Another great "How To" video. And like you mentioned in your "Maze Base", redundancy is important... so I would add another ramp on the other side of the Ladder Pillar for additional access for the 4-legged wonders. Plus, add ladders to the ramps. So many options; so little time! Thanks again, Capp! 💯
I really enjoy seeing these different types of hoard bases. With the 1.0 update, it seems like different styles of bases are applicable to different stages of the game.
Love it! I have been using the iron double door for a year now... But I put my fighting area diagonally with rails that cover 1/4 of the door with the remaining 3/4 exposed for the zombies. When I open the door, the opening on my side of the diagonal railing is too small for me to fall through, but I can drop pipe bombs through it. I like these kind of bases to give you a breather when you need to repair items or heal.
I usually put a small spike filled moat (at least three blocks deep) around any tower base I build, drop or otherwise. This deters most zombies from beating on the tower when they cant figure out what else to do, and the spikes take care of the rest.
Great tutorial video and good catch on mentioning zombie AI pathing when they can stand directly below you, making them go into destroy structure mode. I've not tried using this style of base in my current console game. I prefer the other base style you've shared in the past as it allows me to get a good bit of zombie kills and some loot bags before they despawn. I had only used a poi for the first 2 horde nights, 2nd horde night was a total disaster so I then started working on a permanent horde base using the tower/side post centered configuration. So far, so good, 37 days in with a solid horde base, a nice homebase atop working stiff tools, a large farm, chemistry station, mini bike, traps and lvl 6 stun baton and a sledge robot to top it all off 😊
Screw the haters Capp! You’re doing an awesome job. I watch your content over Josh and Glock every time. Josh is too dramatic and Glock is just meh. However I am really liking Cryptic Fox too. ❤❤❤
Hey man capp00 and glock are my favorite all time for about 10years now big cheers to them both for an insane amount of entertainment!!! Capp bud if you read this I REALLY appreciate your work it's wholesome and in some hard years I would be waiting for your upload as a highlight to my week so I will always be grateful 🙏
OMG Capp another great How To Video. I had to stop trying to drink my pop watching cause every time the zombies would YEET i literally could not stop laughing. Fun times lol
I wonder if a delay on triggering might help with lowering the amount of destroy area. I'm assuming they're hitting stuff because their pathing tried updating while the door was open. Giving a couple of seconds or so of the door staying closed might aid that. Duration would still be instant. It might shift the block damage from down below to your position (less threat to structure and can repair as well).
I did not test that. I did see about having a 1-2 second delay so that more zombies could pile up before it dumped them, but seemed to have more problems with the motion sensor not knowing what to do with that many zombies and it just wouldn't open the door at all.
There's a little corner piece that would let you smooth out the pathway without having those pole wings, unless that affects their pathing, which it shouldn't.
The TH-cam AI is really f*king up. I always keep up with you, Josh, Tem and Eko. And for some TH-cam reason... I haven't been getting any of ya'll in my feed or notifications, without searching.
Could using the ramp6 or ramp8 blocks on the face of the base push them away enough as they are falling to deter them from attacking the bottom as much?
I wonder if it would be possible to build an elevated catwalk/platform base so long that it would take them the entirety of the horde night just to make their way up the stairs/ramps and across the catwalks and get to you...
Sadly no, they will only pathfind up to a certain distance. if they can't pathfind to you, they just go straight into destroy mode at the closest place to you.
There's just something hilarious about watching the ones that end up just flinging themselves off to the side. I have no idea why I find that so funny, but I do.
they made some changes to the pathing and zombies do not like walking on doors now, they still will they just often try tyr other routs now resulting in more jumping and hitting things
Someone probably already told you... but incase they didn't there is a tiny corner cube that u can use instead of the poles sticking out side ways on the door.
@nobertstanel9428 No great vid, you were just complaining about how ugly the poles sticking out sideways was... I thought you might like to know there is a block just for that little gap.
Yes, and that's one of those odd coincidence things. Neither of us knew the other was making these videos. I recorded mine on Monday, before his went live. I'm sure he recorded his earlier this week or even last week. Just good timing. I DM'd him and told him people are going to say I copied him. We laughed.
@capp00 thanks for it, I love how it works tbh compared to his. Can you do a video with force field, I tried all others and they don't work with existing pois, dk if it's cause I need meat and potato style 😜
@@xThe187crewif you just want to not fight the horde stand on a building, particularly that early in the game the horde is not dangerous and you can stand on just about anything so long as you take out the stairs/ladders

Hi capp00 can't write a comment so commenting in a reply 😅 great to see you in capp00Park good job 😊
That Josh guy just yells at the screen. His channel must be aimed for children viewers?

I don't know if ya'll heard it or not but Frank definately said Canonball before he jumped in the hole!

Turning the ladders sideways no longer stops them from climbing so doubling up scaf ladders puts zombies on your roof
Thank you for this. I am not at all good at base building...these help with ideas.
Glad to help

Agreed!
personally Great video I use a floor plate to open the door to drop the zombies by stepping on it or off it

Yup, just as I was showing in the video. Works great.
If you're that worried about zombies hitting the bottom, could you put a sledgie down there or turrets to keep them away? Or will they attack those?
They won't attack the turrets, but a sledge turret can only be a certain distance away so it might be too far for it to activate.
How do I get this information about the zombie you used at 16:56?
With debug mode enabled, press the 0 key on the numpad of your keyboard and it will toggle on/off

Loving these videos Capp00, reminds me of alpha16.4 vids ❤ #nostalgia
I do like making these types of videos
can we get the other zombies like lisa into horde night?
I don't have any control over which zombies show up during horde nights.
We can’t understand them because we don’t speak zombie but I know they’re saying “Yeet!” and “hey guys, watch this!” before they jump!
Looks pretty simple and easy did a good job
His HUD is a lot more informative than on the console remake. Is that modded or is that a setting I can tweak?
It's modded
Why my powored vault door does not work?
Great build, not the prettiest hunk of concrete. It kind of reminds me of the mushroom spores when you place them. But it's solid!
Very true!
Freaking awesome.
That's a pretty good base.
Thanks!
Didnt jawoodle build a base with the automatic trap door 3 days odd ago 😂

Not as easy as this one looks though. That one took harder to build to me.

Hi james!!
Did they add advanced rotation to the doors now? Or is it a mod/edited blocks xml?
Yes it is standard now.
