Ive learned so much from many of your videos. Ive never really messed with boats before besides my 2 dinky projects. but now i feel confident enough to successfully modify a discontinued hull, Thanks to You! Ill definitely keep you updated brother! 🤙
I had migrated at The Hobby Shop same one you have binders with a three-year-old with a 3s battery that goes about 50 miles an hour hobby shop in Sterling from Winter Haven Florida
Hey man. How much to send you my Miss Geico for upgrades? I've wanted to up mine but I'm just not good with the electronics and crap. It's my favorite boat but I just don't take it out much because she's not very fast. Thanks for the videos. God bless
i realize you have moved on to other projects. i did almost the exact same upgrades only i used a the surpass 2838 4700 kv with a 32mm prop and a ztw esc.i use the airsoft batteries i have a 3s 2000 mah that fits perfect in each sponson, im surprised that they are 2000mah considering how small and thin they are. they are very cheap too check em out i think DR. jet uses same style. i've gone through the same struggles with finding the right brass colors. there's always just a little off in size. i did use a flex shaft but its the one available for barbwire wire boat . fits perfect didn't even need to trim the flex cable
As you are well aware, the lower the CG is in a cat, the less prone they will be to rolling over in a turn. While your MG doesn't seem to have a problem in the turns, getting the battery down in the sponsons wouldn't hurt either. Check out the nunchuck-style batteries made for Air-Soft guns. They are essentially 2 thin, flat, but fairly long 1S batteries wired in series to yield a 2S pack. I've seen them from under 1.2mah up to about 1.8mah. I used them in an experimental project, and while the project itself was a dead-end, the batteries worked well and fit into tiny spaces.
@@IRONCLADRC EXACTLY! See? Great minds think alike. Stick one in the bottom of each sponson. The connecting wires may need to be lengthened. If that is the case, make 110% certain you can't accidentally short something out when you're doing the mod; insulate and isolate everything.
Sooo, I did the motor, esc, servo and decided to try the boat with the straight shaft and an atomic 17 prop. At 75% throttle (regulated at remote) it did a barrel roll around 20-25mph. No air no warning just barrel roll lol. Flex shaft time! And maybe a better choice in prop. Happy boating
Hey man im totally new to this whole rc thing ive built a boat out of foam board using brushed motor but no power so i wanted to try your method i hope it doesnt do a barrell roll as some of the other folks said it would in their geico boat. If you have any advice please tell me like i said im completely new. Also love your Content!!! Very informative.
Nice Upgrade for the little MG. I have one I upgraded too. Someone had a nice parts list on OSE so I went that root. I haven't tested it yet. Talk about putting 10lbs of poop in a 5 lbs bag. LOL
I have one like that, I would like to put it just like you modified it. How can we send you mine and the money so that you can do it just like the one you made that boat?
I just got everything that you did, I’ll let you know how it goes! Going to play with only electrical esc, servo, receiver, and try it before doing the flex drive :)
As you can see in my profile pic, I have one, and idk if I wanna put a regular brushed setup in mine and make it a recovery pusher or if I wanna do something like this and make it speedy
She's running very gracefully! Nice job Big "B". I like how you use what you got. That odd size 3mm flex cable should hold up for a long time since it's slightly thicker than .098 flex cable which would be the obvious choice for this little boat. Like you mentioned, however, if you go with .098 flex cable, you can pick up a flex coupler from OSE that will fit the motor and flex cable, but it might be too long which will complicate the installation. The motor looks easy to remove, however, so it shouldn't be a problem. Like I said, though, stick with what you got especially since the boat is running so well. It would be cool if you could mount batteries in the sponsons, but it might not be possible because of space restrictions. Look forward to see what else you do to her.
I looked for a 2.3mm motor shaft 3mm flex thanks brother. collet/coupler for what seems like a month now. I've found Couplers the cheap Blue ones, I haven't seen any collet style Couplers. For 2.3mm to .98 or .130 shafts I looked everywhere? I want to get another 2440 for the mini mono but couldn't find the correct collet. Grrrr. Thanks again brother
MY 16" CAT CHARGER IS ALL READY TO GO. JUST WAITING FOR MY FLYSKY RADIO. I TOO HAD A BRUSHED MOTOR AND DID A CHANGE TO A 3S ESC AND 2324 MOTOR. BUT THE ANGEL OF THE STUFING TUBE WAS JUST AT A SLIGHT ANGEL. I GOT TWO 2S 1500 MAH BATTERYS FOR THE BOAT. ( ONE AT A TIME ). BUT I THINK I WILL GET TWO 3S BATTERYS . THEN WE WIL HAVE A SHOW DOWN. THE BOAT IS CALLED LITEHAWK CHARGER.
sorry for my ignorance but i am new at boats. i can fly anything, drive anything, but never had a boat. can you give me a little more specific info on the shaft and prop you use or at least would recommend to use? thanks.
.130 flexcable to 4mm to 1/8 should work with the stock collet. Here's the link. You will need the corresponding brass stuffing tube This is basically the same set up I'm using Flex cable www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ose-cable-1085 Stuffing tube www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ks-brass-tb-12

I’d love to have mine upgraded. I got this exact boat at a own shop for $75. It has a brushless kit installed but vibrates so bad. I know more of cars. Nothing on boats.
I have to exact boat. Who could I send it to and have it upgraded. My 9 year old son is wanting to get into boats so bad. Someone has already tried to go brushless and it has a bad shake. Idk what to do with it. But willing to pay to have it fixed.
Where did you get your prop? Im having a hell of a time finding a prop for a 3mm shaft. I put a seaking 4800 kv motor in mine with a 2s lipo pack. the stock prop has too much rrsistance, the boat wants to torque roll under heavy throttle. I figure a smaller prop, metal preferably. But i cant find any. Just 1/8 shaft props
Yes sir ¹/8 props work perfectly. 427 octura or 430 octura from offshoreelectrics.com. once you put the ¹/8 prop on the shaft, drive dog, & nut it centers itself pretty well
You can make one fairly easy. Watch this video, different boat but the motor mount is very similar th-cam.com/video/9egBIRYcfTg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hlLbiWK5bZ6W9i0N

About to build my 17” Miss Geico also. These videos are a great source of information.
This was so freaking helpful. I just ordered a 2440 and a 30amp esc for my little Miss Geico. Time to break out the dremel.
I highly recommend an octura 427 prop anything larger just flips the boat under acceleration
@@IRONCLADRC Awesome, I'll get that, thanks again!

You'll love it brushless, flex cable is a must!
The way you talk makes it more entertaining! Awesome upgrade! Just sub
I used to use the thinnest sheet of plastic and glue them onto the surface to sharpen the edges and trailing edges.lot of work but comes out great.
I thought about using plastic but didn't have any I found best suited for the project
