Over 43 years of gaming here. RDR2 was the absolute best story of any game I have ever played and I have played 1,000's upon 1000's of titles since Pong on the Atari 2600. Very few games left me that emotional through it's main character. Also, Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War possibly are the best games I have played in 4 decades and I'm an old school Legend of Zelda cat.
Im 38 years old, and i played almost every game and every console since atari.. RDR is a great game, but for me, there is nothing better than TLOU 1 and 2, everything was just awsome.. from the graphics, and game play to the amazing story
Coming from the 80s, i cant even compute how they managed to program rdr2. It just blew my top, the thing is a serious power display, even if youre not into gaming.

I just love the way it ended. It was so satisfying to see Nathan Drake finally be able to take something from his treasure raids and sail off into the sunset with plenty stories from his legacy to tell.

Great list man. The PS4 has some of my favorite games of all time for sure. Uncharted 4 brought me the same emotions that it brought you and to this day is still one of my favorite gaming experiences I've had. There's no denying the master class lineup of exclusives the ps4 has even with some under rated titles like Gravity Rush 1 and 2. Overall this generation has rarely disappointed me
Uncharted 4 is my all-time favourite game, absolutely incredible and epic, it’s so replayable too. I played it at least 10 times through (whilst applying mods, renders and skins, ofc)
Yeah Uncharted 4 was a fantastic ending to the series, and hearing that music. Brings back the feelings i had when playing it. I also loved the Gravity Rush games

Alright I'm not gonna lie, watching this vid got me a little choked up at times. This basically served as a tour through so many great memories of the games I played on PS4 through the years. Each time a game I loved was mentioned, and music from the soundtrack played, I was hit HARD with nostalgia. I wish I could play many of these games all over again like it was the first time. Thanks for this vid, Robin! It was tremendous, and very much worth the wait.
The Uncharted games have brought such a positive impact to my life, it's difficult not feel nostalgic whenever I hear it's main theme, or taking in some gameplay footage. To this day, the Uncharted series continues to uphold number one in my favorites 🙌

I wouldn't say Kratos was a one dimensional character, he had his reasons for always being angry. The Greek era games weren't just about anger but also guilt and failing to forgive oneself. There were many times in which he showed emotion. The gods kidnapped his brother and had him imprisoned, his mom was cursed which led to her death, he was tricked and killed his family, and served the gods for 10 years only for them not to remove his nightmares. One-dimensional may indeed not be the right word, but his entire character in the other games is based around anger. It gets tiresome eventually and leads to the spectacle/bosses/gameplay being a much bigger reason to love God of War than Kratos himself. I think the new game changed that and made them all equally as important :)

I really like the Soulsborne games. From the Dark Souls franchise to Bloodborne, Sekiro and Elden Ring their quality never lets down. They are really masterpieces.
I'm still watching, but I need to commend you and give credit for what you've done here. I thought it was going to be just another top ## list with generic background music just listing a bunch of games with little to say of each one just saying it was great and critically acclaimed. I am so happy that I was wrong. There's so much variety, genuine love and appreciation for the games you've played with anecdotes and straight-to-the-point descriptions of what the game has to offer without spoiling it's greatness and just enough to keep you interested. The music is from the game's official sound track, which seems obvious to do but when you have 50 games in your list, no doubt one or a few generic background songs would've been easier for you. I just love this. This is incredible. This gave me insight for the way you look at games as you see them just for how they are and not for anything else. I need to adopt this perspective and stop expecting things from games. Great job with this video. I'm sure this took you a while to make, but you should be very proud of what you've accomplished. Though I don't understand why AC Odyssey or Witcher 3 didn't make this list. I enjoyed watching the video and I completely understand your perspective. I'm not the type to go with the hype that surrounds most games and my best games are usually not people's best games so it kinda feels like I made the list myself. This is the first time I will come across this channel and I can't wait to check your other videos. Good job. By the way, when I mentioned Witcher 3, I didn't mean to criticize. I have had the game for more than a year because of the hype and I haven't played more than three hours of it.
One thing I’ve noticed while looking at all the comments is how often PS4 exclusives come up in people’s lists. Seeing The Last of Us, Uncharted 4, God of War, Bloodborne, Spider-Man, etc. is so awesome, because it really proves that PlayStation won this console generation. Sony really did a great job with exclusive licenses.
Infamous Second Son was the first in the series for me and I loved it...I can not wait for more. I just loved that feeling of going from the street level to the roof tops and kicking ass the whole way. I played through that game twice. Once evil and once good.
Finally, having Uncharted - A thief's end at the top makes sense. I had been wondering how come games like Dead Redemption 2 or The Last of Us are usually rated above Uncharted - A theif's end. Thank you for an awesome list. I realise there are quite a few games on this list i need to try out. Will keep my PS4 busy for quite sometime before I consider moving to PS5.

Great video. Love these kinds of lists. I haven't played nearly as many games as you but here are my PS4 favs: 1. Witcher 3 2. Bloodborne 3. AC4 (loved the water) 4. Fallout 4 (b/c power armor mostly, also enjoyed the base building and i happen to like digging through trashcans for screws and fiber optics) 5. Dying Light (b/c running from volatiles at night) 6. HZD (b/c robot dinosaurs and storytime) 7. InFamous SS (Actually felt that Delsin grew on me, kinda liked the story) 8. MGS V (Wanted more out of the story, was super repetitive, but what was there was still pretty epic) (oh and boobs too) 9. Just Cause 3 (Wingsuit) 10. Tie between Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Mafia 3. Games that could have been great if they had a little more variety and were deeper in the story department. Also really liked Oxenfree.
That's a good list. Every game you listed was better than Uncharted 4. Deus Ex is better than Mafia 3, but Mafia 3 is sort of underrated, as it's the best Mafia game in my book.
@WWE 4 life I haven't played UC4 yet. It's sitting on my shelf. I agree Mafia 3 was repetitive as hell but there were parts of it i really liked. It had a lot of potential.

Appreciate you giving some love to DriveClub and The Order two extremely underappreciated games that deserved so much better and deserved sequels or in DriveClub situation, should have never resulted in the studios closure right at the start of a brand new generation, very short sightedness by Sony.
@@brendanboudreaux7877 Yes the game was very short but what was there was an extremely polished (probably the most polished game of the generation still out of the box). It's clear Ready at Dawn ran out of time with the game as I can imagine they spent a lot of time making their game engine which took away from the actual game development. But the world and characters they created deserved a sequel with an online Co-op compartment. Ready at Dawn is highly talented maybe even more in certain areas than Naughty Dog. I just hope Sony recruits them again for another PS5 exclusive. They were way too quick to burn Bridges with developers / studios at the start of the generation.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Red Dead Redemption 2 is honestly everything that I wanted to a sequel to my favourite game of all time, Red Dead Redemption 1 despite the few flaws such as the shooting mechanics, some of the mission structures, and consistently with realism sometimes. I think the story, open world, and characters make it all up in my opinion and epilogue is just fan services to the people that played Red Dead Redemption 1 and it was just a emotional rollercoaster for me playing through this game blind for me. I’m going to pretend that the online doesn’t exist to me though...
@@JacobOlli First when I played Deus Ex mankind divided, I didn't liked it. Then, I gave it another chance few days ago. I thought it was okay. If you are a stealth fan then it's solid.
While I'm not sure if Uncharted 4 is also my #1 game this gen, it left a huge impact on me emotionally and physically. I bought the game on Day 1 and didn't get around to playing it until 8 months later, mainly because I had a funny feeling it would be the last chapter for Nathan Drake. When I got to the end about a month after finally starting it I teared up at how amazing and satisfying the game was, I was emotional and didn't want it to end. After seeing the Uncharted cast on stage at PSX 2017 for the 10th anniversary it made me want an Uncharted 5 more than ever. It's hard to let go of those characters, especially after growing up with them from Uncharted: Drake's Fortune all the way to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
I know this was a personal list for you but I strongly feel Horizon: Zero Dawn deserves a higher ranking. For me it's the best PS4 game of all time, everything about it is beautiful.

Horizon Zero Dawn is pretty overrated. It’s good but there are many games I know better than it. Also if that’s the best combat you missed a lot of games with great combat 😂🤣. Also it’s an opinion, more importantly HIS opinion. The real crime is that Persona 5 isn’t even in the top 50.

Wow I have 93 PS4 games but I only own 24 titles out of these 50 games on your list. This generation surely has great games especially for PS4. I really can't tell if I can finish all the games I have before PS5 release since I only counted 36 games I've completed so far. I even haven't bought any games yet released since 2019 started. I wish I can be young again to just play games without worrying life.

Steve you clearly aren’t a fan of cowboys and the rpg genre. Red dead 2 is one of the best games of all time with hundreds of different interactions, animals to hunt and the breathtaking scenery.
Almost forgot to mention some of the best dialogue and narrative in recent history of games. Really makes you feel like you’re apart of the universe it’s set in.

Bloodborne was a game I gave up on twice, left alone for a year and then came back and put 600 hours into it to max everything out

Great list man. The PS4 has some of my favorite games of all time for sure. Uncharted 4 brought me the same emotions that it brought you and to this day is still one of my favorite gaming experiences I've had. There's no denying the master class lineup of exclusives the ps4 has even with some under rated titles like Gravity Rush 1 and 2. Overall this generation has rarely disappointed me
Uncharted 4 is my all-time favourite game, absolutely incredible and epic, it’s so replayable too. I played it at least 10 times through (whilst applying mods, renders and skins, ofc)
Yeah Uncharted 4 was a fantastic ending to the series, and hearing that music. Brings back the feelings i had when playing it. I also loved the Gravity Rush games

Alright I'm not gonna lie, watching this vid got me a little choked up at times. This basically served as a tour through so many great memories of the games I played on PS4 through the years. Each time a game I loved was mentioned, and music from the soundtrack played, I was hit HARD with nostalgia. I wish I could play many of these games all over again like it was the first time. Thanks for this vid, Robin! It was tremendous, and very much worth the wait.

I wouldn't say Kratos was a one dimensional character, he had his reasons for always being angry. The Greek era games weren't just about anger but also guilt and failing to forgive oneself. There were many times in which he showed emotion. The gods kidnapped his brother and had him imprisoned, his mom was cursed which led to her death, he was tricked and killed his family, and served the gods for 10 years only for them not to remove his nightmares. I can go into more details but this video does a lot better with explaining it.

One-dimensional may indeed not be the right word, but his entire character in the other games is based around anger. It gets tiresome eventually and leads to the spectacle/bosses/gameplay being a much bigger reason to love God of War than Kratos himself. I think the new game changed that and made them all equally as important :)

I really like the Soulsborne games. From the Dark Souls franchise to Bloodborne, Sekiro and Elden Ring their quality never lets down. They are really masterpieces.
I'm still watching, but I need to commend you and give credit for what you've done here. I thought it was going to be just another top ## list with generic background music just listing a bunch of games with little to say of each one just saying it was great and critically acclaimed.
I am so happy that I was wrong. There's so much variety, genuine love and appreciation for the games you've played with anecdotes and straight-to-the-point descriptions of what the game has to offer without spoiling it's greatness and just enough to keep you interested.
The music is from the game's official sound track, which seems obvious to do but when you have 50 games in your list, no doubt one or a few generic background songs would've been easier for you.
I just love this. This is incredible. This gave me insight for the way you look at games as you see them just for how they are and not for anything else. I need to adopt this perspective and stop expecting things from games.

I'm not the type to go with the hype that surrounds most games and my best games are usually not people's best games so it kinda feels like I made the list myself. This is the first time I will come across this channel and I can't wait to check your other videos. Good job. By the way, when I mentioned Witcher 3, I didn't mean to criticize. Yeah I haven’t played blood borne the games on my list are the only ps4 games I have but they’re all fun.
One thing I’ve noticed while looking at all the comments is how often PS4 exclusives come up in people’s lists. Seeing The Last of Us, Uncharted 4, God of War, Bloodborne, Spider-Man, etc. is so awesome, because it really proves that PlayStation won this console generation. Sony really did a great job with exclusive licenses.

Finally, having Uncharted - A thief's end at the top makes sense. I had been wondering how come games like Dead Redemption 2 or The Last of Us are usually rated above Uncharted - A theif's end. 3. AC4 (loved the water)
4. Fallout 4 (b/c power armor mostly, also enjoyed the base building and i happen to like digging through trashcans for screws and fiber optics)
5. Dying Light (b/c running from volatiles at night)
6. HZD (b/c robot dinosaurs and storytime)
7. InFamous SS (Actually felt that Delsin grew on me, kinda liked the story)
8. MGS V (Wanted more out of the story, was super repetitive, but what was there was still pretty epic) (oh and boobs too)
9. Just Cause 3 (Wingsuit)
10. Tie between Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Mafia 3. Games that could have been great if they had a little more variety and were deeper in the story department. Also really liked Oxenfree.

Appreciate you giving some love to DriveClub and The Order two extremely underappreciated games that deserved so much better and deserved sequels or in DriveClub situation, should have never resulted in the studios closure right at the start of a brand new generation, very short sightedness by Sony.

@@brendanboudreaux7877 Yes the game was very short but what was there was an extremely polished (probably the most polished game of the generation still out of the box). It's clear Ready at Dawn ran out of time with the game as I can imagine they spent a lot of time making their game engine which took away from the actual game development. But the world and characters they created deserved a sequel with an online Co-op compartment.
Ready at Dawn is highly talented maybe even more in certain areas than Naughty Dog. I just hope Sony recruits them again for another PS5 exclusive. They were way too quick to burn Bridges with developers / studios at the start of the generation.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is honestly everything that I wanted to a sequel to my favourite game of all time, Red Dead Redemption 1 despite the few flaws such as the shooting mechanics, some of the mission structures, and consistently with realism sometimes. I think the story, open world, and characters make it all up in my opinion and epilogue is just fan services to the people that played Red Dead Redemption 1 and it was just a emotional rollercoaster for me playing through this game blind for me. I’m going to pretend that the online doesn’t exist to me though...
Glad i gave Deus Ex another chance, i loved it.

RDR2 is a fucking masterpiece man..
While I'm not sure if Uncharted 4 is also my #1 game this gen, it left a huge impact on me emotionally and physically. I bought the game on Day 1 and didn't get around to playing it until 8 months later, mainly because I had a funny feeling it would be the last chapter for Nathan Drake.
When I got to the end about a month after finally starting it I teared up at how amazing and satisfying the game was, I was emotional and didn't want it to end. After seeing the Uncharted cast on stage at PSX 2017 for the 10th anniversary it made me want an Uncharted 5 more than ever. It's hard to let go of those characters, especially after growing up with them from Uncharted: Drake's Fortune all the way to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
I know this was a personal list for you but I strongly feel Horizon: Zero Dawn deserves a higher ranking. For me it's the best PS4 game of all time, everything about it is beautiful.

I appreciate you for making this. It’s great to get a little preview of what these games look like while playing. I’m trying to broaden my horizons and adopt different game genres onto my PlayStation. 90% of these are being added to my wishlist and when the price is right I’ll buy.

Horizon Zero Dawn is pretty overrated. It’s good but there are many games I know better than it. Also if that’s the best combat you missed a lot of games with great combat 😂🤣. Also it’s an opinion, more importantly HIS opinion.
The real crime is that Persona 5 isn’t even in the top 50.
Bloodborne is easily the best one for me. The lore, the difficulty, the atmosphere and most importantly, the gameplay. Absolutely beautiful.

Wow I have 93 PS4 games but I only own 24 titles out of these 50 games on your list. This generation surely has great games especially for PS4. I really can't tell if I can finish all the games I have before PS5 release since I only counted 36 games I've completed so far. I even haven't bought any games yet released since 2019 started. I wish I can be young again to just play games without worrying life.

So two months I watched the making of TLoU Remastered... A friend introduced me I just had to buy it... I'm not the player at home... I have finished it, plus Left behind, I am now way deep into Horizon Zero Dawn - and dipping in and out of The Order... I can't get enough. I am a novice, so would encourage people to try PS4

Yeah i bought it Day 1 and didn't regret it. I recently when back and played some chapters, and i think it's indeed the best looking game on PS4. I really hope for a sequel some day

@@hunster_5533 I agree I thought HZD had one best story this gen, red dead 2 along with witcher3 and bloodbourne or my overall top 3. It's interesting to see everyone different opinions I personally disagree with must of this list like watch dogs and Detroit being higher then HZD I don't think the stories in these games were anywhere near as interesting as HZD. At least god of war got a decent spot though.

Steve you clearly aren’t a fan of cowboys and the rpg genre. Red dead 2 is one of the best games of all time with hundreds of different interactions, animals to hunt and the breathtaking scenery.
Almost forgot to mention some of the best dialogue and narrative in recent history of games. Really makes you feel like you’re apart of the universe it’s set in.
