Bee Gees stand for The Brothers, Gibb. They were brothers. Barry, the oldest; the one in the middle; Robin on Barry's right, and Maurice on Barry's left. Robin and Maurice were twins. Another impressive fact about their music; this was before Auto Tune. This is what they REALLY sounded like. So glad you enjoyed them.

@@RobSquadReactions - You need to hear Robin's voice. Amazing range and vibrato. He said he sang with his heart, not his voice and sang many of their earlier hits. Barry said Robin's voice was "killer" and Maurice said Robin's voice "Grabbed your heart". Very unique. A good choice, "I Started a joke" live in Melbourne 1989. "Bodyguard" is another great Robin lead. All three brothers could sing falsetto and had tremendous range. They wrote over 1000 songs for themselves and people like Streisand, Diana Ross, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, Dionne Warwick, Celine Dion.

I grew up listening to the Bee Gees, & you have no idea how happy it makes me, to see the younger generation discover the music we fell in love with !!! All three brothers had amazing falsetto's, however, Barry Gibb, in my opinion, has the most unique falsetto, because in his falsetto, he also used his vibrato, which is very rare! Thank you so much for this! They were brothers, & Barry is the last one, but please review more of their music, you will not be disappointed. They span over many decades, & crossed quite a few genres 😍 I also believe, that if there is music in Heaven, it would sound like the Bee Gee's ❤️❤️❤️ I would love you to start closer to their beginnings in the late 60's & work your way up to their more current.

The boys first live performance was @ Gaumont Cinema, Manchester, 1956. Barry was 10, and fraternal twins Robin & Maurice were 7.
The family moved to Australia and in 1959, the boys were discovered by racing driver Bill Goode and DJ Bill Gates, along with Barry Gibbs and mother Barbara Gibbs, named the boys The BGs; eventually stylized *The Bee Gees* and standing for _The Brothers Gibb._
They performed *Blowing In The Wind* on Australian TV in 1963. (on yt)
Their first hit record, *Spicks & Specks,* (on yt) was in Australia 1966.
Rbt Stigwood, partner of Brian Epstein (Beatles mgr) signed the brothers to a 5yr contract in Feb 1967.
The end result was the record _The Bee Gees 1st_ which contained their first international hit with folk ballad *New York Mining Disaster of 1941.* (on yt) From there The Bee Gees' destiny as music legends was inevitable.

Yeah. Barry, with the lion's mane, was beautiful. They were brothers. That's why their voices blended so well. It was instinct. They had MANY great songs. They wrote for themselves, and others. By the time they did this song, they had been writing music for 20 years. So their catalogue is pretty vast. Even though they were young, some of their first songs were just as moving as this one. These brothers had an ethereal talent that visits earth only once in a very great while. Sadly, Barry, who was the oldest, is the only one still alive.

Seeing the look on your face when Barry (the oldest Gibb brother) hits those notes is priceless. Barry had an amazing falsetto that no one could copy. Now you need to check out Staying Alive by them from the 1977 movie Saturday Night Fever. They personified the late 70's disco era.

These brothers are amazing. When they were little they used to sing in their bedroom. I heard a story that one day their mother thought they had the radio on. It wasn’t the radio it was her three sons singing and harmonizing together.
They are a one-of-a-kind group. I adore these guys.

5 decades, over 100 hit songs, and wrote hit songs for other artists. The Bee Gees are vastly under appreciated because of their disco era hits (which are AWESOME). Please sample a bit from all decades; these guys knew how to fit their sound into many genres. Also listen to Andy Gibb - Barry wrote most of his songs & the brothers sang back up for him.

My bedroom walls were covered with them all through the 70's, and yes, Barry in the center was a sex symbol, still is. Sadly the other two brothers have passed away. I love them just as much today. I even saw them live in 1978. They began singing and harmonizing together and performing on tv shows as kids in the late 1950's. Enjoyed your reaction, but they had many different sounds through their career as well as writing #1 songs for other artists. They are one of the top groups in history of chart hits.

Back in the day, we didn’t SEE very much of the singer or musicians like today, but we heard their songs on the radio or bought singles or albums to play on stereos . Yes, Barry was handsome, but their music is what stood out, and BeeGees rocked!

  • @dortheyc5276

It's like they invented harmony. Live band, no auto tune, no computerized voice enhancement and one mic for all three of them. Back then (1979). singing was just pure, raw talent. By the date of this recording, the BeeGees had already been singing together professionally for 21 years when Barry was 12 years old and the twins were just 9. All of the Gibb brothers including little brother, Andy, could sing in that amazing falsetto voice. But Barry was the master. He was able to exorcise more control over it. The Gibbs were, in my opinion, the most multi-talented families in music history. They wrote their own songs as well as writing songs for many other musical greats. This song was included on a compilation album to benefit UNICEF. There were many artists who recorded songs on the album, but the BeeGees gave all the royalties from this song in any form. In, at that time, an unprecedented move, they also gave UNICEF the publishing rights to Too Much Heaven. To date, Too Much Heaven has raised over 11 million dollars for UNICEF. In 1967, they wrote a song called To Love Somebody which appeared on their third album titled BeeGees 1st, but their first internationally, as the first two albums were only released in Australia. BeeGees 1st was released in July '67. Otis Redding was set to record To Love Somebody on his next album. Sadly, Otis was killed in a plane crash, Dec 10,1967. I thought for the longest time that they didn't record it themselves until after the death of Otis Redding. Their brother Andy Gibb had a very successful solo career as well until his death on March 10,1988. Just 5 days after turning 30. Andy had developed myocarditis, inflammation of the heart, which was brought on by a viral infection While most people recover from myocarditis, Andy's body was unable to fight the infection due to his history of drug use. Soo sad! The 1st time I heard this song, I was 15 years old. I was sitting on the floor in our living room. They sang with so much emotion that I had tears running down my face. It didn't hurt that before this I found out that Barry and I shared the same birthday, me in 1963 and him in 1946. While I was crying, my daddy came in and told me to knock it off or he'd change the channel. He was mean.
