@MuskokaFreerider 7 minute mark when you pushed the sled out with the tunnel strapped to your waste was absolutely priceless and genius all at the same time. Can't wait to watch this build all summer and keep my sledding itch under control.

Ti arms and Carbon Skid are killer! no sway is awesome, i've always deleted mine on every sled.
Dave at Redline Performance in Sylvan Lake makes a water to air intercooler for the factory turbos as well as a stage 4 high boost tune that uses race fuel. You need that in your life 😊

5 & a half minutes in, so I'm not sure if you bring it up later in the video but eliminating the oil injection & running mixed fuel, will eliminate a lot of weight.

Hahah I’ll be honest I have zero interest in modding that old sled.

This is going to be sick!!! I have thought about purchasing Titanium fasteners off of the internet. I don't know if you would save money doing that, opposed to purchasing from Alt Impact, or X supplier, but theoretically, if you have the proper bolt length, proper thread pitch, everything could be replaced and ordered from X supplier. You can also switch out certain fasteners. There's probably steel in places (plastics, switches, brake reservoir) where you could get away with aluminum bolts, or even plastic darts or zip ties. I wonder if you could get away with Carbon fiber handle bars (mountain bikes). You could also get a hot knife and might be able to trim plastics, gussets, or vents down, but not completely away. As Louis from PowerModz said, "Ounces count!!!"
You can drill out a lot of bolts to save weight. Old stock car racing trick.

Your going to want to do some sort of heat management to combat the removed heat shielding I’d suggest doing a lot of exhaust heat tape and some gold adhesive heat barrier on the back of the hood and side panels and stuff like that

Can't go wrong with stripping weight out of spinny stuff. Titanium clutch hardware goes a long way. Also getting the stator and brake rotor shaved down at ZRP will help. Belt drive? I do love seeing lightweight builds. Makes me jealous being a trail rider. Mountain sleds get all the cool parts.
Yeah I thought that but not sure what kinda weight you can shave on the stator with that all the electronics of the etec.
I’ve never seen a reliable belt drive set up on a ski doo. They just don’t work as well as the Polaris. Will see what happens though.

I took my 9R 155 at 508lbs to a 165 at 451lbs. A lot of custom work as well as alll the TI/Alum bolts. Ti bolts require some FU money. 7-800$/lb...

I cut 50lbs off my Skidoo Summit X last year by getting my fat a$$ back into shape...went from 240 down to 190...I"m back to 202 at the end of the summer, but should be under 190 by Christmas. I don't think you have 50 lbs to lose.

May sound like a stupid suggestion but ... how much does a seat weigh? Would you consider just not using one? For mountain and tree riding, you rarely ever sit down anyway. Maybe some sort of lightweight 'cushion' (for lack of a better word)?

I sit down enough that I still want some kid of seat. Mostly for the trail and lunch lol

An easy but costly weight saving mod is to go full on titanium pipes and can. Consider air shocks all around. If you talk with some of the guys that run this years air shocks you can get a feel of how well others like em. I know some say those are now possible to use even for heavy usage, due to weight benefits are more important then shock performance. I you don't plan to do big drops it might work well for you. Carbon fiber fuel tank as well as carbon hood and side panels will also save you a lot of weight. To be brutal, I don't think the lightweight game is possible without sinking in hard cash into custom lightweight parts. Sure it costs a few bucks, but this lightweight sled is not a sled you will sell by the end of season to build a new next year. This will be you secret weapon sled. That come out to play when conditions calls for it. And you can easily get 3-4 seasons of riding or even more out of it as secondary sled or even your third choice sled. Just bite the bullet and man up for the cost, I know you will enjoy it every time you use it. Maybe a little tune up for the motor as well while you're at it? And I guess as a youtuber you get to to put the expenses of the build as a tax write off? Maybe you can get a sponsor or two to help fund the custom lightweight parts?

Watch out on the clutch cover. I forgot mine, a piece of belt came out, felt like my leg was broken. I loved my 175, with your abilities trees would be no problem. Bow ties are hard tho. My 175 was in a 165 chassis.

@@MuskokaFreerider don’t go cf on that, not worth it as it’ll delaminate when the first belt goes. Just not worth the cash (or a left leg), just do a slim short guard on the back of the panel out of alu, preferrably stamped for rigidity.
If you can't remove panels use a hole saw to reduce weight.

It was a matte wrap so already thin plus I didn’t have any of the wrap on the back of the tunnel or belly pan

I was honestly a little surprised with the 175” chute route… I figured a nice light flickable sled for the trees and freeriding.
theres a good chance ill have it set up to swap from 175 to 154 easy
@@MuskokaFreerider how would you then manage the extra tunnel length? Even if you ran a chopped suetup for the 175, I would have to assume that a 165 "short version" would be more realistic. Did you have the link to the other lightweight builds?
@@whittaker727 the tunnel is a 165 expert so it’s already the short tunnel. The 175 stack will just stick out further past the tunnel. And when he switches it back to a 165 it’s the same as a stock expert.

Aren't you worried about durability issues with the carbon fiber stuff? It doesn't take shock forces very well. And you're always at 100 when you're riding.

Lighten the flywheel, lighten the brake rotor, titanium clutch bolts, Specialty Motorsports belt drive, carbon sled rear skid, fox float shocks, good old boondocker turbo snorkel straight up out of the hood, port the track, remove the track clips, no scratchers on rails, Can Skidoo do oil injection delete?
Dimond S Ti can is basically stock decibels but sounds better. Plus saves alot of weight. Nothing wrong with that! Atleast its not a GGB😂
Diamond S on a Summit 850 NA is very loud! Not like a race can but still very loud. I removed mine because of the decibel level
Everyone has their opinions on loud cans I guess, personally have a diamond s on my Poo 850 and have been around Doo 850s withem. I dont think they are loud....then again have a few GGB mountain cans in my group. (and ran one for while)

Belt drive?
I’ve never seen any ski doo reliably run a belt drive
I ran the tki on my g4. Only time I broke a belt was when I tried to run the belt too tight. I typically ran 1/2” of deflection and that seemed to be the sweet spot.
I figured they would be heavier then 527 wow
It only had about 15 litres of fuel from my guess
I’ll sell you my dash off my 22 turbo x if you could find me the expert 2 button dash so I can replace it.
