I remember the interview. I was embarrassed for the family. But also there is no evidence to say that Richard Heene was not telling the truth. He could not find his kid, feared for the worst, was not in the best frame of mind, it's plausible. And when the kid said, "We did this for the show." I thought he was talking about the interview, they are all sitting on the couch for the show. Give them the benefit of the doubt, it was not that big of a deal, don't ruin their lives over it.
@dreamland Just because their kid told them he thought his sibling was in the balloon that flew off doesn't give the media the right to ruin their lives. The attic is not the place one looks for their child when they're almost entirely sure they were carried away in a balloon.
this interview is mostly unbiased but still really not showing enough of the story, i liked that they let him wear that internet historian shirt, even if it looks terrible, because internet historian is the only guy ive ever seen actually try to prove his innocence. But he's a youtube channel and i would like the mainstream media to try and redeem themselves by showing the truth of what really happened. Even though being honest and truthful isn't really the medias thing

Update: Heene was pardoned (the most you can do when you are forced by the police to claim guilty, threatening to deport his wife).
Heene made a video laying side by side the interrogation with what the police reports/announcements said. Many of the reports made to media were directly opposing the evidence.
Also the kid was set up by a reporter to say that by reenacting the situation for the reporter's "show".

@@lylah4944 That was the only piece of evidence that you can pin against him this investigation. Even then it could still be explained away because children make mistakes all the time. This would be valid if it was backed up by even more evidence. However their is a massive absence in evidence. When the police interviewed Richard and the kids they found nothing. Richard's story never had any holes unlike people who are actually guilty. When the police searched his house they found nothing. Due to the lack of evidence we can assume Richard is a master manipulator (he flawlessly directed his children in repeating a lie in a single take which lasted hours with only one mistake), a smart story teller and a really good actor or he was just innocent.

Kids at that age don't understand the depth of most questions. My son is nearly 5 and he's the same. He might if thought he was asking a question about the show they were in tv for or because he seen it in TV news he thought it was a show. You can't base answers on one question. The boy was probably not paying full attention when asked this question. I have a son around this age so I know. Like this morning my daughter says to me that she remembered one time on the way to their nanas when we went to the toilets at a restaurant and was laughing because she got scared of her reflection thinking someone was behind the door. Then my son replys "what play place did you go?" No matter what we said we was on about the toilets at a restaurant he still thought it was the play place as his nanna is talking about taking him their. So its possible this boy saw the cameras on him and instantly thought we are doing it for a show, without understanding what he is being asked.

There is no evidence that they were threatening to take her kids away or threatening deportation. It's just an excuse. Plus why did his brother lie and say he saw Falcon enter the balloon as soon as it takes off from the ground, if Falcon is asleep in the attic? Nobody ever explains why he decided to lie. Sure, it may seem case closed with what the kid said. You could also do the normal thing and review all sides of a case and watch the video I suggested to formulate a clear opinion rather that what you "saw on TV" because that is a very weak statement for any arguemnt.
