@@straightsideways4834 look up the weight difference in the engines. It’s not that much.
@@straightsideways4834 if it’s an aluminum block with a t56/tr6060 it’s about 20-30 more pounds than an N54 manual car

Wow, you got me daydreaming about finding an M3 with a blown motor and doing some sort of turbo LS swap... thatd be insane, you make it look so easy! I've got a 2011 328i that ive replaced the engine in (replaced blown N52 with a junkyard N52) so i know my way around the e9x like kinda decently. Such a solid platform! Great videos, very educational, thank you.
Go for it! So many guys have completed this swap in the driveway or garage with minimal issues.

also. for terminator x max, if im going from auto to manual do i need to buy the transmission option for x max? without the transmission options you save a few hundred so im wondering if manual swap will involve having to spend more for a transmission optioned x max.???????

I love these cars. Drove an 06 BMW 325i for a year and want another. They're cheap, so if I could buy one and then get an LS Swap, that would be sick. I love V8's too so I'd get the best of both worlds

what did you mean by the windshield wiper issue? I just bought a manual swapped Z4 and the auto harness is still in there. is there something I should terminate together to get my windshield wipers working correctly?

With the Camaro t56 is the stock location for the shifter ok or can it be relocated to the front
I have a 2011 335i I tried finding the wiring on newtis. Looking at ordering you kit and doing it to my car. The motor just blew up in mine.
You should film the process if you do. I have a 335 as well, I probably would never LS swap it, but buying a cheap 3 series and making a drag/street car would be really fun. For my 335, I've always wanted to M series motor swap with a supercharger, I think it would make a great combo.
E85Johnson I plan on trying to filming it. I was thinking about buy a built n55 for my car but and LS motor can hold more power than a n55 block can. The most anybody has really got out of an n55 was around 900whp and that is not going to last long.

How did Franks motor do on the factory BMW fuel system while NA? I wont be boosting mine and should only be around the 450 hp range. Just looking at some cost cutting if possible. Would a 335 pump system be a sure thing for plug n play if I have to bump it up?
It was fired up on the stock pump but never driven hard on it, he swapped in the radium setup with a single 450, when he went turbo he wired the second pump.

I've done a few LS swaps now but never a BMW, going to LS swap my wife's 06 bmw 325xi and Ill be ditching the AWD system and converting to rwd only with the swap but my question is would the mounts from the video work on a XI or will I need XI specific mounts?

Not really, but a 325/330 will have better suspension and brakes stock

Any of you watching installed the 4L80? I’m assuming the shifter solenoid that allows you to put the car in gear would need a 12 V signal from the brake switch? Is the shift solenoid wire found in the DME box? I haven’t purchased a subscription to new tis yet. I figured somebody watching has done this.

No it is not.
we highly encourage ppl not to use a stock GM harness. Everything is based around a Holley Efi

I know I didn’t hear anything about it in the videos or maybe you just forgot to mention, did y’all have to cut/ shave the firewall or the transmission wall?
With the T56 or TR6060 you don’t have to, if you run a 4l80 you’ll need to do some cutting or hammer some clearance into the tunnel mainly for the connector on the trans. So far with the glide it looks like minor massaging so that we have more room for the linkage connection.

Which terminator did you get was looking on holleys website and there was like 6 to choose from?
It depends on which LS you start with, which injectors you are using, and if you need DBW or Transmission controls.
Would those engine mounts work if the base car is a manual 6 cylinder diesel (which has a very strong gearbox afaik) and the LS is mated to the original gearbox with an adapter kit (running on a standalone ofc)? I doubt it but hope dies last. Also, I understand that if I run the car on 2 ecus I can keep the standard features of the car (air conditioning and stuff), is that right? Thanks!
The simplicity of a full gm drivetrain is a lot of the benefit of this swap. You can check on real oem to see if the subframe is the same and compatible with the mounts.

You should remove it and use the bmw DBW pedal and a Holley lol.
Is this possible using a stock gen 3 harness without having to purchase a terminator setup .
If you build a manual pedal or make stock dbw stuff work, buy a pwm module for making the bmw fan work. Terminator is 100% worth the additional cost.

You disassemble the axles and leave the stubs in the spindle. Mike sells xdrive specific mounts.

We tell everyone to expect around 10-15k in parts and labor depending on engine and trans selection, we are currently doing a E91 wagon with a 6.2 LS3 and T56 that is coming in around $16,500 total.
How come you used a 6 pin TB and not an 8 pin…. Like if i was going to use a factory 8 pin one?

Gen 5 starter is basically the same as the short LS starter and will clear fine. They are interchangeable

we have, its much more cramped in the engine bay, also there are a lot more hydraulic/power steering and abs lines to worry about.

Basic swap cost is around $5500 in labor.
Can you use a Speeduino instead of Holley?
All of the support and products Mike offers is based off the Holley system, sure you can use other systems but there will be no support on our end, you’ll need to be knowledgable enough to work through it.
Does this swap work for an E9x M3? Might consider doing that in the future.
i want to know this too. I would get a cheap 320d E92 and then swap. id miss the M3 grills and all that stuff but that can be done afterwards. No point buying an M3 and then swapping the s65 to ls1...
Motor mounts are different. I've done the swap in my E90 M3 and there is a lot more factory wiring, but the wires that matter are still there and the same color as the nonM cars.
Rally Road I’ve searched for an M3 LS swap kit but I didn’t find one. I’m not a fabricator so I would need a kit to do it. What did you use with the E90 M3?
@@mr.k1896 I made my own swap parts, but you can buy the LSE90.com transmission mount. Buy everything you can from there...it will save a lot of time and hassle. I loaned my fabricated motor mount arms to someone who made a fixture. I can ask if he has made any production parts. The E9X M3 to LS swap is a lot smaller market, but overall it's a better chassis to start with since it has a better differential, etc.

What is the cost to hsve this done? I don't hsve the tools or the garage to do it but been considering having it done. What kind of budget is realistic?
A rough figure is 10-12k for the cheapest swap.
We charge around $5500-6000 labor to swap one complete with working a/c, gauges, etc. Parts wise expect to spend another $6000 or so depending on what you want for an engine, transmission, exhaust, any cam or intake you’d like, etc.

Mike has X drive motor mounts and trans mounts, you Just lose the AWD. Currently there is no way to keep it with the LS. So you can either swap k members to a 2wd setup or keep the x drive k member, and just delete all the awd components.

Hey I’m kinda new but where did the Ls come out of is it a ls1?
This was a 6.0 truck engine. Any 99-13 gmc truck engine works, 98-02 camaro/trans am, C5 vette engine, C6 vette engine, etc.

Yes we do, either stock with our adapter and a sonax companion flange or swap to an 8.8
