Jolie has more connections in Hollywood than Karla and Mikey. There’s no way she’s getting snubbed considering, like Demi, she’s one of the last movie stars before social media.
Kelly Clarkson would make a fabulous host. She's likable, and she can sing. Plus, I don't think she would offend the celebrities in the audience with tasteless and cruel jokes.
A lot of people are actually saying it's Angelina's best role in her career so this argument is invalid. She's not missing and I actually think she's being underestimated a lot
Are we being setup for another heartbreak with Demi? The Academy always does us dirty by snubbing Horror from way back with Mia Farrow in Rosemary's baby and Toni Collette for Hereditary.
Agreed. Much prefer Kidman as an actress, and I'm sure Babygirl is a far better movie, but Jolie has the baitest Oscar role this year. The Academy laps that shit up (actors playing real people).
The Jolie snub could happen. She likely will be the sole nominee for the film. Maria Callas is not a popular character. And Jolie has been off the Academy radar. Her last nomination was 15 years ago.
Gabriel! I see you representing Brazil and talking about I’m Still Here and highlighting Fernanda Torres and Fernanda Montenegro performances(as we all should!)🇧🇷🧡
Among the big names in the running, voters might prefer giving Demi her due or someone with a strong case for a second win like Kidman. Jolie can come off as having it easy, born into Hollywood, an early Oscar win, constant media attention, and now handed the baitiest role by the baitiest director Best Actress speaking, yet her performance earned the most lukewarm reception among Larraín’s recent leading ladies. Hard to see those who’ve fought their way up in Hollywood eager to crown her this year.
I disagree. Jolie wasn't nominated in 15 years, and she's a big cash cow for the industry. The movie got somewhat lukewarm reviews, but is still firmly in the fresh on RT. I'm sure it will do well on Netflix, and they will push hard to get it nominated, and spend money as much as they did with Cooper in Maestro, which was a god-awful film and a very hammy / pathetically baity performance. I personally don't see anything remarkable about Jolie in the trailer or clips (Jolie doing Jolie, no Calas there), but if anyone's a safe bet among actors this year, it's her. Kidman's film is too racy apparently, and she's more likely to miss. Jolie's movie is text-book Oscar bait, and they love actors playing real life characters (see Rami Malek, Jessica Chastain, Christian Bale in The Fighter, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. It's basically a made-for-Oscar performance. Though I think she has little chance of winning, since even Portman (who gave an astounding performance in Jackie, and the best one that year) didn't manage the win.
I hope not for he doesn't move me, not ever, but Almodovar is the Academy darling. You think The Room Next Door instead of Scott for Gladiator for nostalgic pick, always have one? A worse nightmare of Coppolla getting in? Help 😢😢😢 Directors that is. I put this in before the question so answered.
Demi hasn't got a chance, realistically. Only 5 horror movie performances have ever won Oscars. It's a genre that hardly ever gets nominated. The Substance is also a 50/50 share between Demi and Margaret Q. She can't possibly get in with Jolie, Kidman and others around.

Yeah Maria feels much more digestible then Spencer was. Because of that I think she'll have an easier time getting in then Kristen did.

¿Snubbed jolie? Really?

Denis V. > Ridley S. for Director at the Oscars
Currently Denis is more appreciated in the industry.
Jesse Eisenberg at 100/1 on GD is crazy, like not even 80? Lmaooo

Crazy surprise: Kingsley Ben-Adir for Bob Marley: One Love for Best Actor.
