    A very interesting (and cheap!) way to get around. Thank you for showing this.

      The canal scenes are beautiful. Especially the graffiti art. This is a side of Bangkok that tourists will not get to see. It's also a cheaper and faster way to travel in the city.

      Travelling alone has it's advantages. You can go wherever you like without having to convince your travelling companion. I had always wondered how it was like to travel on the canals. Now I know, and it was a wonderful experience and a great way to experience local lifestyle. Thanks for the Like.

    *I have experience once. But it was so hard to go deep into the local village and come out. I remember having a hard time because I couldn't communicate. By the way, I think this Canal boat taxi is very cheap and nice public transportation.**9:40**💯💯👍👍14*

    I will be vacationing in the bang kapi area. How do you let the conductor on the water taxi know what stop you getting off? If no english. What's the hours of the taxi? I'm from Chicago this will be something different.

      Bangkok Canal Boat Map is here: thaiest.com/thailand/bangkok/khlong-boat
      Pratunam is the central station. There are 4 stations to the west and 22 stations to the east. I took the ride to W4 Panfa Leelard. From there you can walk to the Golden Mount Temple. You can also walk to the Giant Swing and then to the Grand Palace if you have the stamina.
      You will need to study the map and tell the station name to the conductor on board. The first and last boat timing is in the link above. Canal water is polluted and smelly. Try not to get splashed. These trips are fun for travellers who like to explore Bangkok. Good luck.

    How do you know when you have arrived at your intended stop/pier? Do they announce it?

    • @SingaporeCityWalks
      @SingaporeCityWalks  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My destination was Phanfa - the last stop where everybody has to get out. I wouldn't know where to get off if I were to get off mid way. From Phanfa I walked to the Golden Mount, Giant Swing and the Old Town.

    If you can still remember, how long was the travel from Pratunam to Panfa Leelard? We're planning on going to the Golden Mount early in the morning. We're thinking about using this mode of transportation instead of using the train system.

      I can't remember. I checked with Microsoft Copilot (AI) and the reply is 16 mins 😀

    Just remember to keep your ticket while transferring from the Eastern route to the Western one. You don't have to buy a second ticket!

      I didn't know that I needed to change boat on my first trip. Luckily I kept my ticket with me.

    Is it very smelly considering it is sewage water?

    • @SingaporeCityWalks
      @SingaporeCityWalks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it was smelly at some stretches of the canal. The water is severely polluted.

    What is the best idea to replace that transparent plastic screen. It also ruin the view esp those who r recording n snapping pics throughout the historic water routes

    • @SingaporeCityWalks
      @SingaporeCityWalks  ปีที่แล้ว

      They need to use plastic screens because the canal waters are polluted and black in colour. It will splash when boats pass each other. It's also for keeping out the rain. The operators should replace the screens periodically but would they? I don't think so. These are fast and cheap transport for locals.
      The best way to take pictures is to stand at the entry and exit point with the agreement of the boat conductor.

    Why are so many TH-camrs copying each other with the same mistake?
    They are ferries, not "taxis". I have used them for 14 years.

    • @SingaporeCityWalks
      @SingaporeCityWalks  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In Bangkok, these are known as river taxis.

      No, that's completely wrong.
      As I said, I have used them for 14 years & my Thai girlfriend I have known all that time agrees with me.
      It's a canal also, not a river.
