You just saved me from spending $3600. Literally I have my cart ready to check out and I was feeling some buyers remorse and googled DreamBox alternatives. Thank you for this. Now just have to try. Wow girl, you’re amazing!! 👏👏👏💯👑🔥
Started building this for my wife. Got a lot of great ideas from this video. I think there's a typo in the materials list though. Based on watching the video and putting one together. The sides appear to be the Pax 19 5/8 x 13 3/4 x 79 1/8, not what's listed. Otherwise when you have it all closed its 45 3/4 inches deep. Almost 4 feet. Takes up a lot of space when closed. Just a helpful hint. Gonna have to take a trip to Ikea at some point to make it a little less overwhelming for the room.
Wow you are a skilled carpenter! Made it doable for all of us who don’t have thousands of dollars but drooling on the Dreambox! I think even I can do this. Thank you for sharing this with the world 🥳
I was going to go in debt trying to buy the Dreambox, but started looking for alternatives to it. Every video I came across didn't quite do it for me. The cabinets were OK, but looked cheap and not very durable. Then I found you. Girlllllll wowwwwww. This is the absolute best one and you set the standard for me. This will be what model I follow. Thank you for this masterpiece. Bravo.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Did you ever built it? If so can you tell me which items are used for the outermost cabinets, I'm getting condused with the ikea shelves and all I found was UTRUSTA Shelf, white18x14 3/4 ". Is this correct?
Fantastic job!!! Love that you, as a woman built this...ive always been pretty handy with wood & i would love to try this project!!! Thanks for sharing! You rock!!

You did a great job at designing and putting it together! It looks just as good as the Dreambox! I saw the Original Dreambox a couple of years ago but I couldn't afford it and still can't! I recently decided to make my own using the Ikea Billy Bookcases for my sewing, jewelry making and craft supplies. I have other storage units and a cutting table but I want something that I can store my things in and close it up when I'm not using it. I've been working out a plan and making a list of everything I need so I can order them and get to work! I hope to make a video so I can share it.
Wow, yours fits the seat and trash with an extra long table too. That's great! I just finished mine. I ended up ordering bins and side tables from createroom since I didn't know of an alternative. It's nice to know that if I build another there are some work arounds like Pax and the bins.
OMG, your dream box is BEAUTIFUL! I have bought four bookcases from Walmart and I will follow the rest of your steps. I am so EXCITED I cannot wait to build my box. I love the length of your desk and I love the internal drawers. HONESTLY, your dream box is more of a dream box for me and 1/4 of the price. You are amazing and thank you for the video, it has given me hope!
This is seriously amazing!! I, too, would gladly pay for an instruction booklet. Until then, I've got this saved and hope to attempt this after the first of the year. Thank you for the list and detailed instructions in the captions!!!
You rock Sileam! Your 'Dreambox' is absolutely fabulous! If your video wasn't titled that you were making a 'Dreambox' with items from IKEA, Lowe's, Walmart, Amazon & Dollar Tree and you just showed your box, I would of thought you had a $3,000 Dreambox. Thank you so much for sharing, showing how & giving a shopping list of supplies needed. Can you give the dimensions of the box when closed?
Girl, this is JUST what I was looking for! Thank you so much!!!! The information and step by step has been vital, and I love your information in the description box. Genuinely how to DIY this. Thank you!
Thank You so much for this video! It’s been a 3 week project so far (IKEA parts on back order) but I’m getting so excited to load my crafting stuff! You saved me close to $2500!
I loved the idea of the Dream box but I didn't need it that big. Thank you for showing your IKEA version. I have watched it 2 times and more to come thank you.
I love the larger table you have . Most of the tables I have seen people put in their DIY boxes have been small. This looks much more solid than other versions I have seen.

I'm only into one minute of your video and am very impressed! It looks like a beautiful cabinet when closed and I am truly fascinated on what you have pulled together. I hope you did not waste too much in this build. A big WOW!

Wow!!!! BRAVO!!! Thank you so much for this tutorial. When I saw the Dreambox and its price, I thought about making one out of Ikea bookshelves. You have given me the exact info I need to build mine. I'm kind of glad that CreateRoom was such a dumpster fire with all of their backorders and supply issues when I tried to order my dreambox. It was over a year past my order date and still no dreambox and still no ETA when people who ordered the exact same thing after me were getting theirs. Some people had been waiting TWO years for their boxes. I ended up getting a full refund since I had all that extra time to watch DIY alternatives, saved thousands of dollars and was able to make exactly what I wanted. This video was the best help!
You are genius! I would love one but am no longer able to do something of this magnitude. If you ever start selling them, please let me know! Really is wonderful what you have done for a lot of people with this!!!
love this video! Cant be more excited to build this for my craft space! This comment is not meant to be mean or condescending in anyway. Just informative for people who might be confused about the directions. So, a couple things to mention: with the horrible supply chain issues that IKEA is having in the current market finding all PAX items can be difficult. I can't find shelves and the wardrobes are mostly out of stock. I will be using plywood or melamine for all my shelves. With the current market (2022/2023) the cost of materials have increased as well to about $1,400 for the total project approx. depending on lumber pricing in your area of the US. Other comments are correct about the side doors being 13" and not 22" wide/deep you can tell by the 1x1 floor tiles. also there is a typo in the height of both wardrobes. They're the 92 1/8" sizes because 1) they don't make a 19x13x79 at all and 2) again estimating the height by the floor tiles again. Measurements for the crown, the table legs, pull out shelf, table it's self, and the smaller side doors can also be determined this way. But its unclear how high to install the middle shelving? it looks like she puts the board vertical and puts the middle shelf one board length up from the base of the wardrobe so the middle shelves are 39 3/8" apart and the next shelf is one foot below that? standard table height is 28-30" so I'll probably do that. But the directions are unclear. You can always buy drawer hardware and plywood for shelves instead of foam for structure and longevity of the furniture. The use of "already on hand items" as well like the plastic from the PAX for the side doors and the bottle caps for the ribbon holders are difficult to come by but could easily be improvised (use dowels for the plastic, and PVC tubing for the caps?). The type or weight rating for the command hooks I guess is preference but there are 5 on both sides. Compared pricing on amazon for some items like wheels, led lamp, and shelf pegs. You can also cut holes in the drawers like how the OG Dream box has theirs with a saw or Dremel to save money on knobs. But if you do want knobs I'd suggest two part epoxy for attachment and not felt pads. some items with codes listed are no longer available like the vinyl molding and the gray wall panels but there are replacements with similar pricing on Lowes's website. the wheels she uses don't lock but you could put two on the big wardrobe on the back where there isn't and lower trim or just don't install trim when building wardrobe in the start. she also has a smaller drawer system and a couple deeper drawers with no explanation on construction although I assume it's the same but different sizes. If I'm missing anything I apologize and I hope this helps anyone who might be confused or apprehensive to start. TBH the creator could make this a reddit or something so we could all help with troubleshooting! :) Thanks for reading! Happy crafting!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with us! I made sure my captions were “on” and I see the supply list, but I do not see the instructions or subtitles.
I used L bracket casters for my wardrobe because the base piece cracked and didn't hold up the weight being applied once i started adding my sewing and craft materials into the cabinet. My design and materials was likely heavier than this one. I got 2 inch L-bracket caster wheels and I attached them supporting pieces of wood I attached to the sides at the base to make sure it had extra support and attached the wheels to that. It's holding up well.
