The sight of his own death, then the sight of the Infinity Stones as useless baubles had more of an effect on Loki that he's willing to admit. We will see the multiverse more in future movies, but no spoilers. The sight of Sylvie and Loki attracted to each other was unsettling at first, but they _are_ distinct personalities. BTW, what Loki was singing on the train was in Norwegian. There was a TH-camr that reacted to each episode when it came out (it was excruciating waiting a week for the next episode!), and a commenter there actually translated the lyrics for us,
I wouldn't worry about the Loki/Sylvie shipping - they're not the same people, they don't have the same genetics, and they weren't raised as family. They just have a resonance of destiny and souls. It's romantic when you put it that way.
they have differences, but the very core of who they are is the exact same, so yeah, they do are the same people them falling for each other is just the apotheosis of Loki's narcissism
So just to make sure you understood. Our Loki is technically dead. This is a different timeline, where he was able to escape beacuse of the Avengers went back through time. What happens is that if something is changed in the past it doesn't affect the future of our Avengers. It only creates a new timeline what deviates from the one we all know beacuse of that change. So you can say that a universe can have muliple timelines, but on the other hand the TVA would prevent such from happening by resetting or bring everthing back to normal. Now multiverse is something different, it basically means multiple universes and each universes may or may not have one or many different timelines.
It's basically Marvel doing Doctor Who and I am all for it. Very similar writing style and format. Minimal but impactful action, deep conversations and sprinkles of humour. Glad you enjoyed these episodes! Buckle up for a wild next 3 episodes! :D
I love that exchange "Are you a recording, or are you real life?" "Uhh... Sorta both!" Its a perfect description of any being, depending on whether they are being interviewed during their lifetime, or from a point in time after their decease. It all depends on the temporal perspective.
Something I really love about Mobius and Loki is that they have this mutual respect and appreciation for one another...eventually. Mobius is truly the only Midgardian Loki has EVER trusted. Loki, our Loki, is the only Loki Mobius has ever trusted. Can't wait for season 2 ❤
Parts of the TVA were shot at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, which is one of the host hotels for Dragon Con. For the 2021 con, which was only a few months after this was released, hotel staff got TVA uniform jackets.
After Loki, since you already saw Black Widow which was the next in line, is the What If series which will explore the concepts of the Multiverse started here.
I always loved the very retro futuristic feel the TVA had in this series really have the show it's own look and feel combined with the amazing soundtrack. Also love that we're diving into timelines and Multiverses which have been a very important aspect in Marvel with DC comics really being the first ones to dive into this idea with Flash of Two Worlds. This introduced the idea of multiple Earths that existed on top of each other but vibrated at different frequency's. Flash, Bally Allen travels to an alternate Earth by mistake when vibrating meeting his Golden Age counterpart Jay Garrick the Flash of Earth 2. Earth-2 was revealed to be the Earth where all the Golden Age comics took place so the original Batman, Flash, Superman excited on Earth-2 along with the Justice Society of America. While Earth-1 was introduced as the Earth where the new Silver age (1950s) comics took place home to Bally Allen's Flash and younger versions of Batman, Superman etc. Instead of the Justice Society there was the more well known Justice League with Earth-1 becoming the main focus of DC comics. Pretty funny how the golden age hero's came first yet they get labelled as Earth-2 lol Marvel is the same with Earth-616 being the main universe while a bunch of other alternate universe exist within the Marvel multiverse. Like the comics the MCU now have a way to explore alternate timelines where events could've played out differently to meeting alternate versions of characters. The concept has been brought up a few times throughout the MCU but Loki is the first show or movie to really dive into the concept. One big advice for this series is don't think too hard about the whole timelines speak as it can get overwhelming and a little confusing. Summed up as best as I can think of the MCU as a Tree with branches. Each of these branches are alternate timelines with small to large changes giving birth to new universe. These new universes originated from the MCU so they will tend to share the same historical events but characters may look slightly different in the case of Loki or they may look the same. Then you have the other tree's for example one of these tree's could be the Fox X-Men universe which itself will have it's own branches and alternate timelines.
Just to be clear, Marvel's first alternate reality story was less than a year after Flash of Two Worlds, appearing in Strange Tales #103 (oct 1962). Neither DC nor Marvel was taking about multiverses at that time, that concept was created years later with partial retconning of the original stories. Which is fine, that's how comics work, but it's disingenuous to make it sound like DC had some giant multiverse established before Marvel even touched on the idea. Both companies were using each others ideas at every step.
this show, Loki, sets up a lot of things moving forward..so yes, what happened here will be of great importance to Phase 4-6 of the MCU..so excited that you'll get to experience it with us..
I don’t think any story in the MCU is quite as sharp and explicit in vivisecting its main character the way this show is. The whole show is just about breaking down all of his emotional layers and pretenses and getting to his very core as a person. It’s incredibly effective.
Loki, like many mythic figures of mischief (I'm thinking of Thoth from ancient Egypt, Spider from Caribbean, and Coyote from Southwest native american traditions) is a person who is 'so sharp that he cuts himself'. Very clever, but not foresighted enough to prevent self-sabotage.
Excellent reaction, Addie. My girlfriend & I watched this show and enjoyed it. It's very neat that we get a follow-up on Loki, after Endgame, though it's 2012 Loki. BTW, bless you at 4:28.
Speaking of Owen Wilson, I suggest Armageddon (1998 directed by Michael Bay), Secret Headquarters (2022) (both produced by Jerry Bruckheimer), The Haunting (1999, directed by Jan de Bont, for Halloween), Shanghai Noon (2000), Shanghai Knights (2003), Around The World in 80 Days (2004) (all three films with Jackie Chan), Behind Enemy Lines (2001), You, Me and Dupree (2006, directed by the Russo brothers), Zoolander (2001), Zoolander 2 (2016), and Marry Me (2022). However, I won't suggest Anaconda (1997), due to your ophidiophobia (fear of snakes).
LOKI!!! My favorite of the shows, so far. Not only is Loki, my favorite character, but I love all the philosophical conversations and questions that are raised in this show. It is awesome that you are also watching the X-Men movies, you will be glad you did. I second any suggestions for you to watch both Venom movies BEFORE Spider-Man: No Way Home. They literally slaughter entire universes of people--men, women, children, pets, everything--every single day. Billions of trillions of quadrillions of people, murdered. Thanos was less arrogant and less dangerous by many orders of magnitude.
I abosolutely love the Loki series. It's s great watch through and though. Loki and Hawkeye are my two favorite marvel series so far. I like to watch Hawkeye around the Holidays since it's a Christmas themed show.
Awesome start to the series. I'm convinced that Loki is actually D. B. Cooper! He totally could pull that off!! Loved being surprised about our female Loki. See you for the second half and the big finish!! Take care, Addie!!
It's hard to totally kill a character in sci-fi. "I thought she was dead." -- "No, she's a replica of the clone of her twin from an alternate time line in a parallel universe who faked her own death."
Addie, Captain Marvel and Wanda's brother Pietro absorbed some of the Tesseract's SPACE STONE power into them Pietro when he was being experimented on by Baron Von Strucker at SHIELD when HYDRA was infiltrating them throughout the 20th century, so Pietro can Warp through SPACE using SPACE stone powers and so can Captain Marvel as she also came into contact with the Tesseract.
"There are too many Loki's right now" Oh you have NO Idea!!! Infinity Stones are used as paperweights with no power or value, but they are the Most Powerful items in our universe able to make 1/2 the life in the universe disappear...
I've got a pet theory that the reason the TVA is so retro is because advanced technology - even 'modern' technology - is to a degree magical in the MCU and so won't work in their dimension. They've just gotten VERY good at working within the limitations.
I feel like Loki is incapable of falling in love with anyone except himself... but if you look into his backstory in Norse mythology he has boned literally everything.
People were so annoyed at the infinity stones/paper weight joke but I think it is the most important line in this series. It shows just how powerful Kang really is. He (or at least some Varient of him) can make infinity stones lose all their power. That takes some power of its own. He is way stronger and deadlier than Thanos.
It’s likely that the “crime” Sylvie was guilty of is deciding to become a Valkyrie, rather than the Goddess of Mischief. She was playing with a Valkyrie doll when she was arrested. In Thor Ragnarok, Thor told Valkyrie he wanted to be one as a child until someone explained that only women can become one. I know some assumed her crime was being female, but if so, her deviation would have been at birth, not when playing with a Valkyrie doll as a pre-teen.

Of all MARVEL Disney+ shows, this one is the most important to the Saga you've just entered (Phases IV, V, and VI... and maybe VII, but that isn't announced yet). The Saga is called "The Multiverse Saga." The head writer of this show also wrote the most important FILM (both loved and hated) of the Phase Four and the FINAL film(s?) of Phase Six.
Some day... One of the original Avengers to Ant-Man: "I can't believe you convinced the entire world you were part of the Battle of New York when everyone knows you didn't even have your suit yet..." Loki steps out of a TVA portal, takes one look at Scott and points dramatically: "YOU!!!"
@@Starsaber222 Clint wasn't wrong when he said Scott wasn't there (about the musical,) but Scott isn't lying if he says he was, because Endgame Scott in New York happened in a branch timeline that is not part of anyone in this universe's personal history or memory, but is nonetheless a thing that happened to Scott. He still didn't fight _in_ the battle, though. Loki was already captured by the time he did anything.
And speaking of Star Trek, I highly recommend the Director's Cuts of The Motion Picture (1979), The Wrath of Khan (1982), & The Undiscovered Country (1991) as you watch the original crew movies.
Somewhat unsteady series, and the plot holes are big enough to steer a cruise ship through and still have ample clearance on all sides, but there's a lot of fun to be had. Hiddleston really carries the show with his charm and antics. The bit about Loki falling in love with himself (well, a variant of himself) makes a LOT of sense, as there's no one Loki loves more than himself. He could only ever see himself (in this case in the form of Sylvie) as a suitable partner for himself. I imagine it doesn't hurt any that Sophia Di Martino is VERY cute.
