    NOTE: Blueprinting a boat is the last resort for more speed or better performance, the process is long and hard, please keep this in mind if you're contemplating Blueprinting a boat. You can ruin or improve any certain boats handling and decrease the resale value once the bottom has been modified

    Would you advise to tweak the boat out with props electronics CG tabs hardware etc first and as the very last speed mod,blue print the bottom?Great video by the way. Thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciate all the work you put in on your videos. Not an easy task. Learning heaps. 👍👍

      Yes, absolutely. Blueprinting is sometimes a last resort to get any particular model running right. Some guys Blueprint before the boat hits the water.

      I'm gonna be reinforcing my ul19 with carbonfiber after Christmas, hopefully before the new year.
      I have a veles 29 sponson reinforcement video in my veles 29 playlist

    I'm going to attempt it on my Geico 29. Just want to check something with you. I see you have about the rear third of the ride pads making contact. Is that correct

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yea basically, the less surface in contact with the water the faster the boat will go. You can go less than 1/3

    Nice job, Big B! That's a lot of tedious work. Just a note, when sanding fiberglass or especially carbon fiber, wear a mask. Those little fibers ain't good on the lungs.

  • @sjorswouda6865
    @sjorswouda6865 ปีที่แล้ว

    Best boat vid ever. By far. I don't agree: to me it is the first step you do to your hull. All further mods rely on the blue printing. Otherwise you'll be fighting the boat forever. (and twin motor / prop set up of course)
    And I would like to see this hull tie as big.......

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree 100% I had my veles 29 blueprinted within the first 2 weeks of owning the boat lol. The ride surface is the mostly important part of a boat build

      Just looked it up yea that should work just fine. If it's like marine-tex it should be perfect & half the cost

    the biggest problem i have with the one i upgraded is i put to big of a rudder on mine , blocking some of the thrust from the thrust cone, i run mine on 3s- 4s with a 32mm prop, but the rudder is holding it back some. its runs fast enough that it will do a perfect kick flip and keep going

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's why I blueprinted this boat, my boat would do the same thing with a big prop.. exactly what yours does "kickflips at speed lol. I'm working on a motor mount right now I cut everything out the inside of mine gonna run the batteries in the sponsons c'mon.

      @@IRONCLADRC i feel ya man, they do ride low in general even when up on plane. ive never had much luck with saw run high speeds on tunnel hulls or catamarans. they always seem to go airborne. i even tried a rear turn fin. similar to the tenshock or mini dom. mine seems to stick better on left hand turns, withe the batteries down in the left sponson. i might go a little bigger with like a 60a or maybe even a 80s. i have a few of those G2 sharks laying around, as i usually just use those 40s on these size boats. i think its kinda hard to beat a stepped or simple v hull as its just less prone to lift up . frozen till spring now for most of us unfortunately.

      80 for the initial sanding then I go to 220 or 500 for the final sanding

    I guessing this is a good thing to use if one was racing for cash or in a professional setting. I have 4 new M41's I don't think I will be doing this, lol. I have not see a big difference in the floating or driving adjustments or improvements in the handling of any boat that got this work done. I have seen this done several times on youtube and other platforms.

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's done right you'll see an improvement, Trust me. Im not telling guys to break out the epoxy and sand paper and just go to town on there boats cause I'm definitely not.. this is a last resort type modification.. the geico 17 is or should I say was a toy TOY boat that got 5 mph top speed out the box.

    Curious to see if she'll stay in the water at speeds exceeding 50 mph. Monos definitely have more water contact than cats, but that's what makes them so stable. Sometimes being ultra efficient works against you. Can't wait to see if you can dethrone the mini mono's 50 mph top speed. More so, I'd like to see a comparison between the Oximarine Mini Dom and Aquacraft Mini Mono. I think you'd be surprised to find that your optimized Mini Mono is actually much more stable thus easier to drive fast. I used to race these small boats at a local collage Olympic pool and I was able to beat guys with Tenshock Mini Scords (same as the Mini Dom) time and time again with your Mini Mono. Nothing against the Mini Dom; I have a Tenshock Mini Mono and absolutely love the thing. Boatgang!

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've gotta fix a Crack in the mini mono, she's all busted up at the moment, I actually have 2 aquacraft mini monos, the one you gave me has a thicker hull than the one I purchased. The one I got is stripped down all the holes are filled she's basically ready for the mold making process, just gotta find the time we'll motivation to Start the fiberglass lay up..
      Personally I think the mg17 will hit 50 plus, may not do it on the first outing but she'll do it I've got faith in that little boat now. Fingers crossed 🤞

    Hi from France !
    I have a big question : I see you blue-print catamarans but does it make any sense to blue-print monohulls ?
    If not what can I do on my hulls to improve speed on a monohull ?
    Thanks for your fantastic videos !

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Any boat can be blueprinted but only if it needs it most boats don't need to be blueprinted but if your hull has dips and hooks in the bottom it may be worth the trouble. I've never blueprinted a mono only a catamarans and hydroplanes.
      I helped my father blueprint a 1:1 Alison race boat (mono) when I was a teenager we didn't add fiberglass or anything like that we just Sanded the bottom flatter basically knocked down the high spots in the hull

  • @matthewwilken2051
    @matthewwilken2051 ปีที่แล้ว

    blue printing the hulls is about the only modification i have not attempted on any of my boats. i do use air dirupters on hydroplanes example, ul1 or small bolt style hulls to keep them from going airborne as easy. im curious to see the difference on that little geico when its in the water. im going to try a 60a- 80a esc on mine in the spring
