International Pakistani 🇵🇰 have stopped flying PIA. I wouldn’t fly PIA.
I flew in 2008 (Man ✈️ > Islamabad) 11 hour delay cargo technical fault. The flight flew without the luggage) luggage come on later flight and lost at the airport. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

PIA needs a strick CEO who is there for a long term and is not afraid of firing people. because we are taking losses anyways so why not take a bit more and make this work. and there are people with right motivation who can do that.

Please get a current or ex-PIA serviceman to speak. I don't know who this is, he might've had some stint in PIA or whatever, but I don't think he's in a position of giving an actual picture of what's going on in PIA. The title says 'Rise and Fall of PIA', while this gentleman is waxing lyrical about Privatization.

Why do most governments choose retired military officers and civil servants to lead state corporations? It's a decision born out of practicality and a desire to avoid unnecessary controversy. Bringing in a professional from the private sector often stirs suspicion among opposition parties, the media, and even within the corporation itself. Such an appointee is likely to find themselves entangled in endless legal battles, ultimately leading to their removal.
It's not that the government doesn't want capable professionals running these corporations; it's just an incredibly challenging task to appoint one. Many individuals with professional backgrounds are unaccustomed to the intense scrutiny and criticism that comes with a public role. Most of them have spent their careers in the private sector, shielded from the spotlight and the political scandals that frequently engulf government. When faced with the relentless media circus, it becomes easier for them to simply resign and return to the private sector, causing further embarrassment for the political administration that supported and appointed them.
Consequently, in the end, a retired military officer or a civil servant emerges as the safest choice. They encounter less resistance, both politically and in the media. They understand how government functions, possess a thick skin, and know how to navigate the intricate political landscape without inadvertently triggering controversies.

      Government choose retired military officers?😂😂😂😂😂😂
Truth is Government/PM is selected by army chief
Its hybrid system where PM is just a puppet who follows orders

PIA has suffered most during leadership of serving and retired military personnel. Corruption has peaked during these periods and they get away scot free because they are not answerable to any civilian authorities.
Computer purchase rackets, aircraft purchase deals, spare parts sales, all have had military hands behind them causing losses of millions of dollars.
Till recently, it was the only airline in the world to be run by the Ministry of Defence.

Incompetence can not remain hidden for long ! it had to happen one day . There are many corporations like PIA in this country, railway, wapda , ptcl, ptv etc. Every organisation whose name starts with Pakistan is a story of sheer incompetece.

The speaker has no clue of the topic nor any expertise in the subject.
The objective of privatisation is to transfer from public sector to private sector, period. Reasons could be many but usually it's done to get rid of unprofitable enterprises, which is the case here.
Contrary to his statement, Air Canada has always been, and still is, a state owned entity.

Sir with all due respect, I am disappointed as you have presented just a lay man Pakistani perspective about PIA whereas I was expecting some more details and research. I would suggest you need to do some more research on why PIA was at peak during 60s, 70s & 80s and why it crashed in 90s and onwards. I am sharing some links if you go through these videos and get a more deeper insight. In my view privatization is also not a solution unless we analyze the reasons for each and every penny of loss, Without such accountability privatization will also be another fraud and corruption by the federal government and Pakistan will lose another asset. Thanks

The days of Asghar Khan and Nur Khan are long gone. They were replaced by corrupt military personnel like Air Marshal Viqar Azeem, Daudpota, Arshad Malik, and the current incumbent, all of whom have been corrupt to the core. They have been involved in all kinds of rackets from computer purchases to aircraft purchases and sales of spare parts as scrap. None of them have ever been punished.
