  • How to use the CHAO PHRAYA EXPRESS BOAT in Bangkok ( Co van Kessel Guide )
    For more information: www.covankessel.com
    In this video we explain you how to use the Chao Phraya Express Boat. This is a really convenient transport to use in Bangkok to beat the traffic and it’s also a lot of fun. Use the river in Bangkok instead of the busy streets and beat the traffic.
    There are 5 different colored boats you can take, but to not confuse you, we only recommend 2 of them. The orange boat and the blue boat.
    We use the example to use the Orange Flag Boat from N13 to N3 Si Phraya to get to our office at Co van Kessel
    This video is part of a web series about Bangkok and in this series we show you how to get around in Bangkok, Thailand.
    *
    Looking for an authentic and unique adventure? Co van Kessel bike tours and boat tours provides a refreshing alternative to the tired tourist experience. We do not battle the crowds at clichéd destinations promoted in guide books, but turn your attention to quaint local communities and charming excursions into the fascinating lifestyle and culture of real Thai people. Every day is different and every tour is a surprise as we focus not on destinations, but lose ourselves in the enchantment of the journey itself.
    Co van Kessel, an innovative and adventurous Dutchman, pioneered bicycle tours in Bangkok more than 30 years ago. As a longtime resident and self-professed lover of Bangkok, he understood very well the picture of accelerated urban development (gridlocked traffic, concrete towers, and choking pollution) that has plagued the recent image of the city. He also had a hunch that this was not what Bangkok or Thailand was all about.
    Making it his goal to re-discover Bangkok, Co spent thousands of hours on his mountain bike exploring the vast network of local streets, alleyways, footpaths and canals between the main urban thoroughfares. What he found, lurking behind the facade of modernization, were hidden worlds of peace and tranquility, a picture of “real” Thai life that has remained unchanged for countless decades; an identity of a city that is true to the Thai people, yet largely unknown to outsiders.
    Whether it’s the colorful sights and smells of the local markets, the fascinating life of locals along the canals, or the surprising existence of bountiful green belts, Co discovered the essence of what makes Bangkok one of Asia’s most captivating cities. Since then, it has been his mission to share these discoveries with the rest of the world.
    What we do
    Our mission at Co van Kessel Bangkok Tours is to provide our guests with a singularly unique travel experience in Thailand. All our tours use Co’s extensive topographical knowledge of the greater Bangkok area as well as his keen eye for the interesting to take you where nobody else can or will.
    We aim not to bore you with talk, but to immerse you in an experience where your individual fascinations emerge.
    Bicycles, boats, and our feet become the tools we use to gain access to the previously inaccessible, behind-the-scenes lifestyle of the Thai. Here the roots of an ancient culture will become evident in a way you never could have imagined.

    This is what i tell my fellow country men , that there is so much to do in Thailand when they give me a sly smile .
    During my every visit to this city ,I take a day off just to take this cheapest transport to have my fill of Chao Phraya river .I pick a vantage seat , camera in tow with some delicious Thai street food and drinks and in around just 50 Baht , I spend tye whole day ,in a state of nothingness and get the best pictures of the city .Great Video ,you have done on this.

    Boats are my favorites of transportation in BKK. Nobody needs to stay in a taxi on the road during the rush hour.
    Very good presentation and overview about the boat lines. In 1991 I learned these by myself from a paper map and watching the thai people.
    And as I see, in the digital age not so many things has been changed.

    Excellent presentation by a beautiful young lady. I'm tempted to go to the office sponsoring her today as we're looking for canal rides on the smaller Bangkok canals.

    This is one of the great links in the Bangkok transport system. Do not mis the Klong ferries that go straight into the centre of the city. These easily connect with the sky train and river ferry. A great way of feeling part of the city .Rather than being in a taxi.

      I agree with Rand U and so is Suzi. Excellent video and very useful. I used the orange boat to go to Thonburi Pier when I was last in Bangkok, with the idea of getting to the River Kwai bridge using local transport only. I got as far as the railway station but it was too late in the day to go. The train only runs twice a day and the journey takes around three hours but the boat trip was an experience in itself and took about half an hour from Saphan Taskin. A must do the next time I am in Bangkok but with better planning. I just subscribed by the way.

      Hi Ton! Voor de ochtend tour, raden wij aan om met de Taxi te komen. Aangezien dan het verkeer nog niet vast staat. Als je vanaf Khao San ongeveer de taxi neemt om 6:15, kom je mooi op tijd bij ons aan. Je kan dan op de terug weg met de boot terug naar Khao San!

    Hi , this is an excellent video to use the boats. I want to take the 180 boat which is for full day. So how much time it takes to complete from sapin to the last point 1 way? I also want to go to wat arun from sapin so which boat I need take and which stop I need to get down?

    • @covankesselbangkok-bikeand5725
      @covankesselbangkok-bikeand5725  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sathyavelu, the boat from Saphan taksin to the end, usually takes around 1 hour. And from Saphan Taksin to Wat arun maybe 10 minutes. The stop is between 7 and 8, and is called Wat Arun.

      @covankesselbangkok-bikeand5725  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gene, all, the routes are 2 ways. You will need to know your location, and then know if you want to go right or left. If you can't figure it out, just say the destination pier to the guard or the ticket seller and they will help you out! Hope that helps.

    • @covankesselbangkok-bikeand5725
      @covankesselbangkok-bikeand5725  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, the tickets you buy on the pier or on board are for a one way only. If you want to visit more stops in one day, we recommend buying the full day ticket. With this ticket you can hop on and off everywhere you want.

    • @covankesselbangkok-bikeand5725

      You can ask the help of a staff member, or if you know where you are, you can tell if the boat goes from left to right or from right to left. Use a map to understand the directions.
