I got an R7 after having a ninja 400 for a month and the extra torque is definitely noticeable and having the huge back tire makes highway speeds feel more stable. Cornering also felt amazing and intuitive in the more aggressive sitting position compared to the ninja. @@Elias_g1having something you can rev out like that is actually a lot of fun. Reminds me of the GT86/FRS/BRZ, great fun little cars that you can fully rev out and use all 10/10 of the car on the road. I had a 2016 FRS and it’s been my favorite car, and I’ve owned over 30 new cars. My 750i which I have delimited, get me to jail speed in 5 seconds. So definitely see the point of having something to rev out and fully learn to enjoy. Also I doubt you’ll be as quick to dump it for something more powerful. I really think this bike is what a lot of 30 year old new riders are looking for.
@@JamesCook76131I really love your take on this. Personally its still a tough choice between the two. I love the high revving character of an inline 4, similar to something like a K20A or a K24. But im always reminded of how fun torque can be and since i have a RAM V8, and how addictive it can get, not to mention the convenience of having instant torque at low rpms in dire situations. Its a pretty tough choice
@@dancinglizard3080for sure, I have a 250cc inline four and used to have a 1000cc vtwin and they both put a smile (grin) on my face all the time. On the 250 when its screaming at 18000rpm is just so fun but you're still within speed limits. Where as the big twin, oh man, the low end punch is just so brutal haha gets your heart and adrenaline pumping.
Long time watcher first time commenter. The reason why I am picking the ZX-4RR over anything else right now is because of how unique it is. I like engineering, I like unique things, I love outlier cases that were above everything else in a class. I remember stumbling onto the 90's 4 cylinder 250 from kawi and seeing videos on it, the history, track record, etc and falling in love with it. When I found out they were doing another one, got super hyped, then disappointed when it was only in I think Malaysia release (for emissions reasons). When I got wind of this 400cc for global release I got excited again to have a bike in that category. I have a lot of experience in a lot of other worlds and am usually the go to guy my friends seek out when they are making a first purchase and I use a concept of "because I can land" whenever I can't talk someone out of a bad purchase. Everyone wants to be in "because I can land" you don't have to worry about cost, sensibility, better options, more affordable options, the wife yelling at you, etc you just get the thing. Sometimes you just really want it not because it makes sense but because you can. The moment I realize that we are in "because I can land" it's hands off the "ground them in reality" arguments and "alright, lets go shopping" and I wish more people would understand that. At the end of the day I am trying to help my friends make an informed decision and I don't control their money, I understand and appreciate the content space. You exist to help people make the most informed decision they possibly can but everyone outside of that space would just accept that people are gonna spend the money on what they like and not get so mad that someone else's purchase doesn't make sense to them.
Oh they are a thing of beauty and uniquness. Also shows what the brand is willing to do, to take a different approach with all the strict emissions law, cost, RnD and if its profitable. If its something you'd like I say go for it, they do usually cost a bit more but that's just how it is with the extra cylinders and to cover the cost of research. I used to have a CB400 and it was such a good all rounder bike. 400cc inline four, you'd think it would lack torque but there's plenty there to use and a smooth running engine. Sounds nicer than your typical ptwin except them cp2 haha they're barky af I love that.
I chose and own a ZX4RR (apparently the first in Australia was a fun brag for a small window of time), replacing my Ninja 400 as a daily, Australian delivered bikes are the full 78 or so HP, The Ninja 400 was a brilliant bike , I wanted something similar yet more in every area as a daily, the R7 was to aggressive of a riding position comparatively for my liking aaaaand quite a few years old at this point, I didn't want to buy something that at a guess was due to be updated at any moment. plus the absurdity of the noise that comes from the ZX4RR on song at speeds that won't immediately have you go straight to jail is addictive. We live in brilliant times, no matter if you choose from team green or blue you're going to have a great time.
@ElementTicTacToe i was thinking R3 when typed that i think, even the R7 is probably halfway through its run now though at a guess. All sick bikes though, if probably own an R7 is the ZX4RR didn't exist.
I'm in South Australia took delivery mine 8th August was after something lighter and more friendly than my vfr 800 sports tourer. I had looked at R7 but riding position too aggressive for everyday use comfortably and it seemed like a bike with a pile off bits bolted to it and it has the engine we need not what we want. The ZX4RR is very integrated everything things fits perfectly, much better finish than the yamaha and higher level off kit. I had to buy without a ride, that was scary, $14,800 ride away. The ride home 80 Km freeway and city traffic filtering then freeway. Wow so much fun, so light so stable what a sound. Just made 1,230km first service today $357 So happy with my buy its a stunning motorcycle
@5125darkwater yesssssss, he gets it. This things are wicked good. I also had to buy no test ride. I had a ninja 400, similar riding position, & this thing is sooooooo good.
@5125darkwater how are you enjoying the bike and who do you buy from? I'm in south Australia also and currently saving ti buy one. I've had litre bikes and 600,s I just want something I can have fun without doing 200kph +
😊 Riding after 50 years. I have a 2022 Spyder F3 T. I have bought two wheeled bikes in the last two years. I didn’t feel safe and I bought a Spyder and I’m just enjoying it. I’m 71 years old and smiling a lot.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I went with the zx4rr. I love it. Years back, I had a gsx-r 600, then graduated to gsx-r 1000. Afterward I bought a cruiser. Love my cruiser but had the ich to get back on a supersport. We all know, you can’t use the power of a 600 on the street. So the zx4rr was the obvious choice for me, not just cause of the sound, but because of the useabilty of the power and it revs to 16k! In terms of price, you’re still around about $11k out the door for either one, so at that point it was more about the experience. I will get an r7 at some point though
I'd 100% pick the ZX4RR, I've seen and ridden R7's they just seem cheap, and they just don't sound as nice, regardless of 'power' its not a super sport or a 1000cc so you cant really rank the 2 bikes as a 'performance' bikes, I had a ZX2R 250cc 20k/rpm which had tuned carbs to a similar power as the ZX4rr, I'm surprised he didnt mention any remapping figures for the ZX4RR as well... another thing I noticed when I looked at a R7 is that the seats are cheap just foam with a wrap over it... prone to ripping or soaking in water if it gets wet.. me being 6'4" the R7 was not comfortable at all to sit on, where the ZX is a nice leather. I personally ride a 2022 CBR650R not too aggressive, decent power for everyday riding and has 'enough basic features to stay safe and have fun (stability control, traction control and a adjustable rear shock adjustable foot pegs and optional quick shift addons)
@@publicplans5696 depending on the country the difference is $1600 a year on insurance vs $900 but yeah in terms of 'performance' for the cc rating you're better off going for a r6 or a zx6 comparing the r7 and zx400rr is pointless the only thing in common is the price point and 2 wheels.
I think the R7 is going to be my next bike for sure. I've been riding my FZ07 for just over a year and I couldn't be happier with it. The amount of torque and accessible power you get at literally any rpm in any gear is just insane. And the sound, man, the sound of this engine is so nice. 👌
🤩 Sharing your experiences as you push bikes on real roads, with your clear and insightful reflections, is such a pleasure! Thanks for your high quality content 🙏
I picked my ZX4RR because of that screaming inline 4! Easy pick over the trend of parallel twins that dominate the bike market these days. It’s my first bike too so plenty of room to grow on this platform before I step up to a liter bike.
I went with a 2024 black ZX4RR. I loved what the bike was for but did not want or like the KRT version. I've been riding for a lil less than a year and will share that a bike selection is an emotional one. It has to speak to you! My 1st bike that I still own and bought June 2023 is a Ninja 400. A few months later I added my 2024 Robotic White ZX6R.... and now my new ZX4RR. The US version bike is horribly neutered but a tune, headers/exhaust and DNA air filter literally transforms it into a whole nother animal! Each of my bikes have very VERY different riding styles. The N400 Is extremely tossable and forgiving while great fun to ride, the ZX4RR is a banshee with that tiny inline 4 that begs you to caress her, wring her out, and the ZX6R... well you gotta understand the term "don't ride faster than your guardian angel can fly". All of my bikes are full bolt ons and tuned because it's just how I like it. I leave nothing stop more than a few hours of bringing it home. Seriously. Anyway I wouldn't have bought anything over the ZX4RR as I too like unique things. Besides... did I share just how addicting an inline 4 sound is??? Whatever you bring home, enjoy the ride. Ride often & ride safe. Ride what speaks to you!
R7 is my first bike and I absolutely love it a year and a half later. Definitely getting to the point where I'm looking for a bit more power here and there. But still an absolute blast to ride.
I like the r7. It’s just a much cleaner and nicer looking bike. I hate these bikes with graphics covering them everywhere. It doesn’t look good to me. I actually almost got an r7 a few months ago but ended up with a Ktm instead. The zx4rr I’m sure is great, but I’d have to remove al those graphics and get a paint job lol
Bought a grom as my first bike. Rode it a lot for few months then wanted a real bike. Got a 1 owner 60th anniversary R7 with 34 miles. Had it for about 3 weeks and put on 1200 miles. Love the bike. Have my m4 exhaust and power commander coming tomorrow
I was going to say, toss the Aprilia RS660 into this comparison. But then I realize it's about $1900 more expensive than the ZX-4RR, at $11,499. I've seen the Yamaha CP2 engine tuned to around 88 wheel horsepower and 53 ft-lb. But that's a lot of work. It's full exhaust, it's airbox removal (Hordpower intake kit), it's high comp pistons, porting, intake cam, ECU flash. But I would say it's a mild workover, nothing entirely crazy or unreliable. I think it's my favorite class of "racing bikes", the 650-690 twins class that's had a good amount of work done to them. They sound cool, they have solid power, they can move out quickly to at least 135-140 mph tops. They tend to be more serious than the 400cc class, but not the craziness of a 600cc supersport.
grandpa and dad rode kawasaki. my first bike was a ‘10 ninja 250r, got stolen. years later, got a z125 to scratch the motorcycle itch and it was great until i needed more. rode down to the dealer to check out the z650 to keep it team green. a couple hours later i rode out on the r7. as soon as i sat on it, i knew i was gonna get it. the fit was perfect for me.
Thank you yammie, I use to ride dirt bikes as a kids and got a crf450r as a project this past year sold the poor girl and am looking to move to towards super sports. You just sold me on the r7. Thank you papi yam!
As a shorter guy (5' 7") anything over 31" seat height makes me a little intimidated. I absolutely love the look and sound of that R7... but from what I've seen, after the ECU flash, that ZX4RR is an enthusiasts dream! And I love the idea of the more relaxed seating position because %99 of my riding is around town, commuting to work and some twisty rural roads.
Had a ZX4RR for almost 2 months and put over 60 hours on it close to 2k miles. Went through the wreck of getting into an accident on it and unfortunately ruined it and spent a month in the hospital (still here, hopefully a week left) The one thing I regret is losing my ability overall, but the big thing is losing my fantastic bike and culture and I can’t just get both back when I’m out and back in shape
@@serbbrb_7891 I ran a stop sign that was covered by a tree, you couldn’t see it until you were like 10 feet away from it, once I saw it I hit the break and got slammed on the left, doing pretty good rn, but still recovering from the TBI for the next could years doctors said
Would have preferred Yamaha would have just tuned dowen the R6 slightly and make it more ergonomical. I drive a CBR 600F (tuned dowen version of the CBR 600RR) and just love the 4 cilinder vibe. Power is only 15bhp less and torque 2.5 Nm, but both at lower RPM. Still more than enough power to have fun without breaking your back. Shame Honda discontinued this bike in favour of lower bhp version to be tuned down for the European A2 drivers license. Would surely love to try the RS 660in the future.
Love my f4i it’s a rocket coming from a z400 but feel I missed out on an fz6 didn’t realize they make full fairing kits for them and way cozier. Seems like there’s no fully faired 4cyl sport bikes that are cozy anymore, just p twins and supersports :( unless you like that new 650r but I hear the clutch is way too light, people say it’s the modern f4 with the riding position a bit heavier though
Here in the middle of Canada (Manitoba), with identical insurance for both bikes, the R7 is $2418.00, the ZX4RR is $1747. Even though both are insured for the same value, and fall into the same class, there is a big discount for being under 500CC.
Yes, very expensive. That is the base price. If you have a perfect driving record you accumulate "credits" over the years. I think right now my price on those bikes would be discounted 33%. Still expensive considering that you have to pay that full price in the first 4 months, and we only have a 6-7 month riding season.
How much nearly 1,745 dollars for cover on a 400 that's insane they ain't playing in Canada thought insurance was bad in UK but that's under 400 quid ere !GATE13SW6CREW cfc
Fair enough but i wouldn't spend 1700 to insure a 400 just like inwouldn't spend 10 grand on a 400 to begin with. You've already made a bad financial decision imo so screw it. And they may be in the same class price wise and hp wise... But a 400 and a 700 aren't the same class. I will admit i thought and inline 4 would be more expensive to insure than a twin in general. I wonder which is more expwnsive to maintain
I’m in Alberta, got a 22’ cbr650r (new) and had to get insurance to be able to get my bike license. At 28, clean record but no histories riding bikes I got full coverage for $400/yr Definitely worth shopping around as got a $1500 quote at first then some in between. On my 23 GLI I only pay $1600 / yr as well . If you have lots of tickets, accidents etc not much you can do
I think being the slowest person in traffic ultimately makes you a better rider when you move up to a bigger bike because you’re trained to be hyper aware of everyone around you when you can’t outrun them on a grom lol
If you wanted to get into track days and racing, I'm thinking the R7 would probably be the better choice. Besides the greater availability of mods, there are (I think...Yam, you might know more though) more Twins Cup-style races for the R7 than the ZX4. That being said, for just pure fun, screaming around is always nice on the track too ;)
Funny, I think for someone getting into track days the zx4 is the better choice. Tracks are about corner speed and corner entry/exit speeds when you don't have an excess of power, which the zx400 will be much superior to the R7 with some simple mods. It's a bit like comparing 250 2strokes (high revving) to 400 4strokes where the 250s would dominate. Now were comparing 400 4 cylinders (high revving) against 700 2 cylinders. It becomes more a question of bike weight than outright power and delivery.
@@stevecade857Oof. You clearly don't understand what's going on here. The R7 has larger wheels and tires giving it more available traction for corner speed. It also has A LOT more torque that is going to allow it to pull much much stronger out of corners. Rider skills being equal, the R7 will thoroughly dominate a 4rr on the track. The 4rr has no advantage. Anywhere. On the track, the R7 is in another class and not even a fair comparison.
I hear you but the ZX4 offers nothing but a ride to the dealer to trade it on any bike that can make you happier…no one should be happy about a welded subframe…
I'm keen on the R7 as my first bike. With the big asterisk of it being a LAMS (low output) model, due to the license laws here in Australia. I don't see it as a bad thing though, the simplicity and twisties fun of the R7, without the extra risk of the power, since I am an 18yr old dude, and shouldn't have quite that much power Lul
Hi Yammy.Have you thought about the old ZRX400 from many moons ago?.Stunning little bike.OK it's maybe over 30 years old but worth it.Grab one and give it a bash.
“no thrills Motor cycle” is crazy, for any bike lol. 0-60 on the r7 is almost 3 seconds flat, idk I’d say gaping r6s from a stop light is pretty thrilling lol 😂
I like the CP2 engine but for me revs will always beat torque. My GSXR400 race bike has nothing below 10k and will rev to 16k. It’s like a two stroke with cams.
Nice meeting you man. Thanks for letting me ride with ya. Mike appreciates you doing the review on his bike. If you want to do a review on my rocket or hayabusa let me know
R7's feel cheap right? the seat and positioning on them is definitely not for the taller folk. Also for the 'seating style' I wouldnt want a parallel twin, It confuses me personally the audio and feel hahaha, You're seated like you're on a nice straight 4 with the acoustics of a adventure style bike. I'd just get a MT07 and pick a different bike altogether for a 'sport'.
Hey Yami I got a question that factors into my decision, currently no other company is making a small bore inline 4 and it stays that way a zx4rr is going to become something of that like a unicorn, think when the first grom came out. Would the ZX4RR be a collectors item in 20 years? What bike is going to age better with time
For collection? Zx4rr because i know that bike is gonna be rare someday, its a niche item so demand is pretty low. But which bike is gonna age better? Well in my point of view it'll be the r7 because of parts availability. I have collected rare bikes and cars and the one problem that pains me the most is parts. I'd like to enjoy them a bit more but i am always worried that i might break something and it'll be a pain in the ass to find parts. R7 shares an engine with 3 other models so parts are gonna be abundant. The thing that made toyota corolla so successful even till this day is parts availability. You can still find parts for a 90's corolla. Hell a friend of mine still dailies his 91 with almost a million miles.
I'll take the Kawi and save $1,000/year or more in insurance (in my jurisdiction where bikes are categorized by displacement only for insurance purposes). Money that I can use to go out and actually enjoy the thing (or buy frarkles).
Actually I just bought a ZX4RR. It will be delivered October 9. Of course I tought about the R7.. in my contry, the R7 costs almost 10k euros and the ZX 10300 euros. Almost the same. They both are a bit expensive for what they offer. But I think the Kawasaki gives you more for the money. And it is more premium. And if you guys love in line 4 600cc or 1000cc bikes, like the ZX6R or the ZX10R, if you love those you gotta love the ZX4RR. Because its the same concept, but smaller cc and less dangerous. And more confortable. To me it was an obvious choice.
I am 31 y.o. And would be a returning rider. Just because of my not tall self ( long live short kings ) I’d lean more to the zx4 because of the lower seat height ( might be able to flat foot that ) yet, I love Yamaha, my first and last bike was a Yamaha, the closest dealership to my house is Yamaha so the battle between practicality and “comfort” is real
Not having ridden either, and just going off of looks and sound, I would prefer the Kawasaki. I like the higher pitched sound better over the low rumble. However, I wish they didn’t splash those graphics all over the bike. I remember when the 250 was redesigned, they came in just plain green with no graphics other than a Kawasaki logo. They looked great. That and get rid of the rear fender and the stock pipe for a decent slip on. That would be my dream bike right now. Maybe in a year or two the price will come down towards the MSRP.
I would take the ZX4RR with flash only. There's something so beautiful about a bike with a 16k redline that you can actually rev up there on the street.
just ordered a black zx4rr last week the reason i chose the zx or the r7 was bc the height i was able to flat foot the zx over the r7 and ive always loved kawi but the main reason that got me to go zx was bc the engines i absolutely love the sound of inline 4s i dont really enjoy the sound of the twin from the r7 so i got my favorite brand (kawi) a solid beginner bike and a inline 4 all the things i wanted when getting into the sport of riding
It fits in Asia with restrictive taxes on larger motorcycles. Without being rude to North Americans, the bike isn't made for the US, it's made for countries like Thailand that have a growing middle class who can now afford to pay more but still can't afford a 1000cc yet due to insane taxes and their general wealth being lower than western countries
For anybody who is going to hold onto them it's really a no brainer as special engines make cars and motorcycles classics. Thr ZX4RR will age very well and be revered.
I’m getting both 😂🙌🏽🙌🏽. My first bike gonna be the ZX4RR then imma learn on it; then imma unlock it with a full system exhaust and a tune; then imma get the R7 as my second bike then 18 other bikes for my dream bike collection 😭🔥.
10:45 literally described me 20 years old got my R7 2 months ago first bike lol i think if i would've gotten anything bigger like a 600 i would've hurt myself already 😂
I actually just made this choice myself two weeks ago. R7 or the ZX4RR. I ended up choosing the ZX4RR, It just felt more comfortable as and I like the screaming inline 4...sounds amazing, feels amazing!
also looking at the suzuki sv 650 abs the gsxr 600 or 750 and the kawasaki zx6r. some of these might be second bike but I am 37 so I am not super young I do want to go to a track eventually
I would suggest looking into a newer 2022 cbr650r, they have a nice base and most of the features of a RS660 and have a similar power with cheap repairs and lots of aftermarket bits and bobs, They're a little cheaper than the RS660 and are a straight 4 so sound great. I say this as I looked at a R7 and a cbr650r and walked off the showroom floor with a cbr650r, the seating isn't too aggressive, you have optional quickshifter, traction control and a nice black leather with red stitched seats. Where as the R7 just felt cheaper, and wasnt too comfy to sit on (me being taller) as well as it just feeling like... how do i put it... like when you have a car key thats light with a remote unlock vs a nice similar sized one with a bit of weight to it, it just doesnt feel as 'solid' of a bike.
inline 4 > p-twin, performance wise the kawi is a better platform for racing/track. The r7 is more street-able because of the low torque. I going with the zx4rr as my low hp track bike.
Watched his first ride on both bikes, surprised with his conclusion. It sounded like he had an absolute blast on his first ride with the zx4rr compared with the R7 video. The main issue is the price.
I feel like he was more hard on the R7 when he did the review because he was expecting it to blow the R6 out of the water, that being said with some time he probably figured out the R7 isn't the R6 but is still better than a loud 400.
my girl friend has the r7 and I have a 05zx636. ther7 has great real world tourqs and its fun af. bottom to midish power is all you really need on the street
Of course he is. If you want/can ride around bent up like a pretzel then R7 is probably for you. It also has more adjustment at the front end and better low down grunt. I'd have an MT-07 instead (what I'm riding now). The ZX4RR seems to be more comfortable but still seems to be a blast. I'm old, so of the 2 I'd have the Kawasaki. My wrists and back can't handle a 'committed' seating position any more.
17:45 WHOA, HEEEEY I felt attacked right there, is that a challenge to me ? To be fair I have a 6 year old's brain, I don't trust myself on anything bigger than a 400ish thing. I only half trust myself around electricity, I have been at fractions of a millimeter from getting a 230v shock more times that I would like to admit.
Loving my R7 once you change the exhaust lol. Only other issue is having the intensity white you're cleaning the bottom side fairings after every ride from grim lol. Almost The bimbo brakes make it a nightmare for customizing levers. Really only other option is ASV black levers for 350$... I can't find any adjustable foldables in any colors. I ride in city; so torque over speed is for me instant power off the light instead of the wind-up to stop at the next light lol. Im also a older returning rider in my 30s so keep that in mind.
I felt so called out hahaha I was looking at getting a R7 for my first ever bike as a 20 year old first time rider LMAOOO. Great vid got to learn a few things.

Hey self nominated 'go to guy'😅
Oh they are a thing of beauty and uniquness. Also shows what the brand is willing to do, to take a different approach with all the strict emissions law, cost, RnD and if its profitable. If its something you'd like I say go for it, they do usually cost a bit more but that's just how it is with the extra cylinders and to cover the cost of research. I used to have a CB400 and it was such a good all rounder bike. 400cc inline four, you'd think it would lack torque but there's plenty there to use and a smooth running engine. Sounds nicer than your typical ptwin except them cp2 haha they're barky af I love that.
This is also me; it's just such a cool bike.
Bruh how is this r7 quite a few years old it's literally been out for 1 year, they won't be updating it for at least another 5 years
@ElementTicTacToe i was thinking R3 when typed that i think, even the R7 is probably halfway through its run now though at a guess.
Just made 1,230km first service today $357
So happy with my buy its a stunning motorcycle
Did you flash it ?
MUST FLASH
I personally ride a 2022 CBR650R not too aggressive, decent power for everyday riding and has 'enough basic features to stay safe and have fun (stability control, traction control and a adjustable rear shock adjustable foot pegs and optional quick shift addons)
my 636 with +1 -2 gearing is entirely useable on the street. sound is insanely better, revs to 17k, still paid less than $11k
…. so how’s that 400 lol
We need a video comparing these bikes head to head at the track. Come on Yamm make it happen

I think the R7 is going to be my next bike for sure. I've been riding my FZ07 for just over a year and I couldn't be happier with it. The amount of torque and accessible power you get at literally any rpm in any gear is just insane. And the sound, man, the sound of this engine is so nice. 👌
I just bought a brand new one. I absolutely love it and I have Rob with the ZR400 he cannot keep up with me
Love this format ! Clear, fast, and precise !
It’s my first bike too so plenty of room to grow on this platform before I step up to a liter bike.
its lacking in torque, half of what the R7 has
@@moisesojeda1085 because it’s a small displacement inline four. Of course it makes less torque!
@@moisesojeda1085Torque isn’t why people like small fours.
ZX4RR all day, 4 cylinder sound is a must for me >:)
I love to see the way you handling this R7. It sure looks like fun, looks like it ride like my FZ6.
R7 is my first bike and I absolutely love it a year and a half later. Definitely getting to the point where I'm looking for a bit more power here and there. But still an absolute blast to ride.
If you’re already tiring then, you’re not challenging yourself l and definitely not the bike.
@@nSquared75 sure, cause you know exactly how I ride
I like the r7. It’s just a much cleaner and nicer looking bike. I hate these bikes with graphics covering them everywhere. It doesn’t look good to me. I actually almost got an r7 a few months ago but ended up with a Ktm instead. The zx4rr I’m sure is great, but I’d have to remove al those graphics and get a paint job lol
Two tone blue and pinkish purple would look nice I think, like in the 90s
Yeah I cannot stand kawis decals and paint jobs, disgusting 😂
@@JkennGGgayeeee😂😂
Which KTM did you get? I have been looking at the two bikes in this video but also a duke 790.
I would pick the ZX4RR based off of the sound and I just love Kawasaki, however, I want both.
The R7 with its 270 crank sounds pretty sick to. But the inline 4 screaming with a exhaust is iconic.
For the price, sound, and power... Consider a Honda CBR650R.
Down side... They are hard to find.
@@ImJustKindaHere My friend has one. I don't like the seating position on it.
it has half the torque of the R7 and it also feels dead at low/mid RPM’s
Tbh the sound would be the least appealing thing about the 4RR. Sounds like every other flat plane inline 4 ever.
Went through the wreck of getting into an accident on it and unfortunately ruined it and spent a month in the hospital (still here, hopefully a week left)
The one thing I regret is losing my ability overall, but the big thing is losing my fantastic bike and culture and I can’t just get both back when I’m out and back in shape
Get better
how did that happen? Hope you are doing fine now

Wow, thats expensive insurance!! I pay €5 a month in the Netherlands for a 150hp FZ1
At 28, clean record but no histories riding bikes I got full coverage for $400/yr
Definitely worth shopping around as got a $1500 quote at first then some in between.
On my 23 GLI I only pay $1600 / yr as well .
If you have lots of tickets, accidents etc not much you can do
I would prefer R7 over ZX4RR
Edit: I change my mind and purchase a Honda Grom for my budget 👍
Wise man right here ^
This is how u end up with four groms
I think being the slowest person in traffic ultimately makes you a better rider when you move up to a bigger bike because you’re trained to be hyper aware of everyone around you when you can’t outrun them on a grom lol
I can't even afford all of those hahahahahh
I just did the same LOL.
If you wanted to get into track days and racing, I'm thinking the R7 would probably be the better choice. Besides the greater availability of mods, there are (I think...Yam, you might know more though) more Twins Cup-style races for the R7 than the ZX4. That being said, for just pure fun, screaming around is always nice on the track too ;)
I'm willing to bet the ZX4 is going to get more available to ace series than the R7. But we'll see
@@harrywhite9030 I mean, I hope so, but at least in the US the twins cup is pretty widespread
@@stevecade857 I don't think the zx4rr would have an advantage on track, its not any lighter, its about the same horsepower, but way down on torque.
ZX4R cause purchasing a bike is always about which one brings you more happiness.
I hear you but the ZX4 offers nothing but a ride to the dealer to trade it on any bike that can make you happier…no one should be happy about a welded subframe…
It offers a riding experience I prefer over the R7. That’s what this video is about.
I think adding a "1" on that would make it just that much more happy.
ZX-14R.
I'm keen on the R7 as my first bike. With the big asterisk of it being a LAMS (low output) model, due to the license laws here in Australia. I don't see it as a bad thing though, the simplicity and twisties fun of the R7, without the extra risk of the power, since I am an 18yr old dude, and shouldn't have quite that much power Lul
yo same here but i plan on getting an r3 or n400 first before upgrading to a r7la
Hi Yammy.Have you thought about the old ZRX400 from many moons ago?.Stunning little bike.OK it's maybe over 30 years old but worth it.Grab one and give it a bash.
...or the Yamaha FZR 400 from 1988-90. I've still got one. The only bike that handles better is my modded TZR 3xv. Same age as the FZR.
thank god the r7 doesn't need you to void the warranty to get 70hp.
“no thrills Motor cycle” is crazy, for any bike lol. 0-60 on the r7 is almost 3 seconds flat, idk I’d say gaping r6s from a stop light is pretty thrilling lol 😂
R7 is my choice yet ! its well rounded sport bike for so many riders with very comfy gear ration with that torque. well done Yammie Noob
that ice cream ref was so out there, but it made so much sense 🤣
I like the CP2 engine but for me revs will always beat torque. My GSXR400 race bike has nothing below 10k and will rev to 16k. It’s like a two stroke with cams.
Nice meeting you man. Thanks for letting me ride with ya. Mike appreciates you doing the review on his bike. If you want to do a review on my rocket or hayabusa let me know
I sat on a R7 and so glad i bought the R6. It seemed too thin to me. Need to ride a RS660 soon.
I did trade in my 2021 MT07 for the ZX4RR and have no regrets. This bike is a blast. I just want to ride it everyday and do when the weather lets me.
I'll take the Kawi and save $1,000/year or more in insurance (in my jurisdiction where bikes are categorized by displacement only for insurance purposes). Money that I can use to go out and actually enjoy the thing (or buy frarkles).
Was waiting for this comparison Papa Yam
R7 is my FZ6R with a facelift and a heart transplant. The soundtrack from that parallel twin makes it even better too.
Fz6r is a way better bike than an r7

Think perfect for that.

Maybe in a year or two the price will come down towards the MSRP.

just ordered a black zx4rr last week the reason i chose the zx or the r7 was bc the height i was able to flat foot the zx over the r7 and ive always loved kawi but the main reason that got me to go zx was bc the engines i absolutely love the sound of inline 4s i dont really enjoy the sound of the twin from the r7 so i got my favorite brand (kawi) a solid beginner bike and a inline 4 all the things i wanted when getting into the sport of riding

the zx4rr not a performance bike clearly you haven't had a decent ride
It fits in Asia with restrictive taxes on larger motorcycles. Without being rude to North Americans, the bike isn't made for the US, it's made for countries like Thailand that have a growing middle class who can now afford to pay more but still can't afford a 1000cc yet due to insane taxes and their general wealth being lower than western countries
For anybody who is going to hold onto them it's really a no brainer as special engines make cars and motorcycles classics. Thr ZX4RR will age very well and be revered.
R7s are a dime a dozen. The ZX-4RR is a much more special ride.
What different between ZX4RR and ZX4R ? My country only sell 1 R model.

I actually just made this choice myself two weeks ago. R7 or the ZX4RR. I ended up choosing the ZX4RR, It just felt more comfortable as and I like the screaming inline 4...sounds amazing, feels amazing!
overpriced for only having 25ft lbs of torque, might as well pay an extra $1,000 and get the ZX-6R
@@moisesojeda1085 the stated torque seems low but in the real world its enough
Yamaha for Design and style Kawa for the engine and sound 🎉
also looking at the suzuki sv 650 abs the gsxr 600 or 750 and the kawasaki zx6r. some of these might be second bike but I am 37 so I am not super young I do want to go to a track eventually
The r7 is just too good looking man,I don’t think there’s many bikes out there that look better than an r7
I am choosing btw R7, Rs660 and ZX4… I like the reliability of Japanese made ZX4, and the look n power on RS660, R7 for the price. Hard to choose…🤔🤔
Rs660 repair and service was will be disgusting. R7 is a yawner. Zx4 is overpriced. Why not second hand zx6?
I just looooove the look of the R7, it's so modern, I fell in love
Watched his first ride on both bikes, surprised with his conclusion. It sounded like he had an absolute blast on his first ride with the zx4rr compared with the R7 video. The main issue is the price.
I feel like he was more hard on the R7 when he did the review because he was expecting it to blow the R6 out of the water, that being said with some time he probably figured out the R7 isn't the R6 but is still better than a loud 400.
@@Shadow0Heir Yea Im sure that played a big role in first impressions.
yeah i think imma get the r7, thanks.
I wwould pick zx4rr all day here in ph stock gives 70hp already and r7 here is much expensive than the zx4rr. Also better built feels more premium.
I am new to this motorcycling thing I am about to take a course.
my girl friend has the r7 and I have a 05zx636. ther7 has great real world tourqs and its fun af. bottom to midish power is all you really need on the street
0:00 ...He's gonna dunk on the ZX again isn't he?
Of course he is.
If you want/can ride around bent up like a pretzel then R7 is probably for you. It also has more adjustment at the front end and better low down grunt. I'd have an MT-07 instead (what I'm riding now). The ZX4RR seems to be more comfortable but still seems to be a blast.
I'm old, so of the 2 I'd have the Kawasaki. My wrists and back can't handle a 'committed' seating position any more.
When you will compare CFMoto 450 vs Ninja 400?! Or do you ever?!
Are you ever gonna review a Yamaha R15m? Or is it not available in the US?
I just got my zx4 new for $8600, well under msrp. I guess it had sat on the dealer floor for a while
YAMMIEnoob choosing the R7 styling over the ZX4RR styling? Never has there been a more clear example that Yammie hates kawasaki!
yammie noob die hard fan here😊
Yaamie noob is it a good idea to have both if you don't want a scary litter bike.....
My country limit to 250 cc for basic licence and roadtax.. If I'm gonna get bigger bike I'll might as well take 1000cc or a ninja 636
I’m coming from a 450 sumo im really leaning towards a r7 possibly a mt-09
I would like to see a comparison between this new R7 and the Yamaha Fazer S2.
Just now realizing how close I live to Yammie HQ 🍻🍻
I felt so called out hahaha I was looking at getting a R7 for my first ever bike as a 20 year old first time rider LMAOOO. Great vid got to learn a few things.
Here I am 20 first time riding with a r7
I am very very confused between the Yamaha R7 and Honda CB 650 (specially that inline 4).
Hey yam when are you guys going to tall about the new zx6r?
What do we think about the Bonneville bobber from triumph
Is the seating position more relaxed on the zx4rr or the zx6r
What a sound on the Yamaha!!!!WOW!
I got ninja 400 but i want to upgrade already. But which one! In thinking zx6r???????? 😢 but i like r7! But i want 4 cyl
What do you mean? Everyone knows an h2 or a turbo charged busa are the only choices for starter bikes😅
