Sylvie was playing with her Valkyrie toys and dreamed of being a Valkyrie; in that moment she changed the direction of her life. She wanted to be a hero. But the TVA could not allow that because if she were to become a hero, she would not be the Loki needed to create the Avengers. And the Sacred Timeline would not continue.
The cutest detail is when Loki sees Sylvie shiver, and wraps her in his blanket: Remember, they are not really Asgardian, they are actually Frost Giants in disguise, and can't feel cold. Sylvie was lying to cover up her affection, and Loki would have known it, but shared his blanket anyway because he also wanted to be near her. Fitting that two Lokis would express their love with lies.

In both Norse mythology and in the comics, Loki did cut Sif's hair, though in both cases he cut ALL of it off, and in both cases Loki was forced to find replacement hair for her, lest he be killed by Thor. Also in both cases, Sif had glorious blonde hair. In the myth, Loki had the dwarfs of Nidavellir spin gold into hair. In the comics, he had no gold, so the dwarfs spun the night sky into hair, which is why Sif in the comics - and in the movies - has black hair.
Interesting about the comics version. I read a Tales of Asgard at the end of a Thor comic that they did the gold hair story with another Asgardian woman rather than Sif (presumably since they'd established her having dark hair)

There's a couple of Easter Eggs hidden in Episode 5 - The crashed helicopter is the Thanos-copter which actually appeared in the comics, and as they enter the secret lair you may have spotted a frog-like creature trapped in a jar and trying to get out using a familiar hammer. This is Throg, a human who was turned into a frog by a witch and later gained his universe's equivalent of Thor's hammer. He's a hero in the same universe as Spider-Ham, so it's a pretty weird place!
Also, the ship that shows up is the USS Eldridge, a ship supposedly involved in a 1943 radar cloaking experiment that supposedly vanished completely from reality for a brief time, and the subject of countless conspiracy theories, and at least one movie.

No. The tva doesn’t exist in time. Its not apart of any timeline as it is outside of the timeline. The agents were simply reset and conditioned to know who kang is instead of him being a mystery. So all of our beloved tva members are likely dead and replaced with new variants.

The first time I thought the TVA was different at the end because of what Loki and Sylvie did to the entire timeline/multiverse, like an alternate 1985 scenario from BTTF, but Sylvie used He Who Remains' special hand-tempad to send Loki away, (she didn't have a normal one on her) which means she might have displaced him across more dimensions than she's used to controlling for. In other words, he's landed in another universe and the original TVA with the Mobius who remembers him might still exist somewhere.

The great bit about Loki in the memory prison: In Norse Myth, there was a time when Loki cut off all of Sif's hair, using a knife so sharp it wouldn't grow back. Since her hair is pretty much all we know about her from surviving myths, this was a big deal, especially to her husband Thor (Thor and Sif were married in the myths). To keep Thor from killing him, Loki vowed to get Sif new hair. In doing so, he ended up pitting different dwarves in a contest against each other with Loki's head as a wager (he managed to weasel out) and got the gods of Asgard some of their most potent mystical artifacts, including Mjolnir.
Yeah, Loki/Sylvie unleashed hell and the very next series, What If...?, is exactly about the differences on many Marvel characters on this wide Multiverse. It's an animated series and is based on a recurrent theme that also happens on Marvel comics: "what would happen if some incident played out differently?" After that you'll finally watch Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Can't wait to see your reaction!

I like the fact that they don't make a big point of a plot explanation for Loki and Sylvie's rescue from Lamentis - the big timeline divergence wasn't because they were falling in love, which was the implication, it was because the Sacred Timeline depended on them escaping and finding their way to He Who Remains.
I knew who had been casted to play Kang, and i had looked into who Kang was, so when he showed up in that elevator i got real excited. My dad and brother didn't know why. Lol I watched a lot of videos explaining this stuff as it was in the comics, so following along was easier, and also more exciting. Trying to estimate the likeihood of what they'd do from the source material, what they COULD do, and how they'd do it, was a lot of fun. I was right about some stuff and wrong about a lot more, in the best way.
I believe when it shows Mobius watching all the branches after He Who Remains dies that we are in our timeline THEN it cuts to an alternate timeline Sylvie sent Loki too where Kang runs the TVA and they never met Loki

Yes, this show really blew the world wide open, we are now dealing with a multiverse! it's interesting how the opening of next season changes the scene in the end of this one.
Meet Loki’s variants: Classic (Richard E. Grant), Kid (Jack Veal), Boastful (DeObia Oparei), and Alligator (modeled after an alligator named Wally). Episode 5 had my favorite funny moment in the season: The Loki Smackdown. When Analyst Loki saw his President variant being betrayed by his army, he had that look on his face that said, "God, I'm so immature." He looked exasperated again when his Boastful variant yelled glorious purpose during the fight. He Who Remains' real name is Nathaniel Richards. He's portrayed by Jonathan Majors. Several months before Loki Season 1 aired, they publicly announced that Jonathan would portray another variant of Nathaniel known as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The statue shown at the end of episode 6 is one of Kang’s variants now in charge of the TVA. Thankfully you won’t have to wait too long for season 2. It’s expected to drop sometime this year, and you might be fully caught up by then. However, Quantumania and Loki season 2 are not the only times that we’ll see Kang. He’s gonna be the MCU’s next big bad since Thanos. With that in mind, the Avengers will have to reassemble. The fifth Avengers title which is coming May 2025 is called The Kang Dynasty. A sixth entry is also in the works for May 2026. They’re calling it Secret Wars. As for Loki season 2, Kate Herron didn’t return to direct. She signed up to work on one season and she's already working on other projects but she left on good terms. Her only request is that the new directors have to give Mobius a jet ski. Most if not the entire second season was directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. They previously worked on two episodes of Moon Knight which I’m also excited for you to check out.
The Marvel community blew up with excitement the day episode 6 came out... when it was finally revealed who was behind the TVA. Oh, and also Welcome to the Multiverse Saga!! Like, Phase 1 to 3 (till Far From Home) was Infinity Saga, Phase 4 (starting from WandaVision) to Phase 6 is collectively called the Multiverse Saga... I'm kinda glad they included the post credits scene in Episode 4... it would've been pretty evil of them to make people wait for a whole week thinking that the main character died 😂 cuz that death seemed very real and irreversible Also Fun fact: The story Old Man Loki told everyone about how he survived Thanos' arrival on their ship in Infinity War... it actually stemmed from real fan theories which came out after Infinity War, with most of them suggesting most of what Old Man Loki said in his story. "You are alone. And you always will be." fits so perfectly in this scene 32:04 Now all I can say about the future after Loki is... Great stuff is on the way!! Edit: Also if you wanna watch season 2 of this as it comes out, 1 by 1 episode, I suggest to watch the 3rd Ant-Man movie before it... This is only in the case where you didn't catch up with the MCU by the time Season 2 comes out... I feel like you will catch up by the time it comes out.

That scene at the end where Mobius didn't recognize Loki, I believe is in a different TVA. There appears to be one TVA for the sacred timeline, but it split off into multiple timelines. Loki is probably trapped in a variant TVA. That would also explain the He Who Remains/Kang statue. I'm sure we'll get an explanation in Season 2. This show is a little mind bendy but fun. I think the TVA is supposed to exist outside of time (not that that makes much sense either, but it seems what we're going with), so more likely it was rewritten as a result of Kang returning

Loki is such an important series for the future of the MCU because this is the event that unlocks the multiverse and sets up the next Avengers-level threat. So much of what is to come is only possible because Sylvie killed He Who Remains. This cliffhanger didn’t just set up Loki Season 2… it set up the rest of MCU phases 4-6!
i wish Loki got to do anything in the season finale of his own show. it was all about Sylvie and her decision, you could have cut Loki out of the whole episode and it wouldnt change anything

This show is so good and so are the characters. Considering how Sylvie couldn't put her revenge aside (understandably) Ravonna and her blind faith in the TVA makes her "good person"(?), but so many interesting plot points left open.

The thing that breaks my heart is that Sylvie realizes she's damaged. On some level she knows killing HWR won't really ease her pain--but she cannot NOT kill him. Not after all she's been through. You can see it at the end, with her falling to her knees, empty. Knowing Loki was right and she was wrong in some sense even as she acted... And yet I think in the end she did exactly what she'd been planning. She FREED the universe, freed hundreds of thousands of millions of billions of trillions of quadrillions of worlds from being slaughtered over and over again--just to keep a Sociopath safe (and HWR is obviously a sociopath). All those branches in the timeline? They are BEAUTIFUL beyond words. They are HOPE.

If Kang "He Who Remains" is using the same Quantum Device Stark built (hence what the Avengers did was supposed to happen) then Time Travel and Multiversal Jumping can be one and the same thing, through the Quantum Realm.
i find it very scientifically accurate. like of course if u time travel another branch timeline will appear. like the avengers said that changing the past doesn't change the future its actually a misconception and the avengers doesn't know that it creates a different timeline.
The issue I have is how despite needing them to be totally different they sometimes conflate parallel dimensions (alternate timelines due to decision making) and multiverse (alternate universes, where you end up with species variation).
This... this is what changes the entire MCU and puts it on the track of what is going to happen in the next couple of phases. WandaVision was great, but this shapes the entire thing. Also... this isn't our Loki. This Loki was the same up through the end of The Avengers movie then he branched off from ours. He watched the highlights reel of that Loki's life, and that would have changed him, but not in the same way that living through his mother dying, working with Thor, pretending to be Odin, Odin dying, the time on Sackar. None of that happened to this one. He is a different loki in a different way.

I watched a lot of videos explaining this stuff as it was in the comics, so following along was easier, and also more exciting. Trying to estimate the likeihood of what they'd do from the source material, what they COULD do, and how they'd do it, was a lot of fun. I was right about some stuff and wrong about a lot more, in the best way.
I believe when it shows Mobius watching all the branches after He Who Remains dies that we are in our timeline THEN it cuts to an alternate timeline Sylvie sent Loki too where Kang runs the TVA and they never met Loki

In case it wasn't clear from the last scene: One of the variants of He Who Remains has already travelled back in time, and has taken over the TVA. And your instincts are correct -- the events of this show are going to have a tremendous impact on the MCU going forward. In fact, they already have.
One more thing: You weren't alone in your dismay when Mobius was 'pruned'. Fans were shocked, and I saw many reactors take it very, very badly. It was a relief to all when he showed up again in the next episode.

Addie, He Who Remains is the next big bad. Well, not him, but actually yes him. It's amazing how one person can be an enemy to everyone, including himself.

The ending was phenomenal with the music build up as Loki started looking for Mobius; finds him then glances over to see Kang Statue signifying the immediate change - then the music dropped. Whew!!! Epic ending!

Episode 5 had my favorite funny moment in the season: The Loki Smackdown. When Analyst Loki saw his President variant being betrayed by his army, he had that look on his face that said, "God, I'm so immature." He looked exasperated again when his Boastful variant yelled glorious purpose during the fight.
He Who Remains' real name is Nathaniel Richards. He's portrayed by Jonathan Majors.
Several months before Loki Season 1 aired, they publicly announced that Jonathan would portray another variant of Nathaniel known as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
The statue shown at the end of episode 6 is one of Kang’s variants now in charge of the TVA. Thankfully you won’t have to wait too long for season 2. It’s expected to drop sometime this year, and you might be fully caught up by then.
However, Quantumania and Loki season 2 are not the only times that we’ll see Kang. He’s gonna be the MCU’s next big bad since Thanos. With that in mind, the Avengers will have to reassemble.
The fifth Avengers title which is coming May 2025 is called The Kang Dynasty. A sixth entry is also in the works for May 2026. They’re calling it Secret Wars.
As for Loki season 2, Kate Herron didn’t return to direct. She signed up to work on one season and she's already working on other projects but she left on good terms. Her only request is that the new directors have to give Mobius a jet ski.
Most if not the entire second season was directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. They previously worked on two episodes of Moon Knight which I’m also excited for you to check out.
Jonathan majors voiced the robot timekeepers which I think is pretty cool

I'm kinda glad they included the post credits scene in Episode 4... it would've been pretty evil of them to make people wait for a whole week thinking that the main character died 😂 cuz that death seemed very real and irreversible
Also Fun fact: The story Old Man Loki told everyone about how he survived Thanos' arrival on their ship in Infinity War... it actually stemmed from real fan theories which came out after Infinity War, with most of them suggesting most of what Old Man Loki said in his story.

Edit: Also if you wanna watch season 2 of this as it comes out, 1 by 1 episode, I suggest to watch the 3rd Ant-Man movie before it... This is only in the case where you didn't catch up with the MCU by the time Season 2 comes out... I feel like you will catch up by the time it comes out.
Season 2 of this will be coming. We know that for sure. Anyway, next up, you have season 1 of "What If...?". I won't say why it's important. You'll have to wait and see for yourself.

It's still a cool theory that when He Who Remains stated that they crossed the threshold, it's the moment when Wanda became the Scarlet Witch since Wanda Maximoff is the Nexus Being of MCU Earth 616. Nexus Beings are the center of reality of every universe.

Kang the Conqueror, a variant of He Who Remains, is the main villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania.
That scene at the end where Mobius didn't recognize Loki, I believe is in a different TVA. There appears to be one TVA for the sacred timeline, but it split off into multiple timelines. Loki is probably trapped in a variant TVA. That would also explain the He Who Remains/Kang statue. I'm sure we'll get an explanation in Season 2. This show is a little mind bendy but fun. I think the TVA is supposed to exist outside of time (not that that makes much sense either, but it seems what we're going with), so more likely it was rewritten as a result of Kang returning

Loki is such an important series for the future of the MCU because this is the event that unlocks the multiverse and sets up the next Avengers-level threat. So much of what is to come is only possible because Sylvie killed He Who Remains. This cliffhanger didn’t just set up Loki Season 2… it set up the rest of MCU phases 4-6!
i wish Loki got to do anything in the season finale of his own show. it was all about Sylvie and her decision, you could have cut Loki out of the whole episode and it wouldnt change anything

This show is so good and so are the characters. Considering how Sylvie couldn't put her revenge aside (understandably) Ravonna and her blind faith in the TVA makes her "good person"(?), but so many interesting plot points left open.

So, the flaming sword that Kid Loki gave to Loki is named Lævateinn.
It’s the same name as a weapon from the Prose Edda poem: Fjölsvinnsmál. The poem isn’t clear if Lævateinn is a sword, wand, or dart. However, it is the only weapon that will kill the golden rooster, Víðópnir, who sits on the crown of the tree of the world, Mímameiðr.

The thing that breaks my heart is that Sylvie realizes she's damaged. On some level she knows killing HWR won't really ease her pain--but she cannot NOT kill him. Not after all she's been through. You can see it at the end, with her falling to her knees, empty. Knowing Loki was right and she was wrong in some sense even as she acted...
And yet I think in the end she did exactly what she'd been planning. She FREED the universe, freed hundreds of thousands of millions of billions of trillions of quadrillions of worlds from being slaughtered over and over again--just to keep a Sociopath safe (and HWR is obviously a sociopath).
All those branches in the timeline? They are BEAUTIFUL beyond words. They are HOPE.

My only complaint about Loki is that it treats time travel and the multiverse like they’re the same thing.
If Kang "He Who Remains" is using the same Quantum Device Stark built (hence what the Avengers did was supposed to happen) then Time Travel and Multiversal Jumping can be one and the same thing, through the Quantum Realm.
i find it very scientifically accurate.
like of course if u time travel another branch timeline will appear.
like the avengers said that changing the past doesn't change the future its actually a misconception and the avengers doesn't know that it creates a different timeline.
The issue I have is how despite needing them to be totally different they sometimes conflate parallel dimensions (alternate timelines due to decision making) and multiverse (alternate universes, where you end up with species variation).
This... this is what changes the entire MCU and puts it on the track of what is going to happen in the next couple of phases. WandaVision was great, but this shapes the entire thing.
Also... this isn't our Loki. This Loki was the same up through the end of The Avengers movie then he branched off from ours. He watched the highlights reel of that Loki's life, and that would have changed him, but not in the same way that living through his mother dying, working with Thor, pretending to be Odin, Odin dying, the time on Sackar. None of that happened to this one. He is a different loki in a different way.
