to do some quick buffs to weapons but it wasn't enough only nerfing enemy spawns and values managed to make a change.
The issue with the game at the moment that me and my friends are having is that we are able to do Helldive difficulty fairly easy fairly frequently, We all use different weapons but we rely on similar stratagems but we also got bored of that so we started using a loadout randomizer and I'll tell you what the game is harder but it's still doable.
Bare in mind that we are a 3-4 man squad on comms in discord meaning we have full communications, Unlike my friends I also play Public lobbies and the story is 100% different, It's a coinflip on if my squad will be a hinderance or an asset, If they talk or if they're mute, The only missions I've failed recently have been on public which I think is the main issue of the game.
With how they are trying to balance the game it punishes people who either can't find a good group or pre make one, its annoying that they constantly add new content but majority of it is either terrible on release or broken in which case will get nerfed very quickly.
I understand they need to do some balancing for a PVE game but at the moment there are far to many weapons, stratagems, Armor and much more that are just poorly balanced and just get swept under the rug and it's just frustrating man.
It feels a bit like Darks Souls 3. What I like but I can understand why not everyone likes it. The game used to be easier. I did lvl 7 missions solo. Currently I don't feel like solo missions anymore. Too difficult
I genuinely didnât get the split cause nerfing weapons or players in general and buffing enemies in a pve game is brain dead and if you were ever cool with the rail gun nerf theyâre ignorant and or just a parrot
well... the automatons also appear in far less numbers than the bugs..
They still aren't fun to fight against and that's all that matters in a video game. I don't enjoy getting shot from across the map or having the bots never miss their shots
Edit: To the "Skill issue" comments, probably is, and come up with an original comment. All the more reason why I don't enjoy fighting the bots lol. I'll stick to my bug missions you guys can enjoy your bot missions. I play a game to have fun and have an enjoyable experience, not to have to play like a sweat the whole game. When I want to sweat at a game I will go play a souls like game or a strategy game.
â@@Lewis-ec5sn
In my opinion, I kinda like that the bots are hard to fight. It is (or at least, was) fun to stealth on Bots. Its also fun for me to do hit and run on bots, which feels like what you're supposed to do.
You run in, hit hard and fast, then vanish like a ghost before reinforcements arrive, leaving them in confusion and drawing attention away from objectives.
Though, I supposed the main reason I like bots is because it actually plays different to bugs. If I wanna play more stealth or objectives, Bots. More shooting and mayhem, Bugs.
@@Lewis-ec5sn i actually find them more fun, if you are having difficulty just do the infinite grenade glitch then you will be unstopable
â@@Lewis-ec5sn sounds like a skill issue
Can you imagine bugs with guns and rocket launchers like pal world
It honestly feels like the balance team doesn't understand how players throw together loadouts. There are different kinds of threats and pressures, and you try to bring something to deal with each in accordance with how much you expect to need it. If weapon A doesn't deal with the threat anywhere close to weapon B, you're taking weapon B every time. If nothing effectively deals with the threat then you'll just be upset there are no tools. Things can deal with threat A less well if they deal with threat B too, but if it fundamentally cant handle the pressure applied by threat A, it doesn't matter if it also deals with B because threat A is still not taken care of.
Its wild to me that they cant figure out how to give weapons identity, nor figure out how to make them all feel good. You just need to make them deal with a class of threats well, and then balance them against other things meant to deal with that same class of threats.
People don't understand that its a toybox full of toys to use. If you use the same loadout for everything or just want to use the same guns over and over then they are missing the point.
@@Damaged7 Sure, but it only gets to be a toy box if the toys in the box are fun to use on the mission. Many people don't like to struggle a bunch, and find losing to not be fun.
I love using a wide variety of tools and stratagems, but its been getting harder to do that and still have fun.
â@@Damaged7 I'd say, why does it matter to you, others or developers if people find a play style and enjoy it? You're not going to force players who enjoy sneaking to swap to heavy armour blasting, by nerfing the life out of stealth viability, same if you buff everything but stealth. That mindset doesn't work, all it does is treat the game like wack-a-mole until nobody want's to play anymore because their preferred toy suck and the alternative options are even worse toys.
Just to clarify: Japan isn't truly blocked/unlisted. Japan has a "special" version of the game that only comes with Japanese audio and Japanese text. The regular helldivers client can change languages for these, but in Japan you can only get the Japan-only client.
I see a lot of games that mention that Japanese is the only language option in Japan. Is this a law or something?
@@AdamVladimirKross afaik it has to do with cultural differences, same deal with the original Starship Troopers when it was edited for both Japan and iirc Germany. neither of those places exactly like the kind of government super earth is modeled after, and for good reason.
@@AdamVladimirKross it's to do with the Microtransactions as it is outlawed in Japan, IIRC if Helldivers 2 were to end and the online discontinues it would mean everyone in Japan who brought them would have to be refunded (I could be wrong) but that is what I think could be why
@@zenoxp8928countries should have more laws like in Japan. Good for them
@@ryanvacation7319 I agree, just wish Sony and others could also remove them... Especially from singleplayer games
I'm gone until significant changes are made to weapon balance.
This should be top comment most players share this sentiment and rightly so Iâm also fuckin done with it
Me too and it really sucks after 120hrs and having an awesome game to play after work the last warbond and patch was the last straw I've been playing Cod Cold war zombies instead and I was an avid modern cod hater
After 300 hours I can truly say I'm over the bots. An interesting enemy to fight for sure, but there's too many instant kills when it comes to them. Even using the Democracy protects armor and the backpack shield rockets still ragdoll me around and while I'm unable to move something else shoots me until I die. Not to mention I see more minigun devastators than regular foot soldiers these days and sometimes they just go into 100% accuracy mode. When it comes to bugs, I know why and how I died. Bots? Always a more than lucky rocket or double headshot.
Stealth builds help alot, friend.
I agree completely. I don't have a problem with some enemies having instant death attacks, but when you have no way to avoid them or know that it's coming, that's just poor game design.
Gotta love a rocket to the face while ragdolling 30 feet in the air
It's two main points of contention. The AI for the shielded devs needs to be reworked so they can't just absolutely obliterate a player in under a second, that will NEVER feel fun or fair. The other is the headshot damage, it needs to just be straight up removed imo, rng insta-kills when taking damage is one of the dumbest decisions I've ever heard of when it comes to game design.
I agree about the insta kills. Even in light armor a direct rocket or canon hit should put you down only 95% life but not instant kill you. Flame hulks are getting better sometimes you survive it but sometimes it just touches your dead. Haha also I agree headshot damage is stupid in a none PVP game. It rewards no one.
As for the devastators and bigger bots. They need to have some sort of unique sound signature so that you can hear them coming. Itâs kinda absurd that a patrol of 4 devastators and 2 hulks can easily sneak up on you because they are quiet as ninjas. These are 15 feet tall metal robots their foot steps should be clanking and making a ruckus.
I am a solo player in helldivers 2. And since they âfixedâ the spawn rate more often then not I no longer finish most missions I drop into. Alt-F4 has been pressed on more than one occasion. I want to play the game but I donât want it to feel like a job or chore just to get one mission done. With the spawn rate for solo divers where it is there is no fun in the game anymore. Not sure why they canât just do fractions 1 diver should be 1/4 the spawns from a full team easy math.
IT IS 1/4! It was less before so they made it linear. 20 people liking your comment shows people dont read and are just mad
â@@gulsanale3750 that's how it was supposed to work, but instead it gives you the full spawn amounts for a 4-stack team as a solo. It's a bug, and not a fun one, playing on helldive watching my teammates crash out of the game one by one leaving me alone with an unchanged number of enemy spawns is definitely something
Um correction, helldivers "used" to check both those boxes of being fun and and good escape. Until the devs kept making dumb decision after dumb decision.
Yep
Agreed.
As soon as the Patrol patch hit, vast numbers of players had to instantly drop 2-3 levels to compensate. Meaning they were back to playing more limited content they had previously leveled out of.
Less mission variety, less complicated objectives, less mob diversity, less access to higher level samples etc.
This wasnât the answer. Pulling the rug out from under players that had worked to get to Tiers 4-7 just to force them back down isnât good for the game.
Maybe they need a âturboâ mode for players in tiers 7-9 that Jack the spawn rates for a greater challenge. But still leaves the option for lesser skilled players to gain access to the missions, mobs and items that will keep those players invested in the game.
Skill caps are real and a PVE game simply doesnât need âelite leaderboardâ attitudes for flexing, epeen or whatever.
I want them to add a backpack to the HMG and just make it be belt fed from it. Make it about 4 mags worth (300 rounds) and it will be good. Provides great suppressive fire with no reload and just allows you to have fun as a Heavy Gunner. That would then pave the way to making a backpack fed minigun and such. They NEED to make this game fun again and give all the guns some love.
Let's pretend the 170+ countries not fighting will not make a difference.
Knowing North Korea is banned, i'm sad, imagine, playing a game about democracy with Kim Jong Un
They weren't banned from playing, just no NEW sales.
@nunab1864 From what i have heard if they deleted the game they cannot reinstall it. So, it would matter.
â@@nunab1864still bad
@@BroInVietnam No, if they still own it they can reinstall. If they refunded, they cannot rebuy it.
As I have said before - the spawn rate hasn't just changed at the higher difficulties... I was running a solo on easy yesterday to knock out the 200 kills with the machine gun... and barely made it out while surrounded at the extractions with a total of 550 kills... 550 kills and still surrounded by around 40-50 more enemies at extraction... on easy level.... I'd say the spawn rates are broken. That is a ridiculous number of enemies on that level.
I had been practicing solo bots before they messed up the spawns. I was really starting to enjoy them way more than the bugs and was slowly working my way up in difficulty. Now there are so many patrols that it feels like I'm constantly surrounded and clearing objectives takes forever due to the seemingly constant reenforcement by patrols.
I hated bugs before now I hate both I think robots are way way more fun to fight
When I saw the major order I was like IMMA KILL A HUNDRED THOUSAND ON MY OWN!!! 30 Kills later, running for my life and using my last stim, I'm beginning to feel doubtful about this one
Big issue for me is that on an average bug mission I'm getting 6-800 kills just playing normally. Was running 7-8 bots last night and engaging everything I possibly could was getting around 250 kills and the most in squad.
I don't think the Sony issues are having nearly the long term effect that gameplay problems have been. Deaths rarely feel fair or earned, I'd say about 90% of my deaths are from stupid BS that is not under the control of the player. There's too many to list but not being able to see shit on half the planets due to fog more dense than the atmosphere of mercury, enemies that instantly and perfectly track through objects or across entire planets when they feel like it and call for backup in the first microsecond after I land on a planet, bug breaches that spawn 6 bile titans who are highly resistant to anemic strategems, all weapons being nerfed into a tic-tac-toe game of "what sucks the least," having to fight on the same horrible planets for the 10,000th time (Hellmire), gameplay AI that can't seem to decide whether it wants to be too easy or annoyingly tryhard, enemy patrols (and fire tornadoes) that spawn in marching directly towards you when you're stuck on an objective, enemies constantly spawning in behind you or right on the other side of terrain that also already know where you are, etc. etc. etc..
In the CEO's own words: "It feels like every time someone finds something fun, the fun is removed" and that's how the entire game feels now. Can't see shit, can't do shit, stunlocked for 20 years while fruitlessly mashing the heal button, instant one shot snipes through fog so dense it may as well be a solid, and even one tap deaths in general now. Why is it the oversized honeypot ant (basic terminid) can take more damage than future super soldier covered in armor?
Also, if the devs supposedly want us to use strategems to take out the biggest enemies, why do all the strategems suck at doing that? If they want us to use strategems, why are half of them used on guns and backpacks your character could just deploy with? Why do the specialized heavy-killing strategems fail to kill their targets at a rate of 50% or more (railcannon, rocket pods). Why are we limited to 4 strats? Why can't we share strats with other Helldivers? Why does every planet modifier take fun OUT of the game and none put fun INTO the game (where are the buff modifiers)? Why is the spear STILL absolute garbage?
It's all so tiresome, it's becoming a chore to play now.
I think what happened is that Sony's antics were the straw that broke the camel's back. A ton of people stopped playing in protest and got out of the habit of diving on a daily basis. Once they were able to step back, some just stopped altogether and some picked it back up but the rose-tinted glasses were now gone. People who may have been on the fence before don't want to bother any more and hard-core fans might be a bit less hardcore now. I don't think Sony is still keeping a bunch of players away but they did interrupt the hype train enough to let a significant number of people get off.
Yea. It is not a problem to block more than half of the world's countries to purchase the game just because you wanna force your service to them. Sure. Also block off people that purchase previously from playing, yea yea. Not a big problem. It is not a problem when I am not affected.
If your frustration's in response to the recent spike in patrol spawn rates (IIRC, patrol spawn time assumes full party regardless of actual party size), then yeah, the mob volume has hit levels that you need to be a serious hardcore player to survive and that can get exhausting. Even I struggle with that and I'm slightly more resilient than most.
If you're talking about before that, I don't know, I've honestly tried to keep myself easy to please and focused more on the things I enjoy about the game. Most of my deaths, I consider fair because inevitably the chain of events always begins from you choosing to engage or run away (and if either inevitably get you killed, your mistake is choosing that difficulty...unless you're doing difficulty 1 in which case picking this game might be your mistake). The few forced errors (deaths) I do have, I don't take too seriously, and typically they're more amusing and/or educational than they're frustrating.
Therein lies the problem though, I suppose. Looking at your concerns, you're focusing on all the bad or could-be-better parts of the game and letting it drain away at you. I could answer all your whys but you probably wouldn't be happy with those answers, so all I can say is...yeah, take a break. I do that too when I've pretty much bought out every warbond, when I've had 3 consecutive losses because nothing went the way I liked for 2 hours, or when I start to recognize that while it's intentional, it's also disheartening that there isn't a perceived "end" to the fighting like they had in the first game. It's easy to forget: we ARE civilians, there's no shame in going "back" to civilian life.
@@seafatt Literally nobody said that wasn't a problem. Quit strawmanning.
I don't mind nerfs usually, but some of what we've gotten has been more than a little heavy handed.
Like a 50% increase to the quasar recharge seems excessive, a 25% increase would have been fine honestly.
and those stupid enemy spawns on solo suck balls too
Tone down the difficulty , nothing is stopping you but your own Ego
@@TheWill383 i guess their ceo is on my side
@philippvoid1800 Cause enough people like you cried about it. He has a game to sell. Lvl 9 is supposed to be for the Hardcore Sweats. I mean it's called Helldive...it's supposed to humble you.
Yet they tone it down to people can keep claiming that they Solo a 9.... wow you got 1/6 of what a Team has to deal with instead of what's it's supposed to be. 1/4. You all gonna turn this game into a cakewalk.
@@TheWill383 the fvck are you taking about? i play on Hard diff and the spawns were ok before. then they changed it. get the fvck outa here
@@TheWill383 I used to be juuust good enough to solo 6 if I tried hard enough (about 50/50 success) but I can't even duo 5 anymore... all I want is to have fun playing duos again at least smh
Helldivers should just be... more. More power in our guns, more stratagem called in with lower cooldowns, more enemies and larger hordes. I want more viability and options, more build possibilities, and more chaos as a whole too. With the balance and meta issues, Helldivers 2 had been figured out to a science and that's kinda a shame considering what it could be and what the previous game was.
Those balance patches are counter productive your completely right they shouldnât ever nerf anything there should only be buffs to guns that arenât being used never ever nerfs I completely agree wish the devs would read this comment
The Guard Dog suffers from the same problem all the turrets suffer from: it relentlessly fires at shit that it will never kill. They _really_ need to patch that behavior out of every strategem we have that has to pick its own targets.
Make it something like The Division and its Drone, where you hit a button while highlighting your crosshairs on an enemy and it will target that enemy. Except for HD2, it will only target that type of enemy until there are none left in range.
Spawn rates are definitely not behaving as stated in the patch notes and it does, indeed, seem that the game is spawning the same number of enemies as you'd get if there was a full squad irrespective of how many Divers are in the mission.
It's really quite astounding that, having got so much of this game right, Arrowhead is screwing the balancing so badly...
Bro, Menkent is crazy, even after clearing everything there are like 3 patrols roaming around you and towards you, all of them has hulks and 7 devastors, on top of them snitches with flares to call more dropships
Basicly Sony has two options. Either HD2 is on sale everywhere or they geoblock HD2 in regions where PSN is not available. So far it seems they are choosing the second option, while Arrowhead wishes for the first option.
I have no idea why Sony would choose more PSN subscribers over profits. Money is something they lack since they throw it to devs "under the table" for exclusivity almost every instance they can. It also doesn't maximize their profits by making the game exclusive. It really does baffle me that they'd rather sabotage themselves (to make an ecosystem of mouth-droolers) over making money.
@@MLPIceberg It's probably due a decrease in Playstation gamers due to the price of a PS5 as well as paying for online in this economy (and same for Xbox), and Sony is probably trying to get PSN numbers up for their investors. Statistics for big corpo board meeting seem like the only possible reason in my opinion, eventhough they did it in a completely idiotic and incompetent way. Also, only found out recently that the main CEO of Sony is no longer Japanese and their Head Quarters have moved to California. A certain type of an American CEO explains so much about why there's more censorship and stuff happening with Sony lately. I feel so bad for the devs, especially Arrowhead's CEO who seems really down to earth and just wants to make a great game that the players enjoy.
@@MLPIceberg PSN Subscriptions IS profit, but you dont need one to play Helldivers, just a PSN account.
â@@howl1440 I own both Xbox and PS5, and I'm primarily a PC gamer... My Xbox sees far more use than my PS5 primarily because game pass allows me to play games on either Xbox or PC flawlessly. And Xbox integrates with Windows way better. Not to mention I've been on Xbox since halo CE dropped. The PS5 was the first PlayStation I've owned since the PS2, and I only bought it for ghost of tsushima because when that game came out I wasn't expecting Sony to make a PC version. Unfortunately with Sonys practices lately I'm unlikely to buy anymore of their stuff and I have cancelled my PS+ subscription.
There are a ton of PS exclusives I'd love to buy, but can't justify giving the money to Sony currently. Not to mention I still miss some of their classic games that they shut the studios that made them down. (Looking at you socom)
I won't be playing agin until the solo patrol rate is fixed. Unfortunately. I love the game, but even level 4 is nuts now. The game isnt fun like this.
Thank god this game has a good CEO. If it weren't for him we'd be doomed.
The warbonds have been so underwhelming...
last one was dope but they nerfed it all right on time for this one to drop
You nailed it regarding player counts and the current situations in the game. I stopped playing but still closely follow the game using channels like yours. I plan to return but as of right now, my whole squad has moved on to other things. We want to feel like an elite squad up against impossible odds, not hapless grunts sent to the front with increasingly ineffective gear.
Love how in a Warbond called POLAR Patriots, and itâs supposed to be winter themedâĶthe last armor set is orange and brown.
Regarding the Sony PSN situation, I naively would like to believe that the delay is because lawyers have gotten involved and the delay is in drawing up contracts between Sony, AH and Valve to make the PSN requirement changes and other changes all three companies want because of the whole debacle.
I have to think that the old contracts were drawn up months before and looked over by people on all sides even before the game came out which would have taken a lot of time.
They activated it because it was already in the contract and was held off for unforseen circumstances. But now that they have to reverse it, I suspect all those things have to be drawn up again, and hence will take a lot longer than we expect.
But then again, I might just be naive.
If that were the case Sony would just put out a tweet saying that itâs a work in progress.
@@thebiggestpanda1 Maybe it's a legal thing. Like I said, naive. But hopeful.
@@thebiggestpanda1 Unfortunately that's not how companies work. They'd much rather keep their legal proceedings private, as they should for any public advantage in court, than let everyone know that they are vulnerable to such legalities or are having issues with them.
@@SideBit what possible vulnerability would they have by simply stating â we plan to relist the game on steam for those countriesâ ?
I doubt its a contract thing, I think its because countries were against PSN but thats speculation the other thing as well is companies very rarely want to go into court because it's costly, Nintendo on the other hand is... Different, I think Sony locked it off cause its the route of less resistance and much easier to do than to "Go to court"
My friend and I stopped playing. Every weapon that we at one point enjoyed got nerfed into the ground. And now, at two players, we get to use those pea shooters against endless hordes of bugs because of borked spawns OR just get blasted to oblivion from across the map against automatons. The fun is certainly gone.
I actually like the bots over bugs imo, but I think some of the problem is weapon optimization. Bots need to be countered with certain weapons and strategem which sometimes get nerfed or in desperate need of a buff. Eradicator, Dominator, most assault weapons, strategem restrictions in general, Quasar Cannon, ect.
So someone who dosenât like the explosive primaries like the plasma punisher or even pre nerf Eruptor are shit out of luck and should stick to the bugs, especially if youâren ot able to hit Devastators in the ehad.
Got it, Iâll stay fighting the bugs then thanks.
Autocannon is love, autocannon is life.
It's all you need to generally guide a bots day, failing that, use a RR, its so dammed good against hulks and heavy devs, if you're feeling clever, you can try some blackhawk down bullshit on gunships

They should allow you to put your primary on the rover so you can switch guns from it instead of it being only the liberator
Great idea
You know I'm just gonna slap a sickle on it and call it done
That's brilliant.
The only issue I see with that is that you would constantly be hunting for ammo boxes to keep it active after every firefight. A better solution would be to have the Roger's gun be switched to something else like the Penetrator, Adjudicator, or even the stalwart if you want to push it
Or special weapon?? Flame thrower drone, lol
Game went from: You're not supposed to be a super soldier, work together and clutch out of situations with good stratagems!
To: you are useless. and because you are useless, we will supply you with even weaker weapons so you REALY feel it when you are fighting the enemy.
True if the bots only had to reload they wouldnt be so oppressive
I wouldnât mind fighting bots if their patrols werenât so scuffed
I prefer robots cause bugs seem infinite but now the bots feel equivalent to bug holes itâs rough Iâm kinda done with it until they fix the balance
I stopped caring about killing as many bots as possible after I played a few elimination missions and my teammates Bee line it to the pelican ignoring the vast amount of bots that are still surrounding us. I'm not trying to kill 2 billion bots by myself and honestly I don't think those anti-tank mines will be worth it anyways. They're cool down is so much longer than it needs to be
the whole spawn rates and patrols never made sense. Why would destroying the structures that produce units cause more spawns. why would teams with less than 4 players have more spawns. If anything, full groups should get more spawns because even on helldive with a 4 man, there are moments of lull where there's nothing happening because we had killed everything. But duo with a friend? in a lower diff? lots of patrols that just homes in at our location everytime
The only time I have ever used the Gaurd Dog is if I don't have a backpack and I find it mid mission.
You can find them?
@DerLichert Yep! It doesn't happen often, but it's possible to find malfunctioning drop pods, and you can shoot them open. Sometimes, it's a support weapon like the AMR or machine gun and sometimes a backpack like the guard dog or supply pack.
Unironically lvl 4 runs are too hard for me solo.
Thats weak bro you should be able to solo 7s EASY.
@@epicwinning just can't, I get easily overwhelmed with 3s a lot of the time. But especially now with the patrols punishing non 4 player sessions. So I play in 2s mostly, sometimes 3s.
@@IQisThicc SAME! I mostly solo. 2 is a more stress-free run with some challenge. 3 is doable with more KIA's. 4 is insane for me. I do it rarely on my own. Im only level 25. I only really have time for a mission or two an evening.
Yes it is much more difficult now that you are basically facing the same amount of enemies a 4 man crew would.
Sounds like you should try running public sessions
ideas for the Guard Dog:
- Fires AP ammo, giving it medium armor penetration
- Give it the same mag size as the Liberator, 45 rounds.
- Fires in bursts of three shots, for better accuracy and ammo efficiency.
- Ammo found throughout the map restocks 1 magazine, out of 6 spare magazines stored in the backpack.
Problems I have with the bots are how they always know where players are regardless of LoS. Instead of firing at our last location, they always do suppressing fire at our location, contradicting what Johann said in Drewski's video. Large terrains seem to do nothing to stop them from firing at you. Hell, even the shield devastator can shoot through walls sometimes. Patrols kept running at your location up to their aggro range.
Not to mention reinforcement bugs where you can't be reinforced and the still existing crash issues. there are like 4/10 chance this reinforcement bug will happen.
Helldivers 2, the game that is consistently inconsistent.
It's just frustrating.
Not to mention some of these bots have that reinforcement flare on Quickdraw and launch it before you can do anything, calling in endless dropships
My personal experience is that I'm tried of trying to guess all of the changes. So I just stopped logging in. It's not fun for me, or my team when I load in with the wrong equipment that has been nerfed to oblivion and I was unaware of. I'll just go play something different. When they get things figured out, and start leaving things alone for longer than a week, I'll reconsider.
Itâs not just your experience brother itâs a shame many people are done with this game but will return when they put the fun back into it
instead of static high amounts of patrols, i think a GTA style wanted level system should be implemented to indicate how fucked a diver team is at any given time
I would really enjoy this, perhaps it could be tremors for bugs and electromagnetic radiation for bots, both measured by the destroyer and relayed to the players for a cool in-game lore explanation
I feel like the balancing issue comes down to different game design philosophies.
-The dev team seems to want a challenging game where the players aren't very powerful and have to play smart to beat missions, avoiding hordes where they can.
-The player base meanwhile, seems to want a game where they feel like heroes with cool weapons they can mix and match to slay hordes.
Yes and the playerbase wants strong primaries and the devs want to balance your loadout overall.
This game shouldnât have nerf, only buffs for both us and enemies, and making it a constant battle of advancing technology to deal with the ever evolving threats coming our way
Yeah, I feel like the WH40k method would be better for their buffs, just buffs all around
you nailed it. when the game is more frustrating than fun, players move on. We're still kinda managing but have had a few really frustrating moments - patrols phasing in instead of roving, etc. Honestly, if they keep nerfing things into the ground, I may have to pick up FO4 for another playthrough. I probably won't return from that.
I tried the guard dog twice. I was not a fan. Running out of ammo sucks pretty bad
It used to be a lot worse. Until recently it only restocked like two mags per supply pickup. With regular resupplies, the thing is pretty strong. It even kills bile spewers at close range, but the ammo economy is still not ideal by a long shot.
Itâs sucks on bugs but itâs pretty useful against bots. Itâs a head shot machine and kills devastators easily.
The camera glitch in the very begining of the video has been happening to me for at least a month now. Wanna say it happens the most using the Eruptor, not sure if the gun has anything specific with the glitch tho
It's any gun with a scope. To fix it switch back to the gun and use the scope.
It's something relating to first person view and the animation to change from first to 3rd person.
I've had it happen a couple of times since launch.
I generally find changing from FPV avd 3rd person or doing dive to prone helps fix it
That first glitch happens to me sometimes, I will also get stuck in first person scope. Holding open the stratagem menu almost always fixes it
They nerfed our fun guns, they took the fun out and game keeps kicking me out of the matches or crashes. Fuck that

Nah games not as fun now simple as that itâs literally use these 3 strats and use these same three guns only people are bored of it

A holiday not celebrated on the same day or in every country for that matter. Oh wait.... They banned the majority of the countries from playing. So yeah you're probably right.
I got shot yesterday and ended inside a rock. My friend laughed and said your invincible now. However those bots with the chainsaws on their hands walked into the rock where I was stuck and did the whole "Texas chainsaw massacre" thing on me.
The number of hunters swarming every match has been annoying. Even after destroying a nest theyâll keep showing up in large numbers to the point where thereâs nothing you can do
Dude. Destroyed their nests make them spawn more. ð dont ask me why AH logic.
Apart from all the problems this game have, the behaviour of the balance team is totally self-generated and avoidable. I guess they trounce their game as they see fit. Sad though that maybe with the exception of Twinbeard, Pilestedt seems the only one who doesnt want to fuck up the game even more.
Iâm ready for the third faction- taking a break from the game until then
Fair imma get back on when they fix the bs balance
I just hope that they incentivize the Major Order more. Maybe add a certain XP based off your level? Or some cool cosmetic? I just dont see the point of doing it if you are maxed out with Warbonds.
The ones fighting the bugs are the same ones that were mad about people staying at The Creek
They will sit there and shame people for struggling on level 5 when bugs is baby mode in comparison the people who only play bugs are the same mfs who think the game is fine rn
The only reason why the current order will fail is the loss of our brothers from the delisted countries.
Mind you the head of balancing is the same individual whose done balancing of Hello Neighbor 2.
This explain a lot of things smh
You make it seem like he's never learnt his lesson. That's like saying you got caught stealing a purse as a teen and now that you're grown up, you can't get a job and live on the streets because no-one can forgive you over a petty crime you made years ago. If that was the case, then we'd have very few developers doing anything in the industry.
Hello Neighbor 2 is a vastly different game than Helldivers 2. I'm not saying he's impervious to criticism, only to give the guy a second chance.
@@MLPIcebergactions speak louder than words

@@MLPIceberg all im saying some of the nerfs are best to be rolled back with how theres the whole wave of new bots, aside from Sony shooting their leg off with a buckshot.
Patrols do is different from the last major order in bots. And not in a fun way. When you decide to not loose time fighting a pointless bot drop and run away to another objective. You suddenly notice there's absolutely no path there's ever a payroll in every single possible path between guarded points of interest on the way.
They should just give the guard dog a liberator penetrator with the upgrades you mentioned and a targeting parameter to not shoot at anything that is to heavily armored for it to damage ( or just introduce customization and let you hook up any gun you own to it)
Well, there goes the guard dog rover. Incoming nerf on the way. Rather than buff the guard dog, their history shows they'll nerf the rover
Doing major orders and defense missions is a drag now because the active playerbase is 1/4th of what it was before the Sony debacle.

That's not really true. Taking a quick peak at the SteamDB numbers shows that the PC player counts weren't affected by that at all.
As one of the Day 1 players, I'm honestly just waiting for the game figure itself out. The launch was pure chaos, their content release schedule is too ambitious, and the balancing decisions feel like they're being made by a penguin. That;s not to mention the hurdles Snoy keeps throwing at them. Don't get me wrong, I love this game. I will ride it out into the sunset, it's a future hall of famer for what it is and what its done for the industry. It smacked Triple-A's in the mouth, stood its ground against corporate overreach, and reminded everyone what games should be about: fun. But right now, it's a bit of a hot mess and I don't want to ruin it for myself. I'm perfectly ok letting it sit in the oven for a bit, because I know how delicious it will be when its finally cooked.
They need to reassign that balance lead though
Value added them the 3 countries onto the list because they were originally supposed to be on there, but it was stopped halfway because of our noble cause, and Lady Liberty blessed us. I just thought I would add some extra info. It was confirmed by the CEO on discord

it's just that bugs are easier because they don't shoot you from a distance
â@@raaaaaaaaaaahhhhh I've had the opposite experience, where the bots are more fun and less frustrating because they don't just swarm you by the dozens with nigh invincible freight trains and movement arresting goo spitters. â@@raaaaaaaaaaahhhhh
I didn't like bots until I learned that you can stealth around patrols, explosions and stratagems can be used as lures, and if there's too many reinforcements, you can literally just run and bait them away from the objective, then circle back when you lose them.
Most players I've played with usually just keep staying on objective or extract, which attracts WAY too many bots and it becomes almost impossible to do anything without dying.
Exactly anyone saying otherwise are the same idiots sayin the game is fine rn
"You just have to not suck"
Buddy just proving one more reason why most casual players don't want to fight the bots, trying to pug into a bot run has a chance 10 Fold that you get matched with the elitist prick trying to suck all the fun out of a GAME.
Always thought it was strange how the smgs do more damage per bullet than most of the Assault Rifles, definitely makes them pointless
180 countries removed from the player pool? And we're having trouble with the MO, you say?
I'm sure these things aren't related.
i got a bug last game where the automatons spawned endlessly, note that it was only on hard or extreme difficulty, we were playing as 2 players. Every 7 seconds 3-4 dropships spawned and 2 tanks got dropped, it became impossible to extract as they just completely swarmed the place, this was definitely not a normal spawnrate, as we already did 2 missions before on the same difficulty. This felt more like 4 player helldiver difficulty spawnrate.
That's assuming that update doesn't break anything. I hope they can put the fun back into this game.
Is there a link to the Polar gear poll? Where is it located?

There's way less bots spawned as comparwd to bugs. They really should've lowered the amount to 1.5 B

But nah. One guy @'d the moderators screaming _"witch hunter"_ and I was outright banned.
No DMs, no warnings from any mods, no discussion or opportunity to revoke/delete the question/post.
Game is great. _Some_ mods like the Smoldiver duo are cool...
But overall the Discord mods and community managers seem hypersensitive.
It's been devolving into an echo chamber, forcing even folks like myself that took the time and effort to test and give in-depth feedback on gear alongside a variety of potential options to help rebalance 'em.
The portable HMG and the pulse rifle _(Sickle)_ changes were both my own suggestions; the reticle for HMG and reserve mag' reduction from the 6 or so prior to a total of 3...
But nah. I mention a single dev by name, asking about the kerfuffle surrounding them and if it holds any ground... Banned forever from the discord server.
Was just plain unreasonable, man.
I had zero prior offenses.
Just make the liberator have an alternate fire setting to switch to bigger bullets with medium armor piercing rounds with a limited mag of like 15 rounds. Then you can switch back to smaller rounds with separate reloads
It doesn't matter who you PREFER to fight! You fight for the Major Order EVERY TIME! We all have our preferences, but we're fighting for the collective good here!
I had that same glitch happen in an Automaton mission yesterday after getting hit while on a small hill. Firing my weapon seemed to pop me back into reality.
To fix the screen issue after being blasted, ADS and then toggle by pressing your right control stick. It only happened to me once and that seemed to fix it.
The guard dog also needs to fire armor penetrating rounds in order to be good
Kill counts are still screwed up at a fundamental level. The past few Personal Orders have included kills with certain weapons or sentries. I know for a fact that I didn't bring those specific weapons along on missions, but still accomplished them by virtue of other members of the squad handling it. I'm not complaining, since I got the medals. So they'll end up either fixing this count issue or I would hope they just fix the language around the order (specific weapon kills by SQUAD). I don't expect the latter.
If you want to talk about player count look at the drop from the April 29th update. Just before that we were over 300k players after that it rapidly droped to about 120-150k.
Yep and it shall continue until they fix it
The issue with gun balance is that the balance team is literally making these nerfs just so they can claim they're not sitting around their office staring at their screens all day. Nothing else makes sense. This is a pure PvE game. Unless a weapon is one shotting Bile Titans, there's no reason to be nerfing all these weapons.
Itâs because they have some warped vision of what the games supposed to be when itâs not what made the game popular it was fun now it isnât thatâs likely the reason for them using the word âbalancedâ when thereâs nothin balanced about it they just completely changed the gameplay by removing fun and I couldnât care less if someone collaterals 5 titans itâs a pve game other than that you hit the nail on the head
That glitch you saw at the start of the video happened to me too yesterday
There're so many bugs with being shot now, 1 time I got shot while using stim and my camera got throw to the sky. I was still able to move around but didn't know what I am controlling until a bit later I saw lower half of my body running around. Yes, only the bottom half, I still can move and doing the rescue obj door but i couldn't shoot anything for awhile until somehow my upper half magically appear on my body.
Can we talk about how we have no real reliable way to deal with armour except 3 support weapons and stratagems which constantly get âmiss everythingâ modifier, âharder codesâ modifier or simply âremovalâ modifier?
For reference. First game only had one offensive drone.
It was the liberator one and it had to reload BUT it had infinite mags. Why we have two of them and only one acring like the original, idk.
But i think AH will nerf rover even more to the point that both guard dogs become a meme
During one of my dives, I did see a group of bugs despawn when a 4th player dove in. It is getting a little insane right now.
The Guarddog is an automaton headshot machine. It does really well afainst bots due to its sharpshooter aim.
Bots feel broken because of spawn rates. Also, it does not matter the kit I take, I feel weak. The game is in the worst state it's been both balance wise and stability wise. Half the games, I play either game crashes or boot me from a squaded lobby to a solo lobby. This was my favorite game, but now it just feels like a chore. It suck but unless there's a significant change, I'm probably not gonna pick it back up.
