    I am older guy, I have owned Hi-po 289, Legit Boss 302 crate motor in a maverick, 351w, 5.0 and cleveland, 390, 427, and built 428cj FE, 429scj, 4.6 2v & 3v, Gen 2 coyote. Rare can be really cool and a real pain in the pocket and in just finding parts I owned a 66 Mercury Cyclone GT Holman Moody Edition that had 427 side oiler, fiberglass hood, fenders, deck lid and aluminum bumpers. I didn't know it at the time but it was one of eleven, should not have even been driving it let alone racing it but it was another time. A built coyote with all the shortblock upgrades and cams and boost can make 1000 rwhp without hardy breaking a sweat. As you said everyone is making aftermarket parts for them now, which to an old Ford gear head is something that I never experienced with most of my Ford motors, it was either Ford performance parts or custom stuff. I once bought pistons for one of my FE projects that you could buy a complete LS motor for. Is what it is. I have owned rare and plentiful, I prefer plentiful because more can be done with same money when more parts are available.

    I have a 04 Mystichrome Conv.Cobra, I liked your video. The one thing about a Termi is that if you have never driven, rode or owned one then you haven’t experienced one of the iconic cars in American history. The versatility of the motor is still ahead of its time still today. I have a 3.2LC Mammoth Kenne Bell with 3 different power level tunes. 640rwhp-93 oct + torco, 683rwhp-e85, 798rwhp-e85 + pulley swap. They are conservative tunes from Kurgan Motorsports. These motors can handle up to about 1100hp. A lot of motors today can’t handle that straight from the factory and these motors are 16 and 17 years old. They are one of a kind.....Rare.

    I’ve crushed many coyotes, terminators, and vettes with my old school set up. 331, V3si, and TKO600. Very few cars with 600+ hp hook up, especially on the street. With those tires and that stance you’ll be bus lengths behind me. Suspension and traction is everything. Push rod all day! Megasquirt or Holley and it’s dead nuts reliable.

      Push rod motors cannot dollar for dollar match the output of overhead cam motors. I have owned built FE motors that made more than 600 rwhp and the money I had in those motors would buy your whole car. It's why Ford developed the 427 SOHC in the sixties because even the hemis could not develop the hp and torque that that motor made but they were hand made and available to only Ford sponsored racers. I could have bought a new in crate 427 SOHC in 1981 for $4500, that's like $50k today. A boosted coyote will leave you in the dust. Why is Ford running a highly modified one in their Cobra Jets? Because it is the best they have and why Pro Stock will not let them run it because Mopar and GM can't keep up with it in full race trim. Push rod engines as much as I love them are in the past when it comes to producing hp and torque big numbers.

    • @3pedalfox
      @3pedalfox 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Kenneth Chapman I agree with you 100% on modular motors out performing pushrod motors. But stock block 302 engines can still get the job done. My set up has for many years. Combinations are more than just throwing a blower or turbo on an engine. It takes more than that to actually make a car run well. I will be swapping a Coyote into my fox. The reason why is because, for the amount of money you can build a Dart based engine, you can buy 75% of the parts needed for a swap.

    Termi motor hands down, pushing the 390 in horsepower, honestly I would say that was a bit underrated. From 2001 to 2003 for terminators there was only a gain of 70 horsepower compared to the 99/01 naturally-aspirated 320. Just cranking the boost a little bit knocking on the door for 400 was really easy. I've seen a couple of people with 2003 and 2004 Cobra terminators pushing in the hi 500 horsepower to lo 600-horsepower range, still using the factory Eaton blower, really not too bad you ask me. Actually kind of looking into the hole Stroker thing with the teksid blocks, seen a video off of 1320 videos some guy had a compound boosted / Terminator, everything was pretty much was still stock, running a ported Eaton stock blower also with a pair of turbskies. Doing roll races I found that it was interesting kind of have an idea where I kind of want to go with my Mustang

If you think a coyote swap is cheaper that’s totally false. To build a quality car it’s gone be the same. You have to buy the same stuff to swap either one so not cheaper. Lastly gen1 motors will hold 700 all day. I know that for a fact cause I’ve done it. Like I said no hate just a fact check.

      I've been sitting at 650 to wheels with a gen1 for a few years now. It's never been opened up, just a 2.3L PD blower and some injectors/fuel pump. I daily it and beat the hell out of it almost daily and it still runs like it's brand new. If I switch to E85 it will probably be right at 700, but I'll save that for the car is no longer my daily. As long as you have a good tune and don't slap the limiter it'll be fine.

      The terminators were making 1000 rwhp with turbos and fuel system upgrades on completely stock long blocks years before the coyote even existed. The terminator is as stout a motor as ford has ever made and that is a fact. I also prefer the sound of both the terminator and gt500 motors over the coyote (07-14 5.4/5.8 gt500 NOT the predator that is basically a factory modded coyote with the same firing order that makes it sound different). I love the coyotes my next mustang i add to the collection will have one because i wanna own and build a coyote never have. I prefer the sound of the old pre coyote 4v mod motors they shared the same firing order as the old fox bodies and the windsor motors). They sound so freakin mean. That is another point when comparing the two engines that he didnt even mention. The terminator has a more raw untamed old school feeling....im talkin bout the engine and the way it makes power. Even when both are running a tvs blower around the same power level the cobra usually has more torque and it has it lower down in the power band which gives it an awesome feel on the street (not that the coyotes dont have a great feel too). Its just preference as far as stuff like that but all this stuff factors into it. Plus like he said he likes being different and so do i. I dont wanna just have the same thing 500000 other ppl have that was one factor for me when i got my 07 gt500. I was cross shopping them and coyote cars and i found a good deal on an 07 shelby so i got it and i am so glad that i did. These cars sound so old school and mean. The gt500s and terminators were built in the same vein. Same kinda character.

      @midnight347 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont beleive that. The terminator and coyote can get up to pretty high hp levels on completely stock longblocks whereas most ls stuff you gotta have other engine mods to achieve that the 4v dohc ford motors were basically made for boost. The ls might have an edge all motor because of raw displacement (they have to be significantly larger in displacement to have said edge) although cube for cube the coyotes are hard to deal with all motor. The terminators have literally made 1000 rwhp on stock longblocks nothing else touched just power adder and fuel system mods. They was doing this years before the coyote even existed and some people fail to remenber this shit. The coyote guys are always on here beating their chests acting superior to the terminators too but really the terminator had the stoutest bottom end ever put into a mustang. It literally has forged manly h beam rods from the factory. The new coyotes can make big power but them rods are not as good as the terminators rods and that is a fact. The terminator is rare only 19000 total made so of course an engine is gonna be more costly by comparison...but it can make some big power on an untouched long block and its one of the meanest sounding motors ever created. This is coming from an 07 gt500 owner. The 5.4 4v in my car is a badass engine too and its better than the terminator in alot of ways but the connecting rods is def not one of those things. The gt500 has powdered forged rods like the newer coyotes have. Its pretty good and can take some power but not as much ultimately as a terminator is capable of on stock bottom. The gt500s have been pushed to 1000 rwhp with turbos on stock motors too but i personally would trust a terminator motor more at 1000 than a gt500 motor because of the stout ass manly h beam rods they have. Im gonna build mine budget minded with a blower swap and im going manly h beam rods as well. Wish my car came with them factory. Its a good excuse to raise the low ass compression these cars have up though.

      @@midnight347 why would you up the compression when you are going to boost it? You want low compression so you can run more boost. I have a 1990 coupe coyote 98 cobra 09 shelby and a tt Ls 69 Camaro. You won't get anywhere near 1000 hp stock bottom end with blowing up the engine with the the exception of the LS. AROUND 800 with the coyote, my shelby gt500 made a little over 800 before it started to fall apart my 98 cobra is stock. My LS easily makes 1000 hp and I don't have any problems. It has AFR heads comp cam ARP head studs and that's it for the mechanical. I've had to pour tons of money into my Fords to make the same HP. Like I said, LS is still King.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertelee6712 because 8.4:1 is really low and you can make more power with higher compression. Im going up to 9.7:1 its probably on the edge of pump but im gonna use boostane. You can go even higher todays tuning doesnt require ya to run super low compression like the old days that is a misconception. You need to raise your octane but ya need to do that anyways if youre gonna be makin some big time power imo. If you can run e85 or something else badass like that you can go like 11:1 or better on these engines and its so much better. They make a ton more power with some compression in em.

    The Terminator is a killer. It is a true purpose built engine with decent internals. Ford SVT threw in everything but the kitchen sink and never really profited. Unlike the Ford Coyote and GM LS, the Terminator wasn’t about profit or cost cutting, it was about performance, potential and the ability to hold up well with significant modifications. Reading through the forums you’ll find plenty of claims close to 200mph, probably faster than what the SN195 is made to run but they do it. I think the stock Horsepower was somewhere around 415hp or close.

    Carrillo internals is what makes the Terminator a badass motor. G1 was trash lol no argument. G2 is a tad better and G3 is good but you better sleeve it. It has more reinforcement vs G2 does but that plasma coating can be all over the place. The oil pump gear failure is from two step, limiter and bad harmonics from centrifugal super chargers. Plenty of stock block G2+ making 1200hp+
