Rick Allen the drummer, lost his left arm in a car accident, when he was only 21 years old. He was close to depression, but his group said that no one would replace him, and they waited for him until he could recover and learn to play again. True loyalty and friendship.
And the fans were loyal right along with the band. They were worried about being out of the spotlight while they waited but clearly it had no effect on the fanbase or their popularity! I also love that they didn't have all the infighting and drama that so many bands did.
I was already a fan, but when they waited for him to recover and learn to play again, my respect for them went through the roof. And I was so happy when it paid off and they came back as strong as ever. To me, this sounds like such a celebratory song, of knowing they overcame huge odds and being so glad to be able to play together again.
Rick Allen was a solid drummer before losing the arm. They set up a special custom drum rig for him after, which wasn't that easy to play in and of itself. Granted, Def Lep never had insane drum parts but they could have easily just replaced the guy and didn't.
Also when you realize that this album's guitars were recorded with a Rockman headphone amplifier designed and made by Tom Scholz of the band Boston and it sounds this good you know it's good 🤘🏼
@@neilpatrickhairless I applaud the band for sticking with Rick Allen. I lost my leg when I was 16 in a motorcycle accident (51 years ago now) at the beginning of what I though was going to be a long healthy life. This kind of trauma changes you and the fact that Rick's band mates stood by him until he figured it out is a true sign of friendship over career. You really need those friend during time like that.
When Rick Allen lost his arm in a car accident, Def Leppard were at the peak of their success. They stopped everything and waited for him to recover. Def Leppard is the band that would not die...🤣🤣🤣
Did you notice the drummer has his right arm only. You need to read story behind the loss of his arm and the bands response. They laid out some real love for their bandmate.

Def Leppard are an English rock band formed in Sheffield in 1976. Since 1992, the band has consisted of Rick Savage, Joe Elliott, Rick Allen, Phil Collen, and Vivian Campbell. They established themselves as part of the new wave of British heavy metal of the early 1980s.

My absolute favorite band growing up! I still love them! I've seen them live at least 10 times and every time was amazing!! Def Leppard are legends & a great rabbit hole. 'Photograph', 'Animal', 'Foolin', 'Rock of Ages' & more. Jump in! Really great musicians, vocals and amazing performers. They're still going & one of the 80s bands that have maintained their quality.
This is from the 'In The Round and In Your Face' shows where the audience was on all 4 sides. The whole show is on You Tube and it's amazing. Guitarists are Steve Clark (long blond hair, swinging guitar in the air) Phil Collen, and Rick Savage on bass. Singer is Joe Elliott and the man on those drums is Rick Allen whom I hope you've noticed by now plays with one arm. They call him the Thunder God. They are still filling stadiums world wide.
I saw Def Leppard so many times in the late 80s early 90s. They were so fantastic live because every song they had was a hit! The hair, the ripped jeans, the music. Iconic

I think Def Leppard was one of the second "British Wave" bands to sweep across the US. They weren't part of the first wave with the Beatles, The Who and Led Zepplin, but I think they came in 15+ years later around the late 70s early 80s. Great band from the UK.

I do not hold back when i hear somebody who has either never had the chops to be on stage or who has lost their ability. i braced myself for feeling terrible for the drummer trying to be as great as he once was. I was happily stunned by his skill. he even did a drum solo during the show with his new kit kicking ass and throwing down as if nothing ever happened to him. So glad you like the drummer. He's an inspiration. He lost his arm in a car accident on the A57 in 1984. After recovering, he had to figure out how he could continue playing. As I said, inspiration.

I saw Def Leppard in the mid-80’s. To this day, that was the best concert I’ve been too. And I’ve been to hundreds. I’ve seen them a few more times in the 2000’s. They are such a great band!!
Ok, a band very popular at this time was Y & T. They sound just as good today as they did in 1983. They are currently touring the UK. Go see them and experience the music of this time. You will be shocked at how good they play and sound.
Just saw them in August, Dave Meniketti is 70 and he sounds and plays pretty dam near how he did when I was 16 years old doing what I shouldn’t have been doing🤣
The drums probably sound the way they do is because the drummer Rick Allen is missing his left arm. He lost it in a car accident they reattached it in the body rejected it. The band stay together and did not replace him. They waited for him to figure out a way how to do drums with one arm. That is admirable and the way it should be. So you had me in stitches that you never noticed. I think they're from the UK

I thank my parents for always having music in my life❤🎶🎶🎶🎶❣️🥰
Joe Elliott has one of the top rock-n-roll voices of all time, imo. Full of grit (as you said) and he can also hit high notes. Please keep checking them out. I saw them in concert just a few summers ago and they STILL ROCK! "Rock of Ages" and "Foolin'" are other serious bangers!
This is such a fun song. Great reaction, as always. I am so glad that I stumbled upon your channel about a year ago. You are just a joy to watch. You’re doing a great job, don’t change a thing 🤘
I can't believe you never noticed that the drummer only has one arm!!😂😂😂 As many times as you rewound and talked about the drums!! Bless you ❤
I love you and hope you don't miss this one Bringin' On The Heartbreak ❤
So glad you like the drummer. He's an inspiration. He lost his arm in a car accident on the A57 in 1984. After recovering, he had to figure out how he could continue playing. As I said, inspiration.
TODAY is the best day ever!!!! 💋💋💋
I have seen them live two times, and boy, they deliver!!! increadable sound live... and energy!!
You missed it. Like 6 times! How did you miss it?
On a side note: I LOVE this band. Have since their 1st album. So so many hits! Early stuff: High N Dry, Bringin On The Heartbreak. Check em out.
Bringing on the heartache. Old Def Leppard, excellent.
Def Leppard is British. They started as a New Wave of British Heavy Metal band alongside Iron Maiden and Saxon and the rest.
The band came from Sheffield, England. :D
Agree I think they kinda got lumped into the hair metal scene cause Joe was so pretty
@@michellesmith7363 just check out the Def Leppard E.P. version of Getcha Rocks Off. It's high energy speed metal.

I love Y&T. Barroom Boogie and Summertime Girls. Damn I miss the 80’s.
Just saw them in August, Dave Meniketti is 70 and he sounds and plays pretty dam near how he did when I was 16 years old doing what I shouldn’t have been doing🤣
Too late for Love
Is a must by them
I forgot about this song. Mollyboy would love it.
I cant wait to see what you listen yo next from this group. You cannot go wrong with them. One of my favorite bands. ❤
I hope this makes you go on a Def Leppard marathon! Soon, really really soon ! Start with Rock of Ages
Yes😊
The drums probably sound the way they do is because the drummer Rick Allen is missing his left arm. He lost it in a car accident they reattached it in the body rejected it. The band stay together and did not replace him. They waited for him to figure out a way how to do drums with one arm. That is admirable and the way it should be. So you had me in stitches that you never noticed. I think they're from the UK

Have seen them live 5 times. Great performances always. And to watch the drummer work with about 100 pedals is insane. Great shows.
Another UK band is bringing the heat. Great reaction, Molly Boy - Thanks for the hard work.
Thank you for reacting to this group, my favorite. I am 52 years old, I have been following this band since I was 12 years old... today I still get excited to see Rick Allen, the band's drummer!!! I recommend listening to "Women"... (Def Leppard). Greetings from Argentina!!! - @MollyBoyTV
"FOOLIN'"!! They were HUGE! Hit after Hit! Couldn't turn the radio on without hearing them! 😊
Seen them 3 times in concert and never disappointed me, actually got better every year. Got me through some rough times in my past....
