The main reason I upgraded my GoPro 12 to the 13 was to have the option of connecting a wireless mic without having to use the media mod. Well, here comes my frustration! Your video showed exactly the problem that I found when using the quickcapture button (press it, turn it on and start recording, press it again and stop recording and turn it off). The DJI mic 2 loses communication with the camera sometimes when you turn the camera off and want to turn it on again, so you have to restart the mic to get it working again, which is complicated to do with the system on a motorcycle capturing several images along the way. I bought the Action 5 to test it and it works perfectly with fast and flawless communication as you showed in the video. I would really like to have this working on the GoPro 13. Thanks for your video, no other has the information and tests that you did. Good job👏🏼
Thanks, brother, for sharing this info. I'm also using my GoPro 9, 10, and Max 360 on my motorbike. Media Mode is definitely a nuisance, and the Purple Panda lavalier mic cable is too long and gets in the way in my helmet. After reading your comment, I'm reconsidering upgrading to the GoPro 13
Thanks, as always, for the FULLY FANTASTIC video. You are BY FAR the best wireless audio reviewer. I just bought the Action 5 JUST for the SUPER SEAMLESS connection to DJI mic. Key features NOW are 2 mics to Action 5. And the old standards : auto connect, internal mic recording file , remote start from mic etc. I hope insta copies DJI mic for X5. X4 works horribly with DJI mic 2. And I LOVED that you tested and clarified its MUCH more than standard Bluetooth to DJI cameras . Superb as usual, thank you. I'm now waiting for the Ace 2 to drop before sinking my money into an action cam to compliment the X4. Seems the Action 5 will be hard to beat once the firmware update arrives to increase the bit rate. Further cementing it's appeal, the familial link between the mics and the camera are probably going to take some beating, especially given that they really don't need the Rx unit in this config, i.e. half the price of the full mic pack (2Tx +1 Rx). Look forward to the next one - always well produced and perfectly unbiased.
Excellent review as always. I have both, the ace pro and the new a5p, and i will also get the new ace pro2 when its released. I decided on the a5p because of the extended battery life AND the fantastic connectivity to the DJI mic2. On a side note, i'm not even sure that Gopro can be considered an option anymore, and it pains me to say that. Thanks again.
Once again you have gone the extra mile. Awesome comparison. However - I [ and maybe others ] would like to know how you got 3 mics to perform separately like that. I assumed that once one was paired then the others would pair to the same camera. Maybe a short to explain how you did it.
Actually, Bluetooth pairing is very specific. Each microphone pairs independently to a different camera. Even if you pair 2 mics to the Action 5, each mic is paired individually.
It is worth being aware that because the DJI mics are omnidirectional and so you can use them to produce stereo by spacing them an appropriate distance apart. I've tested this with the Action 5 camera and it works, though in my rig to keep it portable I really don't space the mics far enough apart to get "real" stereo as I only use it to record stereo wildtrack. This little demo video shows the basics of how I do it with my Rode mics, the process is the same for the DJI Wireless 2 mics: th-cam.com/video/D9vGXMlyjdo/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
This is brilliant and so unique review! Thanks so much for this, man.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Du machst die besten Tests und ich schaue sie mir immer an, mach weiter so, danke. Niemand erklärt die Funktionen der Kameras besser als Du.
Amazing amazing comparison.. superbly done.
Glad you liked it - thanks.

Hi I just have a question about jdi oa5. Have you tested the new firmware that is released

@@ttl_channel Thanks - I appreciate the fast response. Have a truly fantastic weekend.

If you use Quick Capture on the GP 13 does the mic auto connect? TiA
No, only the DJI will auto-connect.

Thanks for your reply!
It's disappointing the GP13 Quick Capture means you have to go into the menu for use of the DJI Mic 2..
