This is a great video. Just replaced my Toshiba 1TB HDD with a 512GB SSD. The video was extremely helpful, especially the ribbon cable part. I would have definitely broken something if I had tried it on my own :). The laptop performance with the SSD is incredible, especially the startup! Thank you very much!!

I purchased this back in 2017 for $649. I didn't really care about getting a DELL that was on the bleeding edge as much as just getting one that was a little more powerful. Looking up the specs, not only can this be upgraded to 16GBs, It can take up to a SATA 3.0 SSD. So, it's pretty future proofed for the time being.

regarding your question: Oh boi i will only tell you , the surprise that you will get will get you so mad, to not have upgraded to ssd since day 1. the differences are so much that its not fair to compare and insult the ssd with hdd.
lets say from 1 to 10 as speed , hdd would be 2 and the ssd would be on 9, the reason i dont go 10 because we have nvme ssd too.

regarding your question: yes you can absolutely fine , just once cloning is done and you place the ssd and in the windows, don't be shocked if you see the SSD (drive c) only 256GB (it should be 320GB) , all you need to do its go to "disk manager "
you need to press Windows Key + R. Now, type diskmgmt.msc , and hit the Enter
then you will see an extra space in BLACk and can right click on C or on black partition and do extend.

I'm very certain, 100%, that you skipped the beginning of the video where I explained that there won't be any Windows installed on the new SSD. I also provided information about what you can do and shared links.
The new drive does not come with Windows pre-installed; therefore, you will need to install Windows using a USB boot drive. You can find the link in the video description. I have created two videos-one on how to create a Windows USB boot drive and another on how to install it.
I hope this clarifies the information for you.

🫠Regarding your question, get a 2.5" HDD enclosure and use it as external storage for backup, and keep it in a safe box. Mechanical drives (HDD) are the best for long-term file storage, while SSDs are not suitable for long-term storage as they can eventually lose data over time.
