Not too much of a delay, they grow pretty fast. But it's worth it in the long run.

Specifically how far back do you pinch? I’ve heard all the way down to the last 2 sets and then I’ve heard only the top two sets which looks like what you did

Thank you for the video. Two questions. 1 My zinnias are taller but ugly, can I still do this cutting as you did on the video. 2 I bought a hay stack., can I apply it as mulch(appears that you have something similar on your Zinnia beds. And finally a compliment you are so naturally beautiful.

Hi, yes you can cut your zinnias how I have done it and always dead head aswell because they will bloom more frequently as they are cut and come again flowers ☺️
I used a sugar cane mulch (as I ran out of regular mulch). You can use the hay but it will have lots of weed seeds in it. You can compost your hay first to get rid of the weed seeds. And Thankyou, hope that helps!

Is nit necessary to pinch? It looks like the flower you pinched already was working on side shoots.

By pinching the tops off, it allows more energy to be able to go into the side shoots. But give it a go and let me know what you think!
