Very nice video, it has answered many questions that most other swap videos from other content providers leave out. I have had my eye on a 07 Shelby GT (Not GT500) that is priced well, and high mileage, but the body is mint. This swap would be really cool in that type of vehicle. Especially since the Shelby has some really well put together suspension pieces and 3.55s. Again great vid!
some long picks make getting the clutch line off easy. i had to do it twice because i guess I crunched my plastic elbow when i did my clutch and it was leaking. bought a stock line with new elbow. Also dropping the mid pipe makes getting to the clutch line easier.🤣you can unbolt that ac accumulator and get more room to get to that fuel line.
I’ve been looking for an alternative to building a BMW and stumbled across this. I’ve always liked the look of the 3v Mustangs but they had no guts to them. Adding a 5.0 will solve that issue, and it being a 3-2-1 Coyote with cams and boss intake manifold
This will be a long comment, and I hope to get some of your input and honest advice. I have a 2012 Mustang GT with a Vortech V3 setup. I recently posted it up for sale and had a very interesting trade offer offered up to me. Two Mustangs for one deal, which definitely peaked my interested. He has a 2009 45th anniversary car that is Paxton Novi 1200 supercharged but relatively stock besides minor bolts ons. And the other car is what really gets my attention... A Procharged Coyote swapped 3v. It's also EPAS swapped and MT-82 swapped. It seems like a lot of the heavy lifting with the swap is already done. And he said it's powered by a Ford Control Pack I believe. It has the stock injectors in it right now and has never ran more than a minute without shutting off. But it does run. At the very minimum I know it will need injectors and a re-tune. He also said it needs a module to adapt up to the factory gauges to have a functional tach, speedo, etc. The car seems to be very clean and has a lot of nice mods that I can visually spot (he has pics of a clutch install with the McCleod RXT), stainless steel clutch line, BBK longtube headers, Boss 302 intake, aluminum 1 piece driveshaft, BMR control arms, etc. He claims it has OPGs but no paperwork, so I always assume with no paperwork it probably doesn't. So my question is, would it seem like a worthy trade to you? In my eyes it does, but I have a lot of friends telling me it's too much of a project. But even if it does end up being a larger project than portrayed, I still end up with another 3v that is fully driveable until I can get the Coyote swapped car on the road. It just seems like the hardest work has already been done and it just needs the minor fine tuning right now. Which also makes me wonder... It's this far put together, so why stop with injectors and a tune? There's a lot of variables but it seems like a gamble worth taking, imo. Anyways, awesome video and content and I hope you have a good one
Short answer. Yes. Seems worth the trade. Can always ditch the control pack use my methods seen on this channel. Many have done just that even mid swap
@@MattSoppaI've seen the plug and play harness on your site and it seems like the best way to go. I'm assuming I'd need a 11-14 Mustang PCM for it to work? Or is it not compatible to work in-line with the Ford Control Packs. I haven't seen the car in person yet, but I'm hoping none of the factory wiring hasn't been cut up. He did mention something about needing to run a wire to the MT-82 to activate the reverse lights. I'm thinking it's definitely a good bones type of car, and it's literally at the home stretch of being completed haha
Where did you get the lifting brackets and will be ordering that harness from you very soon for the Gen1 with MT-82 going into a 2007 S197. Did you use the driveshaft from the 3V trans or the MT-82?
Just came across your video and I’ve been debating buying a GT 06-08 and doing this swap. Thanks for the info and I will keep you in mind for info. Do you have a website I can visit? Thanks in advance.
This is awesome🔥🔥🔥. Question though, I have a v6 s197 and I want to do the exact same thing… is there any major problems or parts in going to need to get?
Our swap harness works with both V6 and GT models. With a V6 you’re going to need a transmission for sure driveshaft and rear axle. Plus if you want AC to function some lines and compressor from a 4.6 car
@@dylancremona6509 wire wise no they’re different. We are developing 04-10 F150 harnesses tho. If you’re asking if you can use an F150 11-14 5.0 then yes you can
How much do you think you have spent putting this together? I just bought a low mile s197 gt myself and I really like the chassis, feels good to me and well put together. Was thinking of getting another one for a project like this.
Do the coyote stock headers bolt up to the 3v exhaust? I'm working on coyote swapping an 07 V6 and I'm not sure if I can use the exhaust system from an 05-09 GT or if I need one from the 11-14GT.
They do not. There’s a couple of ways to go about it. On the 2007 GT that we did last year. I put long tubes and modify the stock mid pipe to except ball flanges to bolt up to the long tube headers. With this car, I actually just picked up a complete exhaust system from manifolds back From the 2014 donor car that the engine came from . So doing it this way you just use 2011 to 2014 exhaust components. On the 2007 I use a 2005 to 2009 cat back components.
@@jaydenanderson9277 nope. Only had to make a power wire borrowed from the 4.6 battery harness. Only because it was missing on the 5.0 battery harness for some reason
@@MattSoppa my bad I meant are u still using the fuel line that came with the drivetrain that u connected to the stock 3v fuel line or did u have too go returnless system?
Traction control can never be used unless the entire 11-14 abs system is used. Engine light is an emissions thing I’ve figured out since then with the FTP sensor
It all depends on how well of a engine donor you get so the little parts like harnesses and ECU etc don’t nickel and dime you. Our plug and play harness costs $1000 and if you’re doing it yourself a donor engine can cost from $3-6000. Could even suggest getting a whole vehicle donor as well. Once I sell the old 4.6 Drivetrain and actually get a drive shaft in it I’ll have a video coming out breaking down the actual cost.
Nice. So 8,643 without labor. 5,868 after selling old parts. Labor usually around 4,000, but you did it yourself. What state are you in? I might eventually want this. Also, my transmission only has about 60k miles on it, whereas yours had 175k.
@MattSoppa Basically, I was hoping it'd be about 9k for me, including labor and selling old parts. Do you know what is the best possible engine that would fit in mine? Is it that Coyote one? How many miles were on your Coyote?
Depends on how clean the body and rest of the car is. Run into that issue where people will ask “ well I could get a 11-14 car for that” too. I’d say 12-20
I'm actually shopping around for a coyote motor for a swap in a 2001 expedition, wanted to do something out of the norm. Great video and tips.
This body style is my favorite other than the 64 mustang
I love the look of the 2005 to 2009. Coyote swap with some suspension upgrades would make an awesome drivers car
It is a great daily. It’s also for sale now
Got a link to the for sale listing?
Awesome video. The only hitch is you need another car to drive while doing the swap.
If you are considering a coyote swap you should have more than 1 vehicle imo.
