The student is doing a great job of following Brendel's directions. You can hear his performance improving with every phrase. You don't always see that in master classes.
The point is the message hes trying to convey wbout the melody. If he really could "sing," in as you mean it, the student might not get the message. And we'd all gasp at Brendel's talent(s)!
Ausgezeichnete Meisterklasse mit dem legendären Pianisten und Pädagogen Alfred Brendel.

Brendel's great in masterclass - I wish there were more examples on TH-cam (other than the Liszt Sonata and the Schumann.)
What a dream to have this awesome, intense education.
you have no idea how easy it is not to notice singing when allured by a wonderful melodic line...
Ausgezeichnet !!
hes not trying to sing well, hes feeling the music, cant u tell?
This kid is not doing what Brendel tells him to do. Poor Brendel, or poor guy..
How about starting the trill from the upper note in m. 68?
@bagdad4 You bet!! :-)
Não entendi uma unica palavra do que ele disse... mesmo assim a aula foi perfeita (eu sei inglês, mas mesmo assim ele mormoria demais)
@marcxopoco he's not alone but at least he can play the piano
🔪😢
Why does he try to sing when he can't?

He is supposedly attempting to TEACH.
The pathetic 'singing' only impedes the teaching.
