  • Hi guys. I am still looking for small and portable music setup that is sounding good and let you make some nice music. I am wondering if AKAI mini play with some effects and drums from Yamaha FGDP-30 does the job? Let me know in comments what do you think.
Sample Pack from this jam and this Loopy Pro layout you can download from:

Excellent love it. Can you explain your setup? Is it just the three linked together? I would like to try same thing

Yes. They are connected together with Rode Ai Micro audio interface for iPhone

It has 128 internal GM Sounds

Given that the Akai has drum pads on it, just using that would be more minimal, right? Are the sounds not good enough?

Drum sounds from Akai have reverb pre-recorded. For me it can be used for LO-fi music with lot of hi-end filtering. Not usable in this case.

Very good song. The sound of both the AKAI and the Yamaha are very attractive. Of course, the whole setup is less minimalistic than that you showed on your video #63 (great one really). I would like to know if I am interpreting the wiring correctly: 1) the AKAI is connected to the input of the Yamaha; 2) the Yamaha is connected to the input of the Rode AI-1; and 3) the output of the AI-1 goes to your monitor. Well, my question (not a great question, I know) would be: what is recording all these stuff? A set of microphones or just one, which brand and so on. This is just because the output is really nice. Thank you very much!

Hey, yes, you are partially right in therms of my setup in those episode. Rode AI-micro is connected via Lightning cable to my iPhone. There is also headphones out from Rode that I have connected headphones to. So I hear signal that is coming back from loopy and my devices. The magic of stereo recording is done by Loopy Pro. You can record whole session without metronome recorded, with effects loops on / off, live. I could use for this iPhone screen recording also, but then it would contain metronome click also. Hope this helps

Hey thanks a lot. I think I understood. Everything was right, but what we are hearing is the iPhone/Loopy Pro record itself. it was all so simple but I missed the point. Again, thanks and great job!

amazing jam session. i have an akai mini play and as portable setup i use the zoom h4n, with the overdub feature, I use android but I might get again an old iPhone only because loopy pro and its flexibility,

I recommend to get even old iPhone for Loopy Pro. It is very powerful and not really CPU consuming.

Lovely, and with such a minimalistic setup. What interface connect the iPhone?
