      I have not had the opportunity to take this to our tuner (Hoffer Performance). That said Yosh is a stand up company so I would trust what they have found. When I rode the bike the last time I absolutely noticed improved performance. - Van

    I have the yoshi box installed. Even for track weekends its a pain to service every 7 hours. Im going to switch with carbon smith air filter pods instead for easier service.

      I have not seen the Carbon Smith version but will take a look. This one is more challenging to service for sure. - Van

    Sounds like a fairly heavy install. I imagine it would've taken a long time to film a full install video. Any chance you'll be at Grattan on the 22nd or 23rd with STT? I'm riding both days. First track days ever, can't wait!

    Hello Van , Ive been following your videos I have a question about the yoshimura airbox is it easy to service the filter also would it be compatible with sc project crt exhaust i have on my 2024 R7? I plan to de restrict the bike to a stage 2 any recommendations regarding tuning or in general would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks James

      To service the filter you have to pull the box, clean the filter then reoil. I would not do this mod on a street bike. - Van

    New to riding and the components in bikes, when replacing the airbox kit do I still need to replace the air filter as well?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a track only mod which will require more maintenance than a traditional air filter. I would not use this on the street. - Van

    Hey van! the gain numbers you mentioned, is this with just the airbox or is this including aftermarket exhaust?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yosh claims the 8.5% hp power gain is due to the airbox only. I could for sure feel the difference when I rode it. $499 well spent IMO. - Van

    Removing the shock to get to the airbox? Wow. That's a deal-breaker for a DIYes like me but with very limited tools and resources. But anyway, the R7 is a great bike for what it is from factory. I still say that the R7 is an awesome track bike that you can ride to the track and the R7 is also a great road bike you can have fun with on the track. That airbox access is just ridiculous though.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be fair you might be able to get it out with the sock in place with some force. The OEM shock is also a little smaller than the K-Tech we are running. For sure this is a track only mod. - Van

    • @chrislocke7547
      @chrislocke7547 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I removed mine by taking a Sawzall and cutting it in half. I didn't want to mess with removing the throttle bodies or the entire rear of the bike. Obviously you destroy the stock airbox but you can get by with "minimal" disassembly.

    My FZ-07 is running Hot at Highway Speeds on Hot days.. Is there a Practical larger radiator for it? The MT-09 Radiators appear to be a lot larger ..

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I did not have any cooling issues with the R7 at a 90 degree plus track weekend. That said I am also not aware of a larger radiator kit for this bike that is readily available and will work with the stock bodywork. Not sure what your temps have been but there is a difference between running what seems to be hot and overheating. I don't think the fans come on until the motor hits 220 degrees (mine is no longer on the bike as it is track only now). Normal operating in the summer temps of 170-195 are normal while riding. - Van

      @@sportbiketrackgear My fan does not kick in until 222 or 223 .. I need to flash it to kick in at a lower temp. .. It was running 195-F on the Highway .. in cooler weather it never goes over 180-F that is what the Thermostat is designed for.
      I was running way hotter than that at Tail of the Dragon as you are running hard in second and third gear thus not getting good air flow.
      I have a fiberglass window Screen over a metal screen to protect the radiator from stones ect. I am sure the window screen reduces flow some.
      I had the radiator shrouds off after I hit a deer and the heat not deflected made the bike as hot to ride as my air cooled Buell is..
      Once I put all the body panels back on .. they deflect heat away from the riders legs..
      When your engine gets hot the ECM is going to pull timing and you will lose power..
      My bike still has stock fueling which is very lean which will make it run hotter too .

    Hi,
    I am from Australia and we have the LAMS version which is restricted. That being said, I am going to tune it and thinking of adding this before I do. I have the Yoshimura R-77 FS exhaust and removed the restricted throttle plate. With all that, would I also gain that same amount of increase in HP? I hope someone reading this can answer what the maximum HP a LAMS version (learner approved motorcycle scheme) ONLY IN AUSTRALIA can tell me is? Thank you in advance

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am not familiar with the AU version of the bike you are riding. That said I would still expect a similar gain with this airbox install. This airbox is a track only part and not something I would use on a street bike. It does not have enough filtration to handle street duty. - Van

      @MrHardbodies 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sportbiketrackgear Thank you for your feedback! I’ve watched many of your videos and followed heaps. I might stick with a DNA pod filter. I’m thinking that eliminating OEM box is a good idea since it restricts a lot of air.
