How to Replace Motor Mount 2013 - 2016 Ford Escape: HOW TO ESCAPE

  • This tutorial shows how to replace a motor / engine mount on a 2013 - 2016 Ford Escape. If you have excessive vibrations, or clunking of your engine when the engine is running, this is a fix that will change the way your vehicle feels and make it seem like new again.
The key thing here is to SUPPORT THE ENGINE when you detach the old mount and put the new one on. You just need a floor jack and wood block, and you'll need an 18mm and 15mm socket and torque wrench aside from the other items to get under the wiper cowling.

These step are very similar for the 2.0T Version. The mount is slightly different but I was able to change ours without removing even the underpan. I just moved the plastic engine cover and coolant reservoir and just used different extensions to get access to the bolts. I managed to call the threads on the body side and after much swearing I was able to retap and thread in a replacement bolt from the dealership. It was $4 USD for 2 bolts but saved so much frustration. The Tap is M12x1.75 if you're wondering.

Well done! I have Liked and Subscribed, something that I rarely do. Very clear and concise, with a total lack of irritating background music! You saved me around $400 by enabling me to (easily) repair the car myself. I particularly liked your inclusion of bolt head sizes and torque specs.

Hey! I can only demo a 1.6L as that's what I have in our garage, but I can see what may be different on a 2.0L and make a note with some screenshots. Concepts should be the exact same whether it's the 1.6L, 2.0L, or 2.5L (non turbo). Do you have any questions in specific you'd like to see answered while we make it?

Are you planning on doing the Trans Mount or the Torque Strut mount ? I had the dealer replace the same mount in this video (under Ford ESP) but I still get a slight vibration when I am on Drive at a Stop Light, it does feel smoother though with the updated mount..

Failure :/ Ended up getting the transmission replaced with a reman transmission with some updated parts vs pulling one from an existing vehicle or going to the dealer. Dealer wanted 7500 and reman transmission came in at 5K with 3 years parts and labor warranty so that sold me. It's been in the car for about a month and a half and seems to be doing really well so far. Sorry for not updating- I should post an updated video soon on this! @@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews So far so good. Have 135k on the car now. I inherited the car after my dad passed away (at 102k miles) and I know he didn’t have the PTU or transmission serviced. Those were the first things I did when I got it. This weekend I will be replacing both rear bearings which is no biggie.
