The hole in the bolt is specific to the cotter pin, It must go through the bolt as to keep it from spinning. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it, have a great season and be safe man!
I checked the manual and can’t believe that’s correct on leaving it on the bolt, not through the hole. All sleds I have seen with this tension system have had the pin through the bolt head, which to me makes more sense to keep it from backing out. I’ll keep running this method as once the chain stretches upon breaking it rarely needs adjustment. Not gonna lie, BRP screwed this up by using a bolt with a hole in the head big enough for the cotter pin. I was actually told by a tech that at pdi they put the pin in the head. Wonder if this is for a reason or not. Now the question is, why the hole, why big enough for the pin?
@@DanMX2112 yeah I dont know why they have the hole there if you dont need it for anything… its been like that since 2017. But it works so doesnt matter 😅
You can if you like, but the reason I never mention it is because I feel it’s not adequate to just pull the plug and drop the oil. Chain inspection and metallic residue removal can’t happen unless cover is pulled.
@@DanMX2112 yes cause the bolt is magnetic no need to pull the case and good for people to know its magnesium so easy to strip of they dont line up bolts properly and definitely don't over tighten, I like how you say they have screwed up the g5 2024 but can you tell me the numbers of failures? Interesting.
Easy Dave, the purpose of pulling the cover was to do a full inspection, and yes skidoo has recalled the chain case gear and chain, you know this, you’re a skidoo ambassador. There is nothing wrong or misleading with anything I mentioned in this video. Going the extra mile is just fine.
Another great video!
Thanks man, hope your ready rip here soon!
Great video! You dont need to take the cutter pin out, its supposed to be around the tightening bolt not trough the hole in the bolt.

@@DanMX2112 You can check any brp service manual or owners manual, pin comes around the bolt and removing it is not necessary :)

@AnttiEira for real, makes it very confusing.
Did you think to just use the drain bolt at the bottom of the case? This process is far to involved just for seasonal fluid changes.
