I've had an HW100 T .177 for over 10 years, I used it a lot in Field Target competitions and later in Benchrest competitions, it only brought me joy and some medals.
Watching its comparison with the FX x HW100 and reading the comments from internet users, without a doubt the HW100 is ahead of the FX, the germans don't mess around when it comes to service.

I purchased my 100kt new in 2010 and it has been amazing and still looks brand new! I have only had to change the inlet valve seal and one little seal in the fill probe inlet! Easy todo! I recently fully stripped and re sealed my mates kt and the design of these pcps is amazing! I would never part with my 100!! Cheers

I'll choose the HW100 any day. I had one in .22 FAC. One hole groups at 25yds. I now have an Mll and an M3. Neither measures up to the HW100. Owning an FX is like buying a motorcycle; just a big money pit! Always a new model. Always an accessory to buy. If you like to fiddle and chase leaks buy an FX.

I own both. An Impact M3 in .22 and an HW 100 in .20 cal.
Both are FAC. So I need to get that out of the way at the outset. Given that you guys are limited to 12fpe, this discussion is simply an FYI chat. In no way do I intend pitting the one brand against the other. Perdonally I like and respect both. I've owned my HW 100 for nearly 4 years. During which time it developed a very minor leak.
I've had my FX for 3 years and not a day's trouble. I suspect, its because I don't fiddle and adjust and tweak.
At the outset I set it up for long range work. It shoots 30grain .218 H&N slugs @985fps. ( 65fpe) To this day, without touching either the gun or scope (Hawke Frontier FFP) it will print sub MOA groups at 100m all day long, with a PB of 15mm.
My HW 100 is a superb gun for targets under 75m. (8 to 10mm groups all day long at 50m) I run 15.89 JSB @785 fps. ( 23fpe) NB These pellets have one of the highest, if not the highest BC's ( 0.047)
Suffice it to say, I suspect FX's myriad adjustability features may be its Achilles heel. It may not be designed / suited to lower power. ( I'm not an engineer) So, my humble advice is, once your impact is set up, stop fiddling and twisting and adjusting, and it should serve you well.
Having said all this, if I was limited to 12fpe, I'd choose an HW100 in .20 cal....Yes .20 cal. Shooting JSB 13.73 or H&N 11grainers.

Hi there,it’s Phil Matthews (re fx dreamline fault) at last I’ve got it back and modified as a good will gesture (they’ve fitted a 310bar buddy bottle in place of the tube reservoir!) apparently the barrel tube had come loose and was losing umph to blow the pellet out, which makes perfect sense to me because it suddenly happened. So I’m a happy bunny now and I promised l would let you know the outcome so there you are. Thanks for the great videos, keep up the good work!👌

I have a HW100T in .22 sub 12 and it's simply never let me down and is as accurate and powerful as the day I bought it new about 5 oyears ago, however a couple of mates I go shooting with both bought FX rifles within the last 12 months and one has already returned his after multiple air leaks and bought a HW100KT and my other mate brought his old Rapid 7 out last night admitting he preferred it to his £1400 FX. I'm sure they're great guns but sadly I've heard many similar stories.

I have 2 HW 100s a bullpup which is amazing and a thumbhole long action which is brilliant but pellet fussy on pushing a pellet through the barrel on both the pellet fussy one is quite a bit slacker fit in the barrel, other than that the both are very accurate I'm a benchrest shooter and both are very close to being as good as my competition rifle averaging 100 plus 3 _ 5 X's per card.
On the other hand I have an M3 impact that is stunning over the cronograph and probably the least accurate rifle I have ever had, constant POI shift and having tried everything I could including the FX carbon stiffener I am resorting to having a match grade barrel machined to sort the problem out, the more people I talk too that have had the same problem with impacts is unreal but all at sub 12, everyone with the high power models thinks they are umbelievable I can only presume from this that they just run much better at FAC levels, unfortunately this has left a bad taste in my mouth and I would never consider another FX in sub 12, IMO a waste of money buy a Weihrauch over the FX everytime for half the price.

Thanks very much for doing this, it was very helpful. I had a HW95K but stupidly, got rid of it for a FX Pantera .177. The Pantera has been nothing but trouble - the magazine fit is not precise which leads to imprecise pellet loading which can impact the loading & lever mechanism. Despite the enormous price the whole action seems to be made out of cheese. Your video has made my mind up & I'm going back to Weirauch and buying a HW100. If only I'd done my research and seen your video first I could've saved a lot of money and stress. Thanks.

Sorry to say but in general FX are overpriced garbages especially FX Impact is absolutely crap. While HW100 is considered one of if not the best PCP in the world, it is piece of art, best magazine system, best trigger and great barrel, very efficient silencer and reliable regulator, and of course it is German engineering, the only downside is that it is a bit heavy and less air capacity.

Ordered my fax impact a month ago, now had it 3 days
Day 1 taken back to shop to fix leak at the gauge
Day 2 magazine broke as nut fell out the back taken back to shop to repair
Day 3 first regulator creeps overnight from 135 bar to 170, have to fire a couple of shots to bring it back down. Unsure if this is a big issue.
Still it’s capable of handling a variety of pellets, and is so adjustable
Watched a lot of videos espousing how wonderful these guns were before I purchased. It now occurs to me those people were also the kind that likes to pull things apart and modify them, possibly they don’t care if it needs continual repairing.

My 10 yr old HW100 had a Ratworks bottle upgrade as it began to leak a little too frequently. All good now. My MK1 began to lose power until I ran ten shots through it but a quick turnaround on seals etc and £130 and now as good as new. The MK11 FAC hasn’t missed a beat. Amazing shot counts on both FX models. If I could only keep one which would it be?…………. I would keep the FXMK11. Mine is two years now and i have had no leaks but that's not my big issue. FX, Daystate and many more brands are constantly upgrading their products and come with new modells, anniversary modells and gadgets for overpriced prices to follow the hype to ripp you off. Weihrauch does not have to upprade because they produce a perfect rifle that will be on the market for many years to come. Good is good. All pcp's hit the target every time so that is no reson to owe a FX and leaks will almost never occure within one year. I,m not saying a FX is a bad PCP but in my opinion not worth the money.

Had 2 HW100s. These do not come spot on from factory. You get good and bad. Both had issues. One was sent back the other I sorted because the time it takes when sent back to HC. Other than that, can be very accurate but low shot count and extremely boring rifle

      @rapalaron6348 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

@@memememe2674 All brands can have an issuse direct from factory, even FX has issues. That's the problem with PCP's with all moving parts and adjustments. That's why i prefer more reliable quality springer air rifles. All PCP's are boring and there is no challenge to shoot them. A ten year old can shoot small groups with a PCP and adult guys have to show that they can here on YT 😆 Shooting skills you learn with a springer. As i said, i own a S410 and if i pick it up for som target shooting or plinking i do already know the results. Day in day out. 10 rimfire shells on 30 yards without missing one and than i can even decide if i hit them high, in the middle or low, that's boring, but for hunting and pest control it's a superb rifle and than are 60 accurate shots out of one fill more than enough.

I've got both and would happily sell the FX, never the HW. Shot count is better on the FX for sure, but for me the HW is very slightly more accurate, doesn't require any fettling and fiddling with, runs for years, will be supported for ever and has a far superior trigger and magazine. The FX mags are big, but a faff, rattly and foul at least the first round, if not 2. Also comfort: subjective I know, but for me the FX is awkward in the shoulder. Pistol grip is nice and practical though. And the price? The FX is twice the HW! Buying again, I'd go Crown over Impact.

IMO regardless of brand the more complicated, the more O-rings the more issues down the road. Something I learned in the Air Force was KISS…keep it simple stupid and I think that applies with just about anything man made. I have PCPs made by Snow Peak that cost under 300$ that have given me no issues in years while other PCPs I own costing thousands more have been a handful and a couple while under warranty have spent more time in the shop for repairs than in my hands. One platform is hammerless and I will say is super reliable and very easy to maintain and it is the LCS SK-19. Looked intimidating at first and I wouldn’t touch it…then the warranty ran out and of course it’s started to leak very slowly. Being somewhat of a perfectionist I couldn’t have that and within a couple hours had it repaired with a couple of-rings in the rear block and it has been rock solid ever since. That all said every airgun regales will leak or fail in time. Even my 30 yr old Benjamin Sheridan 392 has been rebuilt 2Xs and it’s about a simple as it gets. They are all great rifles till the mess up.🤷‍♂️💯

I have a HW100 kt in .177 and a mk2 Impact in .177 I got the Hw100 second hand mainly for HFT which is a very good rifle. I bought the Impact second hand from a friend at a good price. I find they are very close on accuracy but on the range I use the Impact for the shot count mine is the larger cylinder and will near enough do a tin of pellets. So far no problems with either. I also have a FX maverick compact in.22. I did have a power loss problem with that but now it's sorted it is my go to gun, I can hit everything with that than I can with the HW100 or Impact up to 50 yards.

Not had a HW100 but have a FX Impact MK2 for 2 yrs and find it very consistent, I like the shot count ( 450+ ) as mainly shoot targets at the range. a;; my guns have big shot count as suits my shooting and have tried cylinder guns but then have to take a bottle with me, I have a compressor at home so just fill the guns and take them out no worries.
Have thought of selling the Impact a few times but then take it out for one last shoot and land up keeping it lol ( guns owned 'Red Wolf' 'Alpha Wolf' 'Uragan2' 'FX Impact MK2' 'TX200MK1 in Warren Edwards stock' 'HW97 SFS Chieftain (a 97 with a 77 barrel)' 'Reximex Pretensis that I fitted with a regulator' all in .177) and always thinking what to get next :)

  • @ianwoods1384
    @ianwoods1384 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hia mate,
Thank you for the trouble of your review and pitting these two rifles against each other.
I've never owned an FX, though purchased the Limited Edition HW100 KT over Christmas. I havent shot it yet. What with Christmas, the poor weather, then discovering there was a leak! So it's in hospital feeling poorly😢.
There were three hundred manufactured to mark Hull Cartridges' twentieth year anniversary of importing Weihrauch air rifles into this country.
If there were three hundred made and one had an air leak, it just had to be mine. Yep, just had to be! I had a funny feeling when I was filling the cylinder with air. If there's no air inside, how do the seals stay in place? Then, low and behold, theres a leak!
I've never been keen on the tactical look, but walnut stocks make my knees tremble. I just adore them and a big part of the rifle for me. I dont politely think German engineering can be beaten. So its Weihrauch for me, all day long. You said about loose pellets in the FX magazine. You wouldn't see a Weihrauch like that.
The Weihrauch for me is just a fantastic rifle, pardon the pun, bullet proof. The Weihrauch is solid, built to last and engineering excellence. With great respect, personally, I think all it could ever be, is a one horse race.
I know the Weihrauch shot count isn't great, though I saw a posting on Utube where someone went to HW Tuning, and now their shot count, on one 200 bar fill is 150 shots. Why can't Weihrauch do that? Would it put extra strain on certain parts that Weirhauch wouldnt do? Thank you.

      Hello My friend,
Thank you for your reply and nice to hear from you.
Yes, mate, I just wrote from my heart and what I really thought. The leak is just one of those things, and things like this happen on such a large manufacturing scale. With Weihrauch's reputation, I don't expect any more than that.
That said, if the Weirhaurch HW100KT is as good as my BSA R12 CLX PRO, I will be well happy. That is an absolutely fantastic air rifle, I love the bare bones of it.
I last messaged you when you were a little fed up. You were having problems acquiring your Firearms Certificate. I hope you've been successful whatever you decided to do in the end.
I'm not sure what I'll attempt to do yet, though at the moment, I'm happy at 12ftlb.
The best of luck, mate, Ian.

Can’t remember shot count from a full but nowhere near the impact. 10 shot mag compared to 28 in .22. Not an easy gun to work with or maintain. Yes the impacts are full of orings but it’s not too bad once you do it. Two lovely guns but I’d go with impact every day.
